Just an update. I formatted my laptop, and the same problem persists. So we can rule out software problems.
Good to hear! I removed and re-installed synaptics drivers, but this doesn't help. You can't install that firmware update without drivers being installed on your system. Someone could try installing older synaptics drivers and then the firmware update. I don't have energy to do that.
This really sucks.

  • Trackpad Firmware Update 1.0 Freezes / Hangs

I had a brand new MacBook out of the box a day ago. The only thing attached to it was the power cord. After a fresh setup for a new user a number of Apple software updates were found and I agreed to install them. Upon the first reboot the Trackpad Firmware Update application started up automatically. A gray box appeared with a warning not to interrupt or shut the power off to the Mac. I clicked "update" and the status bar started moving (no other applications had been opened). It got to about 95% done and hung. A one inch thick line of dark gray appeared to cover the top edge of the screen (it was translucent so I could still see through it).
I left the computer alone for 10 minutes because I was warned not to interrupt or shut the power off during the firmware update. With great reluctance I eventually pushed and held down the power button (there was no possible way to "Force Quit Applications" and the computer appeared completely hung).
After powering back up the machine the Trackpad Firmware Update application says the firmware is up-to-date and the trackpad appears to work. So it appears all is good. My questions are:
    1) Is anyone else having this issue?
    2) It is quite concerning to see a firmware update hang. Is it possible, or even advisable, to redo the update? The updater application won't allow it because the firmware is supposedly "up-to-date" but clearly there was an issue with it completing properly.
    3) Can anyone explain what happened?
I have noticed people having other problems with the update but only a few talk about it freezing up or hanging up during the update itself.

Seems like some others have had this issue as well but certainly not everyone. I found the following:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=601850&page=2
    http://twitter.com/sentience/status/1010513066
    http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/2008/11/17/apple-issues-update-for-no- button-trackpads-but-be-cautious
There is an article on "recovering from an interrupted trackpad firmware update" here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3312 but it seems to say you should be able to try updating again. When I relaunch the updater it says the firmware is up to date even though it never appeared to complete before I had to force a shut down. Hopefully a newer version is released sometime that doesn't freeze the system when installing.

  • Trackpad Firmware Update at every login

    Hi,
I recently installed Apple's update for the Trackpad. Since then, the installer comes up every time I log in (for every user on the system). The message that pops up says "Status: Firmware for this trackpad is up-to-date". I have to click "Quit" to get out of the dialog. It seems that somehow the updater got stuck in some sytem-wide autostart... how can I get it out of there? This is kinda annoying.
    Thanks,
    Michael Goerz

Delete the trackpad firmware updater application from your Utilities folder.

I have been having issues installing Bluetooth Firmware Update 2.0.1 on both of my Macbook Pro and my Imac. The update downloads but will not install. It comes up with an error code each time. I have not been able to install this on either Macs. HELP!

both units do list they they require the bluetooth update. I have downloaded it from Software update and from a direct link from Apple. I have experienced since trying to install the update that it will not full install and that it causes problems with bluetooth either being not available or working from time to time. I have not found a way to get it to work properly or going back to the previous version

I ended up soldering leads on the main board and captured the boot log. I managed to find only one other boot log to compare to (here) but comapring the two hasn't given me much insight. On the surface it seems like my issue is that the AHCI SATA loader is trying and failing to get port 0 to respond. I've posted the full boot log here, but I'll post the last bit here in hopes that someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks. Hit any key to stop autoboot: 0

  • TC issues after latest firmware update

Here is the skinny, my TC went through the normal firmware update a bit ago. Wednesday my Internet stopped working, when I use the Airport Utility app it showed the TC online, at first, then it gave me the error that the TC did not have a valid IP. Thought might have been a problem on my ISP's end so I grabbed another router and set it up Internet no problem. Has to be the new firmware right so I pushed the firmware back 3 versions, and still the same thing no valid IP but connected to the Internet but no HDD (Yes it said not a valid IP but connected to the Internet on one wireless PC). Everything else in the house would not connect to the TC they could see it but when you went to connect never asked for a password and I got the spindle of death type deal. I saved my settings and did a hard reset with the button on the back of the TC, started over and rebuilt the connection, same thing happened not a valid IP. I have read that Apple released 3 different firmware updates supposedly the last one works, it doesn't when I load the firmware I get the same error TC does not have a valid IP. I need some help, I have cycled through power down and power up situations over and over. Anyone have any other suggestions?

    Need some more info.
What is the modem.. make and model?
Is it both modem and router or just a modem?
What is the actual model of the TC.. the number from the base.. A1xxx where the x are numbers.
The latest firmware is an issue.. that is 7.6.4 and you should go back to 7.6.1
But it does seem hard to get rid of properly.
I want you to do a factory reset not just a hard reset.
Universal Factory Reset.. any model TC or AE.
Unplug your TC/AE from power or turn off at the power point.
Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on..  all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. (this is often difficult without a 2nd person or a 3rd arm).
Release it when the status light flashes rapidly. If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have missed it and try again.
    Note..
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations of the router.
No files are deleted on the hard disk in a TC.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
Please redo the setup using all SMB names.. that is short, no spaces and purely alphanumeric characters.
eg TCgenx (use actual gen if you want) for base station name.
TCwifi for wireless name. (or TC24ghz and TC5ghz which is well worth naming both bands so you can test more carefully).
Please download and install a v5 utility on a computer if any of them use up to Mountain Lion.
Tell us what OS the computers are running and I can tell you how to install the old airport utility.
Test the TC in bridge to your other router is also a good alternative.

  • Issues with Bluetooth Firmware Update 2.0?

I just installed the Bluetooth Firmware Update 2.0 as suggested by Software Update, Mac mini early 2009. On restart and login, the Bluetooth Firmware Update started immediately, and I have a beach ball / pinwheel cursor. No other program activity. Only menu bar items are Apple menu, Bluetooth Firmware Update, File, Edit, Window, and Spotlight.
Machine has been in this state for about 10 minutes (I wrote this on my /other/ Mac).
The Bluetooth keyboard (Apple wireless) /was/ used to login.
    Anyone else having issues?
    Thanks,
    Loyd

did install .... did restart .... now screen is gray for almost 1 hour .... really upsetting my small window for patience with the great apple gang ... have to race around to find computer to search for why and find nothing so i'll do force restart and see if that helps ....
the bluetooth update said it could take some time and to have power plugged in but they could have told how long and built in an exit ramp in case of this kinda "you're outta bizniz fellow" mess
any help out there ? thanks

  • Issue with SUPERDRIVE FIRMWARE UPDATE 3.0

Hi! I'm having what I feel is a small issue with the SuperDrive Firmware Update 3.0 that Apple released on August 31st, 2009. Software Update suggested I apply this update, as my SuperDrive's firmware (HL-DT-ST DVDRW GA11N) was KA15 and needed to be updated to KA16. Apple said on their website that this upgrade would "eliminate the noise made by the optical disk drive during system startup and wake from sleep" (as seen on http://support.apple.com/downloads/SuperDriveFirmware_Update_30). I installed it and restarted my iMac.
However, the SuperDrive's noise was not gone; it's still as loud as it was before. When I turn the iMac on, the things that I hear are, first the fans (or whatever that sound is), then the SuperDrive noise and finally, the iMac's startup sound.
Did I do something wrong? Am I missing something? Is this normal? I followed every instruction the Firmware Update installer gave me, but the noise isn't gone...
I tried to re-install it but then it would tell me that my computer wasn't eligible for the upgrade because the firmware was already up-to-date... Oh, and by the way, the SuperDrive does not make any noise when waking up from sleep mode, so it only has to do with the startup process.
I'd really appreciate some info on this issue...
    Thanks!

    Hi
you are not alone, same behaviour for me: drive is not making noise when waking from sleep, but does when starting up.
I tried resetting PRAM in case it helps, but no luck.
Not that it annoys me, I can live with this, but the update clearly doesn't do what it says.

  • Lenovo S6000h does not allow firmware update

Has anyone had the same problem? When you go into settings and select system update the tablet tries to open the screen but all you get is 'Unknown Error' message. I tried to repeat the steps multiple tiimes and always with the same results. The system has not been rooted, so that cannot be the case. I am trying to solve my original problem which is that video calls with Skype or with Hangouts are not working at all and was hoping that a FW update would do the trick.

Found the answer..here is what is needed to do
SwingUtilities has a method invokeLater() which takes a Runnable object as a parameter.
What this will do is immidiately returns when an action is triggered hence creating another thread for the method you want to start separately so that you can update your GUI while the other mehtod is being processed.
    Below is the code snippet
    Runnable tRunnable = new Runnable(){
                    public void run(){
                        methodThatNeedsAdelayedRun();
SwingUtilities.invokeLater(tRunnable);Hope it helps yo all who need it..:-)

  • Video size issues/slow performance after update to CC 2014

    Hello everyone,
I'm not an editor by trade, so please bear with me here. I've spent the last few days searching around for an answer and haven't been able to come up with much.
    I'm on a late 2011 Macbook Pro, 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB, Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63b).
I spent a month cutting my first little experimental feature which the assistant editor set up for me (and who is currently away).
My computer isn't rocket fast, but I was able to complete the first few passes on Premiere CC (7.2.2?) with few major issues.
About a week ago, I upgraded to Premiere CC 2014 8.0.
I immediately noticed that my footage went from this:
    To this:
    (The specifics of the footage:
As you might be able to tell, we shot very old school VHS to help sell the 90's setting. It was a nightmare to find the best way to export it all. I'm still not sure if we did this entirely properly -- and hopefully it's not the cause of these issues. Also, I know VHS is only SD -- we chose to import at the utmost quality, i.e. 1920x1440 and ProRes 422, because more of the image detail was present in low-light.)
I found that I had to select all the clips in each timeline, right click, and select the 'Set to Frame Size' to have the video full frame once again. Then I had to render everything.
As I tried to resume my edit, the performance was much slower. Playback is a nightmare. I get the beach ball of death constantly. It would take several minutes to save the project. And it started to crash about once an hour on top of everything.
But I continued to work for the last eight days, hoping that I'd be able to rectify this somehow.
I cleared the cache with no luck.
I read that I could uncheck 'Composite in Linear Color' to make it faster, but that wasn't an issue in the last build.
My playback and paused resolution is 1/4.
I read that I should update my OS to OS X Mavericks, but that keeps crashing too! Haha.
I understand that my system isn't the best, but I just want my project to perform as well as it did on Premiere CC before the update.
I just spoke to an Adobe tech who basically told me that there wasn't a solution here besides reverting back to Premiere CC from CC 2014 -- or buying a new Macbook.
But there has to be a way that I can get the same performance that I did before the upgrade, right? I have a feeling something happened to how CC 2014 is using the existing footage.
(Also, I noticed that clips where I increased the zoom, i.e. 100% to 110%, were back at their original size. And instead of saying 100%, it was now saying 300%. I'm assuming this is because of the 'Set to Frame Size' setting, but this wasn't the case on Premiere CC.)
Does anyone have any ideas what I can do here?
Here's my sequence settings on CC 2014:
    And on CC:
For some reason, portions of this window are grayed out, and not in CC 2014. Not sure if this has anything to do with the issue.
Thanks a ton in advance everyone! I really can't afford to lose 8 days worth of work, so any help would be greatly greatly appreciated!
I'll be more than happy to provide additional info.
I'm really looking to find out, definitively, if my only two options are: a) go back to Premiere CC and lose my recent work, or b) buy a new laptop, which I can't afford.
(As a side question, is there any way I can transfer my recent work from CC 2014 to CC? I understand it's not backwards-compatible, but there has to be at least a partial solution.)
    Best,
    Jon

    Thanks for the quick response!
So just this right (to DV):
I scrubbed through really quick, seems like it just may have worked.

  • HP LaserJet P1102 firmware update freezes

HP LaserJet P1102w setup will not allow me to get the firmware update because it says I must complete all print jobs first. Only print job is the Test Page, which never printed at the end of the registration/install process.

    Hey @jmg616,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you're having an issue running a firmware update to your HP Laserjet Pro P1102w. I would like to assist you with resolving this issue. However, I do have a few questions for your first before I can offer accurate support.
What Operating System are you using with your printer?
    What's my OS?
Is you printer connected through USB cable or Networked?
If you have a print job in your print queue, like your test page that failed to print after you ran the installation of your printer, than a firmware update won't go through. A firmware update is sent to the printer like a print job so you need to make sure that the queue is empty.
If you're using a Windows Operating System can I have you run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool? This tool will 'fix printing' issues for you and should it detect any driver or software conflicts it will identify and let you know what the issue is. The tool will also attempt to fix the issue for you.
    HP Print and Scan Doctor
Please let me know if the Print and Scan Doctor resolved your issue. Should you still be having problems than please respond with your Operating System and how your product is connected. Good luck!

  • I've tried running the new graphics firmware update (8/24/11), but it says the software is not supported on my Mac...

Is anyone else having this issue? I would very much like to download the update because it address the issues I have been having with my iMac.

Don't shoot the messenger . From what I've seen on various forums you're not alone, so hopefully it will be addressed, hopefully sooner rather than later.
When I got my iMac at the end of 2009 I was affected by the dreaded flickering screen issue - took two firmware updates before it was finally sorted for the majority.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboad (A1255) - Firmware update in Vista?

How do I go about updating the firmware of the Wireless keyboard in Vista to the latest version? Is this just done automatically by the Apple Software Update?

Yeah i think were all having the same issue after that Firmware update.
Surely if we can revert to an older firmware, we can get the wireless back. It still means i have to print one page at a time from OSX and sometimes reboot the printer - but thats better than not being able to print at all hey.
The new firmware is on their FTP under this link:
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL22689/bi-59777-2/HP1022_FW_Upgrade_Security_20120928.exe
Ive had a quick look on the FTP using a client hoping i could find older firmware.
Does anyone have the name of the older firmware that worked, i think i can use filezilla to search the FTP?
Really dont want to set it up shared on my mac or get rid of it - come on HP, sort this out.
    Thanks for youe time guys.

  • Mac mini Firmware Update

Mac mini EFI Firmware update 1.1 is released! Any problems with it?
Mac mini (Early 2006)   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Intel Core Duo T2300 (1.66 GHz)

I wonder how wide spread this is?
based on the relatively few postings here, I'd say issues with the firmware update aren't widespread. That doesn't mean that some users aren't having issues as clearly some are, but typically if there's a widespread problem, these Discussions reverberate around it for days.
    1. I've modified my mini buy installing more ram and
a faster / larger hard drive. I assume if I need to
send it back I am going to have to undo all that?
    Ideas?
Not so much with the memory, as long as it's good, but certainly as far as the hard drive is concerned, Apple would likely advise you that your warranty was void if they see an indication you have replaced the original drive with one that is not supported for this product.
    2. I do not have support for this mini, as this was
caused by one of their updates do you think I am
    going to have a problem?
I think you will have a problem with warranty support if Apple were to detect anything that to them appears to have damaged or compromised the system. Opening the system is not in itself a problem, but if any action you take once having done so then causes problems, they can decline to provide warranty support. In this situation, they might, for example, claim that your replacement of the hard drive was responsible, or complicit, in the failure of the system after the update was applied. That isn't to say they WILL say that, but they COULD.
