Lens correction Canon G7X

Is there a lens correction available for the Canon Powershot G7X?

The camera raw files have a built-in lens profile.
You can do further corrections if necessary using the Manual Tab under Lens Corrections in camera raw.

  • Lens correction profile for the Canon 18-135 STM lens in Lightroom 5 ?

How or where can I get the lens correction profile for the Canon 18-135 STM lens in Lightroom 5 ? In effect he is not available in my list of correction lens so my lightroom is up to date apparently :/
    Thanks in advance for answer.

There are two types of Lens profiles - raw and JPEG. It looks like you are trying to process a JPEG image and Adobe has only provided a raw lens profile for the 18-135mm IS STM lens.
    You have four options:
    1) Check for available lens profile using the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader. I checked and a JPEG lens profile is NOT available for the 18-135mm lens.
    2) Follow the procedure outlined by Steve Sprengel in this post:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lr_5_lens_profile_not_applied_for_jp g_captures_only_for_raw_captures
More detailed instructions here for a Pentax lens example:
    http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/post-processing-articles/176761-creating-adobe-lens-cor rection-profiles-jpgs-raw-ones.html
This allows using the available raw lens profile with JPEG images. To my knowledge Canon DSLR cameras do not apply distortion correction to JPEG images, so the raw profile should work well. You can check this by shooting raw+JPEG and comparing the two images inside LR
    3) Create you own lens profile using the Adobe Lens Profile Creator. (A complicated process, but it can be done!).
    4) Start shooting in raw mode or raw + JPEG mode, which will allow you to extract the most benefit from LR's processing controls.

  • Canon 5D Mark III profile not found in Lens correction filter in PhotoShop CS6

I'm unable to find a profile for my Canon 5D Mark III within the PS CS6 lens correction filter.  In fact, Canon isn't even available as a camera make option within the Search Criteria box, nor are any canon lenses.  When I click the Search Online button, the prompt reads "No online profiles found".  Thankfully, I have no problem within Lightroom 4 (the Mark III and lenses are recognized)-- however, I'd really like to be able to use the new Adaptive Wide Angle Lens filter within CS6, which needs the camera's EXIF data to function correctly.  I'm using a new iMac OS X.7
Thanks in advance for any help that you may have to offer.

So that makes me wonder if Lightroom keeps its own Lens Correction folder and if so,perhaps you can copy its Canon folder to Photoshop CS6's lens correction folder.
If you still cannot find it,you can create your own custom profile or download it if it's already been posted.
This article should direct you to the profiler and downloader software. You will need to install Adobe Air to use the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader.

  • Lens correction for the Canon Powershot G1x

When will Adobe offer lens correction for the Canon Powershot G1x in Lightroom?

It's now in the LR 4.3 release candidate
I installed the release candidate on a separate PC, found the lens profile file in the install folder and copied tge file to the appropriate folder in my 4.2 install.

  • Incorrect Canon Lens Identification in Lens Correction.

    All,
Reported, but wanted to repeat here to see if anyone else has similar issues.  EXIF in Library correctly picks up Canon 70-200 + Canon 1.4 TC.  The Lens Correction module in Develop defaulted to a Canon EF-S 18 - 200 F/3.5 - 5.6.

Even if you have created profiles for a lens and the lens + TC it still will not pick out the TC version.  Been there, done that, and confirmed by adobe Simon Saith in the lens profile creator forum.

    Rory,
See my reply above.  That image has EXIF with the lens in it.  Why not use that as the mechanism vs. some calculated assumption?  I haven't spoken with Simon, but would just seem more logical as a back up if there was any doubt.
    Jay S.
Hey, I agree.  I pointed out the same thing to Simon.
Well, I put it into the system as a bug.  I don't know what the difference in cycles it is.  It seems in both cases you have to have some EXIF information associated with the image.  I don't know Simon, does he come on to the forum?
    Thanks.

  • Lens correction profile for the Canon 18-135 STM lens?

How or where can I get the lens correction profile for the new Canon STM lenses?

I see that lens listed in the release notes for the final Lightroom 4.2 update that just came out a few hours ago, so it looks like the answer is to download the update.

  • LR4 lens correction. When will canon 10-18mm lens be added

I recently purchased a canon 10-18mm lens. But when I tried to use the lens correction facility I discovered that it was not on the dropdown list of lenses.
Do you know a date when it will be added?

I have a similar Windows version so I can give you specific instructions.  This is how to copy the lens profile for the 10-18 from the Adobe PS location to the Users location so an older LR can see it.
Download and install the DNG Converter 8.7 from:  http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/   This will put the new profiles at a known location.
Find the profile you want to copy under C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\Canon and right-click Copy
I think the file you want is:  Canon EOS 50D (Canon EF-S 10-18mm f4.5-5.6 IS STM) - RAW.lcp
Go to the Users profile location:  C:\Users\Steve\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\Downloaded
You may need to create some of the folder path, but down through Roaming should exist.  The AppData folder is hidden so you may have to type it into Explorer and hit Enter to get down into it, or type %AppData% into an Explorer address bar and hit Enter and you should be down into the Roaming folder.
Once you are in the Downloaded folder (that you may have had to create) do a Paste to copy the profile over to it, and you're done, once you've restarted LR so it'll see the new profile.

  • Lens Corrections for Canon SX50 camera

Can Photoshop CS6 (Windows 8) make lens corrections for the Canon PowerShot SX50 HS camera?
My version of CS6 (64bit) is Photoshop: 13.0.1 x64 and CameraRaw plug-in is 7.3.0.71. There is a file
"Canon PowerShot SX50 HS AdobeStandard.dcp" size 118KB in the folder
    c:\Program Data\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\AdobeStandard.
However when I open a Cameras Raw file (*.CR2 for Canon) in Camera Raw and go to the Lens Corrections window with (under Lens Profile) Make = Canon I cannot find my camera in the drop-down list for Model. The list has 30 items ending with Canon PowerShot S100.
I have tried removing Photoshop, re-installing it and installing the updates, but this has made no change. I have been using Photoshop under Windows 8 since early in October 2012, and everthing else seems to be operating correctly.
    Pip Hamilton

The camera has built-in lens corrections, and Adobe already replicates these.  You cannot turn them off, so there is no selection to be made.
Here is what an SX50 HS raw pixel data really looks like using a raw converter that doesn't do lens corrections.  Notice the significant barrel distortion and the lens tube clearly visible in the corners:
Here is what the same raw file looks like in the Adobe Camera Raw plug-in for Photoshop, which has a way to tell you it is using a built-in profile, even when there is no external lens profile selected:
You need at least ACR 8.4 to see the added lens profile information.

  • Photoshop CS6 No lens profiles (lens correction filter) for Canon 6D raw files

LightRoom and Camera Raw have profiles for Lens Correction and all the current available lens are  in the list for the Canon 6D raw files. BUT the Filter/Lens Correction when in Photoshop CS6 only have 2 Tamron lens listed. Odd that there are lens profiles for the Canon 6D raw files  in Lightroom and Camera RAW but not CS6 Filter/Lens Correction.
Camera RAW, LR and PS are up to date..... NOTE: I have a Canon 7D, G11 and 1D Mark II N and all their files work as expected. It's only RAW files created by the Canon 6D.
    Any suggestions.

To the right of where it says Search Criteria, click the little three-bars-arrow icon and uncheck Match Sensor Size and it should find more.

  • Lens correction for Canon Powershot G1x

Please add Lens correction for the Canon Powershot G1 X into the LR 4.4 Update.
Sorry Adobe, but this is Canons Compact camera Flagship and still have no Lens correction profile after 9-10 Months on market??
    I cant't understand it!!

This is a User to User forum. Official requests to Adobe go here: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/products/photoshop_family_photoshop_lightro om
Adobe provides a free tool for you or some other G1X user to create your own profile. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5489 It doesn't take that all that much effort.

  • Need a lens correction for Canon zoom 8mm-15mm f4/L, it's not in the list of lens in LR

Need a lens correction for Canon zoom 8mm-15mm f4/L, it is not in the list of lens in Ligthroom
and how can I ad it?

It's available with ACR 8.4RC, so I would imagine that it will be available with LR 5.4RC/5.4. Just when that will be, is not known by anybody outside of Adobe. Hopefully soon.

  • CR 8.2 doesn't come up with lens correction profile on Canon 6d with EF 24-105 L 4.0 IS/USM

    Dear community members,
Some weeks ago I bought my new Canon EOS 6D with a EF 24-105 L f/4.0 IS/USM lens an I am absolutely happy with them :-)
The only problem that I run in to is when I process my photographs in Camera Raw. The thing is that CR does not come up with a lens correction profile for de Canon 6D with the lens mentioned above.
I do find a profile of the 1D Mark III, but this one does not work very well on the RAWs from the Canon 6D.
Does any one know if and (when yes) where I can find the right profile for lens correction? At the Adobe site I could not find the profile van this camera in combination with this objective.
Or perhaps there is another way to apply automatic lens corrections on RAW;s from the Canon 6D with a EF 24-105?
Kind regards and many thanks in advance for your answers :-)
    -Gozotxu-

    Hello,
    Thanks for your advice.
I did download the DNG Coverter but it did not help. So I decided to uninstall Photoshop CS6 and reinstall it again on my Mac.
For uninstall I followed the following steps:
    -go to finder
-go to the Photoshop CS6 map
-dubbel click on the Adobe-uninstall icon
This worked perfectly well without any errors.
Now I am running into another problem, a problem with reinstalling PS CS6.
I don't have a cd-rom with PS on it, but I have a downloaded a .DMG file which I bought and downloaded from Adobe (I don't have a CD-player in my Mac). This should not be any problem. But what happens is this:
When I dubbel-click the .DMG-file (Photoshop_13_LS16.dmg) the normal installation window appears.
After dubbel-clicking Photshop CS6 icon the following screen appears:
After selecting the Install icon the following screen appears:
The error message is in Dutch and says: 'install' excists on the diskcopy 'Photoshop_13_LS16.dmg'. Safari downloaded this diskcopy on 2 July 2013
The two buttons say: " Cancel" and "Delete diskcopy file"
When I select "Cancel" the application stops and when I select "Delete diskcopy file" it removes the Install-file (from screenshot) and the application stops.
Could you please tell me what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Gozotxu

  • Does the lens correction profile for the Canon 24-70 eliminate all distortion?

The new Camera Raw seems excellent in the Lens Correction...I will be photographing dancers and will have only 9 feet to work with. I would like to use the widest lens I can with lens correction. The question is whether this new program will flatten out the 24mm lens or if I should use the 35.
    Roger Minkow

To add to Eric's great explanation, the corrections here are for barrel and pincushion distortion. That can be present in a lens of any focal length.
What isn't corrected is the effect in wide angle lenses where there is spreading of the image of three dimensional objects away from the center of the field. It happens at any distance, not just close up. It is caused by the extreme angle of projection from the back of the lens to the flat film/sensor plane. Think of a straight on photo of a building that has equal size columns across the facade with a wide angle lens. The columns at either end of the image appear wider than the (same width) columns in the middle. Retrofocus design wide angle lenses help a little bit (the rear of the lens is further from the focal plane than in a standard wide angle), but the distortion is usually there.
There is also distortion from being too close to the subject. Focal length doesn't really matter in that, except that longer lenses don't have the field of view to take in the close subject and can't usually focus that close. So we associate this distortion with wide angle lenses. This sort of distortion would be that where a person's nose in the middle of the frame looks very large and there is quick falloff in size to the eyes, ears, background. I think of this as more an issue of perspective, and this is controlled by camera placement, not by focal length or lens design.
