Leopard and Epson Aculaser CX11NF

I am trying to connect my Epson Aculaser CX11NF with Leopard. It is connected, but for some reason the printer tells me that I need to check the paper type when it is correct and it prints about an inch lower than normal. Is this because there is a compatibility problem with Leopard and will this possibly be fixed with 10.5.2? If this is not the issue then what is wrong? Thanks.

This may or may not be of help to Snow Leopard users, but printing to my CX11NF via the USB port on my Airport Extreme (the first n version, not the current one) is problematic but workable from both my Dual G5 and my wife's 15 inch MacBook Pro (late 2008), both running Leopard. There were no issues with Tiger, but Leopard introduced an incompatibility with Epson Status Monitor3. ESM3 crashes or freezes after any print job (or queue of print jobs), and this usually results in having to restart either the Mac or the Airport Extreme. I've found that manually quitting the Epson AL-CX11 driver, then quitting or, more often, force quitting the ESM3 after a print job allows subsequent printing without having to restart. (I do this using Dock menus.) The workaround isn't 100 percent successful, but it comes reasonably close. As this printer has been discontinued for a couple years now, Epson is extremely unlikely to update drivers for it. So far, I'm reluctant to upgrade my wife's MBP to Snow Leopard, as there's no way to know in advance if it will defeat the workaround. If anyone using Snow Leopard has success printing through an Airport Extreme's USB port to the CX11NF, please post it here.

Have tried to set up my Epson aculaser cx11nf to print via Bonjour. Printer set up sees the bonjour printer but when I wish to add it all I get is rainbow wheel and have to force quit printer set up. Anybody been able to set up an Epson Aculaser CX11nf to print via Airport Extreme.

You have to reset the printing system.
    In 10.4:
From the "Printer Setup Utility" menu select the "Reset Printing System" command and, even though you're not asked to do so, restart the Mac.
For all other versions of Mac OS X:
    http://www.fixamac.net/software/index.html
I had the same problem and was able to bring back printing to 5 Macs running (10.3.9, 10.4.6 and 10.4.7).

  • SL can't print over the network to Epson AcuLaser CX11NF

I create a bonjour print queue in snow leopard to the Epson AcuLaser CX11NF and it fails to print with with Yellow Triangle Unable to connect ot printer; will try in 30 seconds
Then I get the following error
    /Library/Printers/EPSON/LaserPrinter/GD2/filter/pdftoescpage.app/Contents/MacOS/ pdftoescpage failed
On the same network with another MAC running OS X 10.5.x it an print no trouble. Also if I connect to the 10.5.x shared printer I can print from SL.
I just updated to 10.6.1 and it didn't fix a thing.
I can print if I directly connect via a USB cable to the printer.
Why is printing so broken in SL, did they ship it before they completed development and testing ?

  • Leopard, Netgear router with printer server and Epson Aculaser C1100

    Hello!
After updating to Leopard (10.5.1) all my printers were deleted. I've two printers connected to a Netgear FWG114Pv2 wireless router. My HP Photosmart is connected via ethernet to the router. It was easy to reinstalled this one.
But I still can't get my Epson Aculaser C1100 back to work on my MacBook. The printer is connected with the USB port of the Netgear router. This setting worked fine before Leopard. On Tiger I only had to set up an IP printer with the IP of the router (no queue settings requiered) and to select the correct driver.
If I try this now, my printer doesn't respond. If I choose the default postscript printer driver the data signal on my printer blinks for a short time, then the printer stops. Two Windows machines can properly print on the Aculaser. Even my WinXp running with Parallels Desktop on my MacBook can print to the Aculaser.
If I connect the printer directly to the Mac and setup the printer, everthing works fine. I called the Apple support three weeks ago (1 h) with no result. We tried all advanced options in the printer settings and I send communication protocols to Apple (recorded with a little tool from them). Untill now I've no response.
I also tried setting up differnet drivers as discussed here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6382269&#6382269
    Thanks!

  • Can not Print with HP LaserJet 5000 and Epson AcuLaser C9100

I am using MacBook Pro 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 with Mac OS X (10.6.6)
I already install the latest print driver from the Apple Software Update website.
The driver for HP is Ver. 17.5 & for Epson is Ver. 5.2
I connect two of the printer to my Belkin Surf N300 wireless N Router with ethernet cable.
The error when print to HP LaserJet 5000 is as follow:-
Unable to get printer status (Not Implemented)!
Network host 'x.x.x.x' is busy; will retry in 30 seconds...
This error can stay forever if I do not delete the print job
The error when print to Epson AcuLaser C9100 is as follow:-
    Printer not responding
This error can stay forever if I do not delete the print job
Previously I can print with my emac with OS X 10.4.10, but now I can not print with 2 of my printer.
My 2 printer are in good condition, so this is not the printer problem.
Please, do anyone know how to fix this problem fast, because I need to use this two printer for my business.
    Thanks in advance.

That is not what Greg needs to know. That is just the way that the IP addresses are assigned to the printers.
Your problem is probably that the printers were probably originally found by AppleTalk. AppleTalk is not included in Snow Leopard. If the printers support Bonjour, they should be found that way. Otherwise, you have to use other methods.
How did you add your printers on the new computer? If you delete them from Print & Fax, how would you add them again?

  • Leopard and Epson crisis!

I have an Epson Perfection 2450 scanner at home (and 5 at work where I teach graphic design). We have upgraded to OS 10.5.1 and to Adobe CS3. We left CS2 on the computers. We could not scan using CS3 Photoshop (though CS2 still worked) and so upgraded the scanner drivers. Now none of the computers will recognize the scanners. Not with Epson Scan, not with Photoshop, not with Image Capture. I spent 90 minutes on the phone with Epson support. Uninstalled everything. Reinstalled. Still no recognition. The About This Mac shows that the computer knows the scanner is there. Hooking up the scanner to a laptop with 10.4 and the same driver proves that the scanner works. The computer is missing the Scanner Monitor and com.apple.scan (whatever that is... Epson said to search for it). Thus, Epson says it is a problem with Leopard allowing the driver to install properly. And, of course, they've never heard of this before. But it is happening with 6 computers, hooked up to six 2450 scanners. The V350 scanners are working fine with the new driver. Help?!?!? I have students climbing the wall because they can't scan (me, too!).

While Apple and Epson and HP and Adobe fight it out over whose "fault" this all is, many people have circumvented the whole issue by using the VueScan driver
    http://www.hamrick.com/
which works with just about every scanner ever made and which was 10.5 compatible almost from day one.
Although my Epson 2400 works fine under 10.5 using the Epson software, there is still no working TWAIN driver (that I am aware of) that will allow importing from PS CS3.

  • Snow Leopard and Epson ****

Why, oh why, do I need to be an early adopter ?????
I did the Snow Leopard update on 2 Mac Pros in my studio.
Now I have a huge mess with my Epson 9800 and 9900 printers:
    1) I cannot use my ethernet to find my 9900.
    2) spooling times for prints are long enough to go out for a sandwich.,
    3) and - my i1 X-Rite profiles for my dual monitors are garbage.
In addition - I can't even print a letter from my Epson C88+ printer. I no longer have the Epson Printer Utility 2 software working - now it is Printer Utility Light. "Light" is the right word ! One of the C88+ cartridges is out of ink and the printer stopped working. The "Light" software will not show me which cartridge needs to be replaced!!!!!
My studio will donate $100 to sponsor a meeting for the Apple and Epson folks to get together and to get this #$%^^^^&^ software problem worked out - fast.
    Any other takers ??
    Dick

I can't really tell which drivers you are using right now. It sounds like the best course of action for you is to uninstall all of the Epson printer drivers and reinstall them one at a time. You will need to go into the Library/Caches folder and delete the Epson folder. Also go into the Library/Printers folder and delete the Epson folder. In the PPDs folder, delete the .gz files for your printers, too. If you are using the Gutenprint driver, you will need to uninstall that first. You can download the uninstaller at the following URL:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-print/files/Uninstaller%20-%20Mac%20OS%20X% 20ONLY/1.2.6/gutenprint-uninstaller-1.2.6.dmg/download
Click on the file it downloads and uninstall Gutenprint.
Once all the drivers have been uninstalled, install the latest drivers for each of your printers one at a time and make sure each works before installing to the next one.
    Hope this helps, Syd

  • Leopard and Epson 2200

    Hi,
I have upgraded to Leopard and have problems with my Epson 2200. The Epson Print Utility2 has been erased (?) by the upgrade. I can print from the printer but the utility to clean the print heads is gone and I cannot check levels anymore either. This basically makes an excellent printer useless. Does anybody have a solution?

This Leopard/Epson incompatibility problem (which disgraces both companies) has taken up my entire weekend. I finally am able to print to my Epson Stylus Photo 2200 from my Intel-based mini running 10.5.2 by:
    1. Hooking up via USB, not Firewire.
    2. Clearing out all old printer drivers and installing Gutenprint 5.0.2 from sourceforge.net.
AND, to restore Epson printer utility functionality, including ink level checking:
    3. Per a tip found in this discussion group: "Download the Utility "Pacifist" and use it on your Leopard Install disk to extract EPSON Printer Utility2.app. Go to OSInstall-PrinterDriversGroup-EpsonPrinters, and then follow the path above to find the file. You can then extract a copy."
I would add that you have to guide the download of Utility 2 OR 3 to your Application folder (or move it there from the Library after the download).
As it turns out, the Gutenprint Epson drivers produce better prints than the ones Epson supplies.
Thanks to this discussion group and a dozen others I've Googled to come up with this relatively simple fix. Hope it works for the other Epson Leopard sufferers out there.

  • Leopard and Epson 3800

Like most folks using Leopard and trying to print on an Epson 3800, I have lost most of the printing functions that should be available on a printer of that calibre. So much for my brand new Mac Pro, and my almost brand new Epson. However, with Tiger loaded on my MacBook Pro, the printer works just as it should. I really don't want to downgrade the Mac Pro from Leopard to Tiger, and I'm wondering if I can somehow link the Macbook to the Mac Pro in target disk mode, and print from there. Alternatively, I have three hard drives on the Mac Pro and I'm also wondering if I can load Tiger into one of them, and print from that drive. Has anyone tried either of these alternatives, and if one works, can you walk me through it? Any thoughts on this pesky problem would be appreciated (and, yes, I have read most of the threads I can find). Thanks.
    Andy.

I am having the same Error:-9672 issue with my networked SPro 3800 Pro Edition and my PowerMac G5 running newly installed Leopard. I'm at a loss and a little confused. In order to work backwards as some of you suggest, how do I delete the new PPDs? Where do I find them in the Printers folder and what are they called? I just downloaded the Printer Driver v3.5cE and can't find what it loads. I want to go back to the older PPD and see if that works. If that doesn't I might try the Euro version. Is that a Beta version?
My issue is also Express won't see any PPDs in the print window even after all the updates. Depending on the printer selected it is ether grayed out or I can only select Generic versions.
    Has anybody spoken to AppleCare?

  • Leopard and Epson R2400

I installed Leopard in December on my MBP and have had some frustrations with printing. I've been trying to print from Photoshop CS3 and have not been able to print borderless and the prints are often poor quality despite choosing higher resolutions/print quality. I've checked nozzles, etc on my printer and quality is reasonable from iPhoto. I've downloaded the new "Leopard-compatible" print driver (v3.12) from Epson Canada and made sure the "gutenprint" driver is not installed, but still my problems have not been solved -- especially borderless printing. Any suggestions?

I just solved my problem. iPhoto was fine with regards to printing and the print menus but photoshop wasn't. Rebooting my computer, however, solved my problem in photoshop.

  • Leopard and Epson SP 900

I recently upgraded to Leopard. Things are working well. I can print to my Epson Stylus Photo 900, however, I have no control over the prints.
In the past I could click on the "Printer" button in the print window and I would see Epson's control window where I could select the type of paper, the quality of the print, etc.
This is now GONE. I have tried everything I can think of:
    1) Downloaded and installed the latest "Epson EasyPrint v3.1bA" from their website
    2) I have Reset Printing Systems in Print & Fax in the control panel by Control+Clicking the list.
    3) I have deleted the Epson folder from the Library/Printers folder.
Nothing is bringing up the window I used to see or a newer version of it. I have screen shots of what I used to see(I made a screen shot so I could remember the settings when printing photos, glad I did) and what I now see. You can see these screen grabs here:
    http://www.lbiphotos.com/epson.html
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Even after I select the best resolution in the Gutenprint driver, the quality is not as good as it was in the pure Epson driver.
Here is the response I got from Epson:
Thank you for contacting the Epson Connection.
Drivers for your product are included with Macintosh OS X 10.5. Just
connect your Epson product to your computer.
If your output is faint or if the driver settings and/or features are
missing, your system may have automatically added the printer using the
    Gutenprint driver.
Determine Which Driver is Currently Being Used
    1. Click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the Finder and open
    System Preferences.
    2. In the System Preferences window, click on Print & Fax.
    3. In the list of printers on the left side of the Print & Fax window,
click once on your Epson printer to select it.
    4. Check the name of the driver being used; it is displayed in the center
of the Print & Fax window next to “Kind”.
    5. If the driver name displayed next to “Kind” is Gutenprint, the incorrect
driver is being used. Follow the steps in the next section to select the
    correct driver.
    Selecting the Correct Driver
    1. Turn off the printer.
    2. Delete the print queue and remove the printer from Print & Fax by
clicking on the minus button under the list of printers. Click OK to
    confirm the removal.
    3. Click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the Finder and open
    System Preferences.
    4. In the System Preferences window, click on Print & Fax.
    5. Turn on the printer. The system should add the printer automatically.
    6. If the system does not add the printer or if it adds it using the
Gutenprint driver, contact Apple for assistance. You may need to reinstall
the Epson drivers provided with Leopard.
NOTE: To check ink levels, click the Utility button, then click EPSON
StatusMonitor. The Supply Levels button will not show remaining ink levels
    for your Epson printer.
If you require further assistance with this particular issue, please ensure
all of our previous correspondence is contained in your reply, so we can
better track the history of this issue.
If you have a different issue, please submit another E-form via our website
(http://www.epson.com), and we will respond in a timely manner. Thank you
    again for contacting Epson.

  • Epson Aculaser CX11NF printing via Airport Express

Well today has been an interesting day...

Powerbook 10.4.11 can see it and connect but won't print
Toshiba XP laptop) can't see it
Check out the net, try out the info I find and hey presto! Toshiba XP laptop sees and prints perfectly
Share printer via Markbook and Markintosh and Powerbook prints fine but still won't print directly via airport express.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

  • After upgrading to snow leopard my Epson printer drivers did not load and i get an error 'rasteroescpll failed'. I have tried reloading the driver to no effect. Can anyone help?

I have just upgraded to Snow Leopard and at the end of the upgrade the printer drivers failed to load. I have since updated them myself (Epson BX305) but still get an eror message 'rasteroescpll failed'. can anyone help?
I have an Imac previously running 5.8.0 and now running 6.3.0.
    thank you
    Hugh

The current driver version is 8.67.
    Delete you printer.
    Delete the folder /Library/Prnters/EPSON
    Delete the folder /Library/Caches/Epson
Unplug your printer from your computer for 30 seconds and then plug it back in.  You should be prompted to download the new drivers.
If all that fails, you can get the new drivers from Apple at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1398

  • I have just upgraded to Snow Leopard and have lost my epson printer software. On Epson Aus. web page there is no upgrade of their software for my printer with Snow Leopard. Can i download a lesser operating system software for printer?

I have just upgraded to snow leopard and lost my epson printer software. I have checked Epson Aus web site for printer software but they haven't upgraded it for snow leopard. Am i able to download software for a lesser operating system then snow leopard or do i have to purchase a new printer? The model is stylus photo R310.

Have you tried the R300 or R320 software? Typically the software covers a broad spectrum of printers, often providinbg overlap to cover "relatives" of a series.

  • Photoshop CS3 and Epson printer

I have PS CS3 with an Epson 4000 running on windows XP. I know Adobe is aware of a problem in which under some circumstances, (when you use roll paper) PS will print a smaller image off center and displaying in the interface the portrait mode despite me clicking landscape. I also know Adobe has a technote that offers solutions (I am already using version 10.0.1 with Bridge 2.1.1.9. Also solutions 2,3, and 4 on the tech notes have not worked. I tried different combinations and permutations of settings to no avail. Now I work on CS3 on the image, save it, and print it on CS2 which I kept on my computer, and has no problems printing. Can you please keep this as an on-going problem, since it has not been solved yet? Any feedback on this? There are a lot of Epson printer out there, and printing for a photographer is absolutely important. Thanks.
    Ed Kneler

Have spent hours with both Adobe and Epson support people. I've read several of these forums. Is there an insurmountable problem with CS3 and Epson (2200/2400 are mine)? I have the Leopard patches and upgrade 10.5.4.
With Photoshop managing the color I get prints that are slightly underexposed and carry a pink cast. Color management is off. With the printer managing the color I get prints that are too green and dark. Epson advice here is to have color management off. There are two other choices for management but to adjust a perfectly balanced print to the printer's whim seem like cruel punishment.
Have a calibrated monitor and my CS2 works beautifully. Perhaps the best idea is to just go back to CS2 until Adobe and Epson can decide what to do. According to Adobe people, the CS3 gives much of the management back to Epson. According to Epson -- with CS3, you should choose the printer to manage the color (since this seems to be the trend between the two companies) but we users are not happy with the results.
What is the solution for right now?
