Graphics display problems Lenovo G50 AMD A6 Win 8.1 Greetings to all. After having spent a number of days trying to find a solution to a display problem, I turn to this forum for help. I own a Lenovo G50 AMD A6 Win 8.1 ever since November 2014, and have had display problems ever since the first day, be it while using internet (Firefox or Explorer) or various software (Text editors, etc.). Many dialog boxes, including colour settings and controls (open, close etc.) either have an inappropriate appearance or even do not appear at all! I manage to "click" on the right places using memory: most areas are INVISIBLE! Another example would be that I do not see any backround colour or image on most webpages such as this one).  Some suggestions included checking for graphics updates (but the drivers used were already up-to-date).  I 'd be most obliged for any new suggestions. Thank you very much. George

Greetings to all, I finally decided to express my utmost discontent with- the Lenovo G50-45 I bought before Christmas 2014,- the summary response with inappropriate links that I received after exposing  my problem- the fact that I tried to dowload the following graphics driver  (Beema) AMD Driver (VGA, HDAudio, SATA) for Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
    exe
    526 MB
    Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

When i plug my monitor to the motherboard VGA port, there's no display on the monitor.  However, when i plug my monitor into the Video card's VGA port, there's display.
What's wrong with it? This is my second lenovo with the same problem. I didnt do anything to it. It is my first day using it.  Also, i called Lenovo Tech Support, they remotely helped me do all of the driver update....

You must enable multi-monitor support if you wish to use the internal graphics when a graphics card is installed.

  • Ideacentre B320 display problem

I'm suffering from a display problem, and cannot figure if it's a software or hardware issue... I'm on Win7 64bit. Here are the symptoms:
    1) For a while now, intermittently the screen would go grey (or some sort of a messed up pattern of rgb pixels) and I would have to power down forcefully. The frequency of this has gone up very much in the recent weeks
    2) When the machine freezes, I can still hear the music playing, and Windows continues to do whatever it was doing before
    3) Recently (I'm guessing after a Windows update), I wasn't able to boot into normal mode anymore. It would show the Windows splash screen, then before the login screen appears it would just go black and freeze. Leaving it for a long time doesn't lead to recovery
    4) To try and fix this, I've updated the ATI driver to the latest version, which didn't work so progressively tried every version between the11.6 and 10.3 (4?) which was the default when the machine was purchased. No luck there. I've also flashed the bios and that didn't help either
    5) I can boot into safe mode, so I disabled amdkmdap using sysinternal's autoruns.exe, which meant that I can boot into normal mode, but it woud fall back onto Windows' vga driver (1400x1050 only!)
    6) Now, even in the low res mode, almost daily the grey screen freezing would happen and I would have to reboot. Tapping the power button allows the shutdown dialog to come up (I'm guessing), and pressing enter would shut down the machine then.
There's an awful lot of posts on the internet regarding people having issues with ATI HD6450 and similar category cards, some of which sound similar to my case. They too experienced the freezing problem and reverting or upgrading the drivers had no effect (many even reinstalled windows completely). It sounds like though, the problem is software in origin at a guess.
On the other hand, the machine is now 3-4 years old and I could imagine that the GPU or graphics memory might have suffered wear and tear -- emailing Lenovo support took a week to get a response, the only thing they asked was whether my warranty is still active (after that it's been a complete silence) are they usually this terrible?
The last thing is, when the problem first occurred I booted using a linux live CD and it was all fine, at full resolution graphics. I haven't repeated this experiment since it takes quite a while to boot from a CD... but suggested that the hardware is intact. In fact, by messing about with the drivers I was able to boot into Windows normal mode and operate for 1-2 days, after which the grey freeze happened again. I haven't been able to get back into that since.
Here is my question: Is there a way to find out whether it's software or hardware that's at fault? If it turns out to be hardware, what are my options at replacements? The GPU is soldered onto the motherboard, so do I have to replace the whole thing? If it's a software issue, would restoring to factory default state fix this issue, given that an unknown update could cause the same issue at any time... This is the last time I will buy an AIO without removable everything.

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !
Probably a good test of the hardware is use the Linux Live CD that you used earlier.   If the graphics are still good when using the Live CD then your monitor and GPU are fine.
If the hardware checks out Ok then I suspect you have a driver problem.  Try using a driver cleaner to fully uninstall the ATI driver since bit and pieces left over from previous driver installs can cause problems.  The link below is for a free and highly recommended utility for cleaning the system of the graphic drivers.  After the clean up I would try installing the original driver that came with your system.

  • Display problem T520

I have a T520 4239CTO.  Win 7pro.  I'm having a display problem.  There's a 1 cm grey line 2/3rd down the screen.  The image is split--part of the top display is at the bottom.  The color on the screen rotates between orange, red, blue, green, etc.
I use the Lenovo update so my drivers, etc are up to date.
How do I figure out what is wrong?  I'm currently using a 9-in portable monitor so I can use the laptop on the road.
I've run some of the basic Lenovo diagnostics but it doesn't seem to find anything wrong.  Perhaps I'm not using the diagnostic software correctly.
    Any ideas?  Thanks

  • Display problem - blue tinge, low res

My first gen 20" intel imac has an odd display problem.
The screen has a light blue tinge to it which show up particularly clearly in finder windows which i have set to display white. I've played around with brightness/contrast settings as well as colour calibration but to no avail.
This problem started a few months ago when it would periodically flick between being normal and this blue tinge. For the last few weeks the blue tinge is all I get.
The other symptom seems to be a reduction in resolution in 'blue tinge mode' which is particularly noticeable when watching movies.
Does anyone out there have any ideas?

does this problem occur on external screen?

  • Display problem - horizontal stripes appear sometimes

I've got display problem. Horizontal stripes appear sometimes (randomly?) on movies or just desktop and stop when I change screen resolution to other and switch back to 1080p. It only happens with my iiyama xb2472hd via hdmi. Everything is fine using Windows. I've tried other monitor via hdmi and the problem doesn't occur.
Any ideas how to find source of problem?
    Here is video:
    http://youtu.be/dV2d44njQXg
    My hardware:
Iiyama XB2472HD + Lenovo y580 which is using Intel HD Graphics 4000 as display device

After months of having this problem I realized that it occurs only with that monitor (Iiyama XB2472HD but probably others too) when I turn it off and than on (after some time) while Arch is still running...
Common situation: I lock the screen in KDE than turn off the display using capacitive button on the device. When I come back after few hours and turn it on the stripes appear. Switching to other screen resolution for a while makes it fix.
Could it be some synchronization problem or something like that?
Have someone any idea how to debug it ?
I believe that someone (kernel developers or Iiyama) made some bad assumptions while implementing HDMI standard...

  • X200s Display problem

Hi all! I would like to ask for help in diagnosing a display problem in my X200s, model 7470-5GA.
Attached below are photos of how it looks (white flickering screen). There are times when I boot the laptop and everything appears to be normal and okay until after Windows starts and the problem comes back.
I've tried connecting it to an external monitor. There is a signal but there is no display on the external.
I've also tried booting Linux from a USB to check if it's only happening in Windows. The issue persists in 3 Linux distros I've tried.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Finej,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understand that you are facing the issue with Display on your ThinkPad X200s.
As per the snapshot I am sure it is a hardware issue and it might be with Display screen or with system board. However I request you to confirm this in BIOS mode if the issue persists in BIOS mode also.
And also connect the external monitor while performing the BIOS boot, to perform the steps you have to keep tapping the F1 key after switching ON the system.
    Hope to hear back soon!
    Best regards,
    Hemanth Kumar

  • Having some problems with t61 display problems..

i am using a intergrated graphic card for the t61...
but what i dont understand is when i install the latest drivers through lenovo download site for the graphic card, there will be some display problems when i set to screen resolution to 800x600 or 1024 the whole screen will tend to be very small and not stretch properly according the the screen..
however i uninstall the latest drivers and went to intel to install the older drivers for the intergrated gfx.. after that everyday work properly..
when i had the latest drivers when i play games like warcraft or counterstrike the screen will also go very small however after using the old graphic card, the problem did not occur... can anyone tell me how do i install the latest drivers because i believe the older driver is not really expanding the gfx to the max.. thanks..

    random reboots are quite common
try updating the software before you do anything else.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Lenovo z40 screen not working

I have acquired a brand new lenovo z40 one month ago, and recently the screen began to constantly flicker. I have restarted the computer several times and ran a virus scan. I would like to know if this is a hardware or software problem, and how to fix it.

    Hi Triangle,
From your failure description it sounds like you have a hardware failure it rests between the LCD Panel/ Module, or LCD cable. Please contact Lenovo Support and send it to a Lenovo repair depot so that we can take a further look into it and replace the defective parts in a timely manner ! Cheers

  • QUIERO CAMBIAR LA VELOCIDAD DE MI PROCESADOR DE MI LENOVO Z40-70...!!!

HOLA BUENOS DIAS...!!! MI LENOVO Z40-70 ESTA MUY LENTO DESDE QUE LO COMPRE... CUANDO LE DOY EN PROPIEDADES DE MI PC... ME SALE QUE EL PROCESADOR TIENE 2 VELOCIDADES UNO DE 1.70 GHZ Y DE 2.40 GHZ... Y QUIERO QUE FUNCIONE A LA VELOCIDAD DE 2.40 GHZ... COMO LE HAGO PARA QUE SU VELCIDAD SEA DE 2.40?! PORQUE YA INVESTIGUE Y LEI QUE SEGUN ESO LO HACE AUTOMATICAMENTE...!!! CONTESTENEME...

  • Lenovo t61 no display, only if I connect an external monitor.

I started using my lenovo with a second screen, but then after a few days the main screen in my laptop stopped working, and I can only use it connected to the secondary monitor. If I set windows to "extend" the displays, and I close and open the laptop, for about 1 second I can see some image, but the resolution is wrong, the colors are a strange shade of blue, and there are horizontal lines across the screen. Then, it goes black again.
I assumed this was a GPU problem, maybe overheating? But then I thought well, the secondary monitor works, so it might be just a display problem.
Any ideas on how to solve this? I got this laptop second-hand so I don't have any waranty, I'd like to rule out any software problem before I buy any new pieces or even a new laptop.
    thank you!

    A picture of the problem:
    Link to image
Sorry if it's a little blurry, it happens as soon as I open the laptop so it's hard to take a picture (i'll see if I can make a video) basically what you see here is this same forum thread, that blue square is your forum information as it is seen next to your posts. It's suppposed to look more black than blue, but that's the problem with the screen. As you can see there is a shade of blue on everything, and the resolution is too high. Anyway it goes black after a second so I can't use it. I've tried changing the resolution but it doesn't work.
Right now I'm using another monitor connected to the laptop and it works perfectly. that's what makes me wonder if this is a gpu or a display problem

  • X230i display problem.

Hello! I've got a problem with imaging on му ThinkPad x230i (TN matrix, core i3 2370m, Intel HD 3000, Windows 7 x64). There are ripples when changing an angle and/or when moving the screen corresponding eyes. Besides, cursorial pixels appear around the Windows slot when moving. This problem is described here "http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/Widespread-Y560-Display-Problem/td-p/238949..." in details. Also it is shown on this video "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ikm9aaLcDHk". It is about different model (y560) on the video but I have the same challenge. In the y560 model, the problems had been decided by the BIOS updating.
Should I wait for the BIOS updating for the x230i or do I have to contact the Service?
    Has anybody this problem?

    Hi, Legate
What version of BIOS are you currently running? The latest version is 2.06 and was released earlier this month. If you haven't already, I would definitely recommend making sure your BIOS is up to date before contacting support, especially if it solved the error you are facing on another machine.
    Best,
    Adam

  • G570 display problem

    HI,
Got my G570 just over 2 years ago with minor problem through out the times but 3 days ago there is a display problem which I am unable to fix.
watching you tube and it crashed suddenly, BSOD, and showing all error and dump memory count down etc.
power up the computer again with only a blank screen, no lenovo logo, window logo etc
can hear it boot into window but just didn't show anything. Is it something I can fix personally or does it require some major work?
    Thanks all in advance.

    Hi Coolcold,
I’m glad that the issue is resolved, as this step resetting the RAM was not suggested initially in the post because if the computer has any type of extended warranty it will get VOID. As informed earlier any dumping blue screen issue is related to RAM as its flash memory becomes full and starts dumping the data packets. Please feel free to post in Lenovo Community Forums if you have any further queries!
    Cheers!
