Lenovo Yoga13 Dead Pixel

I have bought Lenovo Yoga 13 on Jan 2013.
After 2 months, came out 1st dead pixel.
1 month later another 1 show up. Currently my screen happen to have 3 death pixels. (3 position)
However i believe total will be 4 dead pixels on my screen as one of the dead pixel position should consider 2 dead pixels joint together become a big pixel. (can obviously see it is bigger than normal dead pixel)
I have contact Lenovo Tech support and get to know that Lenovo policy is at least meet 5 dead pixels for IdeaPad. Is that truth?
I am quite dissapointed with Lenovo as i m just use it few months moreover i m not a heavy user.  The pain thing is my death pixels happened on the midlle of the screen and show it as a vertical order, it is too obvious and annoying.
So anyone face the same problem as me & any Lenovo staff can help over here?
I am from Singapore.

Ive found a dead pixel on the first yoga I purchased out of the box, Lenovo processed a return, the second one had screen washout in the bottom right so I returned that one, and the third one has a dead pixel out of the box as well.
Im not sure whats happening with the quality of the screens, Im less than impressed as well. I guess I am a bit lucky in that I discovered all these issues right after purchase, but its taken about 2 months to get to this point, so its quite a while. I don't think they will do anything about my most recent laptop, when talking to the rep about the last return, she said that I would not qualify for anything else if there is anything wrong with my new one. Im not sure I would purchase a ideapad again, if I ever decide to give Lenovo another shot I might stick to their business lines (that's what I use at work, never heard of issues with those) as it seems thats where the quality is.

  • Lenovo G460 - dead pixel, LCD can't be waken up from sleep/ hibernation , very hard to use Touchpad

I got this unit as my birthday present last week. I was very happy about it, as i've been using Dell laptops for the past 6 years of my life, this is the very first time in my life that i'm getting a Lenovo laptop, and i gotta say i'm very disappointed. Friends around me saw me carrying a new Lenovo and they all went " oh my god, that's Lenovo leh !!!", and now i must say "it's no big deal, it's only Lenovo".
after i got this laptop as a present, i'd been quite busy with work and didnt even play with it much. But when i first got my hands on this laptop, i found the touchpad is the hardest one i have ever used in my life. i dont know if it's me or the touchpad itself. Sometimes, the right click doesnt work or the pointer just stalls on the screen for a few seconds no matter how hard i try to move it. Ok, i said it to myself, fine, maybe i got too used to Dell's touchpad, this is a laptop of higher end/ bigger name and it's too hard for me to use. i could get myself an optical mouse. But the nightmare is just about to start !!!
It's labour's day, i got 3 days off work and i started playing this new laptop. After playing around with it for half a day, i left it for shower. After i returned, the display turned off. I tried every way to wake it up and they all went in vain, only a hard power off would do the job. I got online, searched the forum and found that many other users were having the same problem as i had. Ok, read that a BIOS update would solve the problem, though it's not available now. I can be patient and not a crazy **bleep** complaining about it.
just the next day, i woke up from bed, turned on the laptop, as windows 7 was starting up, i suddenly noticed there was a **bleep** dead pixel !!!!! it's so tiny that it could be so hard to see, if it wasnt windows 7 startup screen (all black with some colorful animation at the center) i wouldnt have noticed it !!! I googled on G460 having dead pixel, oh my, i'm certainly not alone !!!
Now that i have sold off my old dell laptop, and had everything set up in this new laptop, and it seems that i need to return this laptop, and certainly i'll have to live my life without a laptop for the next few weeks. I gotta say it again, i'm very disappointed in Lenovo !!!
Now please let me know how do i return this laptop for repair or whatever you call it, as i work on weekdays in singapore and return to malaysia only on weekends, and this laptop was bought in Malaysia. looks like i gotta take a day off just to send this laptop back to lenovo..........what a big let down.
have had so many Dell laptopsand  never had a single tiny problem with them......

I'm banging my head because I can't find a solution to make my arch-install detect an audio CD
I assume that you mean the optical drive. I don't see a /dev/sr0 in /dev
Does it show up with lsblk or parted -l?
Looks like it's a LiteOn drive.
You can play an audio CD.
    mplayer cdda://
    mpv cdda://track[−endtrack][:speed][/device] −−cdrom−device=PATH
An audio CD doesn't have a mountable file system on it.

i suggest you to contact lenovo support line for dead pixel pixel issue. ( warranty may cover )
recovery partitions are hidden, so you can't see the partition unless some error occurs.
i didn't understand what your question is, creating recovery dvds or recovering system using disc?
actually, answer is yes for both.

  • Dead Pixel Agony

    Hello Peeps,
I just received T520 package today and my excitement suddenly turned to grief when I saw a bright glowing red dot on my screen. OMG... a dead pixel right out of the box! Did I just drop my hard earned grand that I have been saving for months on something that would bug me for the rest of the products life?
I quickly searched Lenovo's dead pixel policy and almost fainted when I found out the unit has to have at least 3 dead pixels to be considered for replacement noooooooo...wahhhh....boohohoho..sob
Why did they ship out a unit with dead pixel??? I'm pretty sure it was NOT missed by QA because it glows like a laser beam in the dark and a dead pixel would not develop while in transit!
I'm going to contact Lenovo post sales tomorrow and really hoping something can be done. I know some of you will consider this as another guy who got a dead pixel rant, but man, when someone spend this amount of cash, and I'm not rich, I would at least expect to receive a non-defective product. Oh Lordy, I should have trusted my instinct and buy something of this value in a brick and mortar store. Hoping for the best but this night would not be a pleasant one.
    Sigh,
    Jason

    Update #1:
So I called Lenovo After Sales and was given a Case# so I can return the unit for a full refund. That process went smoothly so props for Lenovo on that regard. Since I got a boost of confidence with Lenovo's customer service and also I really liked how the T520 keyboard feels like in my brief experience with the product, I went ahead and ordered a new one, not waiting for the refund on my other card which I calculated would take at the minimum of two weeks. Crossing my fingers that I would get a dead/stuck pixel free display this time.

  • Lenovo wont stand behind dead pixel policy

I am not sure what else to do. It seems like unless you complain on this board, lenovo will not respond.
I bought a t400 back in 2008 and it shipped with dead pixels.
I informed support and they noted it "on my account". I had a 5 year warranty and decided to wait until I had a major issue.
My T400 recently failed (hard blue screen) and I sent it in to lenovo support. They refused to fix the lcd and after a few days shipped my laptop back without fixing the blue screen
I finally got support to let me go with a local repair shop (they did a motherobard swap). The tech fix my machine but again lenovo refused to repair my LCD
I bought a 5 year warranty for piece of mind and  lenovo has completely failed.
If you have a dead pixel issue, return the unit asap. Lenovo will refuse repairs.
I have purchased 4 thinkpads since 2008 and since the t61 nvidia failure, the support has gone completely downhill
My case # is A02P78N, and I have sent 3 PMs to mark with no reply.
    Can anybody help?

  • Brand new T530 issues. (Defective FHD panel/dead pixels)

Just received my T530 yesterday, and honestly I've got to say it's a great machine, but I have noticed a couple of minor problems with it, along with a factory defect.
    1. The battery is too loose.
    2. The keyboard has no caps lock indicator, yet the mute button has its own indicator (can't complain there)
I bought the FHD screen, which is absolutely exceptional, except for the fact that it has about 4 DEAD pixels on the middle right..
Also I bought this unit brand new on eBay, but my warranty status says it has expired before it ever started. What's up with that?
One final thing, when I opened up the box, the power adaptor, was in its own little compartment, unprotected, though it works fine, but is a little scratched, not sure if that's Lenovo's fault, or if the seller accidentally removed packing material when including the recepit/invoice.
Looks like I'll have to send this unit in, I assume Lenovo's warranty covers factory defects with the screen?
    Thanks.

I ended up getting a full refund, and now I am ordering directly from Lenovo.
    Thanks everyone!

  • Could some one help me with dead pixel on my screen?

I bought my Thinkpad X61 only a few days back. I opened it and found that there is one dead pixel in the middle of the monitor. Is there any possibilty that Lenovo would fix this? I know that I have to pay 15% of the purchage amount in order to return this peice. I would be really happy to return it without any costs. I talked to the service people. This is the worst service ever I had. No one is replying. One girl told me that the dead pixel goes away in a few days and It would be okey. It looks like if you order a laptop online, they send you laptop with defective pixels.

  • New T520 With Dead Pixels

Hi, I have a new T520 that I have purchased about 30 days ago and it already has some deak pixels on the screen. How can I go about getting these fixed?
    Thanks,
    Josh

Hi, I went through the same dillema with a previous purchase. Out of the box, it's got stucked pixel so I returned them and ordered a new one. Your's is already more than 30 days old so Lenovo Post Sales might give you a hard time with a return but if it has more than 3 dead pixels, I believe you can return it for warranty.

  • Dead Pixel policy for T410s

I called up the technical support, and they told me that I need to have at least 9 dead pixels. But later on when I checked the customer support website, it said that I need only 3 dead pixel. here
Currently my laptop has exactly 3 dead pixels (black color).
Does anyone knows whether Lenovo changed their dead pixel policy from 3 to 9 pixels for an exchange?

Have you tried an app like UDPixel to try and unstick the pixels?   Though yeah if you can tell tech support the document which you found the information in you should be able to get the panel replaced.

  • Dead Pixel Policy

**bleep**, looks like I have my first dead pixel.  Never had a single one on my 5 year old 1920x1080 Dell D810, yet this not even 6 month old W510 has one already.
Looks like the Lenovo magic number is 3:

Anyone else have any dead pixels?  Anyone know of any good software to check for them?  (i.e., test various color transitions).
I notice if I tap the back of the screen gently, it'll sometimes coax the pixel to behave -- maybe there's a general fix?

I can't belive it but Lenovo Service has replaced my broken LCD on new. My warranty ended on 25th of Nov and I had gone to Service on Monday 22nd od Nov. I didn't have any warranty because I had bought my Notebook from third-hand. I thought they will not replace LCD but they did it. Lenovo service is great. I love them!

  • Dead pixel on T61 and warranty!

    Hello everyone,
I bought a second-hand T61 7663-CTO from a guy (which is still under warranty till 2011) with just a receipt. I have used it for 2 weeks and now I found a DOZEN of dead pixels on the screen (blame me for not testing it carefully).
So anyone please let me know if my laptop still can take the warranty with that receipt he gave me?
And how long does it take the laptop to be fixed?
    Thank you!

  • X220 came back from depot with one dead pixel on new replaced panel

I bought my X220 on May, 2011. It was working great up until last month when suddenly several dead pixels(around 5) appeared on the IPS panel. They were dark dots scattered on the mid bottom part of the display, and were invisible only on dark images. I tried various stuck pixel fixing programs for several hours with not good result.
I called the support number for Canada, explained the issue and immediately got a call number and a box was on the way.
Yesterday I received the X220 back after a week and half, which is quite fast for what I expected the service time to be in Canada. When I turn on the machine I immediately notice some backlight bleed on the bottom on the screen given that the old one didn't have any. I thought it would not bother me since I could only see it if displaying dark backgrounds, which is rare for me once in Windows. But I also notice one dead pixel on the mid bottom right of the screen, and it looks darker and bigger than the ones in the old screen. Anytime I'm looking at anything bright colored I see it.
As of now, while I'm at work the X220 is running UDpixel at home to see if it gets fixed. I was wondering if Lenovo would grant me another repair call seeing that the dead pixel bothers me more than the ones in the old panel, although it is only one.

    @pacho,
You can try taking a picture of the screen showing the backlight bleed and try contacting support and see if they can get it replace again. Do let them know your previous case number as well.

  • Satellite 5100 - Question about dead pixels. Is it really dead pixel problem?

    Hi,
I've got Satellite 5100-603. There have been some dead pixels on display. I don't know is it really dead pixel problem or not because the black area seems to be behind the screen. When i move left and right sides, the black area moves left and right sides too (as if the black area is behind the screen pixels)! And i can tell that all pixels are working OK when i look from the right and left sides of the display (because the pixels that seems to be dead, changes at different looking angles).
Are there really dead pixels or is it some other problem?
Is there anything that i can do about it?
For info, i am using my laptop for 2,5 years and there is no warranty of course...
    Thanks for any help..

    Hi
to answer your question I will try to make a simple description the layout of the TFT display.
I'll go from the front to the back.
In the front is a tough plexi-glass like layer to protect the screen from harm and the user from glass in case the TFT should break. It is also prepared in a way that will soften the reflections from behind (that does not go for the newer SuperBright screens).
Behind that is the 2 layers (at least 1 of glass, probably both) that hold the actual matrix of the pixels.
Behind theese 2 are a very complex set of layers that take care of the backlight. It consists of various numbers of films that should spread the light from the singel FL-tube evenly across the complete screen. Not a easy task if you ask me!
Sometimes, physical stress or dirt can make 'blotches' appear on the screen and they are in fact either dirt on the backmost layer or marks on the same. If there is dirt or marks on it, that will 'shadow' the light that comes out from it and show dark spots on the screen. They are quite different from defective pixels.
The defective pixels do not change with the angle of view for example.
I think you cannot do anything about this except changing screen. The construction is very complex and sensetive.
