Leopard: Photo Booth User Effects Page (Page 4) Missing/Black

I dropped a movie on page 4 to use as a background and Photo Booth crashed. When I restarted the 4th page of effects is just a single black square. I cant add anything to it. If I log into another user account on the same machine the 4th page is correct. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Only just got round to installing Leopard, but I now have an answer for you:
Right-click on PhotoBooth in your Applications folder, and select Show Package Contents
Open the Contents folder, then open Resources
Find the EffectsOrdering.plist file, and open it in Text Edit (right click, Open With, select Other, and locate Text Edit -- you may need to change "Enable" to "All Applications")
Scroll down to the bottom of the file -- you should see a list of user backdrops; return the offending item to its default value (e.g. /user backdrop 1), save thew file, start PhotoBooth, and you should be back to normal.

  • Photo Booth new effects are not working on Lion

The new face-tracking effects for Photo Booth are not working for some reason. They just look like there's no effect for them. I've tried rebooting my iMac and I know my mac can support Lion because everything else works fine. Is ther any way i could fix this? Maybe uninstall then reinstall Photo Booth? I was really excited for this feture and im so dissapointed that it's not working

In my case, IMac OS 10.7 Lion, I can't use Photo booth which it said "Check with the developer to make sue Photo Booth works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstll the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X."
    Should I reinstall the program?

  • Photo Booth special effect problems?

Whenever I try to take a picture or video with one of the including backdrops my face is seen in little patch but not everything. There seems to be a glitch with the background effect feature.
    Has anyone else experienced this?
the other photo booth effects worked fine.

This really depends on what colours and lighting are in the room behind you. If there's something behind you that look similar to your face, hair, or clothing, then the camera won't be able to tell them apart.
Try different lighting in the room. Failing that, paint the wall! There's a reason why movie studios use a "blue screen" or "green screen" to film scenes with replaced backgrounds.

  • Isight problems in Leopard photo booth

Has anybody had problems with the background replacement effect in the new photo booth. When I replace the background and enter the shot again, my face is broken up and missing pieces. I am not sure if there is a problem with my isight or if its a software bug.

    Hello TrentonAdams
Repair time can ONLY be determined by the Apple Service Technician.
If your Mac only has a loose connection, the repair might take only minutes. If replacement parts must be ordered, it will take longer, but it is possible that you could continue to use your Mac while the parts are being obtained.
Discuss your concerns and needs honestly with your Apple Authorized Service Provider so you will experience minimum disruption for your particular circumstance.

  • Air - How to fix distorted colors in camera after using Photo Booth's effects.

In Skype, Facetime, in every app, which use camera, colors are wrong and noisy.
Choosing standart lens in Photo Booth has no effect, colors're still wrong.
I suppose that some effet was somehow maxed up with standart lens.
    How to reset camera effects?

Here's a photo taken with a cam, using standart lens in Photo Booth:

  • HT201272 My camera, photo booth and face time have gone missing

Suddenly my camera, FaceTime and photo booth have disappeared from my iPad.  Also is there a way to upgrade an operating system on my iPad.?

If you can't find them on any of your homescreens or app folders (and it's not a first-gen iPad which doesn't have those apps), and you can't find them via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first home screen to the right), then are they hidden by Settings > General > Restrictions > Camera being set 'off' ?
If not then have you tried a reset to see if you can find it after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
To update the iOS version, connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button
    Updating to iOS 5+ : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4972
A first gen iPad should update to iOS 5.1.1 (it doesn't support iOS 6) and an iPad 2 (and 3) to 6.0.1 (which are the only versions that are 'signed' by Apple) - updating an iPad 2 or 3 to you will remove the built-in YouTube app and the Maps app will change.

  • Photo booth video effects not recording after upgrade to Lion

I recently upgraded from s.leopard to Lion. Photobooth is working perfectly with the leopard until upgraded to lion, the video effects could not be used and recorded. It only appears in 1 sec when video recording.
I have done the following already according to the forums I read.
    1. the 32 bit mode is not ticked.
    2. disk utility permissions.
and still not working. Any advise? Thanks

The same Lion-problem here. Everything looks just fine until I press record. Then the effect dissappears. I bought my 28" "BigMac" in february this year, and as the problem is mentioned about a year ago, it might be a major problem since no solution is mentioned anywhere.
So, if you guys see or hear (or smell) anything in the direction of a solution, drop a note.

  • Photo Booth Backdrop Effects Not Working Properly

Special Effects and Distortion Effects work but Backdrop Effects (Clouds, Color Dots, Earthrise, Eiffel Tower, Fish, Rollercoaster, Sunset, Yosemite)
doesn't. It would ask me to step out of the frame and I do, then I get Background Detected and I step in the frame but here's the problem. The backdrop doesn't show correctly. Say I choose 'Eiffel Tower' I can't see the whole backdrop just some of it because my actual background (wall) interferes, in other words I can see both my wall and the backdrop. How can I fix this?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean

  • Applying Photo Booth effects to photos taken in another application?

Is it possible to apply the Photo Booth effects to photos that were taken outside of the Photo Booth application? For example, I have some shots in my iPhoto library that I'd love to apply one of the Photo Booth effects to. I can't see an option for doing this in the Photo Booth menus or help section.

I do not have a new iMac G5 (iSight), so I do not have Photo Booth either. However, looking at Apple's new iMac pages and the Photo Booth 1.0 Help info leads me to believe that Photo Booth is an application for making snapshots rather than for editing existing images.
Check Photo Booth > Help on your iMac. If it does not tell you about editing existing images, you likely cannot do so.
Depending upon your experience level, image editor apps like PhotoShop or PhotoShop Elements can add the effects to your existing photos. Adding effects to existing images will require some effort, but it can be done. Unless your version of iPhoto is one of the very early ones, you can even set your iPhoto > General preferences to open your existing iPhoto images in your image editor app for easy access and editing from within iPhoto.
Because Photo Booth is only available with the iMac G5 (iSight) computer, you may find more help from Photo Booth users in iMac Discussions.

  • Photo Booth files automatically appearing in iPhoto also missing??

The missing effects in Photo Booth have been well documented elsewhere (ie R2D2 hologram) but the ability for Photo Booth files to automatically appear in iPhoto also seems to be missing?! Or am I just being stupid?
I googled it, and found a link that said
“In Leopard, Photo Booth files automatically appear in your iPhoto library”
but the page it took me to no longer existed.
Another incredibly useful function that was pulled before it shipped??
    Can anyone shed any light?

Anyone have any ideas about this? Do you think it will show up in 10.5.2?

  • ISight not showing when Photo Booth is open? Help :S?

Hey guys, when I open Photo Booth, my iSight doesn't even respond to it, and doesn't even turn on. There is no green light or anything. It works when I use iChat or any other application that uses the iSight but not photo booth. I have done all the trouble shooting and reseting but still nothing. In the system profiler it shows that my iSight is recognized and that it is there and working, but why not photo booth? It has worked before too.
    Help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot in advance
    D2LMD

    You're welcome, D2LMD
I have tried all of the things you just listed and still no go...
Because your iSight works in every user account you try with every application (except Photo Booth), the problem is definitely in your software. Having reinstalled the application itself, the software problem must lie in some of the system or QuickTime ancillary files that Photo Booth uses.
To remedy this problem, I can offer three choices for your consideration:
    (1) Backup your important files and then reinstall all of your Mac software using the "reinstall" or "restore" disk that came with your Mac. After that is done, repair permissions and then use your Mac's Software Update... to be sure you are using the latest version of your Apple software. Finish with another permission repair after the updates are done, and then test to see if Photo Booth is working.
    (2) Ignore your non-working Photo Booth. Instead, use some other app to capture images:
    • If you do not need Photo Booth's "effects", some alternative apps that can
capture snapshots and movie/video clips are included in this list.
    • Apps that have with "effects" similar to those in Photo Booth include
Funny Photographer, Freak Show, and WebcamTweaker.
    (3) If nothing else works for you, follow Apple's ultimate suggestion from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 and contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

  • Help with Photo booth

IS there a way that I can turn off the flash that happens when i take pictures with photo booth?
I was also wondering if the camera records video?
    Thank you!

    Hello Sarah CMac
To disable Photo Booth flash, hold shift while you click.
BTW, holding option disables the seconds countdown. You can use both at once if desired.
Photo Booth 2 that comes with Leopard adds video recording with "effects" and sound. If you do not want to upgrade to Leopard, you can use WebcamTweaker for "effects" videos or any of the apps that can record video or movie clips from this list of Some Applications You Can Use With iSight for video without Photo Booth's "effects."

  • Photo Booth ignores external iSight

    Hello people
Ever since my upgrade to Leopard, Photo Booth no longer uses my external firewire iSight camera.
Previously, Photo Booth would use the external iSight camera, when the built-in was unavailable because the notebook lid was closed. Now it just says the camera is off.
Both iMovie and iChat AV will happily use the external iSight camera. If I try to use a Video Input in a Quartz Composition, the external iSight is ignored just as it is in Photo Booth.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Best regards,
    Anders Borum

    two things to try:
    (1) With Photo Booth (v2) running, unplug your external iSight, wait about 5 seconds, and reconnect.
    (2) If you still do not see the camera view, turn external iSight off (rotate the front of the lens barrel), wait about 5 seconds, and turn iSight on again.
Although I am not using an iNtel Mac, the first one got me a dark image, and the second one got my external iSight working correctly.

  • Photo booth freezes and closes

Every time i open photo booth it just freezes, it doesn't do nothing for 3-4 seconds. Then it force quits.
Is there any way to fix it? :/
The camera is responsive because it works with Skype and iChat.

Repair permissions & restart. If that does not work, then I suggest that you cross-post over in the iSight Forums where the Photo Booth users hang out.
Which OS version do you have? Your first post states 10.5.4 but, your second post shows 10.5.1!

  • Photo booth mirror-not what you think

when i use the mirror effect on photo booth, it mirrors the left side of the view (you have two left hands) is there anyway to get it to mirror your right side?

    Hello again, mr.merino
Another idea that may be of interest to you...
If you are only trying to make one (or a few) of the reverse mirror images you post about, and if you are not interested in learning and writing Quartz compositions, you can take the "easy" approach and use a mirror.
Here is how I did what you ask about in Photo Booth without programming. No "Edit > Flip Photo" menu item was applied in any of the following images.
    (1) As a reference, I show this normal Photo Booth image of a left hand pointing left.
    (2) This image uses the "Mirror" effect on the same hand pointing the same way.
    (3) To mirror the right side instead of the left side, I selected the Photo Booth "Mirror" effect to make another mirror image. However, this time, I placed a mirror in front of the iSight and positioned the hand behind the iSight. By adjusting the positions of the mirror and the subject (hand) while I watched in the Photo Booth viewing window, I was able to obtain this image.
We await your response. Please confirm that the kind of left/right reversal between items (2) and (3) is what you are trying to accomplish.
