Less transparency and less design

Hi there guys,
Before installing ios7, I would like to read and save the various terms of service that I have to accept: 1) iOS 2) iCloud 3) Game center 4) privacy.
If I choose "send an e-mail", I receive the privacy policy only . Why? Is it a mistake or an Apple decision?
I also try finding these terms on the web. On the Italian apple site there is no references should be made to that use. There is a link to the USA site, where there are conditions of service of iOS7, in english of course, but not the others.
Not finding this information, I asked a colleague who had already installed iOS7.
I was lucky, because the design is really ugly!
Less transparency and less design. is it a coincidence or a trend?

Hi everyone again. I need an urgent answer - on my way to the Apple shop to buy the new MacBook. I read many posts complaining about this computer being too hot or noisy, so is there any sense if the 2,0 GHZ is better as to this than the basic one?

Hi Zorana,
No danger in running the battery flat and then recharging, as long as you don't leave it dead flat for a few days. This was the "traditional" way of calibrating a battery in a Mac in earlier days. Its worth noting, though, that for the MacBook a slightly more sophisticated process is suggested by Apple - see http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86284 for the "right" way to do it with these computers.
As far as RAM goes, Lee is right. You should use matching pairs of RAM (same size, same speed) in the MacBook for best performance - see http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303721 and http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303718 for details.
I know its probably painful after buying a new computer, but if I were you I would replace your existing 256 Meg So-Dimm with another 1 Gig chip. You will genuinely notice the performance improvement when using graphics intensive applications.

OS X Mavericks vs less transparent Yosemite

Hey mac people,
I know yosemite is slower definitely,
but how does less transparent and dark mode ticked in yosemite, does this improve the performance a lot? compare to mavericks?
I like to game on my mac, thinking whether should upgrade to yosemite to improve it.
So I need you guys some advice, and how does 10.10.3? does it improved?

I'll add my 2¢ worth here and say that Yosemite is as fast or faster than Mavericks and other earlier systems.
However, don't ever install or run any optimizer or cleaning apps. Don't install antivirus software as it's not needed and most put a big hit on systems and application performance. Also check for adware occasionally by running AdWareMedic.
If you ever have questions at to the health of your Mac you can run Etrecheck and see what it finds and reports. It's an excellent diagnostic tools for us here at the ASC.

My font totally changed after the last Firefox update. It is a little smaller, less bold and very much less clear. Please tell me how to fix this.

The default font used on websites like Facebook, Craigslist, Google etc. has now become much worse since the last update. It is much less clear, it almost looks choppy and transparent. As if part of the letters are missing. Less bold and just a tad smaller as well. I would like to go back to the way the font used to look like, the way it does in Internet Explorer and Chrome.

hi miked91, this is probably caused by microsoft update kb3013455 which can cause font rendering issues on vista:

one option may be to [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/remove-update#1TC=windows-vista roll-back this particular update] for now until there is a fix by microsoft or you could also look if there is a [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL|graphics driver update]] available on the website of the vendor (intel/amd/nvidia) which might also resolve this problem in some cases.

How to make one area less transparent?

I have an object set to 60% opacity. I have a text box layered on top of that with white text. I would the object to be LESS transparent (90%opacity) where it lies under the text box. How can I do this? thank you.

Like Peter says, you can duplicate the object, reduce or adjust the shape to sit where you want it less transparent, set it to 30% opacity and maybe add a basic feather so there isn't a hard edge. Or you could try using a gradient feather within the object and adjust the sliders to suit, but this might be less precise.

LESS Implementation and Usage in CQ5.5

CQ 5.5 now supports LESS framework in ClientLibs.
I couldn't find any documentation on how this is done in CQ 5.5. Do I still need to include less.js on the client side or is there a server side preprocessor in CQ 5.5?
Anyone has any information it will be helpful.

I too was able to return the .less file as .css file like you did with the clientLib folder setup. However, to have the preprocessing of the .less file, less.js is also required unless
there is some server side preprocessing by CQ5.5 (my assumption).
The clientLibrary method returns <link type="text/css" href="<categoryname>.css" /> The linked file is not a compiled CSS file but contains the LESS syntax which is useless even with the less.js in the head. I only could get this to work by linking directly to the .less and javascipt file like so:

<script href="/etc/designs/site/js/less.js"></script>
I was looking for actual documentation on how this is implemented and working in CQ5.5

Go to "Firefox"--> "Options" --> "Advanced"
Then un-check "Use hardware acceleration when available"

The Publish to Responsive HTML5 function escapes these correctly in the main body of the text but does not work correctly in either the Contents or the Index of the generated HTML. In the Contents the words are completely missing and in the index entries the '\' characters that are required in the markers remain in the entry but the leading less than symbol and the first character of the word is deleted; hence what should appear as <dataseries> appears as \ataseries\>. I believe this is a FMv12 bug. Has anyone else experienced this? Is the FM team aware and working on a fix. Any suggestions for a workaround?

The Index issue is more complicated since in order to get the < and > into the index requires the entry itself to be escaped. So, in order to index '<x2settings>' you have to key '\<x2settings\>'. Looking at the generated index entry in the .js file we see '<key name=\"\\2settings\\>\">. This is a bit of a mess and produces an index entry of '\2settings\>'. This ought to be '<key name=\"&lt;x2settings&gt;\" >'. I have tested this fix and it works - but the worst of it is that the first character of the index entry has been stripped out. Consequently I cannot fix this with a few global changes - and I have a lot of index entries of this type. I'm looking forward to a response to this since I cannot publish this document in its current state.

I tried to use left parenthesis '(' and less than operator in an sql query through an xsql page, it doesn't let to use them.
Do you know how to use those in an xsql page?

ADF application taking more time for first time and less from second time

Hi Experts,
We are using ADF 11.1.1.2.
Our application contains 5 jsp pages, 10 - 12 taskflows, and 50 jsff pages.
For the first time in the day if we use the application it is taking more than 60 sec on some actions.
And from the next time onwords it is taking 5 to 6 sec.
Same thing is happening daily.
Can any one tell me why this application is taking more time for first time and less time from second time.

Issues with less than and grater than condition in prompts in OBIEE 11g,

Hi all,
i am facing the prombles with less than grater than conditions in OBIEE 11g.
i created two date prompts with presentation variables datefrom and dateto
and i used these prompts in fileters like this using grater than and less than symbol.
filters are as below:
lastupdated date is grater than or equal to @{datefrom}{1/1/1950}
lastupdated date is less than or equal to @{dateto){1/1/1950}
and created two prompts
creation datefrom >=
creation dateto<=
when i passing the dates 05/12/2004 and 05/12/2005 in prompts after clicking the apply button in OBIEE 11g it feches all the records but i need records between these dates. and one more thing is after clicking apply button the two date fields getting the same date..
am i do any thing wrong in the above ???
please let me know friends..

Hi,
Create date prompts with operator as = not >= (or) <= as you need to save that value in presentation variable and you are filtering report using those variable filters.
