Leopard may not work with Avid Media Composer.

I am about to purchase a new iMac for the purpose of using Avid Media Composer for editing as opposed to Final Cut Pro.
Unfortunately, Avid is not providing any tech support for those who use the new Leopard operating system on their Macs, they are only providing support who still use Tiger 10.4.10. To make matters more complicated, Apple already has Leopard installed on the computers they're selling, whether they're new or refurbished.
Is there any way to get Tiger installed on the computers that already have Leopard installed? Also, are there any Avid users who have had no problem installing them on their Leopard computers?

You can probably install Tiger on a Mac Pro if you buy it today and can locate the media, but it won't be supported.
You're in a bit of a pinch... if you'd asked this question a month ago I'd have told you to buy IMMEDIATELY but it wasn't exactly a secret that Leopard was on the way
Avid will eventually support Leopard but they'll take their time. They might also try to push a Windows box on you.

Error message with Avid Media Composer 6

I have installed a free trial of Avid Media Composer 6. I had it on my computer and it was working fine, but I thought there was an issue so I unistalled it, and then reinstalled it. Now I am getting an error message whenever I attempt to open a project. It reads..."Segmentation fault" in thread "MainThread", at address 0x0 ... and then the Avid Media Composer shuts down. I have read that it is necessary to unistall any existing software first which is exactly what I did. Im using lion on a 2 ghz i7 macbook pro.

Zen touch, crashing with Windows XP professional, not working with Windows media pla

i will start with an apology if someone has posted this up before i have just had a quick look and could not see any think about this.
if i turn my computer on with out running any other programs and connect the zen touch the computer automatically turn on the zen touch media player program. this work's fine as long as no other programs are running.
i have tried to work the zen touch with Windows media player but this dose not work and the computer crashes every time.
i have window xp professional and have all up dates from Windows. my computer is very new and has more then enough memory and ram.
please can you help. i am not to happy with the zen touch computer program and would like to know how to fix this problem.

I wonder if there are problems here associated with the use of the zen touch on SP2 machines. Interestingly I cannot transfer music from my PC to my Zen 20gb on a SP2 machine but I can do so on my sisters machine which has got SP. Obviously having the lastest firmware is a good idea though but I believe there are issues associated with SP2 and as you say you have all the latest updates to windows perhaps the problem lies there. Sorry if this doesn't help you at all

Trial will not open and says it may not work with my Mac OS? Please help

When I try to open Dreamweaver it says "Check with the developer to make sure Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application.
However my computer says it is up to date and I cannot uninstall Dreamweaver to reinstall it. Also I have used Photoshop and Illustrator on my computer and had no issues.
Has anyone else had this problem and resolved it?

Mac OS X v10.5.4 Leopard retail not working with 2 GHz Power G5

Hi I recently purchased Mac OS X v10.5.4 Leopard retail for my G5 and wouldn't work. I reinstalled the old operating platform and then reinstalled the Leopard. It installed almost the same as before. Several programs - like itunes- don't work. The computer won't go to sleep so i have to shut it down. And several commands cause the computer to make this rapid humming sound.
I installed the Mac OSX disc and it doesn't work. My mac is making repetitive humming noises now and most of the programs won't work including itunes. When I click on it, it just tells me itunes is not available. I tried the install over again and nothing works.

You must also add RAM memory to your Mac for smooth performance. 512MB RAM memory is a joke. Please add at least 512MB of RAM or you will have a very unstable machine. 2GB of RAM is even better and it will really breathe in some fresh air into that old horse.
I have 3GB of RAM and it's a rocket and super stable. Putting in a better graphics card also does no harm and it will noticeably speed up that machine. OS 10.5 Leopard is tough on G4 and G5 based computers. Leopard demands a lot of processing and graphics power from the computer because it is very advanced and chock-full of new features.

The console starts and all is well with the world.
This is obviously not how one would want to start a console by downloading the .jnlp file and running it on the command line so I am now going to remove the /home/gordon/.icedtea/cache/http/* and see what happens.
First, let me say that nothing happened. It did not work. I did confirm that it creates the directory structure again /home/gordon/.icedtea/cache/http/192.168.4.16/ovm/rasproxy/ but there is only one file in the directory.

AverMedia HD PCIe - Not working with FMLE 3.1 or 3.2 - Freezes!!

Hi,
Recently bought AverMedid HD H272 PCIe Hybrid HDMI capture card - it does not work with Flash Media Encoder 3.1 or 3.2 - It just freezes the FME!
Had a look around on the net and it seems it works fine with FME 2.5 - works perfectly in fact!
What could be the problem? FMLE 3.1 or 3.2 JUST FREEZE! why? I have to restart to the computer and then it works again?

The only way to get the discounted price is if you already own either CS3 or CS4 or CS5 or CS6.
A Single App subscription does not qualify.
Avid Media Composer is not an Adobe product. Not sure why it's relevant to mention it here.

HT2240 I am trying to export my Avid Media Composer trailer to Quick Time. It is not letting me do so. I have a PC with Windows 7 Pro on it. I am needing to turn the trailer into a QT movie so that my instructor can grade it.

I could use some help is trying to convert my Avid Media Composer Trailer into a QT movie. Everytime I try I get a error message and Avid stops working and the trailer is never exported to QT.

M-Audio MIDISPORT UNO USB Not Working With Snow Leopard

My Snow Leopard installation worked fine except until I plugged in my MacBook to my Casio Privia with the M=Audio MIDISPORT UNO USB cable to run GarageBand. I'm getting a MIDI error which states it can't work with the latest operating system. It doesn't surprise me though for all the software and hardware driver updates that have to catch up to such a new OSX 10.6. I went to the M-Audio site to download the latest driver, but the drivers only were compatible with OSX10.5.8.

I ran into a similar problem. I discovered one thing which may help you out though. It works OK with my Yamaha P200 keyboard but it does not work with my Yamaha NP30 keyboard. I looked at the MIDI stream and the only difference seems to be that the NP30 sends a continuous stream of MIDI clock, whereas the P200 does not. My theory is that this clock stream is somehow confusing the driver. I can't seem to disable the MIDI clock on my NP30 but if your Privia has the ability to disable MIDI clock, then it may be worth a try as it will probably fix the problem until they come out with the proper drivers.

Robin, I have the 4S too. Here's wha I've been doing. Well, I am downloading wma books, but it is super time consuming and annoying. First, shut off genius in your preferences in iTunes. Also change to spoken podcast for speed. Then, you start to transfer from Overdrive. It will create a playlist with your book title. Open up books though because you need to keep an eye on it. It may download like three parts and then you may have a grey one. When you get the grey, cancel the transfer, delete the greyed part, exit iTunes, re-enter iTunes, and then try to download the remaining book parts. I usually have to re-enter iTunes three or four different times during a book. When your book is downloaded, all black and none grey, open up the playlist folder and double check that all parts made it in there. If not, carry them from the books folder to the playlist and then move it into numerical order.
Re non bookmarking problem. I now have a new habit of checking what part I am on before i shut off my phone or switch to another book. It does save where you were, it just doesn't show you. For instance, if I start part three and then play music, and then go back to the book playlist, it will appear as if we are back to the beginning, but if I go to part three, it will start up from where I was. So, just start checking and then it is easy. I am flabbergasted that no other proper solution has been offered by Overdrive. This has been a problem since October. I also wish they would acknowledge the problem on their website as well as post what version number of update they have. I have 3.2.1.0 and think that's current. Does anyone have newer than this. An easy, quick workaround is to plug external speakers into your laptop and take it with you in the car. A bit unwieldy, but I can't commute without books.

help!....i have macbook with lion 10.5.8 op because protools does not work with snow leopard, now i bought "traktor" which does not work with old op sys, can´t find a suitable update anywhere, what to do ? pete

According to Roaring Apps, there is a version of Protools compatible with Lion. But you may need Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to buy either Lion or ML on MAS. It looks like you need to get up-to-date with your OS and the apps too.

I just spent an hour composing a reply in a thread ("Firefox will not work with paypal"), only to see "You don't have permission" at Submit - total loss!

I was logged in to reply in the thread "Firefox will not work with paypal". I spent the better part of an hour carefully composing that reply, testing cases, providing links, etc... [Hint: Firefox, unlike other browsers, has a problem with scripts from server paypalobjects.com.] Because I had taken so long to compose the reply, it seemed like a good idea to check it via the Preview button, but I got a message that that function was not available. Of course I decided to submit it anyway, but when I hit "Submit" I got a message "You don't have permission ..." - at which point I was (stupidly) on a different page with that message, and everything I had composed was gone!

It might be too late for this, but it's what I use when this happens. Prepare for deep nerdom:
* Open the web console below the error page by pressing Ctrl+Shift+k
* Right-click the blank area and turn on logging of the request and response bodies
* Resubmit the request by clicking the reload button
* Click the new URL that appears to open the viewer showing the headers and bodies
There you may be able to copy out the content of your post from the Request Body. You can use a word processor or text editor to find/replace the + characters back to spaces.

Leopard may not work with Avid Media Composer.
