Cordialement

Hi all
After several days of search on the forums without clear answers, I would like to contact you for your opinion on problem of slowness, in the Camera Raw in Photoshop CS5 (very thorough work) module.
I'm a professional photographer in town hall but this problem applies only to my personal work, and unfortunately for you, am not bilingual.
My problem:
Settings via the various tabs are fluid, however, + I'm working in depth with the localized retouching brush, it is slow (about 30 seconds to 1 minute to wait at each pass of the Brush Editor, tone Direct or simply zoomer…)
Questions:
Do you know of a configuration via Photoshop preferences that affects this?  Module Camera Raw (cache, mosaic from the cache, history, Ram…) and how to set?
Can Windows 7 64-bit also be set up to manage this memory through Camera Raw in CS5 to use
Is there a trick or workaround… this file xmp accompanying file nave (split, transfer to another disk of work…)
The NEF file 19 MB and the file xmp accompanying the image, can climb to 10 MB job with the localized retouching brush to blend the "masks". The settings of the departure through the various tabs are very fluid.
Hardware information:
I have the latest version of Camera Raw, 6.6.0.621
Camera Raw cache memory: 50 GB and working on hard drive E:
I have 8 GB memory RAM with Intel I 5 score to 3.20 GHz environment Windows 7 64-bit
All programs, including Photoshop are on a hard drive C: (which has 2/3rds free space)
Work on another hard disk E: drive (also free at 2/3 and priority defined).
In Photoshop, I dealt with with no slowdown when editing files of 500 MB to more than 1 GB.
Memory RAM of Photoshop set to 70 %
History states 1, Cache Levels 5, Cache Tile Size 1024K
Would you have a solution for me, thank you in advance for the help that you could provide me.
Regards
Hello patoche01,
Here are some VERY basic things you can try, if you don't get any more specific answers for this issue...
1.  Visit the web site of the maker of your video card and download and install the latest display driver for your hardware and operating system.  I suggest rebooting your system after updating display drivers.
2.  Reset all Photoshop preferences by pressing and holding Control - Shift - Alt immediately after cold-starting Photoshop.  If you get the keys pressed quickly enough, it will prompt you to delete current preference settings.
Bonjour patoche01,

  • How to get Camera RAW / Photoshop CS5 to work with Canon 100D?

How to get Camera RAW / Photoshop CS5 to work with Canon 100D? I don't want to by this product again and again...

In what way is ACR not working in Bridge?  Is there no right-click Open in Camera Raw available from Bridge, or there is, but the ACR version is less than ACR 6.7.1 or what exactly is the issue?
Also, if you open Photoshop and do Help / About Plug-ins / Camera Raw, is ACR missing from the list, or if not, what version does it say is installed?
You might also want to describe what methods you have tried to correct the issue, since saying you've tried what you've seen posted and they didn't work, isn't really much to go on.

  • No update Camera Raw for CS5

The only update of Camera Raw for CS5 was ver 6.7.1 in Mid 2013 but the Nikon Df wasn launch in Dec last year.  Adobe did not update the file therefore my Creative Suite 5 could not see the new NEF file unless I use DNG Converter to change to DNG file.

Adobe does not update obsolete versions on ACR.
So if you expect ACR to support RAW files from cameras that were not available when support for that version of ACR stopped with the release of the next version you will be probably dissappointed.
Please try the free DNG Converter to get the files into a format your obsolete version of ACR can process.

  • Canon 70D et Camera Raw (Photoshop CS5)

J'ai acheté un canon EOS 70D. Je n'arrive pas à utiliser Camera Raw (Photoshop CS5) avec cet appareil. Can you help me ?

Photoshop CS5 is not going to be able to directly open your raw files.
Adobe stopped updating older versions to be able to read raw files from newer cameras when they released a new major version of Photoshop. Photoshop CS5 is no longer receiving Camera Raw updates.
    To double check this yourself:
First you need to determine whether Adobe has released support for your new camera in your version of Photoshop. To do that, look at these two pages. You'll want to find out the earliest version of Camera Raw that can support your camera, then what version of Photoshop can run that version of Camera Raw.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
Since your version of Photoshop cannot support your camera, you can download and install the latest version of the free Adobe DNG Converter, which can take your raw files as input and put out DNG format files, which your version of Photoshop can open.
Photoshop Help | Digital Negative (DNG)
The DNG converter DOES work, but if you want maximal quality from your raw files (not to mention the convenience and ease of use of directly opening your raw files) you'll want the latest version of Photoshop. Adobe has made substantial improvements in raw conversion quality in recent years.

  • Get photos from camera option in Bridge CS5

I really would like to use the "Get photos from camera" option in Bridge CS5, as it would save me a few steps in my normal workflow (dowload images from my Canon 40D with EOS utility, convert to DNG, delete CR2 files, update metadata with copyright information), but when I try with with a large number of images, some RAW images are not downloaded and converted. All jpg images are downloaded. So I would get e.g. images 1.dng, 1.jpg, 2.dng, 2.jjp, 3.jpg - in othere words the 3.dng file would not download. Any help would be most sincerely appreciated.
BTW - when I use the Canon EOS Utility, all files get downloaded, but then these are all cr2 files.
I use Windows 7 64-bit as my OS.
    My thanks in advance.

On further testing, it appears that the download function works fine as long as the "Convert to dng" function is left unchecked. So the file loss occurs during the conversion process. I have looked but cannot find an answer - is there a way to batch convert downloaded cr2 files to dng from within Bridge? Or does one have to load up the DNG Converter separately?

It's not offline.  It's been working for others. I don't know how to tell you to get the updater working, but I can point you to a manual updater package for the latest Camera Raw for Photoshop CS5: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5373 (PC)http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5372 (Mac) -Noel

  • Missing RAW and CS5 option from Bridge

When trying to take a photo from bridge to either RAW or CS5 for processing, those options are no longer available. I get a msg that they are not in the system.
I have re-installed CS5 but no returning email has arrived from Adobe confirming instillation activty has been completed.

    Thanks Jeff for the response.
From Bridge I had been able to select RAW or CS5 for processing photos. They no longer show. The msg I get is:
Windows cannot find C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Photoshop exe. Make sure you typed the name correctly, than try again, click the stat button than click search.

  • Will Aperture EVER support my camera's RAW?

I own a Leica D-Lux 2 (same as the Panasonic LX1 with a different exterior) and am crushed that 10.4.4 didn't bring support for its RAW files. I wrote feedback to Apple the day after Aperture was released requesting support but they didn't listen to me!
The worst part is not knowing if I'm waiting in vain—if Apple will never support my camera, I'd abandon Aperture now. Arrrrggghhhh....

Also the missing support for DNG - which like PDF
will become the standard - is a great disappointment.
I feel Adobe has put much more work, effort and
thought into their new "beta" product. I will go for
this, seems much safer in the long run.
DNG is supported in Apple's products and Adobe's products but only if the particular camera's RAW file is supported. In other words, If Adobe doesn't support your particular camera's RAW file, then you can't convert it to a DNG. If Apple doesn't' support you particular camera's RAW file, then you can't use the converted file.
But why convert your file into a DNG if your computer supports a particular cameras RAW file?
The short answer to that question is for long term storage and future file access. If your cameras manufacturer drops support for older cameras (as Canon and Contax have done), will you be able to access that file, say 20 years from now? DNG is one answer to that question. For other information on the subject you can visit this website - http://www.openraw.org/
DNG is file format created by Adobe to help standardize the output of cameras. What this means is that Adobe is trying to get all the camera manufactures to agree to build into their cameras output support for a standardized file format. Just as a camera can convert it's RAW information into JPEG or TIFF files, Adobe would like them to convert the RAW information into a DNG file.
Every time a new parameter is added to your camera's sensor or a manufacturer adds a new sensor, the parameters for the RAW file change and software vendors (Apple, Adobe, etc.) need to update their products in order to support the changed RAW file. As you can imagine this is a real drain on resources and takes time. Just imagine trying to keep up with all the different cameras on the market, this has got to be a real nightmare!
So, if you want DNG support, the best thing to do is to contact the manufacturer of your favorite camera gear and ask them to add DNG output to the list of file formats that their cameras can output. Make sure that you let them know that you, as working professional who actually creates and owns the file/image, find it very unprofessional, unethical and not at all conducive to a professional business that they would actually create a proprietary file that was inaccessible to you and those that you license the file/image to.
If you want to help speed up the process of having Apple add a particular cameras RAW file to it's list of files that it can read, let the manufacturer of your favorite camera gear know that you would like them to allow Apple access to the proprietary (i.e. secret) information that enables Apple to build real support for their cameras into it's products.

  • Sony ILCA-77M2 camera`s raw in Lightroom

Good day! When do you plan to include support of Sony ILCA-77M2 camera`s raw in Lightroom ? Photographers really need it as soon as possible because it`s very difficult for us to work with Sony`s standart raw converter and sometimes in difficult situation it`s fully unuseful .

Eric Chan, an Adobe Raw engineer said, recently, that the A77M2 will be supported in the next “dot release” so a few more days or weeks, I’d expect.  The ACR 8.5 RC expires at the end of July so it should be before then, and Adobe has a major Cloud-related announcement on June 18th, so probably not before then.

  • Camera Raw in CS5

Have CS5, but it wont open .CR2 images from my camera(D650). I tried upgrading the camera raw plugin to 7.1 which will
work with my camera. The install tells me that I need a new version of Adobe Application Manager. I download a new version of AAM.
It installs, but when I run it, it tells me that the current version is corrupted and I need to download a new version of AAM. I done this
several times with the same result. (Wait...thats the definition of insanity!) Anyway...any help on this problem????
    Jim

Not sure about your AAM update issue, but as far as Camera Raw goes, ACR 7.x is only for PS-CS6 and will never run in CS5, so either you need to upgrade your PS to CS6 or use current version of the free DNG Converter to convert your new camera CR2 files to DNGs which can be recognized by older ACR plug-ins.
You can find the DNG Converter 7.3 on http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
Another alternative is to buy the-much-cheaper-than-photoshop Lightroom  4 and use LR 4.3 to do the camera-raw adjustments to your files and then use LR’s Edit in Photoshop (with LR adjustments) to put finishing touches on your photos.

  • Can I edit my RAW files from Aperture in Adobe Camera Raw in CS5?

I like Aperture for organizing my files and doing simple adjustments. I purchased CS5 and will be taking a class to learn more complex editing. Is there a way to store my photos in Aperture and get them into CS5's Camera Raw in the RAW format? When I try to do that they are tiff or jpg.

In the preferences you are able to select which file type you would like to export to an external editor, the assumption is that you have made basic corrections and accept the RAW processing in Aperture so want to work with a tif or jpeg.
If you are wanting to start from you camera RAW file, ie no processing, you will need to actually export the master file and work from it.
