Leopard Gives My iBook Brain Freeze - Please Help

Hi All,
I decided to upgrade my iBook G4 (1.07 GHz with 512 RAM) to Leopard after running 10.4.11. But before I upgraded, I made a back up of drive on an extrernal hard drive. Then I went through the install and it took about 3 hours, but it installed everything. Then it restarted my iBook and I logged in, but then my background image loads and my beach ball just spins. For hours (I let it sit over night and it did nothing). I can move my cursor over the dock and it pops up, but if I click on an application it will load (like Safari will load but just sit there with a the load bar frozen at 15%).
So I turn to everyone here for help. I tried to re-install Leopard and it did nothing and I still have the same issue. Any help would be awesome.

If you have safely backed up all of your files; music, fotos, videos, etc., then I recommend a complete Erase & Install. Use the Disk Utility found in the Utilities menu of the Leo Installer. Erase the HD and use the simple option to write zeros to the HD. This will also lock out any bad sectors which your HD may have. Then install Leo. You can even do a custom install and gain a few extra GBs by only installing the language and printer driver resources that you really need. Finally you can carefully bring over your files from the back up.
This process should eliminate whatever is hanging over from your previous install and messing up Leo for your enjoyment.

Antivirus has a tendency to freeze iTunes sync Operation with iPod Classic, causing a timeout, which corrupt your iPod filesystem, so when iTunes can't read the iPod, it is pointing to this problem. Other causes is when your iPod hardisk is dying, or your battery is dying causing hardisk crashes.
My suggestion.
Connect your iPod to the PC and run chkdsk, to fix any iPod diskerror, then disconnect it, after chkdsk complete.
Disconnect your PC from Internet. (just to make sure no nasties creep into your system while you syncing.
Stop the Antivirus program
Connect your Ipod to the PC
When iTunes Open up, Restore your iPod please, this is for iTunes to map correctly, to fix the corrupted filesystem.
When Restore complete, eject the iPod and reconnect again.
Sync your ipod, preferably manually Manage in small batches and disconnect after every batch, to check that all is well, since you got such a huge library.
When all sync is complete, and iPod disconnected, start back your Antivirus and connect back the Internet.
If this doesn't resolve your problem, then let me know.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
It would help us help you if you provided the exact text of any error messages.

Hello i have and imac G5 i bought it in about june of 2005...
It was running very slow and always freezing and then i upgraded the RAM to 1gb
and it started working much better. then i upgraded to OS Leopard andalso pro tools LE 7.4
and since then has been performing slow and freezing all the time. ai recently added another gig of RAM just to see if that was the problem , but it seems to be working just as slow. Does anybody know what it might be. Its a 1.6 GHZ power PC G5 and has a 80GB HD and have about 20 GB free so i dont think thats it. Please let me know if any of you have had this problem or know how to fix it thanks

Except for the keyboard & mouse, disconnect all devices from your computer.
Repair your disk from your System DVD.
Repairing permissions from the Tiger or Leopard DVD
Boot up from your Tiger or Leopard Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
If Disk First aid is able to complete the repair now click on the "Repair permissions" button.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer.

My new ibook keeps crashing. please help.

i have had my ibook for 3 months and recently it has started to freeze and requests me to shut it down by a grey screen covering the desktop instructing me to press the restart button. I have no choice is it wont let me carry on using the application.
during this last week it has been making loud wirring noises and lots of text saying it is currupt and it has a crash report appears on the screen in black lines right after the pointer freezes. it happens after about 5 mins after i have logged in.
please help me as it is scaring me! I havent downloaded anything currupt as once when it detected a currupt file i cancelled it. if there is anything i can do myself to help before i call the technicians in then it would be great. thanks.
p.s is limewire known as a problem programme?

Whilst Lyssa is quite correct in saying that kernel panics can be caused by hardware issues, they can be caused by OS and software issues too.
So before you start opening up your iBook...
As your iBook is only 3 months old, you won't be able to find the airport card as they are now wired it. When Airport was offered as an option they were user installable. They are not so any more. Certainly the factory installed additional RAM could be faulty, but try the following first.
Firstly I would try the info provided by Dr Smoke (a very clever chap who contributes regularly here) on his X-Lab website.
Troubleshooting Startup and Login Items,
Resolving disk, permission, and cache corruption.
To begin with, concentrate on the 'Permissions', 'Safe boot' and 'Repair disk'.
Secondly, as your iBook is less than 90 days old you are entitled still to full free hardware and software telephone support from Apple. Don't leave phoning them past the end of Feb as you will lose the software support and they will charge you if the problem turns out to be software related. (Unless you purchased AppleCare...).
They would probably have you run through the above anyway so you've got nothing to lose in trying those first.

Lock-Ups and Freezes PLEASE HELP

I come here to see if anyone can help me... Ive done it all and nothing is working.
I just recently started having problems with my computer, im not sure why this happend but ill try to explain everything as best as I can.
The problem started a few days ago while I was playing SWG's. I was playing and all of a sudden my machine froze, the screen locked-up and then after about 2 min the entire system restarted. I then logged back into my windows and after a while a system froze and restarted yet again. I though it was a SWGs issue but then the computer would freeze while browsing the net and doing other tasks.
I have formated my machine, re-installed my drivers, and re-installed the hardward. Nothing has worked.
My computer specs are

If what you are saying, and I am reading correctly:
The machine and game was working just peachy and all of a sudden the problem manifested itself?
Did you do ANYTHING to change your system prior to this happening to possibly have an effect?
the fast that you said you have re-loaded the OS and removed and re-installed the hardware with the same result tells me that there may be some sort of hardware failure and this could get difficult to troubleshoot.
First things first, try a memory testing software like memtest86 to see if you get any errors.

Computer freezes -- PLEASE HELP

Each time a new song starts on my iTunes, about 10 seconds into the song my memory usage for iTunes will shoot up from 53,000K to 85,000K and will cause everything I am doing on my computer to freeze up for about 5-10 seconds. Like I said, this happens for each successive song. I have a 13,000+ song library and did not have this problem with iTunes 4.9 -- I recently updated to 5.0.1 and started experiencing this. So, I tried uninstalling 5.0.1 and reinstalling 4.9, but the same problem was now happening there as well. This is NOT a problem with my hardware, it is more than sufficient to support this usage, and happens even when iTunes is the only program running on the computer. PLEASE HELP, it is very annoying to have to stop what I'm doing and wait for 5 seconds each time a new song starts.

Boot from your original Tiger cd and run Disk Utility Repair Disk from there - it can repair directory problems which can't be fixed from normal Disk Utility.
If that doesn't work, an archive and reinstall of Tiger might be best - it's pretty simple and can save weeks of trying to track down and fix an obscure problem. Just make sure you thoroughly backup first. Check Apple's website for instructions http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120. Disconnect all peripherals while you reinstall.
Once Tiger's reinstalled, download the combo update from here http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ (Note - don't use Software update for this). Re-attach peripherals one-by-one to see if anything is still upsetting Tiger.
I would then recommend you install third party software Macaroni, http://www.atomicbird.com/ to automate the necessary admin tasks needed to keep OSX in tip-top shape.

Imac usb keyboard/mouse freezes - please help!

i have a 700 mhz g4 flat-panel, 768 RAM, 40 GB disk, running OS 10.4.5.
the keyboard and mouse keep freezing up. sometimes one, sometimes the other. if i unplug the offending one and plug it back it, it works fine. i've tried using different USB ports, and re-setting the PRAM, but after a few minutes of use, the problem comes back.
please help!

Thanks. I was just going to post that I had more information. Luckily, it seems to jive with what you suspect.
This crash was different. Instead of a "freeze" it panicked. In the USB driver, naturally.
It was throwing these log entries beforehand:

On my THIRD iPod Touch aka " Mr. Freeze" Please Help!!!

I got my first 16GB iPod touch back in November and it was GREAT! I never had any function problems at all. It always tuned on , turned off , charged , synced , slept , and played just as it was supposed to. Then after about 2 months the left channel audio started cutting out . So I made a service request and sent it off to AppleCare where they quickly identified the problem and replaced my iPod with a different one.
Now the first night I had this replacement iPod it froze up on me and would not do anything until I held the home and Power button for 5 seconds until it restarts. This became a daily ritual. EVERYDAY I would go to use this iPod and it would be frozen , you could look at the screen under direct light and see that the screen was not completely off , you could not see pictures or backgrounds just different shades of black blocks and bars accross the screen vertically. And while it is in the frozen state is drains the battery VERY quickly. I can finish using the iPod at the end the end of the day with at least 75% battery left , turn it off and go home and check it 2 hours later and it will be frozen and when I get it to restart the battery is in the RED. When it is in this frozen state connecting it to the computer does nothing , the computer will not see it at all as long as it is frozen. It tried the 5 R's to every extent with no positive results.
So I got frusterated and made another service request and sent it off to AppleCare to be "Serviced". They said their technicians could find nothing wrong with it , that it met all of Apples quality control guidelines and function as expected by Apple , so they sent is back to me. It arrived to me FROZEN again!
So I tried to use it as was for about another month and decided you know what my first touch NEVER did anything like this in the 2 months I had it so I know it doesn't have to be this way. So I made another service request for this same (my 2nd) touch. Only this time I sent copies of a letter explaining every detail of the problems , and insisting that they either repair/replace or refund my money. Funny enough this time they iddentified and issue with it and replaced it with what is now my 3rd iPod touch.
Now this 3rd Touch does not do what the second one does. I does something NEW. it keeps going into RECOVERY mode , whatever the **** that is , so I will go to use it and it will not function nor turn on and when I connect it to my computer it says iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode and it must be restored before it can be used! So this morning I got up for work ejected the touch from my PC , it had been charging , slid the slider to unlock it and verified it was charged and ready to go abnd then turned the screen off and drove to work. Fifteen minutes later I go to turn the music on and it is stuck in recovery mode.Now I have really had it!!! If it's not annoying enough that this has to keep happening all my music is on my PC at home. So I plug it in to my PC at work and its says it has detected an iPod in recovery mode and must be restored, so I can restore it but then there is no Music on it until I can get back home to resync it with my home PC. So for the entire rest of the day I have and iPod that is no longer frozen , but also has NO content on it!This happens once maybe twice a week , not near as frequent as the last replacement Touch they sent me and it seems to be a different issue also , but still a problem just the same.
I don't understand why this keeps happening?!?! All the content is the same accross all 3 Touch's I have had. My usage remains the same for all 3. Nothing has changed accept the Firmware version between the three. The first touch was 1.1.2 the second was 1.1.3 and the third is 1.1.4.
And of course I never had any problems until I purchased the January Software Upgrade POS. Is it possible that the JSU is causing all of this? Is there a way to remove the JSU off of this Touch or would I have to revert back to 1.1.2 Firmare? And if so can it be done? If I have to do that and it is indeed the problem can I obtain a refund for the JSU because it CRIPPLES the iPod??

Well, I am VERY particular about keeping my electronics MINT. I have never not used a protective case and I have to say it is almost heart breaking to imagine the scratchs my Touch will have on that shiny back after just one day without a case...........but I am desperate. I must say I really do love my Touch. It is my 15th Media player and beyond all comparison the best Media Player I have ever owned and I am willing to do whatever is necessary to remedy this situation and be able to use my Touch as intended once again.
What gripes me the most is that I paid premium price for this iPod Touch and it has virtually no Tech support. It baffles me. I had ONE tech support phone call available within 90 days and I used it on the first Touch so now I can't phone tech support , you cannot e-mail tech support , my only option is to place a service request and send it to AppleCare and you can't give a decent description of the problem even then because you are limited to 200 characters and I am damned tired of sending it back and forth. Is it really so hard to offer decent Tech support for these $400 and $500 Media Players? Dozens of other manufactures manage to do it so why can't Apple? They've got an AMAZING product , why not give it AMAZING support? Thats all I'm saying.

Problem with Desktop Skype freezing, please help

2 days ago, Dec. 23rd, I started up Skype as usual, but after about a minute, it froze, soon becoming "not responding". I opened Task Manager to try to end it manually, but Task Manager quickly became "not responding" as well, as did Chrome when I opened it when I tried to search for a solution. This had never happened before, and since has only happened when I am trying to use Skype for Desktop. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times, switching to an older version, and running an antivirus scan to see if a virus might be causing the problem, but none of this helped, and it still freezes itself along with all my other programs, forcing me to restart my computer if I want to be able to use it. I have been using Windows 8 Skype instead today, with no problems, but Skype for Desktop is more convenient for me, and I would very much appreciate it if someone would please help me.
Also, I don't know if this might be related to the problem, but today I had Task Manager open before starting Skype for Desktop, hoping I could end it before it caused everything to freeze (I couldn't), I was able to see before it froze that Skype was using 100% of my Disk.

Please, run the DirectX diagnostics tool.
Go to Windows Start and in the Run box type dxdiag.exe and press the OK button. This will start the DirectX diagnostics program. Run this diagnostics and save the results to a file. Please, attach this file to your post.
Be aware that you will have to zip this file before attaching it here.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

Premiere Pro CS6 Freezing - Please Help

I've been at this all day, have uninstalled and reinstalled different (earlier) versions of Quicktime, uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere, and the program still won't run, freezing at 'Loading ExporterQuicktimeHost.prm.' I've tried everything I could find on the Internet. Please help if you know of a solution. I've been running the program for almost a year and this has never happened before...
