Leopard unexpected hang problem

hi all;
i have IMac leopard 10.5.8 with intel processor, but now i face a problem that my system screen lock(nothing work , no mouse , no mouse) and show a screen message that you need to power off your system then i restart my system then show the bug report .... that report is as follow.... please give me a solution as soon as possible.

Well, that could very well be your issue. Macs are very picky about what RAM they use.
I only use Crucial RAM in my three Macs. It's Apple friendly high quality RAM.
What I would try is removing the moserbear RAM and try running your Mac. If it doesn't KP you can be pretty certain it's the RAM you added causing the kernel panics.
But it's also possible that the moserbear RAM has corrupted your directory to the point where it KP's anyway.
Let us know how it runs with it's original RAM and we will go from there.

  • Mac Pro optical drive hardware is causing Leopard to hang on startup

    I had installed Leopard on a new internal drive with a clean install. However, everytime I tried to boot, it hanged on the blue screen or took me to the Leopard desktop where it froze.
    I called Apple and through the process of elimination they asked to to disconnect my two optical drives...the first is a Sony NEC Optiarc DVD RS AD-7170A that came with the computer. The second is a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-112. After separating the ribbon cable that connects both drives, I was able to successfully boot into Leopard with no problems. That said, Apple regarded my issue as now a hardware issue rather than a software issue...and said I should take the Mac Pro into the local store for repair.
    I've tested each of the optical drives individually to see if by hooking them up one by one to see if one will allow the system to boot. But neither one allows me to boot into Leopard successfully. Apple also says that the ribbon cable could also be a possible reason as well.
    Before I make the trek to the store, does anyone out there have any similar stories to share with their Mac Pro? I have NOT updated to the latest firmware for the Mac Pro which is EFI 1.2 and I may try that as a last resort. Also, I tried to find any Superdrive firmware updates for the Mac Pro's Sony Optiarc drive on Apple's website, but could not locate any.
    Let me know if anyone out there has some info to share on this.

    Thanks for the reply, but I took it to the apple store today and they ran a full diagnostic test on it. It turns out it really wasn't the optical drive. There was a bad sensor on the logic board causing the power supply fan to run at full blast. Looks like im gonna have to wait even longer to be able to enjoy my mac pro:(

  • Unexpected QUIT problem in locating library in AirDisk

    When I copy my iPhoto 08's library to AirDisk and locate it to there.
    An unexpected Quit problem happens every time I start the iPhoto application.
    The application quits before instantly after it starts.
    But it works just fine if I locate same library in my HD.
    Anyone have idea how to fix it?
    Or it is a bug in iPhoto 08 or Leopard?

    Have you searched the iPhoto forum for "air disk"? I'm not sure it's supported. Give the search a try to see what you find.

    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Leopard 10.5 problems with some music apps

    Leopard was just been released in Australia. I am one of the lucky ones to have a copy which I have just installed on my G5 powermac. However, now I find that under leopard, my G5 cannot start Garageband, Logic Pro 7 or Logic Pro 8. They all either crash or hang on start up. Soundtrack Pro is OK, as is iTunes, Final Cut Pro, and stand alone versions of software instruments, like Kontakt etc.
    I have tried to repair permissions, but disk utility also does not seem to be responding as per normal. It appears to start the process but goes on forever without issuing a report on its progress/results(?)
    I note on the Logic Pro 8 forum, that some people have experienced similar start up crash or hang problem problem with that software (under Tiger) but this behaviour did not start until I upgraded my system to Leopard.
    Does anyone have any ideas on what to try to fix the problem?

    Others are now reporting similar problems on the Logic Pro 8 forum. One "fix" appears to be to remove the rewire folder from Application Support/Propellerhead Software (and possibly, other rewire applications you may have such as melodyne). I have found that this now enables me to fire up garageband, logic pro 8, logic pro 7, and cubase 4, although I am getting some strange error messages now with some of these applications - they don't seem to be "happy".
    Seems like the issue has something to do with rewire under OSX10.5.

  • Leopard/Dreamweaver/Flash Problems

    Although Dreamweaver and Flash will both start, i cant get them to display any of my files or any new files- is this another Leopard/CS3 compatibility problem? Anybody have a solution? I can run Photoshop CS3 no problem.

  • Hanging problem

    My Nokia asha 200 is hanging very frequently and gets switched off automatically and does not switch on by pressing the power button.Every times it happens I have to remove the battery & then the phone starts and after 5-10 min it again hangs.
    Also I went to Nokia care 4 times where they just updated the software but after this the hanging problem still continues and It's really frustrating me. I have tried all solutions such as hard and soft reset but the problem continues.

    To prevent freezing or lagging/slow response on any BlackBerry, the most important practice you can adopt is to be sure to CLOSE applications when you are finished using them.
    If you just hit the red "end call" key to go back to the home screen the application actually stays open and running in the background. If you do this repeatedly you will have lots of apps open and consequently your memory will get used up. Lack of memory is the biggest reason your BlackBerry slows to a crawl or locks up. If you get into the habit of actually using the menu key to close the applications this will at least slow down this memory-clogging process. You still may have to do a battery pull or use the "Quickpull" app once in a while when things get slow.
    To check what applications are running on your device in the background, press the Menu key then choose Switch Applications. You will see the icons of each application there.
    So now, check your applications running in the background. There are commonly four or five applications that will always be running (Messages, Call Logs/Phone, BlackBerry Messenger, Homescreen, and the Browser; there are other third party applications such as BeeJive, and BlackBerry Alerts which will also run in the background which you cannot close if you want them to operate). Make certain that the browser is NOT on an active webpage (open the browser and choose Menu > Close). Close any other applications that do not need to be running (the camera or a game you were playing or Google Maps).

  • Unexpected quit problem

    So I see Apple's fix for the "application unexpectedly quit" problem in iDVD '08. I'm supposed to delete this folder, among others:
    ~/Library/Application Support/iDVD/Installed Themes
    and
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.idvd
    I know they are in my home directory.
    But damned if I can find them.
    Little help....

    Just checking to ensure that you understand that the ~ means from within your home directory.
    i.e. say your computer username was 'al' then the '~' represents /Users/al/
    So ~/Library is the same as saying /Users/al/Library/...
    I've checked my iMac and they exist.

    I think this new scrolling behaviour was introduced with Lion. You do get used to it pretty quickly (well I did). Are you sure that deselecting Natural Scrolling in Mouse Prefs doesn't re-instate the previous behaviour, it does here.

  • I have just purchased an iMAC. O/S is Lion. I just cannot access the files in my Microsoft network drive which my  macpro snow leopard has no problem. Looks like it is just the Lion O/S has the problem.  The file I needed to access are my photo files.

    I have an iMAC running Lion cannot access my Microsoft Network drive.  It sees it on Finder but said connection failed.  By other Macpro Laptop which run Leopard has no problem at all. It lreads and load my photos from the RAID Drive. I am sure some asked the question before but it is new to me. That was the reason I am not upgrading my Macpro to Lion yet.  was it a bug in Lion networking area?

    You need to move to Windows 7, because Apple is now releasing a new OS X version annually and it's playing havoc with people's hardware and software.
    Windows 7 will get support until 2020, that's 8 years of software stability, however you do need to make System Restore disks, boot disk and another on a hard drive to self restore (like TimeMachine is for OS X)
    Apple has no plans to change their currrent behavior as all they care about is selling new hardware with a shiny new OS X verison on it.
    If you wait to move, what will happen is you'll lose that full 8 years and will have to swtich to a newer Windows sooner
    Windows 7 machines are still widely avaialble, despite Windows 8 (a failure) being pushed currently.
    Running three OS X operating systems on one machine is quite a chore reserved for only seasoned computer geeks, then it's only going to last X months as the next OS X version will be released, then the next a year after that.
    Another method would be to get a virtual machine software (virtualbox is free) and install Windows 7 into that to ease your transitition if you cant' spring for a Windows 7 machine, preferablly a tower that will last a long time.
    Here is a method to run Snow Leopard in Parallels, however it's a unapproced hack and not for the comptuer newbie.

  • Import DNG Hang Problem with OSX not with Win 7

    I installed LR4 on both my Mac Pro and Win7 machines for comparison purposes and have encountered a problem with importing files and converting to DNG format with OSX that is not present with Win7.
    OSX machine
    first gen Intel MAC Pro + 8GB memory multiple disks OSX 10.7.2
    Win7 Machine - latest set of MS patches installed
    Sandy Bridge Processor I5 2500K + 8GB memory multiple disks
    On both machines:
    I am importing 12 test images taken with my Nikon D300 and using a Kingston USB card reader
    Copying to a data only disk that does not contain the catalog
    Convert to DNG with copy to a sub-directory
    Renaming the files to DSC_0001.DNG sequence format
    Standard Previews
    Dont import suspected duplicated enabled
    No develop settings
    Metadata with a simple copyright statement
    OSX seemed to import the 12 DNG's ok as they all showed up on the Library grid screen... but the import seemed to hang before completion and no CPU was being consumed - this was prior to the previews being generated
    I waited for 10 minutes with no CPU activity and then cancelled the Lightroom task, at that point LR4 generated the previews and everything looks fine, I can modify the DNG images and everything seems normal with them
    With Win7 everything went as expected and completed in under 1 minute
    I have screen shots available and I can reproduce this behaviour consistently on OSX

    UPDATE - Further testing
    I tried to import the images into LR3 and it worked fine on OSX (I don't have LR3 on WIN7)
    However when under LR4 the hanging problem also occurs if I do a straight copy as well (ie: Dont convert to DNG format)

  • N79 hanging problem

         I purchased N79 1.5 years back. Now a day, it hangs so frequently. It is annoying me too much as most of the time while trying to call during phone book search it hangs. I tried the below solutions to make clear
    I reset the phone to factory settings using *#7370#. Once it hanged and it was not rebooting at all as caution given while doing factory reset. Then second time it was fine. No improvement…
    Phone reset + Removed all the content from Memory card (4Gb) and formatted from phone. Then copied, only picture, video, message folders… No improvement…
    Kindly suggest me how I can avoid hanging problem…

    I have also same problem with my Nokia N79, I just cancelled sensor for automatic themes from cover. Just open back cover & stick some paper or plastic cello tape on four hole marks of covers wich r sensor for automatic themes to change colour of back cover same as theme colour. From 2 days I feel my mobile working fine without hanging ! so try it, all the best.

    Flashmode or Fastboot mode is only for those that wish to root and install a custom Rom or firmware, if that's what you want to do then head over to XDA - Howwever have you tried a system repair as this usualy fixes issues after an upgrade.
    Performing a system repair using PC Companion will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data so best to backup before you begin
    Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
    Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
    If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

    I am geeting irritation on the service people aslo .if ur people not able to solve the problem .I will produce the bill and phone in court with hanging vidieos. if u want the videos i will send that also to ur mail in this there is no video attachment

    regarding the nokia care center is located in lower parel in phoenix mills.just get to phoenix and ask anybody about nokia care centre u will get there.
