Lens Correction profile for Canon 18-200mm IS

Hi,
I'm looking for a profile for Canon lens EF-S 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 IS - I can't find it in Lightroom and at the moment I'm using a profile for similar lenses from Sigma and at first glance it looks ok, but I have to manually find that lens at each photo, which is quite annoying.
I'm sure there's lots of people using same lens (as it comes included in Canon 50D PRO package which from what I hear is very popular), so maybe someone actually took an effort to create the profile using Adobe's lens profile creator?
If anyone has got that profile handy, I would very much appreciate if you could send me a link to where I can download it from or simply contact me.
Thanks cheaps!
Tom

You can choose "Save New Lens Profile Defaults" from the Setup popup menu, which will remember your choice of profile for the given {camera, lens} combo. That way you won't have to keep selecting the profile manually in the future.
Or you can create a preset.

  • Where can I find lens correction profiles for EF 17-35 f/2.8L lens using ACR 6.2?

Using Photoshop CS5 Extended on iMac 10.6.4.
I'm  working with wedding photos shot by a friend but I cannot find lens  correction profiles for Canon EOS 20D or the EF 17-35 f/2.8L lens. When I  search online it simply says "No online profiles found". Is there a  download for older lens profiles? I checked & I'm using ACR 6.2. I don't have the camera so there's no  way to take test photos to create my own profile. But, shouldn't there  be a profile available; the camera isn't that old?

Go to DXO Pro and download the 30 day trial. It works very well for lens/body correction, and unlike Adobe, DXO maintains data on the older cameras and lenses. Updates will always have those available. Adobe is a latecomer to this part of the correction process, so as Ian said, no call, no supplier? Out of luck.
    http://www.dxo.com/intl/photo
It's fair to note that DXO does not necessarily have a complete line of everything, like my Tamron 28 to 75 isn't available as a module. They do pay attention to demands, or lack therof,  that are not mainstream as well. But their offerings are excellent, and the tests, professional.

  • Lens correction profile for the Canon 18-135 STM lens in Lightroom 5 ?

How or where can I get the lens correction profile for the Canon 18-135 STM lens in Lightroom 5 ? In effect he is not available in my list of correction lens so my lightroom is up to date apparently :/
    Thanks in advance for answer.

There are two types of Lens profiles - raw and JPEG. It looks like you are trying to process a JPEG image and Adobe has only provided a raw lens profile for the 18-135mm IS STM lens.
    You have four options:
    1) Check for available lens profile using the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader. I checked and a JPEG lens profile is NOT available for the 18-135mm lens.
    2) Follow the procedure outlined by Steve Sprengel in this post:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/lr_5_lens_profile_not_applied_for_jp g_captures_only_for_raw_captures
More detailed instructions here for a Pentax lens example:
    http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/post-processing-articles/176761-creating-adobe-lens-cor rection-profiles-jpgs-raw-ones.html
This allows using the available raw lens profile with JPEG images. To my knowledge Canon DSLR cameras do not apply distortion correction to JPEG images, so the raw profile should work well. You can check this by shooting raw+JPEG and comparing the two images inside LR
    3) Create you own lens profile using the Adobe Lens Profile Creator. (A complicated process, but it can be done!).
    4) Start shooting in raw mode or raw + JPEG mode, which will allow you to extract the most benefit from LR's processing controls.

  • Lens correction profile for the Canon 18-135 STM lens?

How or where can I get the lens correction profile for the new Canon STM lenses?

I see that lens listed in the release notes for the final Lightroom 4.2 update that just came out a few hours ago, so it looks like the answer is to download the update.

  • CR 8.2 doesn't come up with lens correction profile on Canon 6d with EF 24-105 L 4.0 IS/USM

    Dear community members,
Some weeks ago I bought my new Canon EOS 6D with a EF 24-105 L f/4.0 IS/USM lens an I am absolutely happy with them :-)
The only problem that I run in to is when I process my photographs in Camera Raw. The thing is that CR does not come up with a lens correction profile for de Canon 6D with the lens mentioned above.
I do find a profile of the 1D Mark III, but this one does not work very well on the RAWs from the Canon 6D.
Does any one know if and (when yes) where I can find the right profile for lens correction? At the Adobe site I could not find the profile van this camera in combination with this objective.
Or perhaps there is another way to apply automatic lens corrections on RAW;s from the Canon 6D with a EF 24-105?
Kind regards and many thanks in advance for your answers :-)

    Hello,
    Thanks for your advice.
I did download the DNG Coverter but it did not help. So I decided to uninstall Photoshop CS6 and reinstall it again on my Mac.
For uninstall I followed the following steps:
    -go to finder
-go to the Photoshop CS6 map
-dubbel click on the Adobe-uninstall icon
This worked perfectly well without any errors.
Now I am running into another problem, a problem with reinstalling PS CS6.
I don't have a cd-rom with PS on it, but I have a downloaded a .DMG file which I bought and downloaded from Adobe (I don't have a CD-player in my Mac). This should not be any problem. But what happens is this:
When I dubbel-click the .DMG-file (Photoshop_13_LS16.dmg) the normal installation window appears.
After dubbel-clicking Photshop CS6 icon the following screen appears:
After selecting the Install icon the following screen appears:
The error message is in Dutch and says: 'install' excists on the diskcopy 'Photoshop_13_LS16.dmg'. Safari downloaded this diskcopy on 2 July 2013
The two buttons say: " Cancel" and "Delete diskcopy file"
When I select "Cancel" the application stops and when I select "Delete diskcopy file" it removes the Install-file (from screenshot) and the application stops.
Could you please tell me what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Gozotxu

When can we get a Lightroom 4 Lens Corrections Profile for the new AF-S Nikon 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 G ED VR lens?

  • Is there a lens correction profile for Nikon D3100 18-55mm?

Is there a lens correction profile for Nikon D3100 18-55mm? I so don't know what I'm doing

The only profile I could see is a profile for the 18 - 55 mm for the D300.
As far as I know the sensor size is identical for the D3100 and D300, so you can use this this profile.
If the profile is not installed in the list of your Lr, you have to download it. In order to download it you have to download and install the Adobe lens profile installer first.
And before you can install the lens profile downloader, you need to download and install Adobe Air.
These two programs are for free and can be downloaded from Adobe's website.
Nothing is ever easy, is it?

  • I don't get the Lens Correction Profile for Sigma 10-20?

I see several postings of people discussing the lens profile for the Sigma 10-20. As a proud 10-20 owner, that is the first profile I looked for in LR3, but in my (trial) copy I don't seem to have it - there's only the DC4.5, DC18-200, DG8, DG12-24, and the DG15.
Where can I find the Sigma 10-20 lens correction profile that others are referring to?
    (Thanks!)

    Vinkjes wrote:
That is confusing.... So I cannot see/use the Sigma 10-20 lens profile on any jpg picture ... ?!?
Is there no Sigma profile for jpg available?
    Well....technically no.
However, I found this approach limiting so I converted all the Sigma-generated raw profiles to JPEG profiles.  Yes, they might not be perfect, but they work better than nothing (actually, way better than nothing).
Inside each profile lcp file, you'll find tags that look like this:
    <stCamera:CameraRawProfile>True</stCamera:CameraRawProfile>
    or this
    <stCamera:CameraRawProfile>False</stCamera:CameraRawProfile>
The first is for raw files, the second for JPEGs.  There can be many such tags in each lcp file.
What I did was copy all the Sigma-generated profiles and replace all those tags in the copies.  Voila!  JPEG profiles for Sigma lenses.

  • Photoshop CS6 No lens profiles (lens correction filter) for Canon 6D raw files

LightRoom and Camera Raw have profiles for Lens Correction and all the current available lens are  in the list for the Canon 6D raw files. BUT the Filter/Lens Correction when in Photoshop CS6 only have 2 Tamron lens listed. Odd that there are lens profiles for the Canon 6D raw files  in Lightroom and Camera RAW but not CS6 Filter/Lens Correction.
Camera RAW, LR and PS are up to date..... NOTE: I have a Canon 7D, G11 and 1D Mark II N and all their files work as expected. It's only RAW files created by the Canon 6D.
    Any suggestions.

To the right of where it says Search Criteria, click the little three-bars-arrow icon and uncheck Match Sensor Size and it should find more.

  • Does the lens correction profile for the Canon 24-70 eliminate all distortion?

The new Camera Raw seems excellent in the Lens Correction...I will be photographing dancers and will have only 9 feet to work with. I would like to use the widest lens I can with lens correction. The question is whether this new program will flatten out the 24mm lens or if I should use the 35.
    Roger Minkow

To add to Eric's great explanation, the corrections here are for barrel and pincushion distortion. That can be present in a lens of any focal length.
What isn't corrected is the effect in wide angle lenses where there is spreading of the image of three dimensional objects away from the center of the field. It happens at any distance, not just close up. It is caused by the extreme angle of projection from the back of the lens to the flat film/sensor plane. Think of a straight on photo of a building that has equal size columns across the facade with a wide angle lens. The columns at either end of the image appear wider than the (same width) columns in the middle. Retrofocus design wide angle lenses help a little bit (the rear of the lens is further from the focal plane than in a standard wide angle), but the distortion is usually there.
There is also distortion from being too close to the subject. Focal length doesn't really matter in that, except that longer lenses don't have the field of view to take in the close subject and can't usually focus that close. So we associate this distortion with wide angle lenses. This sort of distortion would be that where a person's nose in the middle of the frame looks very large and there is quick falloff in size to the eyes, ears, background. I think of this as more an issue of perspective, and this is controlled by camera placement, not by focal length or lens design.

Adobe does not announce release dates for new profiles. However, you can except that the next minor release upgrade after the release of the lens will bring the profile to LR.
