  • Lenovo Z510 hard drive clicking sound

I have Lenovo Z510 and my HDD is producing clicking sounds. When this happens everything becomes frozen until clicking is over.
I has become more frequent these days.
    What can be the problem?
Does Lenovo waranty covers HDD failure?

    Marceticd,
From what you have described it sound like your hard drive is failing.  As Cabbton pointed out now would be a good time to make a backup copy of any important files that you do not wish to lose.  After the backup then contact Lenovo Support for the hard drive replacement.  If your laptop is still under warranty then the hard drive will be replaced as part of the warranty.

  • Lenovo Z510 Windows 10 upgrade query

My Lenovo Z510 laptop came pre-installed with Windows 8.1 Single Language Home edition OEM version.I reserved my Windows 10 upgrade using the GWX(Get windows 10) app & now the upgrade files are downloading. My question is..1.how my windows will re reactiavted after upgrading it to Windows 10?? As i am an OEM windows 8.1 user, i don't know the key,the Key is embedded in the BIOS.So how windows 10 will be activated ? will it be  activated automatically? 2.After upgradation if i want to perform recovery in future due to my HDD crash or some other reason, how the recovery can be performed? In that case after the recovery will it be windows 8.1 or windows 10? 3.After the upgradation, did anyone face any problem regarding drivers ?or any other problems? Anyone who has upgraded to windows 10 from windows 8.1 OEM please share your experience. Thanks in Advance :

    1) Microsoft makes true its promise on that department. No issues there. You just upgrade and login via MS account. But if you wan't to be really safe (or you would be installing manually) you can recover your OEM key by using third party programs. You can google it your self but for reference I use a program called OEMkey (convenient huh?).
    2) I'm not sure but Onekey recovery is a standalone feature of the laptop so it doesn't matter what OS you have. As long as the partition is not damaged you can, in theory, always recover your laptop. The downsize is that the hidden partition will only install back to windows 8 (not even 8.1). A solution to this would be to create a backup image of your current OS using the Onekey Recovery program (hope you didn't uninstalled it, but then you can always download the latest version). Downside is that it's gonna take up at least 30GB of space (if OS only without the other programs)

  • PE6- error message with Lenovo ThinkPad monitor

The monitor profile "Lenovo ThinkPad LCD monitor" appears to be defective. Please rerun your monitor callibration software. Choices are Ignore Profile and Use Anyway. What does this mean? Neither choice allows me to do anything or changes anything.
Also, my dropdown choices on top... File, Edit, Image etc.. don't allow me to select anything.
I have an IBM thinkPad running Vista.. and it works for everything I have done. I don't understand this error. I know I can only change the DPI to 16 or 32. Is that the reason?

Basically, it means what it says: the .icc profile for your screen has been corrupted somehow, and a new (or restored) one is required.
You have several options, in the preferred order:
    1. Calibrate the screen using a hardware calibrator. This not only fixes the problem, but gives you a correct color response (within limitations).
    2. Run Adobe Gamma if you're still on CS2 or CS. The same, but not as accurate.
    3. Use the recovery disc (or partition) to restore your laptop to its factory state.
    4. Do nothing. Click ignore profile. This tells your screen to use a standard profile called sRGB. Probably close enough.
Edit: it's possible the recovery disc lets you restore individual drivers etc. in addition to the full package. Start it up and see what it says.

  • Lenovo z510 windows 10 upgradation issue

Hey there... once again I'm back with another issue on z510. Guess as long as it's with me, it's not gonna stop creating problems for me. But, I'm still madly in love with this machine, SORRY my machine. Actually, got this windows 10 upgrade reservation message earlier, so I did reserve it, and later, after it got released I tried upgrading it. Including today this was 6'th time I let my computer do upgrading process. Every time after it has done complete upgrading, it reverts back to 8.1 I dont get any error message, no compatibility issues.. What could be causing this...? And how am I gonna deal with this, any idea, anybody out there...? I tried to upgrade thru usb  also, and then it was started in win 10. It made me so happy.. But soon after doing all sign up and other setting, when I restarted it... same it was back to windows 8.1 after a long hold of dark black screen. Thanks in adv..

  • Request for optimal calibration settings for Lenovo ThinkVision monitors

I understand one person's settings may not hold true for someone else's given display variances, but I would very much like to get anyone's suggested, optimal picture settings for each of the below two monitors.
Primarily monitor 1 looks way worse than monitor 2 for me, but I still want help with both.  Models listed below.  Please include each item/setting with # used so I can try them out and see if it helps.
      Monitor 1: LEN L1900pA
      Monitor 2: LEN LT1913pA
    Thank you for your help!

    Hi Jwhyrock,
    Jwhyrock reply,
I played with settings on all 3 monitors.  Not entirely sure I like what I did, but it is a bit better.  I would still like to see what settings anyone else is using for their display such as contrast, brightness, color saturation etc.
Below is the link on how to setup the default calibration for display, please follow the steps. And also suggest you to check with resetting the Monitor to factory default setting in the monitor, or you can also check with installing Monitor .inf for the specific model which can be downloaded from the manufacturer link.

    Hope this helps!

  • Lenovo z510 windows 10

After verifying that my copy of windows 8.1 is legitimate and installing all available windows updates, why does the upgrade icon still not show up in the taskbar?

I fixed mine by applying some of the solutions on these sites. There are may reasons why it doesn't show so what I did may not be applicable to you. But I think it is safe for you to try the solutions found here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-win_upgrade/i-want-to-reserve-my-free-copy-of-windows-10-but-i/848b5cce-958b-49ae-a132-a999a883265b?auth=1 http://www.askvg.com/fix-get-windows-10-upgrade-app-icon-is-missing-in-taskbar/ What worked for me was a combination of reinstalling the updates and activiating it via Regedit. Hope this helps.

  • Lenovo L192 ThinkVision Monitor 6920-AB1 Windows 7 Drivers

Hello there. My first post ever. I pride myself on being able to nut out most problems on my own, but this one has me baffled... I'd really appreciate some advice.
So... I bought a Lenovo L192 monitor second hand, thinking that the maximum 1440x900 pixels would easily compensate for the loss of my ancient Dell monitor (nothing so permanent as a temporary fix, right?).
And it did. So long as I was running Linux. Then the maximum resolution worked a treat. Out of the box. No config required.
Then I needed Windows 7, so I installed it (a major personal achievement I won't go into) and activated successfully - so it's legit, 100%, Windows 7 Ultimate, single licence, single use, no problems there.
Now, when the Windows 7 installs, it gives me three options for screen resolution, two of which work, the other not. When I installed the Vista drivers it gives me the first two options, and I lose the third (which didn't work anyway, so no great loss). The problem being that the max resolution available to me is 1024x768 either way.
Now, before I lose you altogether, I've tried everything I can think of. I've tried searching (and upgrading every official driver along the way from) the ibm website, this lenovo website, support.lenovo.com, microsoft, ati (who do the video card), I have googled till the cows come home, everything, but I just cannot get the maximum resolution out of this monitor on Windows 7...
Is this an XGA limitation thing (and if so, how do I fix it)? Is this a driver thing? Is it a video card thing? Is it a Windows 7 thing? Have I wasted time and money barking up the wrong tree and it just downright isn't possible?!
I find it hard to believe that 'upgrading' my OS could give me less support for my monitor rather than more. Is this the case here?
    Thanks for reading this far,
    Phil.
    Solved!

according to the above, the graphics card is not supported in your windows 7, which is why you can't get a resolution above xga.
Maybe it is time to consider a graphics card upgrade in the server.
