Lenovo Y510p SLI Screen Flickering

Hello guys,
I know most of the Y510p user have encounter the "Screen flicker like crazy" issue, and yes,i am here to write another thread about this issue.
1.What is the reason that made it happened?
I have checked lots of threads and posts about this issue and tried, neither of them actually do solve the problem.Lenovo also does not really seem to care about this issue too (No offense, but they will just tell you take it to the service center.)
Is it because of faulty processor or graphic cards? or the display or LCD cable is broken?
2.Is there a permanent fix for the problem?
I have seen other user posted about their experience about  this model, stating it will still occur after services or changing a new one.I want to know if there is a real solution?
Please share your thoughs and let me know if there is a fix for this. BTW,mine Y510p is still under-warranty.

As you say that the screen flickers while booting as well (at the Lenovo logo or other parts), I believe that this could be a hardware issue related to either the screen or the motherboard.
The only thing I can recommend is to contact Lenovo customer support and send in your laptop for repairs.
You can call them in your country. Find the number from this link -

  • Lenovo Y50 screen flickering?

I just received my Y50 (not ultra HD)last week on Friday and it has been running great with one small exception... I have been playing Far Cry 3 and sometimes the screen flickers? It happens very rarely but I'm not sure if this is something I should be worrying about & if it could get worse in the future. The game is on Ultra settings and runs perfect aside from these odd screen flickers.

  • Xf86-video-intel: Screen flickering

    Hi,
my notebook screen (Lenovo Thinkpad X1) is flickering sporadically. This problem does not occur when using a live-CD. Moreover, the screen cables seem to be tightly connected. • G530 Screen Flickering problem

I have a lenovo G-530 laptop computer, and I have been experiencing a common issue with the screen flickering. A few days ago I decided to open up the panel with the power button, and volume butttons, and I noticed that the gray wire on the left side, connecting the monitor to the computer was burnt. I formerly had an IBM machine that lasted me for seven years. This has barely lasted for three years, and the screen doesn't work. I wanted to call lenovo, but since my warranty has ended, they are saying I will be billed for my call. All I need is that little wire, and I can't even call Lenovo for help.

LCD cables can be found on the web,
there should be a tag on the cable with a
"FRU" number to assist in searching for one.
Cable is listed at Lenovospareparts.com but currently
    out of stock.
Any reputable computer repair shop in your area should
be able to source a cable and replace it.
Or if you have experience, you can replace and save.
One question I would ask, why did the cable fail?
Any signs of it being pinched? That could break a wire in
the bundle, and cause the short circuit.

  • Screen Flickering in Adobe Photoshop CS3 and CS4

I experience screen flickering in Adobe Photoshop CS3 and CS4 when I move my mouse around on the screen. Basically any mouse movement will create flickering. The more and faster I move my mouse the more flickering occurs.
    System Specs
    - Windows 7 64bit Ultimate
    - Intel i7 3.2GHz Extreme
    - ASUS Rampage II Extreme Mobo
    - Corsair Dominator 6GB 1866MHz (Triple Channel)
    - Dual eVGA Nvidia GTX 285 Superclocked Graphics Cards in SLI
    - Dual 60GB OCZ Vertex Series SDDs in RAID0
    - Corsair 1000Watt PSU
    - CPU and both GPUs are water cooled
    - Logitech G-15 Keyboard
    - Logitech G-9 Mouse
    - ASUS 26" LCD VK266H monitor (1920x1200 @ 60Hz) DVI
    - I have the latest BIOS and all of the most up-to-date drivers installed for every piece of hardware.
I have photoshop set to use the maximum allowable amount of memory. The memory slider in photoshop maxes out at 3.25GB which equates to about 50% of my total system memory.
The screen flickering does not occur in any other application or game, only in Photoshop. I have tried every possible Nvidia Control Panel setting for this application, and nothing seems to have an effect on the flicker.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem, or any recommendations?

Aside from the potential SLI issue, you might want to study your Logitech mouse driver.
Going back a bit, several versions of the MS InteliPoint mouse driver caused just what you describe. I have not heard of this with Logitech, but did have some other issues with their SetPoint drivers. In my case, I ditched their keyboard, but kept the mouse (love it), and did away with SetPoint, using the generic driver. All functions that I needed were handled, and SetPoint was out of the equation.
Something else to look at, and good luck,

  • Severe screen flickering in Warcraft 3

I installed it, renamed the movies folder as well. However, when I run the game, I get severe screen flickering, to the extent that the game menu is visible once every 4-5 seconds. Any thoughts on how to solve this?
Since I cannot use the menu because of the flickering, I have to kill the game from terminal. However, upon exiting, my desktop's resolution and colours change, till I reboot. I tried running the game under a desktop emulation in wine, but that doesn't seem to help either. The emulated desktop doesn't flicker, but the game does.

  • Will Kinect for windows v2(Xbox one Kinect) work with my Lenovo Y510p?

    Hello everyone,
Im new here and I have a question. I have a lenovo Y510p laptop with following configurations
    RAM:8GB DDR3
    Processor: intel i7 4700MQ 2.40Ghz to 3.40Ghz
    GPU: Nvidia 755M(No SLI)
    OS:Windows 8 x64
    USB 3.0 x 2
Physical Cores 4 and Logical cores 8
So when I ran the Kinect v2 Configuration Verifier it says
Supported USB 3.0 detected but with unknown bandwidth Kinect may or may not work. Will Kinect work one mine or not? Has anyone having Lenovo y510p got it working?
    Thanks in advance.

Depending on whether or not you have other devices sharing the same bandwidth as the USB3 chipset host controller that will be used for Kinect. The only way to tell on that system will be to connect a device to see what happens. The possible issues that
can occur are described in the troubleshooting thread:

That may not be correct.  I am pretty sure I have the old X1 Carbon Touch (gen 1, 3rd gen i7) driving 3840x2160@30Hz 4K display via miniDisplayPort, it only has HD4000
Any tips on mini DP to HDMI cables? Or is this DP to DP?
I had a Kanex mini DP to HDMI, but it got savage artifacts and screen flickering at 1080p, gave it to my sister for her mac to run at 1080i and had to run a mini dp to dvi for 1080p.

  • Lenovo Y50-70 screen problem

Hello. Recently, i have bought the Lenovo Y50-70 laptop and it seems that there is some screen problem. I have a feeling that it does flicker sometimes (1-2 per hour, sometimes more). Firstly, I thought that the backlight changes for a second, but then, after more observation, it might be it turning off and on immediately, or the colours fade and return to normal. I can't say for sure, what it is, because it happens very quickly, but the eye catches it anyway and it is kind of annyoing. Moreover, once the screen went completely crazy, it started to turn off and on every 2-3 seconds, big portions of view weren't even displayed, and what wasn't displayed changed every time it turned off and on. There were also green and red dots moving all over, mouse was moving in slowmotion (like I were playing a game in 15 fps). Only the restart helped and it stopped. So the question is, what is wrong and what am I supposed to do? Sorry, if the english is bad, but it isn't my native language.

I live in South Africa. Bought the notebook on 14 July 2015, within 2 weeks I started experiencing the screen flickering and grey lines. I was told by Lenovo to roll back drivers, then update drivers etc. - nothing worked. I returned the laptop to the supplier who in turn sent it to Lenovo. Lenovo has offered to replace the unit. I am hesitant to accept another unit and am thinking of rather getting a refund so that I can buy an Acer Aspire V Nitro (same specs). My previous laptop was an Acer and did not give me a day's trouble. Don't bother trying to update drivers or open the screen to plug it into the motherboard etc. I think the issue is a power supply one and that Lenovo should do a recall of this product. I am just thankful that South Africa has consumer law which forces a supplier to replace, repair or refund a defective product within 6 months from purchase if the consumer wants - so they can't simply repair, if I want a refund, they must give me one. Good luck! PS: This was my first and last Lenovo product!

  • G500s screen flickering

My G500s laptop's screen flickers frequently but some times doesn't.Also, power & battery indicators behave the same way.
I removed battery & tried to start on only Ac bit it won't start.
    Urgent help needed.

    Hi Depp,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing issues with screen flickering in your Lenovo  G500s laptop.
Please try to perform the power drain by removing all the external devices connected to the laptop, shut down the system and remove the battery and adapter. Now press and hold the power adapter for 30 seconds and now connect the battery and adapter and turn on the system and check if the battery indicator flickers. Also check connecting only battery to the system as you have mentioned that only adapter is not working.
For display flickering, if you move the laptop lid will the display flickers stop? , also try to connect the external monitor and check for the issue.
Hope this helps. Do post back if the issue persists!
    Best regards,

  • T400 LCD Screen flickers or blinks every 5 seconds

T400 with Win XP Pro and Integrated Graphics, all the latest updates.  Even did a Rescue to original factory.
I have read numerous issues with Thinkpad screen flickering, but have not found a solution for my laptop.
My T400 just started doing the following:  Every 5 seconds, the screen will flicker one time looking like an old CRT screen rolling over once.  Every 5 seconds.  Oddly, this occurs only at the 60Hz rate.  When I set the rate at 50Hz, the problem appears to get fixed.  I have disable the Graphics Battery power option.
The flicker occurs during boot up even on the initial black / white screen, narrowing it down to hardware or bios.
Given the number of LCD issues I've read about on this era of machine (2009), I called Lenovo to see if there was a recall - they said no.  I'm a Thinkpad fan, but I am beginning to wonder if Lenovo is not acknowledging a known defect.
I just want to know what to fix.  Is this a defective LCD screen, or a motherboard chip issue?
    Any thoughts out there??

This isn't a widespread defect AFAIK.

You mean you don't have a Nvidia card in the UltraBay? And Windows shows 2 Nvidia GPUs and Intel GPU at the same time?
Have you checked BIOS/UEFI settings? From what I read, this thing has a hardware mux, so even with just one Nvidia GPU it's possible to switch between Intel/Nvidia/Optimus. But I couldn't tell if this can be done in BIOS/UEFI or if it requires some more magic that's done from Windows.
