Leopard and Quark document icons??

Hi
All of my document have their appropriate icons, pdf icon PS icon etc. Yet Quark does not, just a grey box??? Any ideas?

Have been on Quark.com forum and they say there should be an update around Jan . Have you found that you can no longer pick which pages of a document to pdf? I have and its a wind up. Tried a question on Quark forum about itt, but it is not as vigorous as this one, so some questions just get ignored.

  • Leopard and quark 7.3

Why dont the software companies check their products work before they con us out of our hard earned cash, we upgraded with a love quark and leopard bundle and wish we hadn't... its a nightmare with Quark not working in Leopard and Apple with a 15 min wait on their support line... as a MAC fan since 1986 I am questioning my sanity in upgrading to the wonder product leopard... this software is not fit for purpose, Quark 7.3 worked well in Tiger, Leopard is ruining my business as I cant work!

  • Problem with open Word Documents and Quark Documents

    Hi,
    I am getting a strange problem with OS X Server 10.4.6, running on a G4 Xserve 1Ghz.
When working on files in Microsoft Word X and 2004 after having the file open for a few minutes if you try and save we get an error "Word failed reading from this file", or "Bad network connection".
Also in Quark 6.52 and Quark 6.1 when trying to save a file to the server we get "File not found [-43]". It is possible to open files, and it is also possible to move files onto the share using finder without any problems. To work on documents we are having to work on them locally on the desktop then copy across once done.
The only thing that i can think has changed is the power went off last night, which casued the Xserve to restart. These problems are occuring across all client computers so i am assuming it can only be a problem with the server.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be, or any tests that i can do to detmine what is up with it
    Many Thanks
    Tim Pearson

    Hi David,
I have just tried power-cycling the switches, still getting the same problem.
I will run disk utility on the shares at lunch. I don't think this will help as it is happening on both data drives.
I have now also updated the OS X server to 10.4.7, and have turned the access log and error log on, it is showing no errors in the error log, and i can't see anything in the access log that looks out of the ordinary.
With Quark i can replicate the same problem every time by creating a new project, saving it, altering it and saving it again (this works), then if i alter it again and try and save it comes up with "Duplicate File Name [-48]". It is also not deleting the temporary files, for example "QXP-1055966280.qxp".

  • Fonts, leopard and quark?

Not really a question but an observation.
Two new imacs, identical configuration. Both purchased together. Some different software installed on each is the only difference.
Mac 1. 10.5.2 quark 7.1 fonts work fine and all appear. eg avenir font
Mac 2. 10.5. , quark 7.3 fonts don't work fine, avenir won't be seen by quark when installed. Same font used.
Haven't tried at home yet to see if I can see them there. How about what everyone else has

    Hi emad&c,
Silly me! I forgot I had an evaluation disk for Quark 7. So I installed it on both a G5 running 10.4.11 and an Intel Core Duo 2 iMac running Leopard 10.5.2. Updated both Quark installations to 7.31.
I was unable to duplicate your problem. Any font I opened worked as expected on both Macs, even Avenir, which I have as a Type 1 PostScript font.
What I did find is that Quark moved the jaws folder. It's no longer in with the application. For version 7.x, go to the Preferences folder in your user account. Open the Quark folder within and delete the jaws folder. Relaunch Quark.

  • Microsoft Office Document Icons in Leopard

Since upgrading to Leopard, the new default icons for Microsoft Office documents are driving me crazy. I can't tell the difference between Excel and Word and Powerpoint, etc. Can I simply revert to the old color-coded microsoft icons? Thanks.

    Hello BenMann12,
The default for Office 2008 is to save a picture preview of every file as the file icon. To have the apps save with a normal application icon, launch Word, Excel and PowerPoint. In the Preferences for each app, click on the Save button. Uncheck "Save preview picture with new documents".

  • Just updated to 7.0.1 for Mac Snow Leopard, but the icon in my dock isn't the firefox symbol, it's a "document" icon. How can I get the firefox icon in my dock again?

I was given an auto-update message from Firefox, which asked me to restart the program to initiate the update. As soon as Firefox restarted, I got a weird document icon in my dock - in the place where the Firefox icon was moments before. The new update of Firefox seems to be working just fine, but I would like the Firefox icon in my dock and not this unrelated icon. Can you help, please?

I had this problem. Re-instal Firefox. After you drag the Firefox icon in to the Applications icon it is going to ask you if you're sure that you want to replace the version that's there - say yes. Then go down to your dock and remove the Firefox icon - drag it off the dock so it "poof!s" away. You can now put the icon on your dock again from your newly updated version. If that doesn't fix it drag it off the dock again, probably no need to re-update for the third time. Fixed it for me anyway. GL!

  • Greetings: I have just acquired an older mini mac (2006 1.66 ghz core 2 duo) Anyway, it had Tiger 10.4 on it and the Bluetooth worked.  I upgraded to Snow Leopard and everything works fine - except Bluetooth. The Bluetooth icon isn't there. Any ideas?

    Greetings:
I have just acquired an older mini mac (2006 1.66 ghz core 2 duo) Anyway, it had Tiger 10.4 on it and the Bluetooth worked for the wireless Apple keyboard and mouse.  I upgraded to Snow Leopard and everything works fine - everything except Bluetooth.
The Bluetooth icon does not exist in the System Preferenc screen.
I tried to download Bluetooth from Apple site but the message I got told me that I didn't need it.
Under Finder, Utilities, I found Bluetooth File Exchange but the message I got was that I had to connect a Bluetooth device to my computer.
I have to admit that I have no idea what's going on here.  I am hoping to avert the need to try another complete re-install of Snow Leopard.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Puzzled is a polite word for it.
Thanks Barry - I found the file and trie to send it to trash.  The response: (This item cannot be trashed as it it owned by the system).
After dancing around with PRAM and SMC and turning on while holding the power-cntrl-option-shift and heavens knows what else, I now have the Bluetooth symbol on the top of the menu bar but it is ghoseted and has a squiggly line through it.   This, I didn't have before so I read this as some progress.  It notes that "Bluetooth is not available">
However, the Bluetooth icon is still missing from the System Preferences window - you know, between "network" and "sharing".
You note that you reckon the issue is not software based and you may be correct.  The reason that I wonder about that though, is that before I installed Snow Leopard, the keyboard and mouse both paired with the box under the Tiger 10.4.  That leads me to conclude that hardware is functional and that there is some screwy little bit of software that is not cooperating.
If I could delete Bluetooth from the system and re-install a fresh version, that might help.  Or, is there a way I can use the Snow Leopard install disc and only load in Bluetooth?
    I'm stumped.
    Thanks for your time
    /Bill C.

  • Documents icon on PR and PO

We are bringing attachments over from SRM to R3.  To view the attachments on the requisition and/or PO, the user would select the line and click on the documents icon.  If no attachments exist, they will get a blank screen.
Is there a way to suppress the documents icon if there are no attachments?  If not, is there a easier way for users to determine if an attachment exists without clicking on the icon?
    Monique Stephens

Are you talking about the icon "Services for Object" at the left of the title of ME2xN?
If yes, I don't know of a way to suppress that from appearing. Remember that is a broader functionality than just showing links from SRM. There you can attatch any documens (*.DOC, *.xls) send notification and process workflows.
    Cheers,
    Leonardo

  • Pages App, is showing the titles of all my documents but icons are a black and white pages icons and the files won't open, what can I do?

I recently updated iTunes and had several crashes on the next sync with my ipad2. Now when I open the Pages App, all my documents are shown with a black and white Pages icon, the title and date created is there but I cannot open any of the documents I created with this app, I have about 2 months of work I need to be able to open!

It sounds like you are seeing what you should see when you are in the thumbnail view of all of the documents. If none of the files will open when you tap on them, try quitting Pages completely and then restart the iPad and try again.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button

  • Leopard, Photoshop and Quark

Since loading Leopard I have problems with Photoshop not creating an EPS of a path to make only the object appear with the background (transparent) as I have dione hundreds of times with the older software. When importing the EPS into Quark it shows the white background. This concrns Leopard,Photoshop 10 and Quark 7.3 -- When I go to another machine with older software I can make the EPS and then take it to the new software. Funnily enough then the transparency is as expected. So who is at fault? Leopard?

    Hi, Jeff --
Well, I think my problem is finally solved, thanks (partly) to your help. Just to help other folks who have this problem, I'm going to state briefly how I fixed it:
-- I did an Erase and Install on the Seagate AFTER spending all day burning 30 CDs with the archived files I'd taken off the Mac but didn't want to lose.
-- After that, I could indeed boot up the Mac from the Seagate in 10.3 and all seemed fine.
-- But I made the mistake of doing a full backup to the Seagate from the Mac (which took two hours).
-- After that, I couldn't boot up the Seagate at all -- I spent two 20-minute periods waiting for it to get off the gray screen with the Apple log, to no avail. A friend of mine suggested that the backup program might be the problem.
-- After some trepidation but knowing that I already had everything I needed on those 30 CDs, I decided to experiment and partition the Seagate (via Disc Utility) into one partition with only the 10.3 install on it and the other with whatever files I needed, including the applications I needed to open in 10.3.
-- That worked!! I can now boot up the Seagate "10.3 drive" and access all the files and applications I need from the Seagate "Backup Drive."
I hope this information helps someone else in the same predicament.
Thanks for all your help and patience; your suggestion to do an Erase and Install was the right move to get me started.

  • Restore Download and Document Icons

I somehow deleted the Download and document icon from the dock and can't seem to restore it back. I have tried everything but, I have not figured it out. I know its probably simple. Please help!
    Steve

Drag the downlads folder from your home directory into the dock, between the trash icon and the separator bar. Hold it there for a few seconds and the dock will expand and make room for you to drop the folder there. You may have to move it around slightly to get it right between the trash and the separator icon. If it's over anything else on the dock besides being right between them then it wont recognize your effort to put something there and wont make room for you to drop the folder where you want it.

  • Leopard and Adobe Photoshop CS2 problems...

I've been reading the posts about Leopard and CS2 problems and have to say that I'm confused. A great many of you have had issues from the very beginning as soon as you upgraded to Leopard. I did not. I use a VERY basic set-up without third party plugins and suspect that to be why I had no problems. At least until now... I looked back through my documents to be sure, and my Photoshop was working beautifully through the first week of January. Somewhere between then and now there had to be an update from Apple that broke Photoshop. I haven't changed any settings since it last worked, and there certainly haven't been any updates from the greedy buggers over at Adobe because they don't support CS2 anymore apparently. What could Apple have updated that might have accidently corrupted my Photoshop?? I don't really feel it could be anything else, but who knows... Does anyone have any ideas? I would hate to have to downgrade to OS 10.4 just to use my Photoshop and I certainly can't afford to shell out the extra $$ for CS3.
I appreciate any light you guys can shed on the topic...
    Stan

Actually the 10.5.2 update does seem to have improved things for me with Photoshop CS1. I can now actually type entries into the little boxes for things like crop and brush sizes. The File Browser is still prone to crashing the application though, and there is still some weirdness with opening files by a drag and drop onto the app icon in the Dock. But nothing got worse, and several annoyances disappeared.
One thing to try is to create a brand new admin test user, with no additions (that includes not adding fonts), log into the new account and see if Photoshop will work there.
And speaking of fonts, do you have Linotype's Font Explorer installed? If so, did you get the new updater for it? Some people who use Font Explorer were having a lot of problems after the 10.5.2 update, including Photoshop failure to launch, that were fixed with the Font Explorer update.
