Less wifi with ios 7

Hi
since I installed the new IOS 7 I have less wifi in my ipad. I usuakky got full range (three lines) and now I have only one and it takes ages to download.
I am in the same room as before. Anyone has the same problem?

Try a reset by holding the power and home keys down until the Apple logo appears. If that does not help, take it in for diagnosis.

  • ITunes - syncing over WiFi with iOS 7

    Ever since upgrading two phones to iOS 7, iTunes is spamming the console with constant disconnects:
    [date] server iTunes[pid]: Entered:_AMMuxedDeviceDisconnected, mux-device:id
    [date] server iTunes[pid]: Entered:__thr_AMMuxedDeviceDisconnected, mux-device:id
    etc etc
    This goes on for a while, about every 2 minutes, until iTunes hangs.
    Originally, I'd set up these phones to sync over WiFi. After switching this off – only for the devices on iOS 7 – the above errors stop ocurring. Again, this doesn't happen with iOS 6 devices.
    Running a Mac mini with Mac OS X 10.7.5.
    Any ideas beyond switching off WiFi syncing  – which is really inconvenient...

    Thank you very much!

  • Cant get wifi with ios 6 update

    Please someone help.  I haven't been able to get wifi all day with this ios 6 update.  Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

    That's almost always because the phone was hacked to unlock it at some point, or because you don't have a SIM card in the phone.

  • Multiple devolo dLAN 500 wifi with iOS devices

    Recently splashed out on a set of Devolo dLAN 500 wifi adapters which, using "WIFI Move" automatically share the same SSID and password to each of the adapters.
    In theory this seems like a good idea as your devices see a single SSID and connect to the strongest signal as you move around your house.
    So much for theory. I find iPads and iPhones routinely get confused and connect to the weakest signal  - even if you're standing right next to one of the adapters.
    For now the only work around I've found it so have different SSIDs on each devolo and manually switch networks when iOS refuses to.
    Cant believe I've the only person seeing this!
    FWIW Devolo tehc support pretty useless, but given my static desktop PC and Mac don't have a problem it looks to me perhaps more like an iOS/devolo specific thing.

    I can explain a little, as I explain, IOS and Mac OS X are not using the same roaming solution, and are not even storing the Access Point information in the same way ;-P
    and before I forgot, if you don't have the BSSID identical, then you need to sign in to all the access point one by one, so it'll store the info SSID/BSSID/security info for each ofr them and roaming is possible, this is probably why you have this issue, and I suppose your installation hase an issue : you need to be sure your laptop connect to ALL the access point one by one Avoid giving your wireless network a common name (SSID) - Apple Support (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201307), and store all the crendential at least one time ;-)
    After, to optimize your connection, it seems your "radio" plan is working ;-)
    as mentioned before, on iOS, especially, it's a fix logic without real empiric testing it seems, and is hard to manage except if you have a network assisted roaming (802.11k and 802.11r), as wifi roaming have been devoted to be a end point task, and not a network task (the opposite of your mobile phone, where this is network assisted task, the network help you and have capability to roam without network interruption, even calls or data interruption !)
    on Mac OSX, this is different, and here is the solution to make your macbook "smarter" when connecting to the wifi and handling roaming
    first, you have a tool to check how your mac is deciding the network and fallback /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/A/Resources/airport
    This tools, allow you to configure it's behavior, and check if first
    admin$ sudo /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/A/Resources/air port en0 prefs
    AirPort preferences for en0:
    DisconnectOnLogout=NO
    Unable to retrieve JoinMode
    JoinModeFallback=DoNothing
    RememberRecentNetworks=NO
    RequireAdminIBSS=NO
    RequireAdminNetworkChange=NO
    RequireAdminPowerToggle=NO
    WoWEnabled=YES
    By default, here, on Yosemite, the JoinMode is not set, meaning, it use the default, which is "Ask"
      prefs If specified with no key value pairs, displays a subset of AirPort preferences for
      the specified interface.
      Preferences may be configured using key=value syntax. Keys and possible values are specified below.
      Boolean settings may be configured using 'YES' and 'NO'.
      DisconnectOnLogout (Boolean)
      JoinMode (String)
      Automatic
      Preferred
      Ranked
      Recent
      Strongest
      JoinModeFallback (String)
      Prompt
      JoinOpen
      KeepLooking
      DoNothing
      RememberRecentNetworks (Boolean)
      RequireAdmin (Boolean)
      RequireAdminIBSS (Boolean)
      RequireAdminNetworkChange (Boolean)
      RequireAdminPowerToggle (Boolean)
      WoWEnabled (Boolean)
    So, to be sure the macbook is roaming properly, you need to :
       _ have the access point accessed alreayd ont time (same SSID, BSSID and security would be perfect, if only SSID and security, this is good enough normally)
       _ change the JoinMode and JoinModeFallback to the following settings :
             _ JoinMode=Strongest
             _ JoinModeFallBack=KeepLooking
    it works actually well in a non assisted environment, enterprise wise (with more than 200 access point from Ubiquiti), so, you give it a try, and let me know if you behavior is the one expected, and you can try actually multiple combinaisons for the joinMode, as every environment, especially house, are different, and others "rogue" access point maybe causing issue to Mac OS X.
    take care, have a great day
    Fabien.
    PS : if you need to check the quality and power of the different access point, you can simply press the wifi icon in the menu bar with the "alt" pressed, or use /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/Current/Resourc es/airport -s to have the listing of the wifi SSID and BSSID around.

  • Since iOS 8 came out, my iPad Air with iOS 7.1.2 is slow on wifi searches. Is this the way to for me to update? After reading the common threads, I do not want to upgrade yet. Is there another solution?

    What is wrong with this picture? We are forced to vent on forums and rely on other users to find answers to our problems. Obviously, after reading other posts, we all suffer from poor quality controls before release of upgrades and new "toys"! I have an iPad Air replacing an iPad 1st Gen bought on the first day of release. Was happy until iOS 7 was introduced. Since then, many frozen screens on the web, unexpected shut downs for reboot. No, it is not full, as I have over 70gigs available. I close my apps regularly so they don't run in the background. NOW, since the release of iOS 8, my wifi connection is slow like ****, to almost not working. And I haven't even ungraded to iOS 8! Is this Apple's new way to force me to upgrade? My iPhone 4S is faster, although I have to change it. No battery life, regular unexpected shutdowns. JUST WRITING THIS POST IS PAINFULL: at one point, I was only able to erase text by backing up... No editing possible, no new typing either... As if I was monitered and they did not agree with my text. So weird... Anyways it is back now. As I was saying, need to change phone, but I am afraid to buy  the 6 with iOS 8.
    SO, here are my questions: what can i do for my iPad Air connectivity issues? And between an iOS 7 iPhone 5S and iOS 8 iPhone 6, what to choose?

    If you don't like to be helped by other users that volunteer their time to help other users, then go to your nearest Apple store, and talk to a Genius there at the bar. Call up Apple Support. There are ways to get direct Apple Support. These forums are here to help out those who want help. Not for those who just want to vent.

    The iPad Air shipped with iOS 7 from factory, so not sure what that means.   it worked with 7 but then it did not?
    Whatever is going on with your iPad now, is completely unrelated to the release of iOS 8. Apple does not tamper with the devices to force you to update. In fact you don't even have to update at all.   I know people still using iOs 6 because they like it.
    Personally I updated my iPad 2, an iPad Mini, and my iPhone 5 to iOS 8 and have experience none of the issues that seem to plague people.  Should i automatically assume the update is flawless?  No, but I also don't assume that Apple is causing issues to my devices remotely. That is just ludicrously ridiculous.
    The forum software here does have many issues. It also ironically enough doesn't get along with iPads very well for some reason, but Apple has nothing to do with that.  Jive, the makers of the forum software provide it to Apple and maintain it as well. If there are issues with the forum software we report them to them, and they try to fix them.
    With that said, apple sold over 10 million iPhone 6s on launch, have you seen anywhere near that many complaints about it?
    In a pool of devices that large there's bound to be issues, but its still a very very small percentage of users having any issues at all let alone device breaking ones which are even less.
    Good luck finding another Technology company that has a percentage of issues as low as Apple has in a pool of devices as large as the one Apple manages.
    As a final point, what have you tried to solve the slowness and other issues you are experiencing.  Sometimes software suffers bugs. If resetting the device has not fixed this perhaps a restore may work out.
    Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

  • Iphone 4 with ios 5 and 6 with intermittent wifi.  Sometimes I can find my networks but they don't stay and sometimes my phone cannot scan for networks

    I never had a problem with ios 4.  I add an issue with my last iphone 4, my fault.  Apple sent me a new phone with ios 5.  Worked great for a couple of weeks.  Then my wifi started dropping.  Not a huge deal.  Picked it up again.  Then it happened more frequently and the wifi dropped.  Not happy.  Then it stopped locating my home router completely.  "Could not scan for networks".  Awesome.  So I updated to ios 6.  WORSE.  Wifi greyed out.  So I found a solution (thank you) from someone on the forum to stop all running programs (home menu twice and hit x to programs on there) and shut phone off for 5 minutes.  No more grey-out wifi, but scanning still didn't work.  But then occasionally it did.  Weird.  I've tried all the 'creative' suggestions like resetting networks/ phone, router, etc.  This is not a problem with just a few phones.  I have seen several posts from people who are having this same problem.  Some say it's software; some say hardware.  I don't know what to think.  Now it's back to 'could not scan for networks'.  I've tried to change settings on my iphone and router.  I don't know how to reset my router to factory settings (Cisco), but am working on that.  Seriously though... I shouldn't have to jump through hoops here.  Apple should be bending over backwards to resolve this annoying issue.  Yet.. no word from Apple.  No timeline for this fix.  I have run the gamuet (sp?) on fixes for all kinds of wifi issues.  I feel like I've had them all short of water damage (absolutely no water has touched my phone through my cage-like case).  So.  On Monday... I may have to take my phone in to an Apple store to see if I can get a replacement.  Software/hardware/who cares.  I shouldn't have to search on here for a solution.  The answer SHOULD be easy and resolved.  I'm thoroughly annoyed.

    Verify that the user names and passwords are entered correctly.
    Restoring from backup does not seem to always restore the password for email accounts.

  • IPhone 4S no longer seeing 5 GHz Wifi signals with iOS 7

    iPhone 4S no longer sees 5 GHz wifi band.
    With iOS 6 the phone saw and connected to the 5 GHz band.
    I just updated to iOS 7 and the band is not even shown.
    The 2.4 GHz band was always seen, and now it's the only one.
    Restarting did not ameliorate the problem.
    Solutions?

    Try resetting network settings. General > Reset > Network Settings You will have to put your wifi password back in.

  • Why are there no answers to the wifi issues with iOS 7.0.4

    Why isn't Apple addressing the issues with wifi connectivity, or lack there of, with iOS 7.0.4? Everyone is complaining, but no one is answering. • WiFi problem with iOS 6 and network login screen

    Here is a detail problem description:
    Equipment: iPad 3 with iOS 6
    Environment: corporate network with a login screen that requires login every 24 hours.
    What happens: The very first time I tried to login into the network everything worked fine. The login screen showed up (as always did with iOS 5) as expected. But, the login screen does NOT come after 24 hours (when re-login is required), unless I will reboot the iPad (using the 2 buttons), or I will reset the network settings (which again does a reboot). Switching on-off the WiFi, or any other remedy does NOT work.
    The problem is not related to the network or the particular iPad or iPhone. All iPads and iPhones with iOS 5.2 or earlier work just fine. Only the ones with iOS 6 have this issue.
    I would appreciate any creative idea to resolve the issue. Thank you.

    Additional things to try.
    Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • IPhone 4s with ios 6 shows full wifi signal but can't access to the internet while other idevice can

    Hi everyone,
    I updated my iphone 4s to ios 6 a few months ago and there was no problem until I change my sim card to other carriers last two days.  This second sim card is the same sim card that I used it earlier this year with no problem.  But the problem I face is when my iphone goes to sleep mode I realised that I can't receive any push notification from imessage, Whatsapp, and Line.  When the phone is awake the wifi signal is back and I have to go to each application in order to get the message.  I have tried the following methods but it didn't work: reset all network settings, restore as new iphone, push home and power button together, switch off my iphone, turn on airplane mode, and even change my router.  At the moment I have restored my iphone as new for the 5th times.
    Now the problem is worsen, after the phone is sleep for about 5 minutes and when I awake my iphone it shows the wifi signal.  But I can't access to the internet at all.  It shows no working internet on Whatsapp. Safari can't load any web page, the weather app can't update temperature etc.  I have to switch off and switch on wifi in setting menu so that I can use the internet. And when I leave my iphone four about 5 - 10 minuetes then the problem start again. While I can't access to the internet on my iphone 4s, I used my dad's iphone 4s with ios 5.0.1 and it works just fine with the internet. My laptop can also access to the internet with the same wifi network but not my iphone.
    Does anybody know what's going on with my iphone 4s? Is it the bug from IOS 6 or my iphone is broken? Please help me.
    Thank you.

    Any update will cause problems for a few users. And those users will rush here and post "the sky is falling" stories about their experience. The 99.99% of people who have no problems after an update won't bother to post here; indeed, most of them don't even know ASC exists. FWIW, I had no problems with iOS 7 on my 4S. Your problem is most likely not related to iOS 6, but you should probably update anyway. • Wifi sync not working on iPhone 5s with iOS 8.0.2

    I have an iPhone 5s with iOS 8.0.2, and iTunes 12.0.1.26. Sync via wifi doesn't work (with one partial exception[1]). USB sync works fine, but when the phone isn't physically connected via a USB cable, iTunes doesn't know it exists. On the phone, in Settings/iTunes Wi-Fi Sync, "Sync Now" is disabled and it says "Sync will resume when '[my computer name]' is available". It's got the correct computer name.
    In the online help, I find the following claim:
    When the computer and the iOS device are on the same network, the iOS device will appear in iTunes.
    In my case, the computer and the iOS device are on the same network, and the iOS device does not appear in iTunes. I had a previous iPhone 5S which was able to sync via wifi to the same desktop computer on the same network. That one may have been iOS 7 (I can't check because it tried to learn to swim).
    The checkbox in "Summary" is checked:
    I tried unchecking it, applying, checking again, and applying again. I then restarted both iTunes and the phone.
    [1] Partial Exception: I found an "answer" on here where you turn off three different random features on the iPhone, turn them back on, reboot the iPhone and the computer, and then WiFi sync does actually works -- exactly once. Now it's disabled again. All that fussing around was enormously more hassle than just finding a USB cable; if I wanted to spend half an hour performing 10-second tasks I'd have bought another Motorola product.
    Is there a solution that works permanently, or do we just wait for a fix in a future OS revision?

    On your iPhone 4S go to Settings > Wi-Fi. Click on Wi-Fi to both disable and enable it. If you are still unable to enable this setting it may be possible that the iOS7 update did not take properly.

    Hello, lustige luka.
    Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
    The Personal Hotspot feature using USB  should be as simple as connecting the device to your Mac via the USB cable when Hotspot is enabled.  Here is some more information regarding this feature and an article that will provide some troubleshooting steps if you are experiencing an issue.

    There is no way to downgrade to a different iOS. Apple does not support downgrading. See this link regarding speeding up the iPhone 4. http://osxdaily.com/2013/09/23/ios-7-slow-speed-it-up/

    if I'm overseas, and I use iMessage not connected to wifi, and I'm messaging someone who has an iPhone as well with ios 7, will get charged SMS/mms fees?

    No, but cellular data will be used at whatever international roaming rate you carrier charges for data in whatever country.
    Exchanging iMessages requires the same thing as email - an available internet connection. SMS/MMS is completely separate from iMessage.
