Lens blur not working

I've used lens blur in the past with no problems.
Now I'm applying blur to an image and when I press the OKAY button the filter processes but the image returns to its original condition.

Hi Kwill,
Could you try resetting the preferences as mentioned in this post - http://forums.adobe.com/message/5984761?

  • Lens Blur not showing in After Effects CC 2014 Release

    Hi,
As I'm new to the After Effects - Video Copilot environment I can't figure this out that why, after having the plugin in the Effects folder I can't see Lens Blur in Effects>Blur and Sharpen>Lens Blur?
I'm working on the project named ParticleDesign which can be viewed here. How can I fix this problem?
I can only see Camera Lens Blur as the only blur effect close to Lens Blur...

There has not been a Lens Blur effect in After Effects for several versions. It was replaced with the Camera Lens Blur effect years ago.

  • Cs6 camera lens blur not using curve ajustment on blur map

So I am doing some camera lens blur to create the 'tiny town' effect. I have completed following this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oleQ9O3kaPk
But the camera lens blur doesn't seem to be taking into account any curve ajustments I make.
It is creating the blur effect as if the curve is not activated (even though it is and I can visibly see my ajustments to the gradient on the shape layer).
Anyone know what the problem is?

It works as it should. Effects referencing otehr layers use the layer source, not the effects result. You need to pre-compose the adjusted depth map.

  • Lens Profiles not working in Lightroom 5.4?

I've got OSX 10.9.2, Lightroom 5.4, latest Camera raw, everything up to date.
When I "Enable Profile Corrections" for an image shot with a Sony a7r and Sony FE 55mm lens, it should automatically retrieve this profile:
      /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/1.0/Sony/SONY (Sony FE 55mm F1.8 ZA) - RAW.lcp
Well, it doesn't.  The only Sony lens available in Lightroom's Lens Correction panel is "Sony DT 18-200mm."  But there are several dozen Sony lense profiles in the "Sony" directory.
And more puzzling, the camera "Make" menu lists 8 manufacturers (Apple, Canon, DJI, GoPro, Nikon, Sigma, Sony, Tamron) but leaves out a number of others — Fujifilm, Hasselblad, Leica, Mamiya, etc.
And as with Sony, only one Tamron lens is listed.
I've tried re-installing Lightroom fresh, and no luck.
Photoshop works fine and has all the lens profiles.
Anyone else noticing this?  Got a fix?
    Irked in Cambridge,
    Mike

I only shoot in RAW, and I am having this same issue. I shoot Nikon with a Tokina lens. This morning, Tuesday October 14, 2014, I had this setting. I closed the program and restarted it, and now I only have Apple, Canon, DJI, GoPro, Nikon, Sigma, Sony, Tamron lens profiles. There was not an update, nor did I actually change any settings. What is going on here?
I talked to customer support, whom suggested that I was stoned out of my mind because these profiles do not exist in lightroom. I did as the rep asked, followed the link and downloaded the "new" profile. Now I can't get it installed. Meanwhile, my photos are waiting for me to edit them. Can someone please help out here?!

  • Average blur not working

I have a UV map of a banana that is full of trianglesI will be using this on top of my banana to know where to make small triangles and use average blue to create a low poly banana that is unwrapped. So I used the polygon tool to create a small triangle and click average blur to get the yellow colour from banana to uv layout. When I do create a triangle on either the banana or uv and use average blur the colour doesn't actually appear can someone please explain why as well as can someone please tell how I can get the average blur of the banana but not place it on banana instead place it on the uv so it fills the triangle giving me a texture I can import to blender to give colour to my banana model. I do have a feeling it has something to do with masking but I am completely clueless on how to do any of this I am very new, I have tried searching for an hour getting no where I decided to ask here thankyou.

To get your colors correct, your approach may work, but is a lot of extra work....in 3D you simply apply the image to the UV map (the triangle shapes simply show you where the image shape will be); then use the 3D program to let the UV map image wrap around the 3D object....re-read your 3D program instructions/help file on the whole process of applying a UV image map to the 3D model....you extract the UV map, apply the image in Ps, then re-apply the UV map to the model.  There are lots of tuts on www; use Google to search for UV mapping process.  There are add-on/plug-in UV map tools which also explain/demo the process.  Look for UVmapper or similar.
Using your method, you must use the "selection" tool to create a selection (such as a triangle); then apply the average blur effect to get an avg color in that triangle.  But if you use the image as a whole, you will have better continuous image colors rather than a whole bunch of colored triangles.
You get a low poly object by creating a low poly model; not by applying an image map....although you can save file sizes by using a lo-resolution image .jpg or .png

  • Lens profiles not working well

Very disappointed here. I was looking forward to the automatic lens  correction a la DXoin PS , but unfortunately it doesnt work very well. I tried all my lenses and none gets corrected by the included profiles to a satisfactory degree. My camera is the Canon EOS 50D . First I used the profile for the Canon 10-22 lens.  The profiles did not correct Ca to a usable degree. I had to make strong manually adjustements to get rid of the CA.
I also tried other lens  profiles.  None actually corrects CA well. The profile for the 17-85 requires +25  R/C and +50 B/Y to eliminate the CA. The profile for  the 70-200   requires less extreme correction,  but still doesnt work with out manual  adjustement, although the lens just returned from Canon service, where  it was for optical inspection and readjustment.
There is also one more  bug. When I switich distortion correction on, additional CA is  introduced into the picture. The Ca correction required to correct the  automatic CA correction changes, depending on whether distorion  correction is used or not.  Sorry but this performance is not usful at  all, if I have to tweak each and every profile manually and re-tweak it  again, if I adjust geometric distortion. DXO works much better in this  regard.

I don't use these features, since I don't have such a cam, but could it be that you may need to input settings for filmback and distance of the lens mount somewhere? If the program operated based on wrong assumprions, the best profile in the world would be wrong...

  • Motion Blur not working in AE CC

Using AE CC on a MacBook Pro, adding motion blur to a fast-moving footage layer in a comp. Both the comp and layer motion blur toggle are on, but no blur is added. Force motion blur has the same non-result.

Make sure the layer is moving. Make sure you are not set to draft. Show us a screenshot and we can probably nail it down in 2 seconds.

  • Custom lens profile not working

I decided to create a custome lens profile for my old Canon EF 17-35 2.8 L USM lens. I downloaded the Adobe Lens Profile creator and studied documentation. After figuring out it is time taking process I finally decided to shoot over 500 hundred images with the lens in RAW format with my 5D Mark III.
First I was a little too optimistic and imported all the photos to ALPC without separating them to distance groups. I shot 9 photo sets with apertures 2.8, 4, 5.6 and 8, focal lengths 17,  20, 24, 28 and 35 from 3 different distances. The ALPC created the profile ok (there were some skipped photos) and I can select that profile both in LR5.2 and PS CC. However nothing changes in the picture when I select that profile. I read the documentation again and decided to start again with just one set of 9 pictures (17mm, 8.0, one shooting position) profile gets created and is selectable in LR and PS, but it affects nothing. Even if the target photo (RAW) is shot with different focal length or aperture, shouldn't the approximation used then and some visual change to be seen?
    What am I doing wrong?

Please send the profile and an example raw image (taken with this 17-35 lens) to me at [email protected] (dropbox, yousendit.com, etc.).  It will help me determine what is going wrong.

  • CS3 Motion Blur not working?

I have a comp that has just a text layer. I've enabled 3D switch for the layer. I added a wiggle expression to its position. I then enabled the motion blur switch. When previewing and/or rendering, I don't see any motion blur at all. I really don't want to use CC Force Motion Blur because it takes too long to render. Does anyone know the reason for this or what it might be? Is there a setting somewhere that I might have disabled so I don't see motion blur?

    See
"Use motion blur" for a description of all of the UI items that affect motion blur.

  • Canon 24-70mm f2.8 II - profile correction not working

The profile correction in LR5 for the above lens is not working. It appears it's a blank profile with zero distortion data. On the other hand, the profile for the older lens, the canon 24-70mm 2.8 I works well.
Having owned both I know version II of this lens has less distortion, but it's by no means zero across the range. This is one of the most important top of the line lenses for Canon, I'm sure many like me would appreciate this profile corrected.
    Thank you.

I also for got to mention that the data in this profile may actually be invalid as the minimum focus distance for that lens is 0.38m
Another more basic reason to regard it with suspicion, would be that it reports a crop factor of 0, which is (of course) impossible.
The fact someone in the community may have rated it 5 out ot 5 for quality, is not exactly authoritative AFAICT .
The profile already installed along with LR is distinguished by being generated with the 5D Mk II, not the 5D Mk III, but IMO this is no reason not to prefer it in other respects. Adobe seem to have done a thorough job of the task here.
It sounds in this case, as if a (apparently invalid) profile that has been downloaded by the user, has taken precedence over the "built-in" one. (These two classes of profile are stored in different file locations with differing user permissions.)
In case you are unaware, the profile that is to be auto-selected against a given Lens ID on the images, can be controlled by the user. Choose "Set as Default" from the profile selector, after manually choosing one there. All images with the same Lens ID, where the profile selection reads "Default" (which is a safe setting to impose across all images), will hereafter adopt a user-corrected choice of profile, all by themsleves.

  • Iphone 5 camera is not working soon after I downloaded ios7.  Camera is frozen and shows a blur picture.

    Hi Apple,
Can you tell me if there's a reason for my camera not working on my iphone 5.
Soon after downloading ios7 , the camera's front picture has frozen and shows
blurred picture . The app itself is frozen also  , can't bring up photos from photo album .
Also I reset the phone and still the camera is not working .
please advise me as what to do next .
    Regards.
    Reggie.

    Hi Patoraffo,
I understand that you are having issues with the Camera app functioning, I found the following information that may provide a resolution:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
    Camera is not functioning
    - If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
    - If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tapping Settings > General > Restrictions.
    - Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
    - Third-party cases can interfere with the autofocus/exposure feature and the flash (iPhone 4 only); try removing the case if you have image-quality issues with photos.
    - Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
    - Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
    - Try to remain steady while focusing:
              - Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center. Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
              - Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. After recording begins, you cannot readjust focus until you stop recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll. Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
    - If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Creative cloud photoshop blur tool not work as it should be

creative cloud photoshop blur tool not work as it should be !
I go to blur a painting i am doing and it does not blur enough and I am using wacom Intuos 5 med pen tablet.
and I even set the tablets sensitivty for pressure lower then default and still not getting the blur tool to do its job.
I even adjusted the brush settings too to be able to blur even more on hard settings, still nothing.
at least it not bluring enough to see any major changes.
the only way i can blur anything is by using the fliters blur or the brushes ( mixer brush ) settings to mix colors and do it that way.
(note) I will not post my systems specs sorry I don't do that and even the tech from adobe said I do not have to. and so I wont !
just need advise not to share system specs.
and thats what this forums board is for getting advice and read what others say about the issue at hand.
it's not to post or share system specs  !!!
so with that out of the way I need advice only please ?

    Hi,
It might be your image is too big in terms of pixel dimensions for the blur tool to work well.
If you zoom to 100% do you see any change when using the blur tool?
What are the pixel dimensions of the image?
    (Image>Image Size)
If you try a small image, does the blur tool work?
What about when you use the mouse instead of your tablet?
Can you at least tell us what operating system and version of photoshop your using?

  • Simple blur filter works on gpu/cpu but not flash

Knowing that this also does not work in your flash project helps. As for the ordering problem, I believe the toolkit orders the input images in z-order according to the order in which the inputs are declared in the filter with the frontmost displayed image being the first image declared in the filter. The Flash preview appears to reverse that order. I believe this choice is being made on the Flash runtime side. Kevin may be able to provide more insight. Regardless, it would be nice if the behaviors were identical.

  • Autofocus not working. (18-55mm lens)

    Hello,
The autofocus on my Canon 18-55mm is malfunctioning and I'm afraid it may be broken.
All the internet research I've done points to issues electronic, but I believe this to be mechanical simply because of the noise it makes. With the lens set to AF, it does nothing, but makes a slight whirring sounds as if the camera is trying to, but can't focus the lens. In MF, turning the focus ring makes soft clicking sounds.
The autofocus works fine on the other lens I have.
The lens has not been dropped. I take really, REALY good care of my stuff!  Any other recommendations or bits of advice are much appreciated!

    Hi marcosochoa!
amphoto1 makes some very valid points, and it does sound like it could  be the motor in the lens. We have found that sometimes we're able to remedy this without a costly repair, but it is a multi-stepped process.
    Try this:
Take the lens off of your camera.
Put the lens in MF mode.
Twist the FOCUS ring (the tip of the lens) all the way to one side (extend it). You may hear a click noise or two, this is good, but don't FORCE the lens.
Twist the FOCUS ring all the way to the opposite side (retract it). Again, you may hear a couple of clicking noises. What we hope is happening is the focusing motor being put back into its proper place.
Put the lens back on the camera.
Put the lens in AF mode.
    Turn the camera on.
Put the camera in AUTO or P mode.
    Take a test photo.
    Profit.
Hopefully this solves your problems, and you never have to worry about it again! With my personal lenses that are not USM or STM, I always store and transport them with the AF/MF switch in the MF position. This disengages the focusing motor and prevents any accidental damage to the auto focusing motor.
