Lens Profile for Lumix ZS25

Hello,
I'm new to these forums and still coming up to speed with Lightroom (love it so far!).  I recently purchased a Lumix ZS25 and there isn't a profile in Lightroom for Panasonic cameras.  I did see several Leica profiles (my camera has a Leica lens).  Just wondering if you skip lens correction if your profile isn't offered, or if anyone knows the specs to create a custom lens correction for my model.
Thanks for your help!!

Are you seeing substantial vignetting or geometric distortions that suggest there is no lens profile being used, or are you just bothered by the lack of your lens in the listing, and assume that means there are no corrections being applied?
The lens profiles you see in the list are typically for raw-format images from DSLR-type cameras with removable and interchangeable lenses.
From pictures I see of it online, the ZS25 appears to have a built-in lens that cannot be removed and from the reviews it appears that iamges are only in JPG format.
For raw format images from a camera that has a built-in, non-removeable lens, LR typically would do the lens-correections automatically if the camera already does lens corrections automatically for its own JPGs, so there is no reason to include a lens-profile in the list since it cannot be turned off.

can't find my lens profile for Lumix Fz 1000, on Lightroom 5

You can't download it. The lens corrections are included in the photo by the camera, which are read and automatically applied by Lightroom during import. In other words, the photos you see after import are already lens corrected.

  • Lightroom Profiles for Lumix GX7?

I'm trying out various programs for RAW processing using my new Lumix GX7. I quite like DXO Optics Pro 9 due to the camera and lens profiles for my equipment. However, it has limited functionality compared to Lightroom 5.6 which I'm also trying.
I note the resources folder for Lightroom contains the file Panasonic DMC-GX7 Adobe Standard.dcp which appears to support the GX7. However, the Adobe folder does not contain any lens profiles for my Panasonic or Olympus lenses.
Does Lightroom correct aberrations in these lenses in a similar fashion to DXO Optics Pro without me having to do anything? If I need a Lightroom lens profiles for Panasonic & Olympus lenses, where do I find these since they do not appear to be installed by Lightroom 5.6?

Thanks, I can now see that the Lightroom RAW image is very similar to the DXO Optics Pro RAW image with distortion correction enabled in DXO Optics Pro. I can see a slightly wider FOV and more distorted image when the DXO Optics Pro distortion correction is turned off compared to Lightroom. Lightroom is obviously correcting the image distortion, although this is not obvious from the user interface. These results are using my Oly 9-18mm Micro 4/3 zoom at 9mm where the distortion is most evident.
I have another curious query regarding "dead pixels" and DXO Optics Pro some of you may interested in commenting on at Lumix GX7 - Black / Dead Pixels: Micro Four Thirds Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review
DXO Optics Pro marks various RAW pixels with a magenta cross with noise processing disabled and ACDSee Pro shows them as a black dot. I'm still unsure whether these are "dead pixels" or just pixels marked for particular analysis. Lightroom, SilkyPix and RawThreapee mentioned above have no "dead pixels" on initial RAW image import. Very curious.
My personal preference for image rendering is DXO Optics Pro (despite the "dead pixel" issue) but I quite like Lightroom's cataloguing functionality.

  • Is there a lens profile for Samyang 14mm and Canon 5D2 ?

    Hi !
I'm thinking about buying a new Samyang / Rokinon / Bower etc 14mm wide angle full frame lens.
However, this lens has bad moustache distortion on stills images - not good for architecture.
Is there an Adobe lens profile for Adobe Camera Raw (Photoshop CS6 Bridge) for full frame Canon 5D2 / 3 or 1Ds 3 etc ?
It's needed for Mac - don't know if there is any difference.
Advice before I buy would be much appreciated ...

Yay that's great news ... and thanks for such a speedy reply.
Didn't know about the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader ... so have just downloaded it for Mac and found the lens profile.
Appreciate your help ... it'll hopefully be great for correcting the distorion i need.

    Awesome, thanks for that.
One last thing, I created a folder for the profile
    C:\Users\Richard\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\Samyang\Samyang14mm.lcp
but the profile doesn't show up under Make Samyang as expected, instead it is at the bottom of Canon, with Model Samyang 14mm.

re lightroom: I dont see the lens profile for my SIGMA 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM, how do I add it?

The profile for that lens is available for both Canon and Nikon. I didn't look at other brands. But the profile is for raw files only. Is the file you are using a raw file?

  • Hello, Can you tell me where I can found the lens profil for the Canon 500MM F4 Mark II

Can some one tell me where I could find this lens profile for Lightroom 5.4.
    thanks

Given the 600mm F4 IS II (February 2011) lens profile hasn't been created yet it may be a while (if ever). I wouldn't worry about it since the lens profile only corrects distortion and vignetting. There is virtually no distortion with either of these lenses and vignetting is within 0.2EV using the 600mm profile, which you can set as the "default" profile. Personally I think people put too much emphasis on the need for "automatic" lens profile correction. All my lens profile defaults are set to Distortion = 0 and Vignetting = 50. I change the setting only when an image appears to need more correction. WHY?
    REASON
Distortion correction crops part of the image and increases "edge" stretching with wide angle lenses–It's a trade-off for straight lines in the image. IMHO-If it's not visible in the image you don't need it. 100% Vignetting correction setting can look un-natural and amplifies lens aberrations and softness in the corners, which is where vignetting correction is applied the most.
    My 2 cents worth.

  • Camera RAW v7.3:Lens Profile for Nikkor DX 17-55mm

    Hi,
LR v4.3 correctly reads from NEF the lens Metadata like: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED. This lens profile is properly assigned to the corresponding NEF file.
Still in LR when converting the same image (via export dialog) to TIF, again this lens profile is used and reflected in the TIF-output (including metadata). So far so good.
When converting the same image in Nikon Capture NX2 of course the lens profile (as set in LR) is NOT reflected in the TIF-output. This (should) can be taken care of by enabling a lens profile correction in LR (after import TIF into LR).
The thing is that LR suggests to apply a profile for lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G IF-ED. This profile is probably not the same as for the 17-55mm lens.
Unfortunately a profile for the Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED is not listed in the selection options.
    Question is:
    How can I best obtain a proper profile for the lens: Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED ?
I find it strange that Camera RAW v7.3 has the proper lens profile for the NEF but suggest another profile for the TIF version of the same file. Apparently the profile is available for NEF but not for the TIF.
    How comes?
Would appreciate to receive some reasoning and possible solutions.
    Thanks, Hans.

    My findings:
The lens profile in ACR is for RAW files.
For converted files (TIF, JPG, etc.) a different lens profile applies.
Reason(s): The metadata of the TIF-file is not specific enough about lens profiles. (Lens profiles would need to be embedded - they are not).
For example: Has the TIF-file been converted from RAW using a profile or not? If so, the specific name of the lens profile and it's physical location would be needed.
Meanwhile it makes sense for me that this part is left to the user.
The Adobe LensProfile Creator allows to produce a suitable profile for specific needs.
For many popular lenses there is a non-RAW lensprofile (for TIF, JPG etc.) available that might be applied by the user.
Thanks 'Geoff the kiwi' you lead me onto the right path to find the answers to my questions.

  • Looking for lightroom lens profile for tamron lens

I am using lightroom 5 at work and shot some images with a canon 5d2 body with tamron 24-70 2.8 vc and tamron 70-200 2.8 vc lense. According to the note below, both lens are supported since lightroom 4.1.  However I can not find the profile of these two lens on lightroom 5.  Does anyone how I can bring the profile back in?  Thanks.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/lens-profile-support-lightroom-4.html

The ProgramData folders are for Photoshop and are probably as old as the newest version of PS or DNG Converter you have.
The lens profiles for Lightroom 4 and 5 are under LR's Resources subfolder:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom x.x\Resources\LensProfiles\1.0\
(x.x = whatever version of LR you have)
For my LR 4.4  I have the following 16 subfolders under LensProfiles\1.0:
    Apple
    Canon
    Fujifilm
    Hasselblad
    Leica
    Mamiya
    Nikon
    Pentax
    Phase One
    Samsung
    Schneider
    Sigma
    Sony
    Tamron
    Tokina
    Zeiss
LR 5.3 adds DJI and GoPro as manufacturers for a total of 18 subfolders.

There is a repository, it's accessible through CS5's lens correction plugin, and there doesn't appear to be one for this lens at that spot at the moment.

  • Lens profile for Sony A900 carl zeiss vario sonnar 24 - 70 zoom?

Is there a lens profile for the Sony A900 Carl Zeiss vario sonnar 24 - 70 zoom lens in Photoshop CS5 camera RAW? I have the latest update, the Sony is an old camera now and the CZ zoom is similarly old, beautiful thing to use but doesnt seem to be supported in camera RAW profiles or lens correction filter in CS5. I'm about to use RAW to process around 10 sets of 5 exposures to create files for HDR and want to syncronise the correction to each group of images before I begin to process them, after HDR process I intend to create a pano out of them so its imporrtant to get the lens correction done right at the start and applied identically to each image. Thing is that if I look in the Sony profile theres only a few lenses but no Carl Zeiss, if I look in Carl Zeiss it doesnt list the Sonnar 24 - 70.
    Any solutions?

It appears  a lens profile is available for this lens using the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader. The profile does not have to be created with your camera model, just a model with the same crop factor or smaller camera sensor. This one is for a 1.5 crop factor APS-C sensor size.
The 24-70mm is available as well for a 1.0 Crop camera, which will also work with a 1.5 crop body.
