Lens correction works with my RAWs, but not my JPEGs?

Hi all, if I check "Enable Profile Corrections" for any of my RAW files, Lightroom automatically identifies the Make/Model/Profile of my lens. However for my JPEG files (same camera, same lens) when I check "Enable Profile Corrections" it defaults to none/none/none, and my lens doesn't even show up in the dropdown menus if I try to select it manually.
How can I get Lens Correction to work for JPEGs as it does for RAWs?

Update, got it working, sweet! I'll post what I did below, hopefully useful to somebody...
1) Probably the best thing would be to make my own Lens Profile -- http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/lensprofile_creator.html -- but I'm not quite ready for that now, I just wanted to make the built-in RAW profiles work for JPEG too.
2) I located the RAW profiles I wanted available as JPEG profiles, in this folder:
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\[MyCamera]\
3) In this folder:
C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\
4) I created the following subfolder:
C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\[MyCamera]\
5) I copied the RAW profile files from #2 above into this new folder.
6) I set the files to not be "read-only"
7) I opened those files into a text editor, and I performed a Find/Replace.
From: <stCamera:CameraRawProfile>True
To: <stCamera:CameraRawProfile>False
(Note that there are multiple instances, so I performed a Find/Replace ALL.)
8) I set the files back to "read-only" (probably not necessary)
And now when I turn on Lens Correction for a JPEG, it works! And it seems like my camera isn't performing any lens corrections (such as vignetting) when saving JPEGs, so it's pertty good as-is. Though, per #1 above, probably the best solution would be to make my own Lens Profiles from scratch.

I've spent a few hours googling and trying out various things - all listed below. I give up - any ideas??? OS: Windows 8.1 64bitMemory: 32GBWebCam: Microsoft VX-7000. As per subject - the webcam works with the "Camera" app but not with Skype for desktop or for Modern UI (or the Microsoft Lifecam software for that matter). In Skype for Modern UI the webcam doesn't appear in the drop down in Settings - so I can't even select it. In Skype for desktops (version 6.11.32.102) the webcam is found but instead of image I get "Can't start video. Try closing other programs that might be using your webcam". I see from a bit of googling that various people seem to have the same issue (i.e. Webcam works with Camera app but not Skype) - so I'm hopeful someone has found a workaround / fix to this issue and I've just not had the googling skills to find it Thanks, - Matt Symes

OK - I appear to have resolved the issue. I restricted my google terms to [vx-7000 site:microsoft.com "windows 8.1"] Which uncovered this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933311 I noticed there were a couple of Windows 7 x64 specific registry settings that were mentioned so I checked these and they weren't as per the article. In fact - one of the Registry Keys was already used by other software "AI Charger+" which is some ValueAdd software that came with my motherboard. I uninstalled AI Charger+, uninstalled LifeCam driver. Reinstalled LifeCam driver in Windows 7 compatibility mode. Still not working. I returned to the registry and noticed the settings still differed from the above article. I corrected them (which involved not just amending Data but having to add new Values). I then disabled and reenabled the LifeCam from dvcmgmt.msc I was then able to get video from the webcam in the Skype for Desktop preview screen.

Is this an Internal or External iSight ?
In iChat, in the Video Menu (This is to the right of Buddies and may read Audio) is Camera Enabled Ticked ?
If it reads Audio open the Connection Doctor from that same menu.
In the connection Doctor open the Capabilities tab
Does it say your Internet Connection is too slow ?
At this point I would need to know which iChat Version.
However also look in the View Menu.
Is Show VIdeo Status ticked ? (this shows green Icons next to your Buddy Pic and those of your Buddies
Next go to the iChat Menu > Preferences > Video Section
Do you see a preview here ?

2010 Imac 21.5 running 10.8.5. My firewire port works with ext hd but not with audio interface. The local authorized Apple tech said that I need a new motherboard, but my firewire ext drive works perfectly. I don't understand. Thanks.

You must go to the website of the audio interface manufacturer and look for, download and install updated drivers for the audio device you are using.
This is not, neccessarily, an Apple issue.

Enterprise Mgr works with one db but not the other

We have two Oracle 10g databases installed. Enterprise Manager works with the second, but not the first. I believe the problem started when we migrated the host server to another network domain. Everything else works fine, but I'm getting a page load failure when attempting to access enterprise mgr.
The second db was installed after the migration and EM works fine.
Can anyone tell me how to reconfigure this?

I just got the solution (that worked for me, anyway) from a Sony support rep. No PC or VMWare needed.
OK, you've installed Sony eBook Library v3, and Adobe Digital editions, you've set up your acocunts and authorized your computer on both of them, and you've authorized your Reader with the Sony Library application.
You go to the public library ebook download page, either through the Sony Library or just through a bookmark.
You check out a book, and open it in Adobe Digital Editions, which still won't recognize your Reader.
BUT, in the Sony Library app, you can now click "File, Import.." and go find the pdf you downloaded with the Adobe app.
On my Mac, it was in ~/Documents/Digital Editions
Import it, and drag it to your Reader.
The first time you do this, it will ask you to authorize the Reader with your Adobe ID.
Worked like a charm.

Can I have auto adjust for RAW, but not for JPEG?

I want auto adjust for RAW files, but NOT for JPEGs. I generate JPEGs from my adjusted RAWs and the last thing I want Bridge/ACR to do is to auto-adjust the generated JPEGs just because I looked at them in Bridge. Yet, I've been using auto-adjust on my RAW files for years and find it a useful starting point.
Is there any way to configure ACR 4 to do auto-adjust on RAW files, but not on JPEG files?

Anyone have any advice on this question? I like auto-adjust on RAW files. I like the idea of using ACR capabilities on some JPEGs, but letting ACR do auto-adjust on JPEGs that I generated from hand-tweaked RAW files just ruins the JPEGs completely. Thus, I'd like auto-adjust on RAWs, but not on JPEGs. Is there any way to do this?

Home sharing works with one account but not another?

My family has an apple tv, we've been having problems setting up the home sharing and tried everything. We eventually decided to try my brother's apple id instead of my mother's and it worked. So my question is; why does home sharing not work with one id but works with the other? any suggestions to get it to work with my mother's id?

Try resetting the Apple TV. enter your mother's ID again. Then remove her ID on iTunes and re-add it. Then see if it works this time.

Why does my Web Handler work with Internet Explorer, but not with Firefox

I am trying to develop a web page that uses the Simile Timeline (http://code.google.com/p/simile-widgets/wiki/Timeline) with data from SQL Server.
In initial testing of my timeline I tested it with Example.xml, a static XML file in the correct format to be event data. I wrote the following in the appropriate place within mytimeline's Javascript: -

This worked fine with both Firefox and Internet Explorer. I then changed the assignment to

so that invoked a web handler that could look up the SQL database and return the XML that I wanted, and wrote this web handler.
This works perfectly with Internet Explorer, but with FireFox the timeline band is blank. Yet when I examine the http traffic with Fiddler2 (http://www.fiddler2.com/fiddler2/) I see that with either browser there is a response from URL
/GDB_pages/GDBTimeline.ashx?Type=Family&Userid=robertb
that returns the XML that it is supposed to.
I have previously used web handlers with Firefox before, with no problems. The Fiddler results conclusively show that the web handler is invoked, and returns the appropriate XML, and this XML is identical to the XML from the static test with Example.xml.
Where do I start looking for answers? I don't even know if this is a Simile problem, a Firefox problem, or an ASP.NET problem.

Problem solved. The issue: Content Type was not correct.
Visual Studio creates the web handler with dummy code like this: -

I wrote a database query that set a string variable to the XML I wanted: -

Attempting to use certreq -enroll to enroll to a client authentication certificate works with Windows 8, but not with Windows 7...

This has been an issue for a while now. Trying to use certreq -enroll -machine [Template Name] on Windows 7 machines fails with not implemented. When I run this command with the -q flag I see that the certificate I want is unavailable and displays:
A valid certification authority (CA) configured to issue certificates based on this template cannot be located, or the CA does not support this operation, or the CA is not trusted.
When I go into the properties of this certificate and goto the Certification Authority tab and check the "Show all enrollment servers" it shows my server greyed out with this message:
The system could not determine if you can access this certificate. Not implemented.
The template sits on a enterprise 2003 server CA and this process works with Windows 8.1 machines. Which means that the template has the correct permissions and is issued correctly.
Is this a known issue with Windows 7 or am I missing something in the config? Help is greatly appreciated.

I have done some tests on a Windows 7 Enterprise machine and a Windows 8.1 Enterprise machine, it turns out that I have the same issue with you.
On the Windows 7 machines, I cannot use Certreq.exe to request machine certificates, but I can successfully request user certificates, and there is no issue with the Windows 8.1 machine.

Router Problem - Works with Windoze, Linux, but not with Mac

I can't seem to get any router to work with my Mac.
I've tried a Linksys 'b' router, a Netgear 'g' router and a Belkin 'g' router.
No joy.
When I connect my Mac directly to my cable modem (Motorola Surfboard), there are no issues. When I connect the router in between, the Mac pulls the proper ip address and I can ping the router, but I can't get any further. If I try to ping an outside ip address (such as the 4.2.2.2 dns) I get the error message "ping: sendto: Cannot allocate memory". [Does anyone know what this message means?]
A second computer (IBM NetVista) connects reliably using Windoze XP. The same machine, booted in CentOS also connects reliably (after disabling the firewall).
Note, these are all wired connections. I'm not even trying to use wireless yet. The cables all check out, since they all work in other configurations (the Mac->router cable is the same one I use for Mac->Surfboard, and the router->surfboard cable works when connecting from the NewVista machine.
I thought the Mac problems might be firewall related. I had "Brickhouse" installed,but it has since been removed. My network settings no long advise that there is any firewall software in place (previously Sharing > Firewall was greyed out with message that other firewall software was installed). Sharing > Firewall now reports "Firewall Off".
I know the routers work, since I can connect from the NetVista machine. I know the cables are good, because they all work in other configurations. I know the Mac is seeing the router, and the router is seeing the Mac because a correct ip address is pulled. I can even communicate between the machines (ftp,ssh) but I can't get internet access using the Mac through the router.
Oh yeah... one other oddity. When I have personal web sharing enabled, an attempt to access the router setup page at 192.168.1.1 fetches the local server index.html page instead of accessing the router. When web sharing is off, I get a "you are not connected to the internet" message.
Any insight?

Airport express works with windows xp but not OS Tiger

I’m a troubled man.
I have recently bought a new Mac pro along with an airport express. I am a first time user of Mac’s.
Here is my problem.
I use a DSL modem and my airport express is connected with the LED indicator in solid green. When I try to connect using my user name and password the “searching for POPPE sever appears at the top of my screen.” And after a few seconds “could not find POPPE server. This happens all the time. I tried to get air tunes working but itunes could not detect my airport express.
Now since I’m an engineer I needed to run auto cad on my Mac so I downloaded Bootcamp, partitioned my Macpro hard drive and installed windows XP on my Mac book pro and to my surprise windows xp found my airport and connected to the server straight away. So I experimented and download the xp version of itunes and what do you know the xp version of itunes detected my airport express and everthing worked fine for Windows! This suggests to me that the problem lies with the mac software as the airport express is working fine. Whats going on! I do not understand.
When I go back to tiger it sees my airport but cannot connect. I run the airport assistant but it cannot detect my airport. I run the utility airport program but it cannot see my airport express. I go back to windows XP everything works fine???????
If you can come up with a solution to this strange problem I would be very grateful.

The user name and password may be just fine but the dialer software for OS X may be quirky to the point where it doesn't work with your modem through an Airport connection. My recommendation is to try uninstalling the DSL dialing software from the computer and setting up the Express to do the dialing for you. Your computer connection then becomes straight Ethernet.
If that doesn't work, have you checked to see if there's a newer version of the OS X dialing software available?

Webcam working with USB 1, but not USB 2 port with NEC Chipset

On my sawtooth upgraded to 1.8 Mhz with 1G and a Radeo 9200 OS 10.4.9, I added a NEC Chipset USB 2.0 PCI.
My USB Camera Logitech Quickcam Notebook Pro 860 -000026, works fine with the USB 1.0 ports, but when I hook it to the USB 2.0 it get split screen, jumpy and flashes. Same for Skype or iChat.
USB works fine with printer, camera and mouse.
Any thoughts?

Just wanted to say I got hylafax to work with a usb modem on a powerbook, not sure if it's stable and user friendly enough to be used my a wide base here, but it's definitely cool, and it does work. I just wish it had LDAP/mysql integration, instead of the flat file business it has.
Anybody with any input on hylafax would be great.

HylaFax on OS X 10.4.7 Working with internal modem but not USB Modem

I have managed to configure and install HylaFax on a powerbook G4 with an internal fax/modem.
Only a couple of hangups to get that configuration to work.
As per the prerequisites outline here:HylaFax Prerequisites
You need the Xcode tools to use it's compiler.
The only other thing you may not have is:
libtiff
ghostscript
If you are running an x-serve you probably already have an MTA as well (postfix)
There are someOS X Specific install instructions of which I only had to follow the first couple, to create a user. Some of the latter instructions I found unecessary since startup is handled by launchd as far as I understand.
Before I compiled I had to put the hylafax source on a thumb drive, I know it seems wierd, but it worked. Something to do with the HFS+ format of the hard drive. But low and behold it worked. (the hylafax website mentions issues with other disk formatting besides UFS, but the fat32 formatted thumb drive worked for me)
A little side note:
You need to actually download the ghostscript fonts from the ghostscript project FTP site and mv them to the proper location:
/usr/local/share/ghostscript/8.54/fonts/
Once installed run:
/usr/local/sbin/faxsetup
It should prompt you to install your modems.
After doing this I had to start hylafax
#sudo /usr/local/sbin/hylfax start
and run a faxgetty command to enable incomming and outgoing
#sudo /usr/local/sbin/faxgetty ttys.modem
After doing so I was able to receive faxes and open them up with a pdf viewer, as well as send faxes via an application or printer driver on the mac and PC (windows xp with win hylafax print) Super SIMPLE! which is great for end users.
Okay so here is why I am actually posting on here. It is great that I got this working, but the final configuration will be on an x-serve that has no internal modem, and I would like to use more than one modem in case of high traffic incoming and outgoing. I purchased 2 apple usb fax/modems and when running faxaddmodem it even recognizes the modem, but never is fully able to use it like the internal modem. If anyone has any insight it would be great.
The issue I am seeing is that when I run
/usr/local/bin/faxstat -s
The modem says Waiting for modem to come ready

VGA adapter works with my iPad3 but not my iPhone4

I just purchased a VGA Adapter from Apple. It seems to work fine when connected to my iPad3 but I have been unable to get it to work with my iPhone4. The monitor shows a 1024x768 signal is being received but the iPhone screen does not appear on the monitor. Is there something I need to configure to get the iPhone4 to project an image on the VGA monitor?

Iphone4 dont support mirror so only when Apps which support av out is used Will it display out of the vga port
