Leopard is not letting me print in Black and White!!!!

I was able to do it before with the Quartz Filter option.... but that has been removed in leopard..... What can I do??.... HELP!!!!

The Quartz Filter entry under ColorSync is not present in OS X 10.5
(Leopard) -- at least at the present time. The Quartz Filter for Black and
White still exists, however. It's just not tied into the print window.
The easiest way I have found to use the Black and White option is as
follows:
1. Go to print the document. Use the item "Open PDF in Preview" item
under the PDF Services drop down menu at the bottom left of the print
window.
2. When the document appears in Preview, choose Save As… from the File
menu.
3. You can either change the name or use the Replace option when
prompted. Select the output format as PDF and use the Quartz Filter to
select "Black and White".
4. Make sure you have the name and location to save the document as you
want it. Click the Save button.
The resulting document will be in Black and White and you can print it
normally.
You can also provide feedback to Apple and request that the Quartz filters be implemented in the print window again. http://apple.com/feedback/macosx.html

  • Color LaserJet 2605dn Printing only Black and white

I have a Color Laserjet 2605dn and all of the color ink cartridges have run dry. However the Black cartridge has over 2,000 pages of ink in it and the printer will not let me prink only Black and White. It seems the color cartridges must also have ink in them in order for the printer to print. Does anyone know a work around so that I can print with the Black Cartridge and not purchase the color cartridges?

    Hi Jeeeez,
I understand you have a Photosmart 7520 that you're wondering if you can print with when one of the colors is out. I will certainly do my best to address you question!
Unfortunately this printer requires all of the ink cartridges have something in them whether you are trying to use that particular cartridge or not. This is simply for the health of the printhead, because if it dries out then nothing will print at all, new ink or not. Once you have all of the inks with something in them inserted in the printer you can set it to print in Black Ink Only from the computer as well for future use.
If you'd like to know how to set the printer to print using Black Ink Only from the computer, please let me know which version of Mac or Windows that you're using and I will get back to you with instructions.
Hope this answers your question, have a great day!!

  • My hp deskjet 9362c will not print in black and white/error message says the printer mode is set at

can not get my hp deskjet 932c to print in black and white.  error message states print mode in auto, but I can't find the print mode to correct.  printer was printing in black and white or color automatically til last night, then in middle of document quit altogether.  new cartridges get the same results.

Check the paper type settings.  If this is set to "automatic" and the paper type is detected as photo paper then black only print is not available.  (The black pigmented ink is not compatible with photo paper.)  What is your operating system?

my printer is Hp printer 932C it will only print in black and white not color I got a new color cartage nothing still only printing in back and whit what can i do

There are a few things to check:
Make sure the blue tape has been removed from the nozzle plate.
Print a diagnostic page as shown in method 4 here.  Does this page print color?  If so the issue may be your driver settings.  Check for a "Print in grayscale" setting and uncheck this box.

  • Printing via eprint only prints in black and white, not colour

If I have a connection to my printer via USB cable or my home wireless network I can print in colour without specifying it in the print job (I.e. it appears to be the default). However, if I send a document to my printer via email using hpeprint then my documents always print in black and white.
I have an hp laserjet pro 400 color m451nw.
Any help would be gratefully received coz this is driving me crazy!

No Problem!  I am glad to hear that ePrint is printing in the desired color option at this point.   I see you are now having an issue with color vs b&w on Cloud Print.  Are you meaning Google Cloud Print?  If so, are you printing using Google Cloud Print from a computer or from a mobile device?
If you are using a mobile device, then are you using the Google Cloud Print App?  What is the OS type of the device? (Apple iOS, Android, Windows mobile, etc)
I can provide you with the correct steps to change these settings, but need to know the method of which you are printing.
    Have a wonderful day,

  • PSC 1510 All in one printer - won't print even black and white when colour cartridge not recognised

My PSC 1510 All in one printer is flashing the "check printer cartrige icon" and both "Black" and "Colour" icons at the bottom left of the printer.
It won't print at all, even when I select grayscale (black and white). The help pages tell me that if I remove the colour cartridge the printer will switch to backup mode and I'll still be able to print in black and white (though not copy or scan). But this is not the case, and I can find no way of switching manually to backup mode. The help pages have no useful explanation of backup mode. I've also tried cleaning the cartridge (which I'm pretty sure isn't empty) but that makes no difference.
Can anyone help? I'd be very grateful.

gabri21 wrote: I have a very similar problem with my PSC1510 but only the colour cartridge light is blinking. I am also unable to find any useful information to set up printing in back up mode. Can anyone assist in resolving this problem for us?
With only one cartridge light blinking I would suspect the cartridge, they do rarely fail (much more often for reman cartridges, see here).  Clean the cartridge contascts as shown here.  If that fails and the cartridge is an original HP then check the warranty date as shown here.  If the cartridge is in warranty return it to your dealer for a warranty replacement.
The printer will automatically switch to backup mode if the black (or color in some printers) cartridge is removed.  I do not know if this works with the PSC 1510, some all-in-on devices insist on having both cartridges present.

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that your HP Envy 7645 does not have the grayscale option in advanced set up to print in black and white, on Windows 7. I am happy to help!  It is possible, that you may only have the basic driver installed, instead of the full feature software and drivers. I would recommend to try our HP Print and Scan Doctor first, to see if ti can resolve the issue automatically. Otherwise, please try the following steps:  Uninstall the software. • Laserjet Pro 400 color MFP M475dw print in black and white

    Hello,
I have a Laserjet Pro 400 color MFP M475dw printer that is contected to a network so that multiple users can print from it. I want to be able to restrict it so that they can only print in black and white and double sided. Is this possible? and if so could you please tell me how?
I am not able to restrict them on a print by print basis, hence I am looking for a solution where I only have to make the change once.
    Thanks for your help!

I understand you want to change a setting one time so that no matter who is sending the printer a print job it prints in gray scale.  Actually I found two ways to do it.  Here is the basic way to do it as described on page 16 of the User Guide.  Also, you could set up this printer to receive emails (ePrint) in gray scale only.  I just did a test after making changes in my ePrint settings at www.eprintcenter.com and no color was printed on a regular document containing color.  I hope that answers your question.  If not, let me know. I will be happy to explain greater detail.
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" if I helped solve your problem.

  • Why can't I print in black and white only?

Why is the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus not able to print black and white only if the black cartridge is still not empty?
What I mean is I went into the settings to set the printer to print black and white only as well as print text only in black.  Yet I am FORCED to replace the cyan, magenta, and yellow cartridges because they are depleted.  What does cyan, magenta, and yellow ink have anything to do with printing black considering a SEPARATE black cartridge exists and is still full?
I am aggravated at how the driver for this printer is designed TO FORCE me to purchase nonblack cartridges when I purposefully set the printing to be BLACK ONLY.  I am unable to go forward with my printing.  This is considered a show stopper and is unacceptable considering that the setting I assigned and the cartridge(s) depleted message contradict each other.  If the setting is made to print in black and white only including text, then print black and white since I know the black ink is still available.
Take into consideration that printing can take place at anytime.  Not being able to use black as my alternate color (WHICH IS NOT EMPTY AND IS A SEPARATE CARTRIDGE) forces me to stop.  I am unable to go forward until the store opens.  WalMart is not always an option.   That is time lost.
The inability to switch to use the black cartridge only is a time waster.
Let's call it for what it is, a form of ransom. HP wants me to spend money on color cartridges that have nothing to do with printing black and white.   When I am ready to print in color, that should be a time of my choosing.
Incidentally, the form I am trying to print is black and white only.  No color is on this form.  It makes no sense to force color printing of a black and white document.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
To protect itself specially the printheads, many printers NEED other inks even they only print black. During the warming up process, printers require all inks therefore they may stop before we can continue. Some printers allow user to print (specially the ones which have tri-color ink tank) but they may print at a baby snail speed.
    Regards.

  • Photoshop CS5 only prints in black and white

Photoshop CS 5.1 only prints in black and white. It is not a new printer (Kodak) and I have printed in color in photoshop in the past. All other applications will print in color. Have removed the settings folder, but that did not do anything.

This sounds like a conflict with your printer's driver and Ps. Have you looked at a newer one?
Have you checked the Color settings in your printer's driver? Many, like most of my Epsons, can be set to B/W only. Those settings are on a print-job basis, and once I exit from a program, they are not usually retained, and go to the default, however that has been set.
Please let us know model and then driver numbers, as there might be something there.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
