This error message is seen every time when first starting Windows Vista, PRIOR to starting Photoshop Elements 12.1
It does not seem to interfere with the normal operation of Photoshop Elements, but it is a constant annoyance.

Make sure your machine meets the minimum system requirements:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
Although it says 2 GB RAM is the minimum, it's generally recommended to have at least 4 GB unless you only use your machine for "light" use (no movie editing/burning, etc).

  • New Tab Homepage is different from the Homepage when first starting Firefox.

My homepage is set for "Google search engine" (or)"http://www.google.com/" . Whenever I first start Firefox, the page displayed is the "http://www.google.com/". Whenever I hit the "Open A New Tab" button that is a "+" (plus) sign, the page displayed is always the "Yahoo" search engine (or "search.yahoo./" (after the slash, there is a lot of numbers and letters)).

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.

    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.

    If it's a core Duo & not a Core2Duo, then it'll only run in 32 bit mode.
    Lion/101.7 System requirements
        •    x86-64 processor (Macs with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Intel Core i3, Intel Core i5, Intel Core i7, or Xeon processor.)
        •    At least 2GB of memory, I say 6 GB
        •    Latest version of Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8), with the Mac App Store installed
        •    At least 4GB of disk space for downloading, I say 50 GB.
Like Snow Leopard, Lion does not support PowerPC-based Macs (e.g., Power Macs, PowerBooks, iBooks, iMacs (G3-G5), eMacs).
Lion also does not support 32-bit Intel Core Duo or Core Solo based Macs. Rosetta is no longer available in Lion, which means Lion no longer supports PowerPC applications.

  • Safari 6.0.5 beachballing at first start on lion

Are any others experiencing this issue? Iam on a white MacBook2,1, if it helps.

    Hey Cristian .b,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
I understand your MacBook is becoming unresponsive when starting Safari. The following article provides some troubleshooting steps that may help:
OS X Lion: If your Mac runs slowly

If you continue to have issues, you may want to isolate further by starting up in safe mode:

  • I have a macbook white (Snow leopard), just started using mac, Is there anyway we can use the Iphone Apps( downloaded from ITune) on Mac

I have a macbook white (Snow leopard), just started using mac, Is there anyway we can use the Iphone Apps( downloaded from ITune) on Mac, they are getting saved in Mobile applications and have ipa extension

The operating systems for iOS devices and for Macs are completely different. Applications written for iOS won't run on a Mac no matter what fiddles you try with it. You can sometime extract data by opening the package, but it still won't do you any good. Look in the Mac App Store in your Applications folder to see if there are Mac versions or similar programs (iTunes login required).

I am running Leopard OS X 10.5.8.  I want to upgrade to Lion.  Do I need to download Snoe Leopard first?
    Thanks

I cannot make that determination for you. Snow Leopard is not available as a download. You have to purchase it at an Apple Store or order it online. Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later is required to purchase and download Lion from the App Store. Total cost would be $59.00 exclusive of tax and shipping (if any.)
Sometime this month Apple plans to make available a USB flash drive containing the full standalone Lion installe for $69.00. If you did not want Snow Leopard then you may want to wait for this to be available.

  • Can I upgrade to Lion from OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard)?  Do I need to install Snow Leopard first?  If so, Which version?

Can I upgrade to Lion from OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard)?  Do I need to install Snow Leopard first?  If so, Which version?

There are only two versions of Snow Leopard, the ordinary one and the server edition.  Most people have no need of the server edition.  Any Snow Leopard retail disc, no matter how old, even 10.6.0, can be updated to 10.6.8, so the version is pretty much irrelevant.  You need to make sure your hardware is up to scratch for Lion though - you have to have an Intel processor, Core 2 Duo or better - NOT Core Duo.

  • I want to upgrade from Tiger 10.5 to Lion. I need to install the snow leopard first but they stoped shipping it to Greece. How do I get it? Please help.

    Hello guys!
I am facing a big problem.  I need to upgrade from OS X 10.5 to Lion BUT I need to upgrade to Snow Leopard first. They have stoped shipping to Greece and I am not able to find it anywhere (even Amazon does not ship this product here!!!) What I am supposed to do? Please help me.

Clone backup your hard drive at least twice*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
Erase and install Lion from the USB Flash Drive version that's available on the online store.
Use the Migration Assistant to import the data, if you are certain everything is compatible with Lion.  Read this user tip to determine if it might be incompatible:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2465
If you have any PowerPC (Rosetta) Applications, you may have to manually import the data from the backup:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2295
And then find the applications that are equivalent to them that are Lion compatible.

You'll need to purchase Snow Leopard (10.6) from the Apple Store before you can use the App Store application.

  • Lightroom 2.4 on XP crashes on first start up

I have the trial version on an XP machine with a 3.4 ghz processor, 1 GB of ram, a GeForce 6600 (512mb) graphics card. Ever since I downloaded the program it freezes all the time. Initially it would freeze on startup and crash my start bar soon after as well. After I installed Photoshop CS3 it now runs until I try to do anything major and again crashes the start bar. AFTER all that if I can get the program started again it runs just fine. Its not maxing out the ram or anything and CS3 runs beautifully without any issues. It will do this on every first start up of the program. If I restart and try again it freezes again like clockwork.
Any recommendations? Should I uninstall and reload or is it system related?

I see. I'll give it a shot and see what happens. The answer does make sense in a way, but I have a feeling its more than a lack of RAM and/or updated drivers...but that's just cuz I'm a pessimist. Thanks for the suggestion.
    EDIT-
After removing a few unused programs from startup and freeing some ram it seems lightroom won't lockup anymore. Interestingly enough it does not come near maxing out my ram. I can run LR and CS3 at the same time and only under intense usage of photoshop can I come close to maxing out the ram but both programs still run. Even before the modifications LR wasn't maxing out on ram hence my skeptiscism. So, I can only stipulate you were right. Thanks again for the help. Hopefully *knocks on wood* this problem has been solved.

I've got the Macbook Pro with leopard, if i want to get Lion for it, do i have to get snow leopard first? i don't have a mac app store!

Ian, this might help explain it a bit more:
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/06/07/mac-os-x-10-7-lion-system-requirements/
It's only available from the store, and you need 10.6.6 to access the store. But if you can download it using 10.6.6 on another machine, you'll be able to install it on a machine meeting the hardware requirements (it doesn't matter which OS was installed on it).
