Less CDs for download than in the medai kit

Has anyone found where to get the freeware cd for x86 sol9 and the documentation cd with answerbook server? The first is available for download for sparc only or packages only and the second is not there at all :(
Also is it possible to run oracle 8.1.7 EE from the sol8 x86 media kit under sol9? it should be, shouldn'it?

Two suggestions for troubleshooting this:
Use divide-and-conquer. Split the folder in half and import each half, counting how many images Windows Explorer shows and how many LR shows. Pick a half that still exhibits the problem, and divide it into halves. Repeat. After 8 iterations, you'll be left with about 20 pics in a folder that still shows the problem, and manual examination of the list of photos in that folder will give a strong clue as to what's going on (e.g. some pics that LR doesn't recognize).
Use the command prompt and the DIR command to produce a list of all the files in the folder. Use the LR/Transporter plugin to produce a list of all the imported files. Then import both lists into Excel and sort and compare the lists. Obviously, there are many other tools other than Excel you might use to compare the two lists.
Either approach is likely to take at least 30 minutes.

There is no charge for the JCOP Tools. The tools are provided as-is with no warranty or support. Instructions for downloading and activating the tools follow.
Please note that because our Java Card operating system is now available for more than one silicon vendor, IBM will no longer act as a distributor for sample cards. For those who are interested to use the JCOP simulator for a start, I have checked that the plug-in and feature files (in tools.zip) for Eclipse are still available at IBM site, please download and install yourself.
I still keep a copy of user guide for JCOP tools (version 3.1.1a) and the contents are still relevant to Version 3.1.1b simulator in tools.zip.

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

I want to preorder a book that will be available this fall, but I'll be living abroad for a short time when it's available for download. Will the book download for me while I'm living abroad, or do I have to wait to get back to my country?

Specifics are: Currently living in the U.S. and will be studying abroad for a semester this fall in London. How do I get my money back for downloading Lion? The program appears rather useless and full of defaults, so I wish to go back to snow leopard. Any ideas?

A couple of functions don't work anymore (ical, qucik time), things I actually use quite frequently. I am not satisfied at all with Lion and would wish to cancel my purchase. Apple is trying its best to hide any potential contacts, so does anyone have an idea?

iCal and QuickTime are working fine for me, and I've not seen a large number of problems reported with either. You may find that if you start a thread in the Mac OS X 10.7 forum with details about the problems, someone can help you sort them out.
As to a refund, it's doubtful you can get one, but you can contact Mac App Store Customer Service and ask.

Application waits for a responce from the DB ...

I have a multi threaded .NET application that interacts with ORACLE 10g DB.
When the multi thread is executing for less than 4hrs continuously there is no problem, but if it continuous execution for more than 5hrs the application doesn't respond.
To track the problem i have followed the standard logging process i.e. to a file. When i analyzed the file i could see the application sending a request to the DB and waits for the reply, but the server doesn't reply.
One thing to be looked in is that the same piece of code was execution for 5hrs.
I have no idea of this behavior, some one please help me out ...

Result is : No rows returned.
I would like to know what would be the reason that all the 10 session have disappeared from V$SESSION.

How to log in background and execute a function for downloading a file

I have an application with logon functionality. Over the application there is function to create a xml file for downloading it to the pc.
Now i want to download this file in background and save it to a server.
My problem is here how can i do this. The main problem is how to logon with the userid and password in background and how to dowload the file.

Vista/Win7 - Using Aero for more than window decoration?

I was wondering if it's possible to use the 'glass' effect in java as found under Windows Vista and 7.
For example, windows explorer uses the glass effect for more than just the window decoration, there is also a bit below the titlebar containing the addressfield/navigation buttons/searchbar.
Is it possible to create something similar looking in Java? I realise this will kill off multi-platform support, but that can be worked around in other ways.
So far I've discovered that the dwmapi is needed to access the feature, but I'm unable to find a java implementation of it and don't have the knowledge to write my own.
So are are any libraries out there for this purprose, or does anyone have a simple example?

so that's C++, VB and C# so far, still haven't found how to do it in java.Thats correct, if you want Vista aero effects only in your application, then you have to turn to platform specific languages like C#.
For java, you can make your own effects. So, what is your goal? using Vista Aero or making a good looking application?
For learning how to make good looking applications in java, one of the best books is ' [Filthy Rich Clients|http://filthyrichclients.org/] '. It discusses how you can make use of java libraries like Swing, Java2D, Java3D, animation libraries, etc. to develop nice applications. Check the examples given at the site (I like the StackLayout example). They made a 'Filthy Rich Client' also, called Aerith. (Check this)
I remember this book also discusses how you can achieve blurry translucent (Vista like) effect for Swing dialog. Its source is given on the same site, I also found its source here. So you can try it out, and check how java's aero looks like ;-)
Andrew gave you the link of the article about translucent Frames, I would like to mention that newly released JavaFX makes making translucent(transparent) frames more easier. Please check [this out.|http://javafx.com/samples/SwirlingSquares/index.html] And yes, JavaFX makes your application look really cool without much effort (I have not yet learned it, just saw the demos). You can also try out the demos of JavaFX here.
So, its up to you, Java can make your application look good, but without making use of Vista Aero.

QuickVPN 1.4.2.1 - latest release not online for download?

I am having troubles connecting the QuickVPN on Win7 (both 32 + 64bit) systems with a RVS4000. It worked once and from then on I get the known error message "Failed to establish a connection. This could be caused by one of the following: 1. Incorrect password..."
I read about a new QuickVPN release 1.4.2.1:

Unfortunately i Could not find it anywhere: the product support pages for the RVS 4000 only offer QuickVPN 1.4.1.2 for download, same with the other RV series products.
The release notes state that some NetBIOS problem is fixed in this version - which was another of my problems before I couldn´t connect anymore.

Try reading the fixes again, there is only one fix.
This release fixed a graphical user interface (GUI) font issue seen when the client runs on the Windows operating system in Japanese. The GUI fields were not changed, but now display properly
Netbios is only mentioned in "Known Issues"
afaik this version will be released shortly but really there is no difference apart one one fix.

Is there a way to have files available for download on your iweb site?

Ok here's the question. If I wanted a image file or music file to be available for download on your iweb site.....would that be possible?
Kind of like when you go to a website and sometimes it has a link you can press to download a file. If you click the file then the "save as" or "download" window opens depending on your browser.
Is something like this available on an iweb site? If so then how would you create something like that? Any help would be appreciated.

There are two ways to link to files with iWeb. The approach that iWebFaq outlines results in iWeb making a copy of the file in question and storing it in the domain.sites file. Then, when it publishes your website, it puts a copy of the file in the right place in the folders it publishes. Visitors to your site then download that copy.
You are correct that you can put things in your public folder of your iDisk for download. But the process of linking to those files is different. When you set up the link in iWeb (using the inspector) you need to choose "external link" and provide the url of the file in question.
For more background on the differences between these approaches, and the advantages of each, see this thread. That thread also has some good links for sorting out what the url of the files in your public (and other) folders of your iDisk are.

Linking Zip folders for download

Hi, I want to make my albums available for download with all the MP3s in compressed zip folders...
I am able to add individual MP3's for download or stream by linking the direct file, however when I compress multiple MP3s into one Zip folder the link is broken and it wont download. I can't seem to find any information about this.
Im using Dreamweaver CS3 and Mac OSX 10.5.8

The link should look something like this:
<a href="photos2009.zip">Download the zip file</a>
if the zip file is in the root of the directory (with all your other files).
The zip file needs to be in the folder structure you are working from.
Highlight the text and use the Link box or the "point to file' icon in the Property Inspector to create the link to the file - the same way you create a link to any other files.
I do notice that you have spaces in the files name of the zip file. There should be no spaces in the file name - that could cause a problem.

I have turned off the "use cellular data" option for downloads related to the App Store on my iPhone 5s, yet it downloaded an update for a game on my 3G mobile internet. Is there a flaw in the software or why might that have happened?
