Lenovo y50 external battery

Is there a external battery that will work with the lenovo y50? seeing that it takes 6.75A and needs 20V output in order to run it with the battery adapter. I know most external battery have 20V output but there isn't one with 6.75A please post a link of any external battery that is compatible with the lenovo y50

Here's a link to a possible portable power bank, if thats what your referring to. http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00BB5VQCE/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=42GBF7LOHUIF&coliid=ID0P1YN6JFW0C&psc=1 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BB5VQCE/ Both of those are the same product. Just different sellers.

  • Lenovo Y50-70: Battery Caused Wifi Problem

Hello, When my charger for the laptop is plugged in, it seems to somehow limit my internet access. This phenomenon seems rather new, as I havent noticed it for months, unless I somehow ignored it. When it's in, browsers process slow, or internet connection ceases; in short, i get very frustrated with the wifi/internet when it's in. When it's out, wifi is MUCH better and flows smoothly; perfectly fine
Does anyone know what the heck can be causing this problem?

So, when you talk about the circuit, do you mean the circuitry of my house, or the batter charger itself or the laptop itself? Should I request a new power coord and swap my old one with a new one, since my laptop still falls under warranty?
I spoke to my friend's family who are pretty smart with computers, and two said: "If the charger is emitting a high frequency noise, it will prevent the laptop from connecting. This is only possible however if the charger is charging (meaning using AC or DC electricity in any way."--"Laptop hardware is messed up, meaning the hardware is trying to charge your laptop and connect to the wifi through the same interrupt (same port)."Reference # 8005115756  I spoke with Lenovo support about it and customer support just forwarded the issue to experts; that's the reference number. Do you recommend that I just try to get a new charger and see if that fixes it? My laptop is pretty much unusuable in terms of browsing on the internet when it's plugged in. I could experiment to see what it does plugged in if i move into the room with the router, but I'm only a room away and it shouldnt make that much difference; besides, browsing works fine without the charger plugged in. I also haven't tried it plugged in at different locations yet, but I dont understand why it's having so much trouble when plugged in. Scrima99 wrote: "...when you talk about the circuit, do you mean the circuitry of my house, or the batter charger itself or the laptop itself?" Answer: The circuitry between your charger and the battery. See page 86 hardware maintenance manual or page 68 on how to remove the powerboard. Since your laptop is still under warrantee it is better to let Lenovo do the repair/troubleshooting themselves.

  • One month after purchase, external battery has died

Hello! One month after I purchased my Lenovo, the external battery on my laptop is dead. When I checked the Power Manager, it said that the second battery is not working and I should replace it. Plus when the external battery is connected to my laptop and I disconnect the power cord, the laptop shuts off.
I bought the four year think vantage depot protection or whatever it's called, and I have an X1 Thinkpad. Am I able to replace my external battery for free? What would I have to do? I tried finding this info online but I'm having trouble finding information about it

    @Afridicy,
There is a battery firmware to fix this issue.
    Please refer to this.

Anyone use or have used the External Battery Charger?  I'm interested to know if it charges the battery to 100% or charges to the custome settings I have set in Power Manager?

  • X240 DO NOT HAVE Internal Battery, keypad backlit. 3 Cell External Battery only last for 2 hours!

Why does Lenovo dont tell about this missing features??
I bought the unit a day before I left the country, and then to my surprise it does not have the internal battery that Lenovo is boasting about. Fn+Spacebar doesnt work in lighting up the keypad and the 3-cell external batter is no way near to 4 hrs!
    **bleep** hell Lenovo?
Another thing, is it possible to turn on the light (near the webcam) to light up the keyboard at all?

    Hi,
    1. Information about battery capacity for laptops with fixed configuration (i.e.not CTO) is provided in PSREF (for not all countries), on Lenovo support site in laptop model short description. It looks like the strings below:
    6c Li-Ion
3c front battery and 3c rear battery
3c front battery and 6c rear battery
The 1st string is for 6 cell rear (external) battery.
If laptop is CTO the battery information is available in the purchase order or in the parts data base.
    2. Keyboard backlight capability is optional feature. This information could be found in PSREF, in support site parts data base by laptop serial number.
    3. ThinkLight feature is absent in Haswell based Lenovo Thinkpads.

  • Lenovo Y50 WiGig

I have a stock Lenovo Y50 touch, 1080p screen, GTX 860m, 8gb RAMI have the stock WiFi card in it now but have been doing some research on intel's new WiGig and wireless docking. These Dell DW1601 WiGig cards are pretty cheap and easy to come by so my question is this:1) Can I switch out the cards and will they fit? They both look like half mini PCI-e2) Are there any WiGig Lenovo drivers yet?3) If not, will it work with the Dell drivers? Thanks for your time

    Hi Krito007,
Does this issue persist only in battery mode or both in adapter and battery mode? Also update the graphic driver and check for the issue.

  • Lenovo Y50 Microphone Issue

I started using my Lenovo Y50 about a month ago and have been having an ongoing problem with external microphones/headsets.The issue is that when I plug in a headset, the sound defaults to the headset's speakers, but the default microphone remains the one in my laptop. I have not been using a USB or the S/PDIF plug; just the normal audio jack. So far I have tried three pairs of headphones: A TekNmotion Yapster Blaster headset, a pair of apple earbuds with the mic attached, and finally a Razer Kraken Pro headset. Based on that, I don't think it is the fault of the headsets.Additionally, my brother got the same exact laptop at the same time, and he is experiencing this issue as well.We figured out a temporary fix:Open the sound menu, go to the "Recording" tab. For us, there are three items present: "Line In" for the Razer pro headset, "Microphone," which I assume refers to the laptop's mic, and "Stereo Mix." By setting the default device to "Microphone," then unplugging and plugging the headset back in. It will now work, but only when the "Sound" window is open. As soon as the window closes it stops working. I have tried splitting the speakers and mic, plugging in just the mic by itself, but it will only work with a combined jack. I have limited knowledge of the S/PDIF input, but from my troubleshooting experience I found that it does not work with the split mic or speakers, or combined audio jack. • Possibly moving from a Lenovo y50 to a gs60 pro but have a question.

    Hello everyone.
I have a Lenovo y50 touch that is about to be past its return date friday, I love the laptop but sadly there are 2 things wrong with it that are bad enough to make me want another computer.
The first thing is the screen, I have adjusted the color as well as I can and it is still mediocre at best.
Second thing is, you can not use the HDMI out with the gtx 860m, it will only use the Intel graphics. Thus making the idea of the laptop a desktop replacement impossible, that and the terrible screen ruin the laptop.
My main question is if you hook HDMI cable (or the display link) to a monitor will the laptop allow you to use the graphics card for display?
If I go into my nVidia display settings when I have HDMI connected it will not show the external monitor, only the intel software shows it.
I have a week till Friday to fill for an RMA and I would like to get both laptops to compare beforehand. But if the gs60 pro will not be able to function as a true desktop replacement then there is no point in spending the extra cash.
Here is the model I am looking at.

Also what do you guys love/hate the most of the gs60 line?
    Thank you!

You can't change the design of external display port.
For GS60, the HDMI port is connected with the Intel Graphics, thus you can only adjust the display settings by using Intel Graphics Properties.

  • Brand new Y50-70 battery life problem

Hello,I have recently purchased a Lenovo Y50-70 (GTX 960M, IPS screen) without Windows to save money. I do have an MSDN subscription, so this would be a complete waste of money.I've installed the OS - Windows 8.1 with update - and all necessary drivers. But Action Center tells me that there's a compatibility issue with power management, and because of this, the notebook only last 2 hours on a charge. What did I do wrong? Does the order of drivers I install matter?

    Hi Toastnbutter,
    Welcome to the Forums
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with battery in your Lenovo Y50-70 laptop.
Try to perform the battery gauge reset and check for the issue, to perform the gauge reset go to energy management and select maintainence and guide option. Select battery gauge reset and check for the issue. The order of the drivers will not matter.
Also try to reinstall the energy management and check for the issue.

  • Lenovo Y50 screen flickering?

I just received my Y50 (not ultra HD)last week on Friday and it has been running great with one small exception... I have been playing Far Cry 3 and sometimes the screen flickers? It happens very rarely but I'm not sure if this is something I should be worrying about & if it could get worse in the future. The game is on Ultra settings and runs perfect aside from these odd screen flickers.

    Hi Katiealicef,

As you have mentioned the display flickers while playing games, does it happens even while working on other applications?

  • Lenovo Y50-70 15.6 wireless issue

    Dear All,
I have purchased this laptop from Amazon and I am very unhappy with the wi-fi network performance. I have already installed/reinstalled drivers, energy management, disabled adaptor, enabled, changed wifi card settings, created a new power profile, etc. etc. etc.
All my efforts have been useless and because of this I want now to change my wifi card. Please recommend another wifi card which is WHITELISTED and works properly.
I have bought a mid-to-high spec laptop and I expect to use it as per the 1000£ i have paid for it.
Please let me know what other WIFI cards are supported/accepted.

    Thank You
    George

    Dear Cabbton,
    Thank you for you reply.
I have also read the pages regarding the wi-fi issues and (unfortunately) I can confirm that I have the same poor network connectivity using wireless connection.
That is the reason for which I am asking OFFICIAL support from LENOVO, so I can use my brand new ~1000£ laptop as it is advertised - one of the best gaming experience.
    Dear Lenovo/Lenovo support team,
I am a buyer in good faith, I have bought your product as it was advertised and I feel that I am unable to use the product as advertised because of the issues which lie in your fault (poor network connectivity) and not in my fault (wrong usage, etc).
I am unable to take full advantage of the product you sold me because of hidden defects/hidden restraints which were not brought to my attention - I mean here I cannot change the flawed wi-fi card you put into this product because of the BIOS lock you have placed and who doesn't accept other components that are not from you.
If you will not actively help me to fix this issue - the only choices you are giving me are:
-try to use a faulty product - this will frustrate me and cause a great deal of resent and unhappiness
-mod the bios and VOID my warranty (I have paid for that warranty in the price of the laptop!)
I kindly request you to take actions and provide the help I have requested in solving this issue.
    Thank you in advance
    George

  • Lenovo Y50-70 wont turn on at all

hay , i just bought lenovo y50 last week and very satisfied with the performance but this morning when i try to turn on my laptop from hibernate, the layer sudenly goes white so i decide to hard hard shutdown it but when i try to turnit on again it didnt show any sign of life ( layer and fan didnt turn on etc... ) but the battery charge indicate is on ... i read in the internet that we must take out our battery and push the power button to 5-10 second. but since the lenovo y50 has built in battery and im afraid to take the backcase open because of the warranty so i've tough . anyone can help me?

    Hello there,
I just got the same problem this morning with my Y50-70. It suddenly turned off while I was working with Win7, just a black screen, power off. So I tried to power it on again and it failed, simply no reaction at all. The only thing working is the battery LED when the AC connector is plugged in. My Y50-70 is only 5 weeks old and worked without any problems until today ;-(
I called the support at Lenovo and they told me to "hard reset" by pulling the power cable and pressing the power button for 20 seconds....no success at all. Finally after several tries I decided to send my Y50-70 back to Lenovo. It seems to be a hardware problem. Lenovo offer 2 years of warranty for the Y50-70, because of that I decided not to open it. Let´s see how long ist takes until I have my - hopefully working- Y50-70 back.
Perhaps you have more luck than I.
    Greetings from Germany!

  • Windows 8.1 takes 65 seconds to boot on Lenovo y50-70

Hi , my problem is that this new pc , that i got for 2 days , y50-70 , boots so slowly. It is literally 65 seconds. And i have no idea why..... Cant i enable somewhere some fast boot setting ? please help , this performance is terrible...

There is only 1 anti virus ( windows defender) . 65 sec from pushing the button to fully starter. It took more than 1 minute for sure , the absolute first start of windows. This lenovo got standard 1T hdd plus 8 gb SSD for windows. I have no external devices connected. I am booting him when he is plugged in.
Now , i have came across a strange thing. When i uncheck fast boot option in win 8 , and then i try to start windows , the boot time is still the same as when it is checked. I tried this option 6 times. And another thing , i saw on youtube , as people with this particular PC , Lenovo y50-70 do boot time under 14 sec.
After 3 hours of literally **bleep**ing with this pc , i managed to cut down the boot time to circa 35 sec. Still , thats crazy amout of time. And still , the fast boot option has no effect what so ever on the pc. My pc that is 7 years old , and got win 8 , without ssd ofc , boots in 15 sec. I dont get this.... This laptop cost me 1000 dollars....... why me....

  • External Battery Charger compatible with 68/68+ batteries for X240?

Can anyone confirm if the 68/68+ batteries for the X240 are compatible with the ThinkPad External Battery Charger (40Y7625)?
Also, will the same external charger work with the Lenovo 65W DC Travel Adapter?
I'm looking to establish a field location powered entirely by solar so would like to have a spare 68+ battery charging on solar (via straight DC without an Inverter for the AC adapter if possible).
    Thanks!
