Leopard so far disappointing (I have it since day 1)
1) Huge printing problems in the beginning -> resolved
2) Adobe Photoshop 7 is a no go
3) Toast 7.1.2 broke
4) TimeMachine not working well on a network
5) Keynote did not play movies -> resolved after de-installing Perian
6) Adobe Acrobat not working for OCR with Scan Snap
7) Our office software (not Microsoft) not working well
8) Disk utility bug
these are so far the major issues I've had. I've upgraded every OS so far since 7, however with this upgrade I had even more issues than going from 9 to X. This is kinda sad!
My list is different, but I come to the same conclusion:
1. Time Machine does not work over a network and on local USB drives, makes the drive unmountable and seemingly unrecoverable. Multiple drives from multiple vendors.
2. I upgraded 3 machines (family pack!) and the Intel iMac spontaneously reboots every few days for no apparent reason.
3. Applications (particularly Finder and Mail) spontaneously crash for no apparent reason - several times a day.
4. Google Earth Pro (updated to latest version) occasionally locks with infinite beach ball.
5. Mail has a nasty bug with a To Do that it keeps trying to create on my .mac account .. can't create for some reason .. gives me a sequence of repeated error messages .. and crashes Mail. Repeatedly.
6. Back to My Mac does not seem to work at all.
7. There appears to be no performance gain ... in fact in some network configurations I have looked at, I suspect the TCP windowing strategy has been "improved" to detrimental effect.
This product is just released too soon. It is stable enough for me not to go through the hassle of restoring Tiger .. but buggy enough to be immensely irritating.

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:

I recently migrated my MacBook from 10.5.8 to 10.6.8, using the Snow Leopard CD I purchased from Apple. Since then I have noticed a strange ozone smell coming from the MacBook in the area where the hinges are to open and close the unit. I was told by Apple that it probably is not serious and is coming from the fans in the MacBook. It is true that the smell/odor is more intense when the fans are working. Apple said I should take the MacBook to an Apple Store to have the hardware checked out. Everything seems to be working correctly. I am backing up automatically wirelessly to a Time Capsule, which I had not done until recently, although I had purchased the Time Capsule in 2009. I have not noticed this odor before. Does anyone suspect something more serious that may be going on?
You may be smelling it because with the new OS the processor is having to work harder causing it to get hotter then it would with the other OS. I can't say there is nothing wrong, but what could be happening is just that, it's getting hotter so the fan is spinning faster and moving more air so you are getting more of the smell then you would before. I would still continue to back it up, and take it to the Apple Store at a Genius Bar and have them look at it to make sure. Was the computer ever in a smoky environment??

I have a MBP running Lion and its fine. I have an iPhone 4, iPad, and a family pack MobileMe account. I have a 2008 iMac that has Final Cut Pro and several other rosetta apps. The iMac is running snow leopard and I don't have any issues to complain about. Since I will be forced to move to iCloud in June if I choose to keep my account I am trying to figure out how to procede with my iMac. I find it annoying that Apple is in a sense forcing MobileMe subscribers to purchase an OS update (Lion $69.00) or at worst a newer computer (Lion will not run on pre-core 2 duo) if we want to "sync" our devices and continue to pay for mobileme services. On top of that, by forcing people to update to Lion to get iCloud, they are forcing people to lose support for any rosetta applications that they have an investment in.
I know about the rosetta install on Lion trick - (installing rosetta on a Lion machine from a snow leopard disc). I was lucky to have a snow leopard disc, so I could install rosetta on my MBP to have support for Final Cut Pro 6.
So, is there any hope of sync services with snow leopard on my iMac while moving my family MobileMe account to iCloud? So far, there seems to be alot of problems with iCloud syncing from what I have read. So in order to keep everything in sync (contacts, iCal, mail, etc.) with iCloud on all my devices (iPhone, MBP, iMac) I will have to buy a Lion install drive for the iMac and re-install rosetta and re-install all those applications as well....
Any thoughts ?Consider running your Adobe and AppleWorks software in Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) installed in Parallels in Lion or Mt. Lion:

I cant seem to download and install the latest iphone software update. I have tried since the release and have been unsuccessful on more than 7 occasions and lost all the data on the process. Anyone have that problem an how do I fix this problem?

Thanks but I have tried doing the above - when I said 7 times I was modest, its more like 15 times.
And I am referring to the 5.1 software update. I dont have wifi so I guess I will have to try that seeing that my husband also has the same problem - he has also tried downloading several times. It always times out en says that the connection is lost but yet there are always an internet connection and a decent signal once it stopped. Think it said error 32052 or something!
I am disappointed because the update includes inprovement on the battery life - did you guys notice any difference? -
Mac user, OSX 10.9.4. CS6, in the new Blur gallery the pin with adjusters does not appear for any of the three blur filters. This may have occurred since taking adobe watermark add-on and updating Bridge. any ideas?

I ran into the same problem: I am able to place and view Blur Gallery pins but the adjustment wheel or outer control arounf the pin that allows you to tweak the blur value disappeared after being initially available. Additionally, the placed pin or pins appear to flicker on screen (while in blur gallery mode) until committing the change with the OK button. I have tried restarting both the computer and Photoshop, as well as what some other users have suggested such as View>Show>Edit pins turned on. Nothing has helped so far. I am still able to adjust the blur amount from the Blur Tools slider. thank you. -
I am atrying to install iPhoto 11, so far all I have gotten is the phrase "installing". No bar showing progress. It has been about 45 minutes since I bought the app. How much longer should I wait? Or what should I do next?

itunes wont open at all, error message : quicktime was not found .... please reinstall ... i did that but no luck this only seems to have happened since the 10.4 update, im on windows 7 ..
Can you start QuickTime on your computer?
You'll probably have to search for the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and use it to remove QuickTime Player and iTunes. Then download and install the iTunes again. -
My email was deleted and I have long since forgotten the password - plus I must have typed personal information in incorrectly... I can't reset my password (email goes to deceased email account) and I have $$$$ left! What do I do to get access to the remaining dollars?
You do realize that there are many, many email providers and without knowing which one you are talking about, there is no way to answer your question?
Which then leads to this ..... Have you contacted your email provider about this? That's probably the best place to start. See what they recommend. -
I have an imac with snow leopard. I do not have enough memory to get lion.
I switched my mail to icloud and now my ipod touch has icloud.
i can receive mail on my ipod touch and through the icloud web site, BUt I cannot receive mail on my mac directly any more. There is an exclamation point on my mail in box and also an ! on .mac.
Can anyone help me with settings so I can receive mail again directly on my mac?

iTunes Match has stopped uploading - every file errors and says waiting - I have tried to delete the files and use other formats etc. I have had the service since Day 1 and NEVER had an issue. It didn't start until the Delete from Cloud switch to Hide from cloud - the files that do not upload show grayed out on my other devices.
Have you confirmed that you successfull purged iTunes Match by also looking on an iOS device? If so, keep in mind that Apple's servers may be experiencing a heavy load right now. They just added about 19 countries to the service and I've read a few accounts this morning that suggests all's not running perfectly right now.

I have just recently realized that my time machine has not backed up in a couple of weeks. I am using a LaCie external hard drive that I purchased with the iMac and has been plugged into the firewire port since day one. When I try to establish a connection it only gives me airport utility. When I look through network connections it shows that my fire wire is not connected or at least it doesn't find anything connected.
I have also been getting a start up disk message off and on that I need to close applications due to no more memory? (or something similar to that).
Just curious what might have changed. Did an update re configure something? Are these two issues connected?
I have always loved my Mac for the fact that it just always worked. I'm not super savvy with computers and the settings so I'm not the kind that just goes in to tweek things. If your Firewire or USB isn't recognizing any device. A solution which has worked for some whose hard drive became invisible in 10.4 was simply to follow these four steps to reset the Firewire/USB bus:
1. Shut the machine down.
2. UNPLUG the power lead to the computer and any firewire/USB drive or devices.
3. leave it for 10 minutes.
4. Connect back up and reboot.

Since you have no credit history, my guess is you would need at least a year of on time payments, and I'm not sure a pre-paid account would qualify as you can stop at any time.
You didn't specify your age, but getting started int he credit world is not easy - you may try applying for a gas card, or a credit card, and USE them, pay them off each month - and expect to take a year or more to establish a record.
