Leopard will not allow me to reinstall software

By accident I placed an application folder into the trash and now when I try to reinstall it, the Mac reports that the software already exists and will not continue the installation. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Have you tried dragging it out of the Trash and putting it where it belongs?

    You cannot.

I would remove all components and Apple related software and then try the install again.

  • I bought a new computer but the Adobe Download Manager will not allow me to download software?

I have already installed software onto two computers - a laptop and desktop, but now I have a bought a new desktop computer (imac), and I cannot get the Adobe Download Manager to download the software onto it. I have deleted the Adobe Cloud software from the old computer, and have the Adobe Download Manager (that works fine on the laptop) on the new desk computer, but it will not allow me to download anything other than trials with a 30 day limit. I am paying my monthly Adobe Cloud sub so getting very frustrated.

I know... I deleted and then realised I should have uninstalled. Stupid of me.
However, maybe people at Adobe read this or something, cos it has suddenly started working fine.
    Thanks for reply BTW.

  • Leopard will not allow port enabling?

I had upgraded to Leopard recently and found that Leopard does not have procedures to enable specific ports like under Tiger.
I have set my Firewall to "Essential Services Only" and now I can not sync with my aTV. It say that I need to enable port 3689 and if I was in Tiger, I could do that under the Firewall preference. Now, with Leopard, I can not enable specific ports. Does anyone know how to enable ports or if it is even possible under Leopard?
    Thanks,
    Tony

Opening specific ports in leopard is indeed possible, just not user friendly. For the moment there are least two apps (freeware) that will do the job nicely. It can of course be accomplished with terminal commands as well. I know, you just can't wait to dive in and start typing terminal commands.... but, just in case you might want a use a GUI, here are couple links to "Noobproof" and "Waterroof":
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/26502/noobproof
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/23317/waterroof
You do not need to disable your Leopard's firewall to use these apps as they will work in conjunction with it.

  • •Ever since my fiancee had his Ipod touch malfunction my computer will not allow me to reinstall Itunes or any other kind of installer? I was on the web for ten hours trying to figure out what I can do!

I am not sure what it is that happened?
But, I think it was his Ipod that messed the computer installer up!
I can download Itunes, but I am not able to run it?
I also cannot run any other kind of programs on my computer since this had happened!
I finally got his Ipod to show the usb and the Itunes ogo but now can't re-install the Itunes to restore his Ipod!
If anybody has any ideas I will keep trying!
    Thank you for reading!

  • CS5 - License Agreement Loops - Will not allow me to Run Software

John T. Smith suggested the following:  "Create a folder on your hard drive and see if you can use WinExplorer to copy all of the disc to that folder, and run from the folder."  Which I did and the installation completed successfully.

Now, when I go to open any of the programs, i.e. photoshop I am asked to accept the license agreement, which I do.  I am then asked for my serial number which I provide and I get the little green check mark.  When I click on continue it loops me back to the license agreement. It keeps looping and I cannot access any of the programs.
I then installed Adobe Acrobat 9.3.  When I attempt access the program I received the following error message "you cannot use this produce at this time, you must repair the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling this product."
Honestly I have never had so many problems installing any product.  To top it off Adobe does not offer any technical support on the weekends.  I've been fighting all weekend with this product when I need to get assignments done.  I'm truly at my wits end.  If anyone out there has experienced similar issues I would so appreciate hearing from you and anything you did to resolve them.

It sounds like you had a bad disk which is rare but hey it happens.  Here's what I would do.
Deactivate the software (assuming you can launch an application)
    Uninstall everything
Run the Adobe CS5 Clean Tool - http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs5clean.html
Optional Paranoid steps - restart the PC, run the CS5 clean tool again to verify there is nothing (Adobe MC5 anyway) on your system
    Restart the PC
Make sure any and all anti-virus and anything you can turn off is off.
    Install Master Collection as before.
I hope this helps and I'm sorry that you're experiencing some problems.  If the above doesn't work, I'd consider requesting new media to install your software on.
    Best,
    Dennis

  • Part of a previous uninstall will not allow me to reinstall the latest verison of Firefox even though a search shows all previous versions are removed?

I am unable to install due to a message I get that says a previous version was not completely uninstalled and wants a restart of my PC? A search reveals there is no remaining Firefox on my PC so is there a fix?

Dear Colbabomb; thankyou for your links.
So far, I looked at your first solution, Revo Uninstaller and it gives you a 30 free trial. Ergo, it will eventually cost money so I'm leery of using those kinds of programs in general, meaning most "free trials" have unwanted strings attached and often are big probs to get rid of later. Perhaps you can assure me that it is easy and very user friendly, before I proceed. And I already ran malwarebytes and it found nothing tho the program still can't be uninstalled. I downloaded Adw Cleaner and during the install, my Norton's security popped up and warned that there were (low risk) threats with two of their "other offers" and i hadn't even actually clicked to agree either of them. Nonetheless, Norton warned me against the "lyrics finder" and "deal ply." In fact, there was a box already with an x in it, saying that you are accepting deal ply if you x on "next." Well, except I unchecked that box before clicking on next, yet when it went to fully install, it still showed that it was adding itself; so, just before the install was 100% completed, I had to abort the whole thing. I really do hope your other suggestions are programs that you personally know that they don't try and trick you. But right now, I would not suggest Adw Cleaner to anyone. I even read the fine print about what they will try and install and how to decline and it still tried sticking stuff on that i believed I had declined. Anyways, i have to leave now, shall pick up later this evening, if my pc is still functioning.

  • Computer will not allow me to install software, like Adobe updates, because they were not downloaded from the Apple App store

Two times now, I've tried to download and install something (Adobe flash-player up-date AND DIRECTV so I can watch TV channels on my computer) and each time I get a caution symbol and it says that the software cannot be opened by Safari BECAUSE it was not from the App Store.  What do I need to be able to install these apps?

  • Having a problem with noises and mouse jumping, tried to reinstall and computer will not allow me to select the correct install icon.  Sends me to xcode install

my kids computer began acting up this spring...so I shut it down.
Would not stay turned off, various noises almost continually, jumping highlights, etc.
Decided to reinstall os x snow leopard.  insert disc and icon appears.  then 3 icons with x in a column.
automatically highlights middle icon and will not allow me to select one above.  Says install xcode.
not what i want to do.
    any help?

What model iMac do you have?
What version of Mac OS is it running? If you don't know, try to give approximations on when it was set up and whether it was ever updated so we can take our best guess.
How are you trying to boot from the install disc? Your description of 3 icons with x in a column' leads me to believe that you aren't booting from the install disc, but rather you are inserting the disc after booting from the OS that is installed on the hard drive. If that is what is happening you'll see something like this, although it will vary depending on the actual version of the Install Disc that you have and how you've chosen to view the files (icon, list, column, etc).
What happens if you restart the system with the Install Disc inserted, then quickly hold down the 'c' key so that the system attempts to boot from the Install Disc. Do you still experience the same issue?

  • I have an iphone 4 and after updating it to the ios5 software, it will not allow me to activate nor allow me to leave the setup page. i cannot even restore it. does anyone know what to do?

i have an iphone 4 and after updating it to the ios5 software, it will not allow me to activate nor allow me to leave the setup page. i plugged it into itunes and it is stuck there too... i cannot even restore it. does anyone know what to do?

I have had this same issue but thankfully fixed it. Follow he steps below:
Sync your iPhone with you iTunes therefore your info is backed up. Unplug your phone.
Go to Settings > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
Once your phone has reset and come back on answer the question until it asks if you want to back up from itunes Click this then plug your phone in.
After everything has sync'd back to your phone everything should work fine.
    Hope this helps.
