Lenses in CS5

Does anyone have a definitive list of lenses that are installed in CS5 Le
ns correction or ACR6.1?  My fixed focal le
ngth Canon lenses don't appear to be there despite the fact that they are cu
rrent lenses

How are we going to be able to get the new lenses that are added?

We are using Adobe Bridge CS5. How do you display the lens used to take the photo (70-200mm, 17-40mm, 400mm, 24-120mm, etc.) on thumbnail before editing?

In Basic there is still a lot to wish for in Bridge but in all honesty since CS4 Adobe has not shown much interest in developing it further and adding new features many wished for.
You can always add your wish for new features using the Photoshop family .com page, the more that wish the better chance it eventually get realized, but beware, don't hold your breath…
That said, while it seems logic in your workflow it is also a fact that not all lenses are capable of producing the needed metadata, nor is it standardized info

Cannot open camera RAW images from Sony DSC-RX100M3 camera.  Working on a Mac with Photoshop CS5 and Camera Raw 6.7?

    Bruce,
When I made the transition to digital some 8 years ago, I had tremendous help from a number of well documented websites, among which:
    http://www.luminous-landscape.com
I think a lot of stuff there to get you seriously going. Another one is:
    http://www.computer-darkroom.com
I sold all my film based stuff, except a Nikon F3 and a handful of lenses and a Paterson developing tank.
The Nikon suspiciously smells like foam mirror damping strips chemically decaying.
I sold my enlarger over the internet. The word "enlarger" caused me to be on SpamCops blacklist for a while.
I'm in this since the seventies, and I think you'll be as amazed as I was at the possibilities and control you have. And no more bags with $300 worth of film that's consumed in one shoot.
Jump in both feet! you won't be sorry. And these forums are the best help you can get.
    Good luck,
    Rob

  • Photograph - Photoshop CS5 Cloning

I have been using the new CS5 photoshop for about 6 months. I have a grasp on the basics of cloning/healing inc the new content aware fill (which is great). I can get good results on simple cloning but on complex stuff I really struggle.
I could do with some assistance if someone could spare the time.
I have an image with of a pair of sunglasses. Arguably I should have setup the shoot better to remove the stuff in the right hand lens. But I didnt. I would like to know some tips on making a realistic touch up of the lens. I have tried several things from spot cloning to patch heal. Even trying to make a new lense with grad colours. The end result is always the same. Too soft, blurred and artificial looking result.
Here is the Hi-Res original with the reflection I wish to remove:

I'd really appreciate some advice on the topic.
    many thanks in advance.

You mean if you didn't want the magenta part in there at all?  About the same thing...  Paint it gently, smoothly, with the colors in the surrounding area.  That may be a bit more challenging to make look natural, but it can be done I imagine.
But frankly that magenta section of color looks kind of neat in there.  Very eye-catching.  You might want to think twice before you try to make the reflection look too blank.
If the magenta color is the problem itself, you could try using a brush set to Color mode, with which you could change the color but leave the luminance of the reflection in place.
Another completely different option is to replace the entire content of the lens with a photograph that's been spherically distorted.  Usually an image taken through a wide angle (e.g., fisheye) lens would be good to start with, since these lenses are convex.  Where do you want the prospective buyer to imagine he/she is?  On the beach?  In the mountains?

  • I have a Lumix G2 camera with two lenses, when I take RAw pics I Convert them using the Adobe RAW co

I have a Lumix G2 camera with two lenses, when I take RAw pics I Convert them using the Adobe RAW converter. Now I have bought a Lumix 25 macro lens and it will not convert these pics into a readable file

That's strange.  The lens shouldn't have made any difference.  Does the camera do JPG OK with that lens fitted?  Did the samera come with software to convert RAW files, and if so, does it work on the problem files?
When I checked your camera against this list, I see it has two entries for the required version, so I suspect that the lens electronics require a slightly later version of ACR.  If I am right, you'll have Camera RAW 5.7 and you need 6.1  So what version of Photoshop do you have?  You need CS5 to support ACR 5.#
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
If you have CS4, then you'll need to install the latest DNG conversion software, which is free.  You'll then be able to open the files in Photoshop CS4

  • Request a Nikon lense profile for ACR 6.1?

I apologize if this should be posted somewhere else. I did not think the feature request qualified.
I am using a Nikon D80 with a 'AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED' lense and it is not in the current list of profiled lenses in ACR 6.1 RC-1.
Is it possible to request inclusion of this lense in the database, or is it just too old or not professional enough?
If not possible to include, can I assume that I need to build my own profile?
I do own a copy of PT Lens which has the profile, so not a huge deal - but; I would love to stay in ACR and then go direct to PS.
Running current PS CS5 on Mac Pro (Early 2008) and OS X (10.6.3).
Vanilla installs of all software other than the ACR 6.1 RC (only third-party PS plug-ins are current versions of PT Lens and Photomatix Pro).
Thanks for any info, or a shove in the right direction for posting.

Thank you for responding and I certainly understand.
I really want to thank all the Adobe employees and other experienced individuals who are helping us. It is very much appreciated and a breath of fresh air compared to some other big company forums where responses from employees are either extremely rare or non-existent.
I am enjoying PS CS5 and know all the small bugs will be worked out in time and the features we depend on will receive the polish they deserve (or at least that has been my experience since PS 6).
Thanks again and I will either use PT Lens in the interim or perhaps see what I can do with the profile creator.
Love the new additions to ACR!

  • Where can I download the lense correction profile for a DJI Phanton 2 Vision for CS3?

where can I download the lense correction profile for a DJI Phanton 2 Vision for CS3?

    Hi,
Photoshop cs3 doesn't support lens correction profiles, that started with photoshop cs5.
Photoshop cs6, photoshop cc and lightroom 5.4 have a lens correction profile for the DJI Phanton 2 Vision

  • Profiles for manual (no-exif) lenses

    Hello,
I'd like to make a number of profiles for manual lenses. I know I can define various focal point sets (like 20cm, 1.5m, 10m). That's nice. But I'd also like to make profiles for a number of f-stops (2.0, 5.6, 11). Is it possible in one profile?

After some trials I have implemented a method
that's OK for me but that is not recommended
for casual users. Make copies before !
I Use ExifToolGUI (free tool) to insert
f-stop and focal length into the DNGs
    related to the charts.
LPC does his job and creates a single
    profile .
    Then for images to correct
either you use the CS5 Filter and right-click
    to select the assumed parameters
(images remain intact, doesn't work for ACR[no right click]),
or you have to insert assumed parameters
    into the input images
(images are modified, works in CS5 and ACR).
The Adobe method is fine too !

  • How can I find Nikon D800 in PS CS5 lens correction filter?

How can I find Nikon D800 in PS CS5 lens correction filter? I have version 12.0.4 and Camera Raw 6.7.0.339.

I see your question and wondered about it.
This is assuming that you know that in addition to the 18-55 issued with D3000's that there are other lenses in which to invest and with which to exploire.....
Using  a D800 and CC PS 14.2.1 x64 and latest Camera Raw  8.4.1.200 I opened the lens correction filters.
There are lens correction tools in Raw for which no body selection is offered, just lens types.  Which lens are you using?
In CC PS (Upgraded from PS5 or PS6 to CreativeCloud ("CC") PS with nice2 year discount offer from Adobe) there is a separate lens correction filter tool:
    Options/settings
    Manufacturer:  NIKON
Model Options do not include D800 at this time
(Options D3, D300s, D3X, D4, & D700) Only the D300s is a crop frame CCD here as opposed to full frame 3, 4, 700, or our 800s.  I would not set the model to any known crop frame (APS-C size CCD)
Searching adobe forums, it appears that camera body specific entries are only added for known problems.
Leaving the model set to Nikon (as opposed to all) allows for selection of specific lenses for a very broad gamut including grails like the OTUS.
I am guessing that there is no identified lens/camera-body specific peculiarity requiring a specific entry for the D800.  This is something to watch over time and possibly to ask Adobe Directly.
I am now piqued to know.

  • CS5 and stitching

Just out of curiosity, I'm wondering if the new Photoshop CS5 changes/improves anything in relation to its stitching capabilities...?
I'm a landscape photographer and I would like to more fully take advantage of the stitching opportunities and capabilities of Photoshop.  Just wondering if anything new has been added to the latest version of Photoshop (as opposed to my CS3 version, which I've been using for quite a while now, of course).
Thanks in advance for any and all info!

    Hi Hud,
Hmm, sounds like the Paul Newman movie.
My PTgui is very old now. Joost has a 64 bit version that looks pretty souped up and I would love to have it.
Yeah, I have lost a few shots my not locking the camera settings but I learned a long time ago to do it, and
it will save your butt. Both of the camera bodies I have only shoot 6.3 mgp so it limits my printing size to about
11" tall and what ever length it goes to. Its fun when I can find something interesting to shoot. Lately is all just
school work and I am tired all the time from it.
I just worked over a single IR shot I did with the Canon 10D. The big issue is the noise. I converted the image
to CMYK to look at the channels and found a way to balance the yellow and red so the noise is minimalized in the
sky. I could not do it well in RGB. It shows up in the sky more and I like smooth skies. Previously I had used the
blur tool to soften the noise in the background and then sharpen the forgrounds subjects.
The new issue of Color is out and it has some nice images in it.
BTW, there is a new hardcover edition of the color photography of Ansel Adams. Check it out. I love his hilltop
Colorama! I would love to shoot images like that but suspect it would take a Brightlite size sensor to achieve it.

    Subject: Re: CS5 and stitching
Your PT is newer than mine. I would have had to pay for the upgrade, but even by the time CS3 arrived, I decided that most of my stitching does quite well between both tools.
On CS5 take a set of images previously stitched in PT, redo the stitch in CS5 using the Auto(Default) button and checking the Geometry check box at the bottom. So far as the vignette check box, I found no difference checked or unchecked.
I also use DXO for lens correction which includes vignetting correction based on camera and lens combo. Again, doing stitching with either an uncorrected set or one that is corrected, there is a difference but sometimes I prefer the corrected, sometimes the uncorrected. I'll be interested in what CS5 can do when that feature is unleashed. I hope I can turn it off before stitching, if I so desire! And I also hope that it isn't auto on everything, because it will likely double correct the dxo files!
Using pano to generate a grid and not just a panorama is a great way to up the quality from early digital sources. But I stand by my comments that, given optics capable of generating the same angle of view as a single shot, or through collected frames as a grid, the D80 showed improvement at the 16x20 print size, the D90, practically none.I believe it has to do as much with intrinsic noise as optical properties, and at 1600 ISO, D90, I would do a set to stitch as a backup on important shoots.
A caveat: I have lost a fine set of images to stitch because one frame lacked the sharpness of the others, even using VR lenses. So be careful. Nothing more ghastly than a great image with inexplicable lack of sharpness in a portion of the final!

  • Tell if CS5 or CS5.5 at a glance?

Is there a way to know if an After Effects Project File is CS5 or CS5.5 at a glance? I mean by just clicking on the info or something? (Running a Mac). I have 5.5 and I down save them to 5 to send them to people and I was wondering if there was a faster way to tell than just opening every single file and checking it in AE. Thanks!

If you open an AEP file in a text editor like BBEdit you can actually
see which version of AE created it by looking in the meta data at the
    end of the file:
    <xmp:CreatorTool>Adobe After Effects CS5.5 10.5 Macintosh 64</xmp:CreatorTool>
I can't find anything in the file that shows which version of file it
    was saved as, though...
Opening a binary file like this in a text editor always comes with a
risk of you accidentally changing something that will make your file
    corrupt, so be careful.

  • DW CS5 will not open pages from local view sidebar

Using the latest DW and having a major issue. Sites are visible through manage sites; all is fine with settings. However, when I open a site to edit, if I try to click on the right side (local view) to open the html pages, DW gives me an error message - for example -  "HD/user/site/xxxx.html not found" but if I open the file from the menu, it opens. I can edit but not "put" the file or add to the remote server manually. I thought one of the site's files was corrupt but then I realized it's happening for all my sites (which work fine on my laptop - also running same version of DW). Is one of the DW settings off? Should I reinstall? Has anyone encountered this issue? Thanks in advance.

Well, I don't have CS5 and I've never seen this problem before, but I would start with deleting and then re-creating the site definition.

  • After Effects CS5.5 Wont Open - Application Just Bounces In The Dock.

    Hi all,
I appear to have encountered a problem with After Effects... I was working on a project earlier today which usalizes a VideoCopilot plug-in called Element 3D. After a quick break I came back to the project and attempted to load in the 'Free Earth Project' by VideoCopilot. (http://www.videocopilot.net/blog/2012/08/free-earth-project-for-element-3d/). As their site suggests, I had to place a downloaded project folder called 'Earth' into Element 3D's 'My_Models' folder. Immediately after this I tried loading After Effects and encountered the issue. I'm not sure if it's couincidence or directly related which is why I am posting here.
After Effects does nothing but bounce in the Dock. When I right-click the application I'm met with a 'Force Quit' option, and a message saying "Application not responding". I'm on OS X 10.7.4. I'm not able to tell you what version of AE I'm running, only that it's CS5.5, as I cannot lanch it to find out. All other Adobe products work with no problem.
I have already contacted the support team at VideoCopilot and they have sent me an updated build of Element 3D in an attempt to resolve the issue, unfortunately though this did not work. Addiitonally, I have tried booting into Safe-Mode and tried to launch the application from there, as well as using Disk-Utility to 'Repair Permissions'. All of these steps have failed to get AE working again.
If anyone knows of a way to fix this I would be most grateful. I'm working to a very tight deadline and am afraid that I will miss it. Additionally, if anyone has any fixes that doesn't require reinstalling applications that'll be a bonus!
I've also attached a crash-report to this post incase it's of any use in determining the cause of the problem (I couldn't find a way to attach it directly, so the file is hosted on my website - I apologise in advance if this is against forum rules!) -  http://www.starfireindustries.org.uk/uploads/8/6/6/1/8661295/ae_error_report.rtf
    Thanks in advance,
    John.
