Leopard and HP C4280 printer crashing
I installed Leopard on my MacBook and reinstalled the HP printer software as it crashed the first time I used it. Now, if I try to open previously downloaded photos, especially in Create or Edit, it loads for about 10 seconds and then crashes. Is this hopeless or should I just stick with iPhoto or Adobe Photo?
Hp shows a recent (Feb., 2008) driver for the C4280:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=219&lc=en&cc=us&lang=en&produ ct=3192753&dlc=en
I'm not sure what driver version you're using, or whether this is the correct area for you to be considering. I had problems with my C7280 until an updated driver was installed.

I updated from os 10.5 to snow leopard and my logic 8 crashes upon opening. Does anyone know any fixes? thanks
Logic 8 should have no problems in SL.
Use Software update to check if you've got the latest update for it (SU will only offer an update if it's not already installed).
Failing that, I'd start by uninstalling Logic and re-install from the DVD in case something got corrupted during the update. -
Snow Leopard and Adobe CS4 print to PDF
Hi all,
I recently upgraded to Leopard and noticed that while using photoshop and illustrator i can no longer choose Print->Print to PDF... I have to use this option because i print files via a network at school and I cannot send big .psd and .ai files. Any suggestions? I did some reading and discovered that Snow Leopard blocks that functionality.. so is there a work around or another way that I can print my files without them being really large.
Thanks
MattThe PDF drop down does not appear in Illustrator or Photoshop... I have access to it in Acrobat.
The guys in the computer lab at school told me to do the following..
1) From creative suite program. File-Save As-PDF
2) Open that File in Adobe Acrobat
3) Export file to Post Script File
4) Re-Open that Post Script File in Acrobat and save it over the intial PDF file.
Seems like there should be an easier way... (they are all PC guys)... -

Upgraded to Snow Leopard and now Logic 9 crashes ALL THE TIME
I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard.. and now when I open a new Logic File and hit record on an AUDIO track. It crashes. It's fine with MIDI, just crashes on audio. It also won't bounce, and it won't save, it just freezes and vanishes. I've spent the last 3 hours reinstalling it to no avail and have tried it with 9,0,0 and the new 9.1.4,, help!
Probably needs the latest Pro Apps support package for Snow Leopard, sorry, I don't have the file name. There's one for Leopard and a separate one for Snow Leopard.
Did you check to see if it shows up in Apples' Software Update?

Upgraded to snow leopard and now cannot print
I purchased an iPhone 4S which forced me to upgrade to snow leopard. I have two Epson printers and an Epson scanner. Now I cannot print.
I downloaded Epson updates for the new system from the Apple website hoping that would solve the problem. It did not.
Current print issues:
The print dialogue boxes look like inDesign options, not photoshop or "regular" print options.
I cannot print : Error:/System/Library/Printers/Printjobmgr/Contents/MacOS
Any suggestions on what to do next? This is very frustrating.
Thanks in advance.Open the System Preferences program and select the Print tab. Delete the printers and then try installing the printers again.
I don't know what you mean by:
The print dialogue boxes look like inDesign options, not photoshop or "regular" print options.
If this persists you might want to take screenshots and include them. -
Challenges on using Photoshop Element 6, G4 with Leopard and Canon S9000 printer
Unable to find the Print Dialog Box when using Photoshop Element 6, G4 with OS Leopard(10.5.8) and Canon S9000 printer in order to choose the media type(paper type) to print photos.
Okay, let's try it this way. You've got that dialog box onscreen. Click PRINT (see circle and arrow):
Then you should see this:
Click that arrow and that window should expand to show you this:
Your actual choices in the last menu may read a little differently but that's the pulldown where you choose. -
Upgraded to Leopard and can't Print
Hello,
Ever since I upgraded to Leopard I can't print to my HP 1115. I can print test pages just fine and if I send a normal document from any application and then put my computer to sleep when re-waken it, it will print the document, however the quality is very poor.
I'm running version 10.5.4 on a PowerPC G5. I've tried printing from Photoshop CS, Mail, Safari, and TextEdit.
Any suggestions are welcome!Hmmm, I will have to see if I still have the install disks I've had this printer for probably 5 years! When I first got my Mac computer with Tiger installed I didn't have to install anything, just plug-in and go. Normally I wouldn't need the disks for printers or scanners its just so much easier to go to the site and download the drivers, mac or PC. That way you don't get any of the extra junk they often have on the disk.
Where would you look for "Pacifist"? Utilities? I'll try doing a search when I get home to see if I can find it myself but I thought I might ask...
I read on another internet page about uninstalling the HP drivers and than re-installing the one they provide. They discribe the same problem I'm having and claim it will fix it. I couldn't do it though because I didn't know how to completely uninstall all the HP drivers on my computer. -
No papers appear for Soft Proofing a photo when using Epson R1900 printer and in Snow Leopard.
Print driver 6.62 is installed. Soft Profing papers are listed when an image is open in Preview but
can't print from Preview. None appear when a photo is open in Photoshop. Paper profiles
are listed in Color Sync Folder in Library but they don't appear for Soft Proofing when in PS.
How can I get profiles for Soft Proofing? They did appear when my printer was in Tiger & a Power Mac...?I can't really tell which drivers you are using right now. It sounds like the best course of action for you is to uninstall all of the Epson printer drivers and reinstall them one at a time. You will need to go into the Library/Caches folder and delete the Epson folder. Also go into the Library/Printers folder and delete the Epson folder. In the PPDs folder, delete the .gz files for your printers, too. If you are using the Gutenprint driver, you will need to uninstall that first. You can download the uninstaller at the following URL:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-print/files/Uninstaller%20-%20Mac%20OS%20X% 20ONLY/1.2.6/gutenprint-uninstaller-1.2.6.dmg/download
Click on the file it downloads and uninstall Gutenprint.
Once all the drivers have been uninstalled, install the latest drivers for each of your printers one at a time and make sure each works before installing to the next one.
Hope this helps, Syd -
Upgraded to Snow Leopard and now iPhoto 11 crashes.
iPhoto worked fine until I upgraded my iMac to Snow Leopard (10.6.8) and installed iLife '11. Now when I put the SD card from my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH20 into the reader, iPhoto (9.1.5) immediately gives me the spinning beach ball until I Force Quit. Even launching iPhoto without an SD card in the slot results in an "iPhoto Not Responding" message, although when the SD card is not in, at least I can see my existing iPhoto pictures behind the spinning ball.
The funny thing is that (1) the updated iPhoto still seems to import pictures from my iPhone 4 okay and (2) my brand-new MacBook Pro imports from the same SD card fine via iPhoto. Unfortunately, my iMac is where I want my photos stored, not on my MacBook Pro.
I have tried various suggestions from other posts but nothing works: restarting iPhoto with Option key down and creating new library... deleting iPhoto preferences file... making sure Bluetooth is turned off. Also, I've tried opening Image Capture to import the photos, but strangely all I see is my card mounted as Canon_DC Mass Storage (although I'm not using a Canon, but my previous camera WAS a Canon...) but no photos come up in the main window and "import" is not choosable.
FYI, the SD card says SD High Capacity 4GB Class 6 Patriot Memory. My iMac has lots of space on the HD and the memory is adequate.
Anyone have any suggestions??! Anything else I should tell you? Thanks in advance for any help.Hi Terence,
Sorry, I thought importing from my iPhone was working, but it's not now. I've also tried connecting my camera directly via USB (rather than putting the SD card in a reader) but it also just beach balls endlessly until I force quit. Here is the beginning and end of the report (i've put a line in between to separate). Thanks again for your help.

Like most folks using Leopard and trying to print on an Epson 3800, I have lost most of the printing functions that should be available on a printer of that calibre. So much for my brand new Mac Pro, and my almost brand new Epson. However, with Tiger loaded on my MacBook Pro, the printer works just as it should. I really don't want to downgrade the Mac Pro from Leopard to Tiger, and I'm wondering if I can somehow link the Macbook to the Mac Pro in target disk mode, and print from there. Alternatively, I have three hard drives on the Mac Pro and I'm also wondering if I can load Tiger into one of them, and print from that drive. Has anyone tried either of these alternatives, and if one works, can you walk me through it? Any thoughts on this pesky problem would be appreciated (and, yes, I have read most of the threads I can find). Thanks.
Andy.I am having the same Error:-9672 issue with my networked SPro 3800 Pro Edition and my PowerMac G5 running newly installed Leopard. I'm at a loss and a little confused. In order to work backwards as some of you suggest, how do I delete the new PPDs? Where do I find them in the Printers folder and what are they called? I just downloaded the Printer Driver v3.5cE and can't find what it loads. I want to go back to the older PPD and see if that works. If that doesn't I might try the Euro version. Is that a Beta version?
My issue is also Express won't see any PPDs in the print window even after all the updates. Depending on the printer selected it is ether grayed out or I can only select Generic versions.

Tiny printing with Snow Leopard and HP Photosmart C4280
Since I have gotten Snow Leopard on my MacBook, my HP Photosmart C4280 printer only prints reduced size. The HP test page prints fine. I have uninstalled the HP driver and installed the Apple software driver. Nothing helps. Ideas?
Hi Philip & welcome to the forums:
Got to ask if you're sure you have the absolute latest HP drivers from Apple....
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
And - also if you've checked for any problematic fonts (all languages) with Apple's Font Book (look in the Applications folder). Find and remove all duplicates also.
Start there to be sure all fonts that are in play come out with a clean bill of health.
Don't hesisate to perform wholesale deletion of old and/or little used fonts - be skeptical of anything that has come from Office 2008, including those related to an Equation Editor installation.
By all means be sure your 3rd party apps are Snow Leopard compatible -
Office 2004 crashes in Leopard when using File print option.
Office 2004 apps all crash when I try to print using File>print but they will print if I just use the printer icon. Any ideas?? I have updated Office to 11.3.9 and uninstalled and reinstalled the printer. BTW, the printer is an HP Laserjet All-in-one model 3330. Everything else I've tried seems to print ok -- Safari, Adobe, Pages.
I would like to upgrade three other machines but I'm waiting until I get this print problem resolved.
Thanks.Well I feel sort of stupid, I was using the HP driver. Switching to either of the drivers supplied with Leopard fixed this problem. Thanks.

Since loading Lion, I've experienced much more instability than Snow Leopard. In particular, Mail crashes with regularity, full-screen apps seem to run slower and show the beach ball more often for longer, etc. I love the features, but I'm disappointed with the performance. Any help coming from Apple? I've been sending them so many reports after crashes, that their file must be full!
Summoning max. courage, I did what you advised. Here is the result. What does this tell you? My Lion 7.2 (mid 2011 iMac) has several annoying glitches (which I have so far tolerated through gritted teeth) but none that have actually stopped me working.
BTW, I see several items involving CleanMyMac which I did not know I had. It is generally villified as a trouble-maker. Spotlight can't find an app. or a utility of that name. How can I get rid of what's there please? Just delete?

Illustrator and other CS4 Apps crashing in snow leopard
Hello,
Just upgraded from 10.5.8 to 10.6 and am having some very serious CS4 issues. I first noticed in flash when it constantly kept crashing on save. Now it seems that same issue is also on Illustrator durring open or save or export. I went over to photoshop and that's doing the same as well. The crash is similar on all programs in that it will thow a beach ball after you click save or open, then after a few seconds the entire program closes and two types of crash windows open. One that lets your submit a report and relaunch and the other seems liek the same thing with more options. I am using a Macbook pro dual core 2.2ghz with 4 gigs of ram. Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks!
-CodyThis is what I think the problem is that many of the users upgraded and there is a difference between Leopard and Snow Leopard which changes the way the OS works and interacts with the applications, but it is not unstable once you get a fresh start.
But how do you get a fresh start if you really do not understand or have any knowledge of those components?
Probably with a lot of pain and frustration.
I experienced all of the issues that everyone else experienced the difference is I did not panic and I thought about what are the kinds of things that would be me a real fresh start.
Short of an archival reinstall!
This is what I did. Instead of trying one thing at a time I simply trash all those files I knew could cause the problem.
Settings Folder ( it is important to trash the folder as it can itself be corrupt not just the preferences inside) then all the Cache files in the two Application Support Folders for the Adobe products giving me problems, any folder in the applications support folders under Adobe related to that application, Font Cache and the com.adobe.(Application name).plist files in the user preferences.
Now also I will give you a possible universal cause for crashing and that is what caused Photoshop to crash every time I used it.
The OS installed a font that it requires to run and I had substituted a postscript version of it prior to installing the OS upgrade and it worked fine, the postscript version. But I now had a duplicate version loaded and I had a choice to disable it or deactivate the postscript version which was the simplest thing to do and so I did it and Photoshop works and I notice that Illustrator behaved better as well.
My printer drivers were not working so I downloaded the upgrade and it was still not working so I remove the driver from the printer list and then added it back so the OS would know it had been added. The printers work fine. Well I had to clean the nozzle so that the printer would do a good job.
So it would be wise perhaps to try and get everything that can contribute to these issue off the system until the oS and the application can re create them in a fresh way.
