Lens incorrectly recognised following update to Digital Camera RAW 4.03

I have a Canon 5D II and use a Sigma 12-24 DG HSM II lens with it.
My lens used to be identified in Aperture 3 as "Unknown (137) 12-24mm' until I updated to the latest Digital Camera RAW Compatibility 4.03.
Now the lens is incorrectly identified as Sigma 8-16mm with 1.4x converter.
Has anyone come across this issue or knows how to resolve this?
Using other softwares, the lens gets correctly recognised as 12-24mm.

I'd suggest you use Aperture's "send feedback" mechanism to report this.

Because something is wrong.  Most likely, either:
    (1) your Mac OS X Startup disk is damaged and you need to repair or reinstall OS X,
         - or -
    (2) you are not following the correct update workflow and should use the help from this Apple article.
For instance, if you are trying to update via  > Software Update..., restart Mac and download and install the Download Center version: Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.04.

  • "Pink Hue" after updating to Digital Camera RAW 4.08

    Hello,
Anyone else is getting "Pink Hue" in Preview (Quick Look and Preview app) for RAW images on OSX 10.8.4 after updating to Digital Camera RAW 4.08 ?
The Thumbnails of the pictures are showing up fine, and I'm not facing this issue on my other Mac running Mac OSX 10.7.5 (MacBook Mid 2010).
    Thank you..

UPDATE: I have contacted Apple Care, they asked me to delete RawCamera.bundle and RawCameraSupport.bundle  from /System/Library/CoreServices then install Digital Camera Raw 4.07 from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1666?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
RAW pictures are showing up normally now, it appears to be a bug. They sent a request of this to the engineering team.

  • Unable to update to Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.03

This is probably an Apple Update issue, but is anyone else experieincing a greyed out Update button.  I restarted and the update button was available again.  Initieated download, but got no message about installing our any success in updating it, so for now it remains in my update available pane for several days.  Real pain!  Any ideas on how to force or troubleshoot this update issue?  Running Mavericks 10.9.1

What is your Aperture version? Is it compatible with the latest raw support? At least Aperture 9.4.5
Any ideas on how to force or troubleshoot this update issue?
Have you checked, if the update has actually been installed? You can see in the "About" panel the version of raw support that Aperture is using.
If the raw support has not been installed, try to download it from the Support page:
Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.03  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1717
Sometimes you can recover unfinished downloads by using the menu item "Store > Check for unfinished downloads" in the App Store menu.

  • Is every Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update necessary?

Knowledge base doc (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3825) says  “Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard provides system-level support for digital camera RAW formats.” so I assume a system update includes Digital Camera RAW Combatibility updates.
Before I updated from 10.6.6 to 10.6.8, SU showed I needed Dig Cam RAW Com update 3.7 which I didn’t do.  After the update to 10.6.8, I needed 3.12 so v3.7 through 3.11 must have been included in the OS X update.  Before I got around to doing 3.12, I found SU showed 3.13; I assume each update includes the past ones as well.
My cameras, Samsung Pro 815s, predate the updates.
I continue to do the updates thnking there might be some unmentioned secuirity issues included in the update that are not mentioned, but -- really -- is it necessary to keep doing these particular updates?
Do folks continue to do these ad infinitum as new cameras are added?
Should I eventually purchase different cameras, could I then find the relevant update and just install it?

In my first post I mentioned:
Before I got around to doing 3.12, I found SU showed 3.13; I assume each update includes the past ones as well.
You, TD, kindly added this information - thank you:
Further, Camera Raw updates get rolled into the next OS update anyway, so the next time you update your OS you catch up anyway.
However, I’m running 10.6.8 and probably staying there - so no more OS updates for me.
I do updates manually checking SU first.
As I said above, when I didn’t do 3.12 update (but I did download the installer), it was later replaced in SU by 3.13.
It really is not a big deal, but just a matter of curiosity - do you know if the update for 3.12 was included in 3.13?  (The list of supported cameras for 3.13 does not include the one for 3.12.)
As I said, it matters not, just curious how smart SU really is (because I have another really big issue with SU and am just waiting to ask that question later...)
    Thanks again,
    Mrs H

  • Recurring digital camera raw compatibility update offer

Hi for the last few months I keep getting an update offer for digital camera raw. I haven't got a compatible camera, I have even clicked on the update thinking that would be the end of it, but I am offered the update time and again. Now it not a major problem to just un-tick it when its offered, today with the latest update I was also offered to update the digital camera raw. Now my ? is there a way to stop being offered this update. Thanks

Rerun Software Update, select this one, and select ignore. Won't come back unless you restore ignores.

Hi I was going through software update and this message popped up "The update “Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update” can’t be saved." How do I fix this? Thanks!

I don't have a direct answer for you, but if Software Update shows that update as "Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.6", you can download and install it yourself here:

  • Digital Camera RAW Update 5.02 breaks Sony RX100 lens distortion correction (AGAIN!)

Just like with the Digital Camera RAW Update 4.08, the latest 5.02 update breaks the Sony RX100 lens distortion correction again. I'm reverted back to 5.01 until this is fixed.
From your Time Machine backup, restore the previous versions of
    /System/Library/CoreServices/RawCamera.bundle
    /System/Library/CoreServices/RawCameraSupport.bundle

Yes, I noticed it too, but I wasn't certain it was 5.02 that did it as I sold my RX100 and haven't processes any files for a while. Then as part of the NR discussion here I looked at some old RX100 files, and the distortion correction now disappears. Unfortunately I can't really revert to 5.01 because I was waiting on the A7 support 5.02 brought.
Apple are aware of it, so hopefully the fix will be quick to arrive.

  • Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.03

Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 5.03This update adds RAW image compatibility for additional cameras to Aperture 3 and iPhoto '11. Jan 16, 2014
This update adds RAW image compatibility for the following camera to Aperture 3 and iPhoto '11:
    Canon EOS M2
    It also includes fixes that:
Resolve an issue that prevented lens correction from working properly with Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 images
Address a color cast issue on some Olympus OM-D E-M1 images

I think this update has been released quickly to resolve the RX100 and EM-1 issues, which were quite serious for users of those cameras.
We don't really know what Apple is working on, but on past experience there is usually a reason why they take their time. Support for Fuji X100 and X-Trans showed the benefits of this. Ligthrooms support for X100 was incomplete and the initial support for X-Trans was quite woeful. The Fuji forum at DPR had a lot of disapointed users, so while they got support faster, they continued to shoot Raw+JPEG and use the JPEGs. I don't know much about Pentax's JPEG engine though. In contrast, when X-Trans support finally came to Aperture, it made a much better job of retaining detail and reducing the colour bleeds, still not perfect but much better.
So while I understand your frustration, you can perharps take a little comfort in anticipating it will probably be worth the wait.
If I were adding support for the K3, the thing that would trip me up is the switchable AA filter. This essentially means it's going to need different demosaicing parameters based on the AA filter setting. It will be interesting to see if any reports start to appear about how well Lightroom is handling that aspect.

  • Canon EOS 100D is listed as compatible in Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 6.01 but when I connect my camera a message appears telling it's not compatible with the operating system?

Canon EOS 100D is listed as compatible in Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 6.01 and when I have checked for software updates there are none available.  I've downloaded the Canon software, connected to my mac via the cable and followed the instructions in the manual.  Sadly I just get a message saying it's not compatible with the operating system.  I've tried inserting the memory card into the mac to and it doesn't seem to see it.  Can anyone help please?

Camera RAW ≠ Camera driver, the RAW update is for the .CR2 canon raw image file (in your case) compatibility.
What happens when you try to import photos using Image Capture or iPhoto?
Can you take a screenshot of the error message?
I always prefer and recommend using memory card import over using the camera.

  • Digital Camera Raw Update

TUAW reports there's a new update to support more digital cameras. I didn't see a thread here, so I thought I'd share in case some of you were waiting for support.
Apple has released Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 3.1 via Software Update. The update can also be downloaded here. The 6.77 MB (web) or 7.2 MB (Software Update) update requires Mac OS X 10.5.8 or 10.6.2, and extends RAW image compatibility for Aperture 3 and iPhoto '09 for the following cameras:
    o. Hasselblad H3DII-50
    o. Leica M9
    o. Leica X1
    o. Olympus E-P1
    o. Olympus E-P2
    o. Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1
    o. Pentax K-7
    o. Pentax K-x
    o. Sony Alpha DSLR-A500
    o. Sony Alpha DSLR-A550
    o. Sony Alpha DSLR-A850

I am running Aperture 2, and iPhoto 09, with a Pentax Kx.
Either the 3.1 update, or the ProKit upgrade, killed reading of my DNG files in Aperture.
Although Software Update shows them as recommended for iPhoto 9 and Aperture users, I would suggest passing on them if you are still in Aperture 2.

  • Digital Camera RAW update 2.1 (requires 10.5.3) XSi/450D support:

    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/digitalcamerarawcompatibilityupdate21.htm l
Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.1
About Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 2.
This update extends RAW file compatibility for Aperture 2 and iPhoto ’08 for the following cameras:
Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi/Kiss Digital x2/450D
    Epson R-D1
    Leaf AFi 7
    Leaf AFi 6
    Leaf AFi 5
    Pentax K200D
    Pentax K20D

Firstly, the best method I have found (superior to Adobe Import/Convert/Export) is to install the software from the A300 CD - I know, blasphemy. Anyhow, you can delete all except for the RAW Image Converter, which lets you do raw editing, its decent, and then export into whatever file type and size that is convenient for you, though its not the same as native Raw support, I know.
Quirks: Not many, its a great camera, I've had mine for about a month and a half now. The AF Assist light drains battery like an electric car, and I can't say that I totally appreciate the inability to invert the focus ring direction. Ergonomics whilst wearing glasses is mediocre at best and your screen will get dirty - you'll have to deal with it. Otherwise, its absolutely an amazing camera, DO NOT RETURN YOURS!!! As you can see, there are a few quirks, but if I were to write down its positives above cameras prices three times as much, the list would take up pages. keep it, its too good to care for the little things like that.

  • Can't install Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.2

Software Update wants to install Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.2, but it always fails, saying: "The update “Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update” can’t be saved. You do not have appropriate access privileges. The Installer package has been moved to the Trash. To try again, open the package from the Finder."
I've tried doing Repair Permissions in Disk Utility, but this has not helped. I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.5, all other recent updates have gone in fine.

I had the same problem. Deleting the contents of the HD/library/Updates worked.
Never the less I noticed that the permission set was different:
Original permission set: admin R&W, admin R only, everyone R only.
I also followed the Alias and found two files with the same permissions.
Re-downloading (via software update) revealed a new permission set:
(Me) R&W, Admin R&W, everyone Read only
In both the alias and the two files downloaded. Note that (Me) denotes your user with administrator access.
I believe that, since the update was downloaded automatically, the permissions were mismatched and instead of adding a system R&W privileges it added a second Admin Read only permission.
Adding an administrator user with read and write permissions should solve the problem (as long as you authenticate as that particular administrator when prompted for intall authorization).
    Regards, Jaime.

  • Digital Camera Raw Compatibility update installation issues.

I have attempted to install the Digital Camera Raw Compatibility update 6.01 but I am being asked over and over to restart my Mac Pro. The app store shows that I still need to install the update.

I was surprised to see it listed.
I don't have a shiny new Leica  .  Will have to make do with my shiny new RX1R  .
    (Added:)
I don't follow Medium-Format equipment, but a quick check tells me the Pentax 645D came out in 2010.
