Leopard wont launch iDVD

My happily installed Leopard wont launch my iDVD 4.0.1 Any suggestions?

According to this page, The only iDVD versions that work in Leopard are 6.0.4, and 7.0.1 (or higher I presume).
I upgraded from iDVD 4 to iDVD 6.0.4 for Leopard compatibility, and DVD encoding took twice as long (on the G4 in my sig).
Now I use Toast 7.1.3 for DVD encoding. It takes about as long as iDVD 4 used to.
I don't know how iDVD 6 performs on a G5 though.

I've just installed Mav OS X Snow Leopard on my ancient MacBook and now my very old photoshop CS2 wont launch - it was working fine before I upgraded my operating system. Help!

Photoshop cs2 requires Rosetta on snow leopard.
You can install rosetta from your 10.6 install dvd

    Hi,
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
Open Console in Applications>Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when trying to open CS2.

  • IDVD 6 wont launch

I accidentally installed the iLife '08 into my G4 PowerBook. The software is not compatible with G4's. The iDVD application wont launch. I want to go back to iDVD 6 and have tried and tried to install it without success. I erased .plist and the '08 package from the Library, erased com.apple.iDVD from the Cache folder and nothing happens when I reinstall the '06 iDVD. I ran out of options please HELP!

Erase ALL instances of iDVD (including iDVD's themes) from your computer. Then, use the original install disks for iDVD 06 to reinstall iDVD. This should get a properly functioning copy of iDVD working on you Mac.
    Good luck!

  • Windows wont launch during XP SP2 install

I'm having issues installing XP SP2 (OEM) on my Macbook Pro system w/ Boot Camp 2.0, Leopard 10.5.2. Windows wont launch after 100% of files are copied from the disc during the install process.
Boot Camp partitions HD correctly and asks for the Windows Install Disc. System restarts from the CD and begins installation - I access the blue screen where I select XP partition - 'C: Partition3 (Bootcamp) (FAT32)'. I hit Enter and installation begins. B.C. setup manual shows 2nd blue screen where you select the file system you want (FAT file or NTFS file) - I have not seen this screen yet. Does this appear after installation? Installation begins and progress bar installs through 100% in 20-30 minutes.
At 100%, computer immediately restarts to black screen and "Press any Key to continue" appears. If I press key, original installation screen appears and it takes me through the exact same process I just did. If I don't hit a key, error occurs and the screen freezes at "Press any Key". If I restart, original install screen appears and Windows re-starts installation. I'm stuck in a loop. I erased the partition with B.C., re-partitioned, but still the same result.
Any advice? I need this for school ASAP.
    Thanks,
    j

I watched a Youtube Video about installing so I see where the problem is. I don't see the initial End-User License agreement screen, and after I select 'C: Partition3 (Bootcamp) (FAT32)', the "Select File System" screen that is supposed to immediately show up does not appear. What gives? I know OEM should work with Boot Camp.

  • Garageband Wont Launch

For some reason, after I installed Leopard my Garageband wont launch. I have tried to reinstall it from my iLife '08 disc and still no luck. It freezes on the startup and then I get the 'report/ignore' window. I am fairly new to Mac's so if anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate the help.

After each system install, you should repair the permissions of your hard drive (with the HD Utility). Additionally, you should trash your GB prefs (com.apple.garageband.*) in your home folder. Hope that helps!

  • Itunes wont launch, no error message, no blue screens, just wont open

itunes wont launch, i get no error message, no blue screen, it just wont open. I've tried to delete and reinstall, but once i close itunes i still have same issue. it wont open again.

I have same problem  on my XP lap top and Windows 7 PC.    Apple have been investigating this problem for me for a week now without success so far.  Understand it 's ongoing with other customers as well.
It is caused by an bit of program called APSDaemon supplied by Apple in latest i-Tunes.     Your quick fix to enable you to open i-Tunes again is as follows:-     open Task Manager (right click bottom toolbar), click on Task Manager, select Processes.   Find APSDaemon, highlight and press END PROCESS.      I-tunes will now re-open ok.   You have to repeat this every time you want i-Tunes re-opened until you switchoff or restart.
A pain I know, but lets you keep going until Apple repair and release an update for i-Tunes

  • Premiere Elements 11 wont launch on my MacBookPro

I installed Premiere Elements 11 today and it wont launch.
The launch window doesn't get past:
    Loading SmartSoundAdobePlugin.bundle
before I get the Adobe Premiere Elements 11 quit unexpectedly; report.
I click re-open and the problem persists.
    My System Profile:
    Model: MacBookPro10, Intel Core i7, 2.6 GHz, 16 GB,
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4000, Intel HD Graphics 4000, Built-In, 512 MB

    Memory Module: BANK 1/DIMM0, 8 GB, DDR3, 1600 MHz,
    OS X version 10.8.4
I have re-installed twice and received no installation errors.
Would appreciate any tips on what I am doing wrong.

    Good on you Steve,
      and thank you.
In addition to following your two tips, I came across some additional information related to fonts. I validate the font library and reloaded it. I was then able to open Premiere Elements 11; SonicFire plug-in still didn't work.
I found some information in the forum on a related SonicFire patch - installed the patch and everything is working fine. Turned on Retina display and life is good.
You're worth your weight in gold - thanks again.

  • HELP Itunes wont launch after upgrading

I downloaded the latest Itunes, and then tried to launch it.
I keep getting the following message
"error getting file security :\C\program files\get last error 5
I have even tried to remove I tunes through the add & remove section in the control panel, but this also does not allow me to do this and i get the same message.
    Can someone help ???

I just bought a new iPod Nano and installed iTunes 7.02 sucessfully and it wont launch at all...it simply sits there.
    some preliminary questions.
are you getting an error message? if so, what does it say? include error message numbers if you're getting any.
or are you getting no error messages whatsoever when you try to launch itunes?
if you're getting no error messages whatsoever, do you just see the wee hourglass for a few seconds, and then nothing? if so, do you also have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on that PC?
also, reboot the PC. bring up your Task Manager, and click on the "Processes" tab. now try to launch itunes again.
does an "itunes.exe" process appear in the Processes tab? if so, does it persist in there or does it disappear after a few seconds?

  • Itunes wont launch, though it says its running

So heres the deal, got a new comp a few weeks ago and installed itunes on it. I'm running windows XP pro (same as on old one) and when I try to run itunes it wont launch. It says its running in my task manager though. I've tried reinstalling it, but same thing happens. Any suggestions? Thanks!

ok i think we might be onto something here with the first link, the dosent open after upgrade one. Everything went fine until step 7, the main SCinfo file exists, but the SC Info.sidb file that it shows being inside there is NOT there. Could this be a problem with the installation or something else?
Though i suppose if it wasent there at all it shouldent hurt as your supposed to delete it anyways....but if thats the case (I certainly didnt delete it already)and the fix is to delete a file that isnt there anyways, i'm not sure that will help.

  • HT4589 Final Cut Pro wont launch anymore

I updated to the latest version of Final Cut Pro and now it wont launch.  the window comes up and all I get is a spinning colourful wheel as a cursor and no way to operate the software.

Could be a problem within one or more of your Events or Projects.
Move your Events and Projects to new (temporary) folders so that FCP X doesn't find them on launch.
If it launches OK, then quit the app and move the Projects back one by one (re-launching each time). The media will be offline (red clips) but if it launches OK, quit again, and move the Events back one by one - re-launching each time you move an Event.
This should isolate the offending Event - you can then use a similar technique to track down the individual file.
