Leopard Login Screen has Seperate Display Color Profile

I have a very odd, yet seemingly simple, problem. I am the Admin on my Macbook Pro, and one day the Leopard Login screen started displaying in a completely different display profile (it has a purple hue). Once I log-in, the colors return to normal.
Is there a way to fix this? It's quite irritating!
Thank you!

Hey Aereo,
Did you ever get an answer to this? My MBP is doing the same thing, every now and then. When it does it, I go to System Preference, pick Displays and it immediately fixes the problem.
Any thoughts out there on what is causing this?
Thanks!
Matt

How do I delete a display color profile?  I created several over time when calibrating monitor with a Datacolor Spyder.  I have not been able to delete any old profiles because the "Delete Profile" button is grayed out and not responding.  I repaired permissions but that didn't help.

Shared Profiles are located in the following folder:
    /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays/
From the finder menu bar, Go... > Go to Folder > /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/Displays/

HP OfficeJet 8600 printer screen display has stopped working.  Not sure when, as printer would still "wake up" when I touched the screen and would print.  However, today I had to get a new gateway modem from my ISP and now have a different home network.  Instructions I've found on updating the printer with this information involve using the printer's screen.  I've tried rebooting it.  Any ideas on how to get the pringer screen working?

  • Display Color Profile For iiyama HM903DT

I've just been given an iiyama HM903DT monitor but it doesn't want to play with my mac mini
The trouble is this:- If a turn on my mac with the screen powered on my machine creates a color profile for it (from monitor dcc information I suspect). That would be ok if the profile was correct but it's not. On some jpgs and tif files are massively over saturated (for example gingerbread man.tif) yet other jpegs and tifs are fine.
If I start up my mac without the screen turned on my mac defaults to "Display" for color and all is well.
I've check in Universal Access and 'Enhance Contrast' is set correctly, I've also tried using color-sync to no avail......
What can I do to stop this bug it's driving me nuts!!!

Me too. Snow leopard seems to ruin my 9CA3 screen because the color looks to be washed out.

  • Display color profiles causing gamma shift in video playback

I recently got a new monitor - Dell U2713H - to use with my macbook pro. If I use anything other than the default color profiles the gamma will shift after about 7 seconds during video playback to something much cooler and dimmer. it stays that way until the video is paused and then reverts back to what it should be. This problem doesn't happen if I stick to the default display profile. Any ideas?

    Mac OS X (10.6.8)
If your profile is correct, you should re-post in the Snow Leopard forums instead of Mountain Lion's.
If profile is incorrect, please correct so that you will get the proper troubleshooting solutions.

  • Display color profile bug when using the fast account switch from a guest account to an admin account (and vice versa)

    Hey,
I'm sometimes using a guest account on my MBP (unibody late 2008 2,4 GHz Core2Duo, 4GB DDR3 running OSX 10.9.4 on an OCZ 128GB SSD) for a more distraction-free working space and I noticed right away a disturbing bug:
Using the fast account switch (upper right hand corner of the screen) in Mavericks from an admin account to log into a guest account (or vice versa) produces, after the fancy rotating cube animation, some strange distortion of the desktop background happens (lasting approx. 2 sec.). After that the color profile of the display is changed into an usable but ugly one, which is disturbing while working with pictures. When checking the color profile in the pref pane, the standard "display" profile is said to be active (it's the one I use) but still the colors aren't the same. Selecting another profile and re-selcting the desired one doesn't fix the problem. Switching back to the other account with the fast switching leaves the colors altered. Logging out and deleting the guest account seems to the problem for the remaining admin account. Rebooting  and logging in to either of the accounts (admin or guest) from the standard account selecting page at booting shows the normal color profile.
Is it a general bug or is their anything a can do to prevent this problem (other than never using the fast switching)?
    Thanks for your advice.

I cannot agree more with your comments! What a way to frustrate your customers!
I have been having an issue with iCloud on Mac where it kept asking me for my password and sometimes would, sometimes would not continue to access my iCloud mail. Today it just refused to connect to iCloud mail.
I looked in the Mail, Contacts and Calendars in my MacBook Pro settings and discovered that 2 iCloud accounts were present. One with my original Apple ID (a gmail address) and a second with my new iCloud email ( an @me.com address). Having deleted the second account, using the new @me.com address everything is working fine.
So from my viewpoint when I moved over to iCloud I was asked to sign in with my Apple ID (the gmail address) then to create an @me.com address. However, as far as I can see all sign ins to the new @me.com account on Macbook, iPhone and iPad need to be done through the old Apple ID (the gmail address). Is that confusing and just plain crazy???
Further, after creating the new @me.com address I soon found out that this is apparently now forever bound to my old Apple ID and cannot be changed. I mean why can't I delete the iCloud account and start anew with a different @me.com address??? Also, as everybody using iCloud must create an @me.com address why on earth can I not get rid of my old gmail address and have my entire Apple ID accessed through the new @me.com address? Creating a whole new Apple ID will not solve this as we are unable to transfer purchases between accounts.
Apple products are great IMHO, but they do seem to not think things through in a very big way sometimes......

  • How to verify display color profile being used by LR?

How can I check what is the color profile LR is currently assuming for display? E.g. with Photoshop CS I go to "Color Settings", and in Working Spaces, RGB, I look for "Monitor RGB". Any idea how to do it with LR?

Not a good choice for working space in PSCS, though. Okay if all you are doing is checking the lis for what the profile is. On a Mac you go to Display in System Prefs and it says.

  • Login screen position - multiple displays

How do I change where the login screen appears when using multiple displays in Mac OS 10.6.8?

I believe it is controlled by whichever monitor you defined as the main monitor, i.e., the one containing the menu bar.  You define that with the Displays preferences, Arrangement tab.  Drag the little white image of a menu to the desired monitor.

  • Customized netweaver login screen needs seperate login for every mime

    Hi all,
we are running ECC6 and have customzed our netweaver login screen (copied CL_ICF_SYSTEM_LOGIN to <ownClass>, redefined HTM_LOGIN, maintained it in SICF, etc.).
And it works great - but:
At the first call the system wants login/pw of each mime used on the login screen.
But only for the first time.
    I can't repeat it.
But it happens to every user.
Correctly deleting cookies (close all screens; control->internet options-> delete cookies) CANNOT repeat the behaviour.
Globally invalidating http server cache CANNOT repeat the behaviour.
mimes on login screen are called like:
    https://<servername>:<https-port>/sap/bc/bsp/sap/public/bc/bsp/<applname>/xy.jpg
So we need a login to see our login screen
    pls help...

    > All URLs under /sap/public run with user SAPSYS and so don't need any login.
Bugger here is that the code which retrieves the object from the MIME repository makes an authorization check.
    CL_MIME_SERVICES method -> MIME_CHECK_AUTHORITY
So it cannot run under SAPSYS as the user cannot be assigned any authority, let alone S_DEVELOP... (which in my opinion is much too strict here...). You will need to save a SERVICE user's logon credentials into the ICF service to make it visible to the user who has not logged in yet.
    Or... use SSO..
    Cheers,

  • Isolated Bug: No playback with Lut/Curves Display Color Profiles

    Hello Apple,
I have isolated a bug a healthy dose of frustration, and I bet this is an opencl thing.
Final cut does not work at all (crashes when you press play) if you use advanced display profiles such as the ones attached below.
    http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/3610987/CurveMatrix.icc
    http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/3610987/LutMatrix.icc
I would say that this is a pretty high priority error, I am not going to be color grading with the default profiles, I presume it would be the same for most.

I get the blue tint after my MBP wakes from screen saver, and I also have an external monitor attached. The blue tint only happens on the MBP screen, not the ext monitor. It only happens when I have the external monitor connected.
This may be a bit early to declare a fix for this issue, because I don't think I have permanently, but here's what worked for me today. In the Display Preferences, I had created a new Display Profile for the external monitor. I switched it back to the default profile (in my case Dell 2007FP), and activated the screen saver. When I stopped the screen saver, no blue tint on the MBP screen. Switched back to my custom Display Profile and repeated the process. No blue tint. Hmmm... Now I can't get the blue tint to come back after numerous attempts, when before I could reproduce it at will.
Give it a try and let us know if it works for you too.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Pictures would help. A good way to do this is to post them to a free photo sharing site like Flickr and then post a link.
Also, you are in the original MBP section, and I think you need to post your question in the newer MBP section:

  • Display Color Profile Deletion

    Folks,
Is there a way to delete display profiles?
After adjusting the gamma setting I've been experimenting with various combinations.
I would like to remove the ones that I do not prefer.

If the 'Delete Profile' button is dimmed when using the System Preferences/Displays pane (Color tab)...
Try this advice from OS X Help:
    • Where are ColorSync profiles located?
To make it easy to share and organize ColorSync profiles, you can put them in several locations on your computer or network.
    • These are the standard locations for profiles on your computer:
    System profiles: System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/
    • These are the profiles used by the system. You should not attempt to modify or delete these profiles. You should not install your own profiles here.
    Computer profiles: Library/ColorSync/Profiles/
This is the recommended place to install new profiles. These profiles are available to all users, and are available to be used by ColorSync Utility.
    User Profiles: ~/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/
    • These profiles are available only to the current user. The tilde (~) character indicates your home folder.
    • Network profiles: /Network/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/
These profiles are available only if you’re connected to a network.
    • Color Management Modules (CMMs) are located here:
    /Library/ColorSync/CMMs/
To see the location of profiles:
Open ColorSync Utility, in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder.
Open ColorSync Utility - Click Profiles in the toolbar.
Click the black triangle in the upper-right corner of the profile list, and then choose “Group by location.”
    • Some third-party devices or applications store profiles in a different location or as data within the application. For more information, visit the manufacturer’s website.
