Leopard and Plantronics Voyager 510 headset problem.

I try to post here a message that i've posted in another section of the support board, maybe this is more appropriate with the problem.
I have a plantronics voyager 510 bluetooth headset that i've alway used fine with Tiger. Since it's a multipoint headset, i use it with the mac and the nokia cellphone at the same time. When it was paired with tiger, after powering on the headset, the bluetooth connection was established only in case of need (for example when i received a call with skype). Then, at the end of the call, the bluetooth connection between headset and tiger stopped, so that in case of need i was able use it with the cellphone.
The problem i have with Leopard is that when i switch on the headset, osx start a connection with it immediately, also if it doesn't use it, so that the headset it's always connected and busy for nothing!
This is causing some trouble to me now. Is there any setting i'm missing? Note that in the audio preferences, i told to osx to NOT use the headset at all, which is just configured under the skype audio tab.
Thanks for your time.

having similar problems w/ 2 different devices since leopard install. both worked fine w/ tiger

  • Will Plantronics Voyager 510 bluetooth headset work with the latest macbook

i just received my latest new macbook last week and am considering buying the Plantronics Voyager 510 bluetooth headset for all voice communication over yahoo, ichat or skype (current version of skype has problems with leopard firewall, i hear skype guys are working it out to release a fixed version). So can someone tell me if they tried successfully using a bluetooth headset with the latest intel mac that ships with leopard?
I am posting this new question after having read about the skype bluetooth headset threads on which i could not figure out the answer!
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks, neil

Please see the "Voice Mail doesn't work with Bluetooth" item, as it would appear that some of the headsets do work, some don't. My Plantronics 520 no longer works with the Voice mail, but works with everything else. I have an old Motorola bluetooth (850) however, and it both works for calls, and is seen by the voice mail.
By the way, this reference is to stay tuned, as the issue has not been resolved, but there are plenty of responses there, so you're not alone with Plantronics compatibility. Hopefully volume of issues will get priority on software fix.

  • Plantronics Voyager Pro headset NOT compatible with 3GS

I've been having terrible problems with my Plantronics Voyager pro all singing and all dancing bluetooth headset and my 3GS.
I've tried 2 units to no avail and have a long case log with Plantronics support.
Apparently the inbuilt noise cancelling "intelligence" in the headset is conflicting with the iPhone noise cancelling electronics, producing a terrible user experience and is not just specific to Plantronics headsets, but all those that rely on headset noise-cancelling (like the Jawbone etc..)
Anyway, I notice that Plantronics have now changed their website to advise that the Voyager Pro is NOT compatible with the 3GS (in fact is seems like none of the noise-cancelling ones are)
This seems like a schoolboy error on Apple's part and speaking to Plantronics, they have no idea if and when a resolution is likely to be forthcoming!

I wish I had known this a few months ago. I had an original iPhone using a Plantronics Voyager 510. Everyone always said it was like I was in the same room talking to them. I bought a new 3Gs, and a Plantronics Voyager Pro. I seem to be able to hear just fine, but people I talk to keep having me repeat everything. Most people say it sounds like I'm talking to them from inside a hole somewhere. I got my headset last July. I switched back to my old bluetooth headset, it didn't resolve the problem, so I know it wasn't the Voyager Pro. I thought it might be interference from the metal cover I had bought from AT&T to protect the iPhone, and removing the cover seemed to give people better clarity, but they still complain. Now for long conversations I've had to return to using a corded headset.

  • HT4111 What can I do to have the new Ipad discover plantronics voyager pro headset?

What can I do to have the new Ipad discover plantronics voyager pro headset?

    Try this:
Make sure you turn off the voyager ( red light) and then hold the power button until you see the alternating red and blue flashing light that indicates it is discoverable.  Then go back to the iPad settings and you should see that it has discovered the voyager.  Then select (touch where it says 'voyager') and it should pair.

  • IPhone 4 and Plantronics Voyager Pro

Apple sells plantronics headsetds,..mine worked great with my blackberry,.my iPhone doesnt pick it up??.Anyone have any IDEA why?

Ok, for those of you who have a Plantronics Voyager Pro bluetooth headset, I got a connection/"pairing". This is what I did:
    1) I turned off my bluetooth headset.
    2) Go to Settings in iPhone and turn "on" your bluetooth so that it is searching ...
    3) Then I turned on the headset until I saw the blue light, AND CONTINUED to HOLD DOWN the on/off switch until the blue light was FLASHING.
    4) The "pairing" took place during the flashing.
Holding down the power button on your Voyager Pro headeset acts like as a "hard reset", and starts a "new" search for a new device or new software, in this case it's iOS5 or your new iPhone, or both.
Before doing the steps above my iMac (desktop computer) had the same problem of not "discovering" my bluetooth headset. But after I did the steps, I set my iMac to "discover mode" and the "pairing" between these two devices was successful.
    OTHER bluetooth headsets
Try doing a "hard reset" on your bluetooth device, if you are trying to connect with an iPhone, iPad, or desktop computer that is running iOS5 or Lion.
The problem seemed that my bluetooth headset was trying to connect with devices that were paired with previous operating systems (ie: iOS4 or Snow Leopard). When I upgraded my operating systems to iOS5 and Lion, my bluetooth needed to "start fresh", hence the "hard reset" on the bluetooth.

  • Galaxy S5 and Plantronics Voyager Legend

I got the Voyager Legend Headset when I preordered my S5. The headset worked perfect with my Motorola Razr maxx.
Now with my S5 the headset auto answers every call as long as it is turned on and paired to the phone. Doesn't matter if it's on my ear or not it will auto answer the call.
I took it into a Verizon store they weren't able to determine why. They even grabbed a brand new one off the shelf, paired it to my phone and it did the same thing. I contacted Plantronics whet through all of their troubleshooting and still no change. Plantroncis recommended exchanging it for a new one.
Since I had seen another one already have this issue I thought I'd post this on this forum and see if anyone else is having this problem and see if anyone has found a solution.
    Things I've done.
    1) Installed the Plantronics app and checked all the settings
    2) Updated the firmware on the headset and checked the settings with the plantronics website
    3) Tried changing all the "answering and ending call" options on the S5
    4) Unpairing the headset and repairing it.
    5) Tried using the headset with the s5 in safe mode
Anyone have any more thoughts or suggestions?

I have recently just got the solution.
Even Samsing wasn't able to help. After going through all the settings on the S5 I found the fix.
Go to Settings --> Applications --> Call --> Call Accessories. There is an option for Automatic Answering. Uncheck that.
The headset will now work perfectly.

  • Snow Leopard and hosting Ruby Rails: mysql problem

Hi, I'm just starting to look at ruby rails hosting on my 10.6.1 server. I have been working through the Apple tutorial "deploy rails on leopard" ( http://developer.apple.com/tools/deployonrailsleopard.html ).
I have hit a problem with Capistrano attempting to use the Ruby MySql gem on the Snow Leopard server. The error is "The bundled mysql.rb driver has been removed from Rails 2.2. Please install the mysql gem and try again: gem install mysql"
Now, after much googling I have found a number of folks struggling to get the Ruby MySql gem working on 10.6 Clients. Mostly the suggestions involve installing a newer version of MySql and setting the compiler options during gem build.
I'm a little nervous of just trying to mimic this approach on a server system. So I have a two part question:
    1. Has anyone found good documentation for setting up Ruby Rails on Snow Leopard server?
    2. Has anyone found good documentation on getting the Ruby MySql Gem running on 10.6 server?
    many thanks in advance, Jonathan

it should work the same way as on 10.6 client.
    you might try this approach:

  • Why is my IPhone 5 not pairing with my Plantronics voyager pro headset?

Can someone please help out? My iPhone 5 is not pairing with any of my devices.

I upgraded from IOS5 to IOS 6 this morning.  Previously my Voyager PRO+ was able to stream music, youtube, Siri, any audio.  Since the upgrade, Siri still works-- but no streaming of audio goes to my headset anymore.  I was thinking of "forgetting" the device and re-linking, but based on your experience, I'm guessing that won't help.

  • Plantronics Voyager 510

HELP, can iPhone to recognize the ear piece. I have reset the entire system, shut off, restart and the system continues to search with nothing found. I am not able to even pair the two. Any pointers would be great

I have been told by plantronics that only two headset will work with the IPhone 3G. The 925 discover and a special edition 8oo model. I hope this helped. You can look it up at the Plantronics web site.

  • Snow Leopard and Apple 20 inch ACD Problem

Installed SL using the defaults on one of my White MacBooks - no problems, except its not any quicker.
As everything seemed ok, decided to intstall SL on my Mac Pro with a 20 inch ACD. Part way through the install the display started flashing between blue screen and installed progress screen.
Install finished OK, and rebooted. The screen just now switched between all light blue and showing the desktop. If I use a Macbook and screen share, all is OK with the desktop. I have tried changing the screen settings using screen share and not had any luck getting the ACD to work.
    Anyone any ideas?
I assume it is still the ongoing problem of the screen drivers Apple screwed up with the last "update" to Leopard that was never fixed. I had thought they might have sorted it for SL
    SPB

I had a very similar problem.
On my MacBook Pro, half way through the screen went black, and looked as if the brightness was turned all the way down. I held a flashlight to the back of my screen and logged in, and the brightness returned to the normal level.
On my Mac Pro, I have 6 monitors with 3 dual head cards, factory installed. One of the monitors, is black. Again it looks like the brightness is turned all the way down. There is no way for me to change the brightness level in the System Preferences.
After talking to Apple Support for 45 minutes and trying different things, they recommended that I reinstall Snow Leopard. I am in the process now.

  • Snow Leopard and HP LaserJet 4mv print problem (yet again)

    All
This has been discussed before, I have read all the posts and I cannot get my iMac to print to my trusty Laserjet 4MV now that I am running SL 10.6.4
    I have tried:
Downloading the latest release of drivers
Loading the 'optional' packages off the SL DVD
    Downloading Gutenprint drivers
Configuring the 4MV for IP connection with 192.0.0.192 as the IP address and 255.255.255.0 as the subnet mask address then using 192.0.0.192 in the printer setup.
I have tried a 'cold restart' of the 4MV which has cleared all my settings and made 0.0.0.0 as the IP address and 0.0.0.0 as the default gateway.
None of these have caused the printer to be seen by the iMac.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
    Many thanks.
    Niall

You - If you open Network preferences what is the IP address of the Gateway address?
(Configure IPv4 is set to Using DHCP) IP is 192.168.254.100
You- What route are you using to connect to your cable/DSL modem? We have a Speedtouch 510 broadband router supplied by our broadband provider running into a 3Com OfficeSwitch 8 port box and Ethernet (Cat5) cabling out to points around the house.
You- Don't you have the user manual? Yes and its pretty hopeless. The online manual is more extensive but doesn't include a menu map for the MIO menu. I have found a step-through on the web and have now successfully changed the settings on the 4MV (probably to the wrong ones) and done a 'cold reset' back to the factory defaults (0.0.0.0).
I'm getting the impression that its the IP address that I've used that is wrong. I took 192.0.0.192 from the 4MV test menu printout. Should I have used the addressing from the Network Prefs?
    Regards and thanks.

  • Pairing iphone 3G with bluetooth Plantronics voyager PLT 510

Hello! This is my problem: I have a bt. headset Plantronics voyager 510 which I want to use with my IPhone 3G. I make my headset discoverable, my phone recognize it, and with no code, I can use (talk). All time when bluetooth is "on" my IPhone keep searching devices, and is visible. Only option wich I have is to delete PLT 510 from phone memory. Can anyone tell me where I go wrong or what`s happening?

I had a similar issue with my Jawbone Prime. The iPhone wouldn't recognize it. I paired my Plantronics 520 without any problem -- it works fine. I tried the Jawbone again and it hooked right up! I can now use either headset.
Far-fetched, but if you could borrow another headset and give that a try, maybe the phone will cooperate with your Plantronics.

  • Voyager 510 Bluetooth stopped working with YouTube after 10.6 upgrade

I have been using a Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth headphone for several months. On 10.5.8, it worked fine with all sound applications: Finder, QuickTime, Safari/Firefox, Skype, iTunes.
I recently upgraded to 10.6 (10.6.4 now) and sound works for all those applications except for sound from a web browser. When video, etc. is playing in the browser, I do not get any sound from the video playback, even though I can get the boops and bleeps when I hit the volume control keys, etc.
Anyone have ideas about what might have changed? (Actually I did notice that the Bluetooth menu item changed from "Use as Audio Device" (in 10.5.8) to "Use as Audio Device (Mono)" in 10.6, but I don't think that should have changed the audio for the web browser.)
    Thanks.

Contact the headphone manufacturer to make sure they are fully compatible with Snow Leopard.

  • Lumia 625 windows bluetooth headset problems

Using a Plantronics voyager edge headset on a Lumia 625 with windows 8.1 often results in a audio stream that is interupted 3 or 4 times a second.
Already changed the phone, bought a higer bluetooth version headset (4.0 vs. 2.1 ) but still no solution.
Heard rumours that it is a known problem, and that a lumia 930 does not have this problem.
Plantronics and Nokia/Microsoft are apparently working on it, but no info on when it will be solved.
Anyone with the same experience, and anyone that knows a workaround?

the phone is updated up to the last release, so 8.1
Problem emerged as of starting to use the 625 with a plantronics Discovery 975.
Did all the things requested by nokia support, power cycle, factory reset, etc.
Phone was exchanged for a new one without result.
Bought the latest blutooth version headset from Plantonics, the voyager edge, problem happens slightly les frequent now but still remains.
    Im running out of options.

  • E72 bluetooth headset problems

    Hi guys
I just got my E72 2 days, so far so good for me except for this weird bluetooth problem.
When using bluetooth headset for calls, the connection with the headset will be dropped but the call will remain online. I had to switch over the handset. The headset will indicate that the connection had been dropped but the phone will still show that it is connected to the headset. Previously i had the similiar problem with E71 but the E71 will drop the headset connection after a while. Once in a while, all i need to do is to toggle the bluetooth setting off and on to recover the bluetooth connectivity. E72 keep showing that the headset connection is active even if i toggle the bluetooth connection off.
The error setting can only be solved by restarting the phone. does anyone have a solution for this? maybe new firmware from nokia to address such problem? or am i the only one with this problem

    breidan wrote:
I just talket to Nokia's helpdesk. They say that the E72 har microsoft bluetooth stack, and Plantronics uses toshiba bluetooth stack. They therefore do not guarantee compability.
So Nokia and Plantronics Voyager Pro does not work together.
I am having this problem even with Nokia BH-904 headset, not only with another brand (Jabra JX10 Series II in my case). So this theory does not hold.
However, it seems my E72 had re-adjusted itslef somehow. I still get the headset disconnected, but I do not have to power-cycle the phone anymore. I just have to turn off and back on the bluetooth headset and it will re-connect with the phone, even during conversation. It takes a a few seconds, but I do not have to end the conversation anymore, just keep talking on the handset while I power off and back on the headset. If course it is difficult when driving :-)
