Leopard: Network WiFi Printer Not Visible

I just got a new MacBook to replace my dying PowerBook G4. Both laptops are connected via wireless network to my old Cube desktop, where my HP Deskjet 3740 is connected via USB cable. All three computers can see each other's hard drive, but the new MacBook cannot find the printer. I can't add it, and it doesn't automatically see it on the network when I tell it to look in The-Cube.local. (The Cube has an old version of OS X because the hard drive is maxed and it can't handle the new stuff. However, that never prevented the PowerBook G4 from printing.) Help!
The Cube: Mac OS X 10.3.9 - prints fine
MacBook: Mac OS X 10.5.1 - no printing
PowerBook G4: Mac OS X 10.4.11 - prints fine

Hi bjp123-
Is the printer OSX 10.5.1 compatible?
Have you checked HP's website for a possible updated driver?

  • Wifi printer not visible from wireless devices after becoming a wired printer

Lexmark S515 printer: Wireless worked fine for about a year, now it doesn't stay connected to my EA-4500 router (I suspect the printer wifi radio is flaking out).
So I hooked it up via ethernet cable to my EA4500 router.
Now, I can only access ther printer (static IP: 192.168.1.101) from other wired devices on the EA-4500; can't access it from  wirelessly connected devices.
Anyone know what I should change to get it to be visible from wired and wireless devices on my home network?

Try to check what's the IP Addresses of your wireless devices. Powercycle your whole network - unplug for 10 seconds and plug them back again. Start with the modem > router > printer > computers/wireless devices. You can also try connecting your printer directly to your wireless laptop and check if it can detect the printer.

  • Wifi printer not connected

MB Pro with Lion 10.7.5 working with Epson Stylus SX535WD was fine with wifi printing and suddenly, from one print job to the next, announces "The printer is not connected".  Works fine from my other MBP running the same software.  I have a feeling there is some file I could trash that would solve the problem but I don't know which one.

I saw a suggestion right after I posted this that said just delete the printer in preferences and then add it again.  One thing I found out is that I had it in there twice, which may not have helped anything.  Anyway, I deleted both of them then added it in again and without doing anything else that solved the problem.  Thanks for replying.

  • HP 8600 Plus - Printer is on wifi but not visible/usable for any computers on the same network

    Hello,
I am on windows 7 x64 and I have an HP 8600 Plus. This printer has been working fine since we bought it but suddently it does not show up on the network. It started when my wife would try to print and the HP software says it cant connect to the printer. I tried resetting everything, including the router. I restored factory settings on the printer as well, still no luck.
I am able to connect the printer to wifi. The indicator shows that it is connected and ready. It has no errors there. It has an IP address and all seems well. I have several other computers on the same wifi network and none of them can SEE the printer. It does not show up in network devices and I am not able to install it using the HP wizard software (it gets stuck looking for the printer, then asks for a manual IP address and it still fails)
Please help, it worked fine for a few months and suddenly it is 100% not working!

Anyone out there ever seen anything like this before? I searched the forums pretty heavily and I see similar issues but none quite like mine.
I have also tried the Print and Scan Doctor. Again, since the software cant find the printer on the network it won't connect and won't resolve any problems. It tells me to make sure the printer has a wifi connection and that the blue light is on and the indicator is showing it is connected, all of which are true.

  • Shared printer not visible on network

I have an Epson WF-3520 and i originally tried connecting it directly to the internet but everytime it went to sleep the computer would no longer be able to connect to the printer and i would have to turn off the printer delete it from the computer and re-add the printer everytime i wanted to print! I gave up on that and connected it to my iMac via USB and then turned on printer sharing on the iMac. When i try to connect to the printer from my Macbook Pro it is not listed anywhere. Does anyone have a solution to either of these problems? Preferably the second as even Epson didnt know what was wrong with the first issue...
    Thanks,
    James

Besides turning on Printer Sharing, you also have to check the box marked Share this printer on the network in the Print & Scan preference pane. If you did that, disable the built-in firewall and also all third-party firewall or security software that you may have installed.

  • No Wireless networks found (WIFI adapter not visible)

From 2-3 days , my laptop's wifi adapter was disabled automatically.
The wireless network doesn't showing WIFI option.
Therefore I am not able to connect to any WIFI network.
    Please help

    Hi @21_95,
    Thank you for your inquiry.
I grasp that your wireless was automatically disabled and you are unable to enable it.
If you check Device Manager is there any errors on it?
You can check this setting also while you are in Device Manager.
Click on the network adapters to expand the list.
Right click on the wireless adapter and choose properties.
Click on the power management tab.
If allow the computer to turn off this device to save power is checked please remove it .
Repeat that process for any additional network adapters.
Here is  link to HP PCs - Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet (Windows 8) that may also help.
As this is a recent occurrence you could test for a hardware failure of the card.
HP Notebook PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 8)
You could also try a HP PCs - Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8) which will reinstall your Windows but should not affect your files.  I do suggest that you do a backup of your files just to be on the safe side.
    Good Luck!

  • Brother network printer not "visible"

I just replaced an old iMac with a new one. I have a Brother 5250DN on an ethernet, seen by the prior iMac. The new iMac can't find the printer at all. The printer is on, the driver is part of the OS, but I can't bring it up in the printer setup. Help, please!

    Try Reset Printing System.

Also, look at the Brother manual for how to set up an IP printer (like LPR).

  • Wifi Printer Not Found

I have a MacBook and I bought a new Epson Artisan 730 printer. I have set up the wifi correctly because I can print from my iPhone and iPad, but my Mac does not see it. When I open Print and Scan and try to add the printer it does not show up. Nearby Printers is also not an option as it is grey and unclickable. I am at a loss on what to do next. I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

I had exactly the same "scanner not connected" problem when up upgraded to OS X Leopard. However I've just downloaded the latest 10.4 driver from the HP web site
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-53297-1 &lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=420428&os=219&lang=en
And I seem to have somehow managed to get everything working once I re-installed their latest driver and followed the set-up process (having deleted the previous printers first). After opening "Print & Fax" when prompted to click "open print utility" (as this does not work), I then added the HP2710 printer by clicking the plus sign and choosing the "Default" tab in the add printer window, I selected the add printer button again (plus sign) and chose the "more printers" tab along the top of the add printer window and then chose HPAiO Fax and this added the fax to my print queue.
Then when I went back to the HP set-up process and let it finish, everything, included my scanner miraculously seemed to work...hallelujah!
Hope this help someone, as it's the first ever time I've been able to offer some assistance in discussions, rather than bugging everyone with all my problems!
    Big Love

    Hello,
I have three laptops, all of which are connected independently and wirelessly to my BT home hub 3. Two of them were already made part of a home wireless network when I was with my last internet provider, but I am now struggling to make the the third laptop part of my network. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance.
Can you connect your laptop to the wireless network from the home hub?

  • Canon ip5200r wifi printing not working

I have an old ip5200r canon printer.
It's been a pain over the years - each time i update my operating system i have had to update the drivers and fiddle around to get it to connect to my mac via wifi. USB printing is fine and always works.
With 10.10 however I am totally stumped. I have managed to connect the printer to the network, and the printers and scanners system preferences can see the printer and it tells me it is installed, but I am unable to print.
My partner often uses the printer and constantly complains about walking around the house and plugging  a USB cable in. It should be so easy, I am unsure why canon make it so hard.
I was wondering if anyone could offer any possible insight or recommendation?

If you haven't done so already, try resetting the printing system.

It's quite easy to print on any printer wired to a Mac on your network with a slight configuration change in Mac OS. For details see this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12638601&#12638601

  • Wifi address not visible

On my iPhone 5C, iOS 8.1.3, the WiFi Address in Settings > General is not all visible, the last element is cut off. There are wide characters in the part that is visible, which is what pushes it off the edge of the screen. How else can I determine the WiFi address?

you could go to settings > wifi
or you could go to settings > general > accessibility to make sure zoom or larger text is off which may be causing it to cutoff

  • WiFi Printer not being found on AirPort Time Capsule

Hi, I have an older HP Officejet 6500 that works fine via WiFi.  I recently bought an Airport Time Capsule for Time Machine backups and a better wireless router (version is 7.7.3).
Suddenly, my WiFi HP printer, which is connected to the Airport Wireless Router, can't be found by any of my macs, iPhones, or iPads.  I had no problem printing from any of these devices when the printer was connected to my previous wireless router.
I've searched and searched this evening for help and can't find any solutions.  I've tried resetting, checking for firmware upgrades, unplugging the printer and router.  No luck so far.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I suggest deleting your existing printer from System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, and adding it again. Better yet is to "reset the printing system" as described here: Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
After you do that you will need to add the printer again according to the instructions here:
OS X Yosemite: Add or remove a printer
