Leopard Major Internet Problem?

Hey all,
I got Leopard this morning and I'm up and running. I heard a lot of the shipments were delayed, and my second shipment of Leopard actually has been delayed until 3:02PM.
Here's the problem. I'm up and running and it looks and feels great. I am now connected to my network SSID and connected to the Internet, but my *WEB BROWSING* is SLOW. Like really slow. I'm on Verizon FIOS at 30Mbps download and 5Mbps upload, so web browsing shouldn't be slow. In fact, when I download from my corporate FTP account, I download at 3300KB/sec. However, my websites crawl to load. Is anything else seeing this problem? Other computers on my network load websites rapidly.
Thanks all!

Well, I've lost access to my modem connection speed status- they've dummied it down to green "sent" and "received" bars.
It's now in system prefs under Network...and I no longer have "Internet Connection" in my dock- it was removed by the OSX 5 install.
This may sound petty in the day of cable and wideband, but some of us still have to use dial-up.
Out here in the rural, you have unstable reliability of connect speeds and it's valuable to know if you are connected at 2400 vs. 49333, you know? If I find I am connected very slowly, it's worth it to me to terminate and re-dial.....now I have NO idea what my connect speed really is.
Looking for a widget or a stat utility that replaces the Tiger "Internet connect" ap that gives me my good old fashioned kbs....so far, no luck, and I too am finding some slow load times..... but I have no way of knowing wherther it's connection or software.
Anybody got a pointer?
Maybe I can change the config of the Network window, but I haven't found a way to add connect speed to the view.
Is there a way to get "Internet Connect" back in the dock?
I see Airport is an issue too....I can hardly wait to try to go wi-fi at the office......
Eeek.

  • Major Internet Problems

I've had slow internet problems since I first bought the CPU back in February, but I chalked it up to a crappy Linksys wireless router. I would constantly have to click on the Airport logo and select the network during use to speed up page loading. It would never drop the connection, but as soon as I clicked on the logo, the stalled page would suddenly load a lot quicker, but only for a few moments.
Then I moved to a new apartment with a T1 connection and bought a new Airport Express "n" router... still the same problems! Its even slower now (I think) and it will stop downloading/uploading often (even the 10.5.5 update). I even tried running a hard wire directly into my machine, and its still unbelievably slow... I stalled on multiple attempts to upload photos to facebook last night, and I'm fed up!
This is my first Mac, so I'm stuggling with fixing the issue. I bought this thing so I wouldn't have to deal with problems like this... someone help!

  • Leopard ? Internet problem!!

Ever since we purchased the new imac, put on leopard and changed our internet service provider, we have had intermittent (albeit weeks at a time for weeks) internet service. it seems as if the connection has just dropped!!! Also if I am on the internet and want to print or pdf a page, many times it takes AGES for the print mode to unhighlight...i have to keep going back and checking it while holding the page open. I must unplug the electrical line, unplug the connection and restart the computer EVERYTIME I want to use the internet
I don't know what the problem is. we checked the speed of the internet and it is right on....this is a brand new 24 inch mac?
Does anyone have any idea how this problem might be resolved? I have looked at the posts but not really sure what applies to our situation! Many thanks

Have you verified that the Internet service works correctly with another computer?
When the service isn't working, open a terminal window and type
    /sbin/ifconfig
Make sure that your ethernet interface has been assigned a proper address. Can you ping something outside your home network by IP address? Then you need to check that the correct nameservers are specified.
Your Internet Service Provider should be able to walk you through the basic steps of troubleshooting the connection.

  • Major Internet Problems, WRT54G ver.6

I bought a new linksys wireless router a few months ago to go with my new laptop, I set it all up and installed the software it worked fine for a few months. But two or three months ago it suddenly stopped transmitting the internet through the signal, my computer could connect to it but there wasn't any internet. I plugged directly into the modem and it worked fine. I tried reinstalling the software, updating the firmware using tftp.exe and it still didn't work. I used all the help pages and followed them correctly at the technical support area, but still nothing. I did notice something strange however... after updating the firmware and reinstalling and resetting the router, I went to "view wireless networks" and it was there, but it had a different name then when it worked, it also had a different encryptioon method. It used to have wep, now it has wpa and my network key dosen't work so I can't connect to it anymore. Then I tried to use the web based utility, since I only have one internet connection I connected it back into my modem and I tried the web based utitlity. I had to use Admin agian like the first time I logged in, becuase I did change the password. It went to one of the pages, then I clicked on about 3 other pages to find the new key, It suddenly gave me the "error: 401" page. and now I can't reconnect. PLEASE HELP! thank you.

    It sounds like either:
    a) you ran an unsecured wireless network and someone else wirelessly changed your router settings, or
    b) you are trying to update your router settings wirelessly  (Note: When updating the router, you should always use a computer that is wired to the router.)
The first thing you need to do is reset your router to factory defaults, then setup your router again from scratch.  If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:
    1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
    2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
    3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
    5) Power down the router.
    6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
    7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
    9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
    10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.
If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working.
If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is dead.
If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. In this case, use the Linksys tftp.exe program to try to reload your router with the latest firmware. After reloading the firmware, repeat the above procedure starting with step 1.
If you need additional help, please state your ISP, the make and model of your modem, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.
Please let me know how things turn out for you.

  • How Apple Solved My Internet Problem

Greeting! Let me tell you about my internet problem and how Apple (kudos to them! Still the best customer service around!) solved it. I updated to Snow Leopard and, suddenly, whenever I tried to use the internet, my computer acted like I was playing Russian Roulette. The airport was working fine, and the diagnostics said as much. My computer did, too, showing me a powerful, full-bar, airport signal. But when I used Safari I often got: "Cannot connect to the server." I'd see the pages on the grid of pages, but when I clicked on one of them, I might get the page, or not. If I clicked on something else on the page (like say, replying to a topic on this forum), it might go to that link or not. Sometimes mail would come in, sometimes I'd get the exclamation mark telling me "NO!" Dashboard widgets that rely on an internet connection might work...or not. Nothing internet related was reliable.
I could hit and hit and hit the reload button on Safari, and get nothing. Then I'd hit it again, and the link would appear. Pictures wouldn't show up, and pages often looked wrong. Re-load and maybe I'd be back to "cannot connect" or it would all come in fine. Very frustrating.
Oh, and my computer was running very hot! Much, much, much hotter than usual. Alarmingly so.
I tried all solutions recommended here. None worked or, rather, they might work for a while, then fail. Re-starting the computer seemed to make things worse. Finally I called Apple. The first representative tried her best, but couldn't solve it. The second spent a long time talking me through all kinds of fixes--dumping caches, special re-boots, re-starting the modem. Still the problem persisted. Finally, I was passed onto the third representative who had me send a profile of my computer to Apple.
"Did you use migration assistant when you first got this computer?" he asked.
    "Yes, I did."
"Go to library>contextual items>..." he went on and led me to a thing called "Openbase." Which I then trashed. What is Openbase? Well, it's part of a program I happen to like and use called Soho Notes from Chronos company. It connects me to their server which has the information I put into the notes. Unbeknownst to me, this program, the "old" version that I had (which worked with Leopard, but was fighting with Snow Leopard), was getting in the way. Even though it wasn't technically "running," its widget in the dock would shout out "dibs" on the internet, especially after a re-start, and interfere with everything else.
Once "Openbase" was in the trash, ta-da! Internet working perfectly. Brilliantly, in fact. Super-fast, super-good. Not a single glitch. And Soho notes? Seems they had an update for Snow Leopard, I just didn't think to update (nor would I have. I use the program sporadically, and even if there was a note from the company telling me to update, it might have been a while till I saw it).
In short, if you're having this sort of problem, you might want to think of programs you've got that connect you to internet data bases. Maybe they need updating (if there is a Snow Leopard update for them?)? Or they're getting in the way somehow? Leopard was and was not the problem here. It caused the problem by getting tangled up with this program, but it didn't have a bug. It and the old program just couldn't play nice together.
Hope this helps those of you still looking for answers to find one. If not, by all means, call Apple. They were great. Oh, and my computer is running nice and cool again

Apple hierarchy system does make sense in that the majority of problems people have are often simple ones with common solutions. Like, "did you turn it on?" or "Is the box check marked?" So you start with the tech who might say, "Is the printer plugged in?" (duh! problem solved!), before you ever reach the guy who'll instruct you to "open the activity monitor and type this in..."
The only frustration with it is that you kinda have to start with the low-rung person, and if you've already tried all sorts of wise advice from this forum as I did, they might take you through it all again, as they are kinda required to make sure all the obvious, easy fixes have been tried. I was actually surprised that all the suggestions of the low-rung person were different than the ones I'd tried, though still simple and low-rung (we pretty much stayed in the preferences "network box"). I must say that rung two on the ladder was a very savvy techie. She had all sorts of tricks, but as you can see, someone really had to take a look at what was on the computer to fix this particular problem. So that's how I ended up on rung three.
I did ask the second person just before she passed me onto her supervisor if there was any chance that I might get to Steve Jobs if this went on long enough. She said that was unlikely, but not impossible

  • Very Strange Internet Problems

I own a MacBook Pro 15.4 Inch that I purchased about a year and a half ago. I recently upgraded to Leopard and have all the latest updates. I am from the US, and when I am home my internet works fine. However, I am on travel to Seoul, South Korea right now and am having a very strange internet problem.
As far as I can tell, the URLs that I type in to my browser are, sparodially, not translated correctly into the webpages that they are supposed to represent. This problem is probably effective 75% of the time, and the rest of the time my internet works roughly correctly. For instance, when I enter http://www.google.com, instead of being taken to the Google homepage, I am taking to the homepage of Jammin Beats DJ Service, an obscure website about a company in northern Pennsylvania. The actual URL of this website is http://www.jamminbeats.com, but when my internet is malfunctioning, 'jamminbeats' is for all intensive purposes replaced by 'google' (that is, it applies not only to the main page, but to sub pages, so "http://www.google.com/weddings" takes you to "http://www.jamminbeats.com/weddings" and etc). For most other webpages, one of two things happens. Either I am taken to the correct page but it is displayed without any images or frames (just the html text and links), or I am taken to a blank page with the header "Under Construction", which I assume is the default for a page that doesn't exist. This is why it seems as though the URLs are simply being interpretted erroneously.
This problem occurs when connecting both to the wireless and the wired internet at my hotel, and it occurs on both Safari and Firefox, so it is not a connection-specific or browser-specific problem. It may be a problem with the hotel's internet, and as of yet I have not had a chance to test the computer at another location. However, a colleague using an IBM computer has had no problems, and I am currently on a Samsung machine in the business center of the hotel and it is working correctly as well. I have searched extensively online for a similar problem but have come up empty handed, and more than anything, I am confused about what might be causing this problem. The strangest thing is that a fraction of the time, the internet functions normally, but it is usually roughly 15 minutes out of every hour, and eventually I am inevitably taken back to Jammin Beats.
I am a computer science graduate but I still have no idea what would cause this problem. At first I thought it might be a hacker, but if it is, he or she has been at it consistently for 3 days now, and only seems to be targeting my computer. Any ideas or solutions would be greatly appreciated, as I have been forced to resort to the hotel's business center for checking email, doing work, etc. Thanks in advance.

I did consider that, as I was in Beijing last week and there are a number of censored sites. However, in Korea I have had problems with very basic sites like facebook, wall street journal, google, yahoo, Korean google, my hotel's webpage, etc. Further, I have successfully gotten all of these sites to load seemingly at random, and can access them without problems on other computers. The only disconnect seems to be between my MBP and the internet, not between Korean internet and the web. I have toyed around with the network settings, and although sometimes after switching from "Automatic" to a fixed connection I get some sites to work, it usually only lasts a short time and eventually the same sites stop working. I reset my cache regularly to make sure I'm not getting sent to cached sites, but this also doesn't help. Further, my Apple Mail, Skype and AIM accounts jump between being connected and disconnected randomly as well. Again, this is isolated to my own computer, which is why I'm so confused.

  • Adobe Captivate 8 projects published to HTML 5 shows major loading problems and stops

Adobe Captivate 8 projects published to HTML 5 cause major loading problems in most browsers(IE 11, Chrome v. 35.0, Firefox v. 31). Loading… (screen)
The view stops after a while and only the Loading… (icon) can be seen on the page.
Is this a known problem with Captivate projects published to html5 and is there a way to fix it? What is wrong?
Test the html5 version of this project at: http://kurs.dokker.no/captivate/
and see for yourself what happends.

I changed the Preferences/Project/Start and End  Preloader % to 25 and published the projects again. The course: http://kurs.dokker.no/captivate/elev/
stopped like before on one of the first slides, loading… screen like before in IE11.
In Chrome v. 37.0 the course worked badly, would not run, sound missing and buttons not working.
In Firefox 31.0 the course worked to a degree even if the program was advising to use another browser for this content.
In Opera 23.0 sound was missing and else working as bad as IE.
All this testes is done on a PC using Windows 8 connected på internet via ethernet, download speed: 66.57.
I would like to use the HTML5-format since it has a cleaner view than swf-files that appear to be jagged, but there is a lot missing before Adobe Captivates html5 publish is where it needs to be. Her are the complete html5 course and here are the swf based course for comparison.

  • Major system problems, hanging up at startup.

I'm developing some major sytem problems with my G4 Mac. It all seemed to start with a jumping cursor and then a dying mouse. I could not get the Mac to startup with several trys. It wouldn't even start up off of my external drive. I would get the first four icons in the upper right hand corner of the screen and the it would hang. I tried all of the usual fixes- permissions, disk utiliy, Disk Warrior, zapping pram. I finally started unplugging external items and getting back to original Mac- switching the firewire port in the back of my Lacie external drive helped for awhile, but now I'm getting the jumping cursor again and fearing I'll get a hangup again. Any ideas on how I can solve this problem? If not, can you point me somewhere for instructions on how to reinstall the system software? I have already installed a clean system on my external drive. Once I reinstall all of my apps there, and get it running properly, can I move all of that to my internal HD somehow? My original system disks for this computer is Jaguar 10.2 if that helps.
    Thanks for your help,
    Dick Skover

    Dick,
    Some observations and notes.
Have you tried using a different mouse, or changing
the port it is plugged into?
Yes, I tried and am using a inexpensive Logitech optical mouse. The one that came with the computer seemed to get very eratic and then not work at all. I did try plugging into different ports and that didn't make a difference.
How did you upgrade from Jaguar 10.2.x to
    Panther 10.3.9?
I upgraded the simplest way, I guess. I had read about more complex ways to do it at the time Panther came out, but also heard you could do a simple upgrade. I don't remember the exact steps I used. Boy, this is way more complex than my original Mac in 1984.
What size is your Hard Drive, and how much space is
available? I should say I have quite a few applications.
My HD is 75 Gig with 17 Gig available.
Is your installed RAM original or added?
Yes, it came installed when I purchased it: 1.5 Gig
In one post you wrote "My original system disks
for this computer is Jaguar 10.2..."
I heard something back when Panther came out that the fact I started with 10.2, didn't allow me to do certain things like archive and backup.
But in another, you wrote "Yes, my original
Panther disk and then updated everything via
    Internet."
    Please clarify.
When I decided to install a clean system on my external HD I just used my Panther 10.3 disk- I didn't go all the way back to 10.2
"Yes, Disk Warrior found some problems, I don't
    know exactly what they were."
Were the errors corrected? Have you rerun Disk
Warrior, to see if they are indeed repaired?
Actually I ran DW today again on the internal HD and it came up with a couple of problems that it said it repaired. Should I keep running it until it doesn't indicate any problems?
A couple other things you can check.
Open System Preferences > Accounts > Your Account >
    Startup Items.
Is there any item in there that you are not familiar
with, or did not put there yourself?
Yes I did try that- I had a repair person come in to help me. He did point that out and we deleted items that didn't need to be there. What he suggested did help for a week, but the problem came back. I called him again, but he said the only thing left to do was re-install.
From the Utilities folder, start Activity
    Monitor.
    Select Active Processes.
Watch for whatever process is hogging %CPU.
Yes he ran activity monitor also- there didn't seem to be programs hogging the processor although we deleted those that look familiar.
I also have a question about the title screems that pop up on start up. In the past I used to have several things being checked as it went through the process, now I get welcome to Macintosh and that's it. I seem to remember indications that Macaroni was running, but no longer see any of that. I do have Macjanitor also and thought that one of those automatically runs at startup?
I will run pseudo daily, weekly and monthly tasks now. Is this something that Macjanitor does, or should I run the maintenance scripts periodicaly?

After Int Install OS10.5.8 on PowerPC G4 having major system problems (created user to verify) CS4 apps go non responsive

Ok no difference, I don't get any drive errors that seem significant or numerous, sometimes I don't get any at all, the disk always verifies and I haven't had to run a repair on it yet. I've gotton one or two drive errors, I'll save them next time I run either DU or DW.... however with permissions, there are a lot and they all fix (except: see below: Last 3: ACL errors are always there) but as I keep having to do force quits and system re boots they keep coming back; posted them below IDK if this will help you to help me, LOL... but figured it couldn't hurt, the ones below are re-occuring I know i've seen them b4. . .  Don't know if this makes a difference but on initial install I had several font conflicts w/system fonts, I renamed suitcases and that error message hasn't come back . . . but do you think this could be a font issue . . . I have like 12,000 fonts of which a couple hundred are ususally always active . . . IDK it doesn't make sense to me it would be, but you never know... just a shot in the dark
I also saved my last PS crash report and it was like 100 Pages long, I've never seen one that long, I make a pdf of it and post link to my idisk, if its something that you can interpet.

  • All Kinds Of Internet Problems - PLEASE HELP!

So I've been having all kinds of internet problems in my house. I'm almost positive part of it is router related but I just (somewhat scientifically) proved it's also related to my mini. I used speedtest.net to test both my brand new mac mini and my 2006 macbook pro running Leopard 10.5.1 (fresh install). Here's the specs and speed test results:
    _*2006 Macbook Pro*_
Intel Core Duo 2.0GHz, 2GB RAM
    OSX 10.5.1
    *Average Results:*
    Download - 4.72 Mb/s
    Upload - 0.84 Mb/s
    Ping - 24-38ms (range)
    _*2009 Mac Mini*_
    Intel Core 2 Duo 2.53GHz, 4GB RAM
    OSX 10.6.2
    Results:
    Download - 0.78Mb/s
    Upload - 0.97Mb/s
    Ping - 15ms
    *AFTER PRAM RESET:*
    DL - 2.85Mb/s
    UL - 0.98 Mb/s
    Ping 22ms
*these were the BEST results and far above the average I got
    Router:
    Netgear WGR614v9 running latest firmware
WEP 128bit security B/G combined broadcast
We were running WPA2 security but when I switched to WEP everyone in the house noticed a speed increase.
The tests were run within a span of 10 minutes and both computers were about 2 feet away from each other.
Can someone please explain to me why my nearly 4 year old MBP with an outdated OSX is spanking my brand new mini?

I apologize ahead of time as I am not sure I can answer your question, but I would like to ask you a question if I could...
Are you using your mini with Ethernet cable or Wireless. Not that there's a real difference in your case but sometimes if you're running with a Wired Ethernet cable on a unit that also has wireless, it helps to turn off the wireless.
And on the other hand if you are not running with Ethernet cable on the mini, you might think about trying that.

  • Weird internet problem / ssl connection error, site loads in safari not in firefox or other way around

I really can't figure out this problem. Search the internet tried all kinds of things, nothing help so far.
I have a Macbook Pro (Lion originally installed) running on Mavericks (all latest updates). SSD installed and the DVD tray is replaced by the original HDD.
The laptop wasn't running very smooth anymore so decided to give it a fresh Mavericks install (even though I know it's not really necessary for mac, it helped, everything is much faster except a weird internet problem came up).
After freshly installing Mavericks I couldn't get into my google account anymore, just wouldn't load. Tried Safari (use this normally) and Firefox and Chrome, this last was gave a SSL connection error, both Safari and FF said the website couldn't be loaded because the server didn't respond. For Gmail I use Mailplane which is just stuck on a white page. I tried repairing the keychain, repaired disk and disk permissions, cleaned browsers, turned off firewall and antivirus (Shopos) started in safe mode, checked time settings which were all good. Nothing of this helped. I even ended up creating a usb bootdisk for Mavericks, formatted the disk and reinstalled from the start just Mavericks and nothing else, started Safari, still the same problem. As even this didn't help I figured it's not worth reinstalling all software so put back my backup.
Now I ended up somehow only being able to use Gmail normally in Firefox, Chrome still gives SSL error and Safari can load the inbox, but I can't open any messages. I get the error there is a problem with the connection. If I try in Basic HTML mode it surprisingly does work.
You would say, just use Firefox, finished...but the thing is that sometimes random websites won't load in Firefox, when I load the same site in Safari it works perfectly.
O yes, I also tried the connect to my iPhone and use the Cellular data network, then it's no problem using Gmail in Safari normally. You would say it's a router problem, but I have another Macbook Pro (just one model later running Mountain Lion) this one works perfectly with every browser. Also my iPhone does everyting logged into the WiFi network.
You can understand I really have no clue what's going on here, I don't see any logic. I can only think of a hardware problem in my Macbook, but don't see how that could cause these problems.
I hope someone is ably to help me ?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Internet problems on my macbook pro and ipod touch with camera.

    Hi,
For the last week or so I have been experiencing internet problems with my macbook and iPod touch with camera. I'll be online and clicking different news articles and suddenly the address bar will start to open a link but will not complete it. So what I do is go up to the signal bar and click turn off airport then turn it back on and that will temporarily solve the problem. Same solution on my iPod, I turn off the wifi and turn it back on. It is very frustrating for both devices. I will include as much info as possible. I have a NetGear RangeMax wireless router model WPN824v3. I was wondering if changing the wireless settings on that would solve my problem. I have the channel on 9. Mode on b and g. Security option on WPA-PSK [TKIP] with password. I would be happy for any help with this issue. Also I hope I'm following correct posting protocol. I haven't been on this forum in a while.

    Sig,
Thanks for the advice. I finally tried a solution after doing nothing. LoL. What I did do was change the channel the router was on from 9 to 7. I think I've done something like this in the past when I had slow internet and that worked out well too. I thought that would help and so far so good. Not an interruption so far but we shall see. To the guy or girl who expressed that they had the same problem as me I would try changing the channel of your router like I did. I will monitor the situation and see if it totally solved my problem or not and keep this thread updated. Thanks people

  • Leopard/Dreamweaver/Flash Problems

Although Dreamweaver and Flash will both start, i cant get them to display any of my files or any new files- is this another Leopard/CS3 compatibility problem? Anybody have a solution? I can run Photoshop CS3 no problem.

    Hi Murphy101;
I have Dreamweaver and Flash on my Macs and have no problems with opening my files in Leopard. Have you repaired permissions?

  • Internet Problems - poor connectivity

I have a Lenovo X100e laptop with Windows 7 Professional. It's been a great computer, but when I go on the internet, it behaves as if the connection is slow or wonky, even if the connection is fast. This is especially true of video streaming, which stutters so much, it's virtually impossible to watch Netflix or YouTube or any other video streaming service. This is otherwise a great computer so I really want to fix this, rather than buy another computer.
I have used this laptop on my home network with both wifi and direct connection with the same behavior. I have diagnosed my network speed and its good, usually around 20Mps, plus I've tried this laptop in public places like Whole Foods and it behaves the same: wonky connection. I have an old Dell Latitude that works and it runs the internet great on the same network, and I've used my phone on my home wifi and it works great, so it's clearly the Lenovo.
The network adapters are 11b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapter II and Realtek PVIe GBE Family Controller. I checked the drivers for both (using Device Manager), and they are both current. I used the "diagnose problems" function and found nothing. I googled for problems with them and didn't find much.
There is also a Qualcom Gobi 2000 listed (Wireless WAN Driver for Windows 7) under Other Devices and it says "There is no driver selected for the device information set or element." I tried updating the driver, but got an error saying "Windows could not find driver software for your device." I have no clue if this is relevant.
Also, the laptop plays video with no issues if it's a file on the local drive, like mp4, so I don't think video is the problem per se. It's the general communication with a network. Let me repeat that I don't think this is a wifi issue because I get the same behavior even if I plug a network cable in directly to my router.
Also, I have tried multiple updated browsers including Chrome, Firefox, and IE. Plus, I have run multiple virus scans and nothing is found.
I rviewed the other internet problem posts on this forum, but they don't seem to be the same problem I am having. I can get on the internet, it's just wonky. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Regarding Gobi 2000:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS001302 - drivers;
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS003751 - boot code utility driver needs.
Install them yourself. Four devices should appear in Device Manager.
Further steps depend of the network carrier you work with. If the carrier is Verizon or AT&T you should install and launch Mobile Broadband Activation softwate:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS001619
If you work with another carrier there is a chance you'll need additional help. Let us know.
