When they say a process will be simple, quick and easy it really means it may or may not explode in your face!Started out on Friday simply wanting to write a new post for my site and update some old articles. Found out the php upload limit was too low for some of the server photos I wanted to add. No problem, just increase the limit right? Well no. Since the site was still in "Safe Mode" I couldn't change any of the advanced functions. The solution? Switch to Free Mode, billed as a simple process of a few clicks. Lets do this then! Clicked the deceptively easy "Switch to Free Mode" button prepared for a few clicks and getting on with my day. Filled out the information, set the flags I wanted, clicked go.....and it failed. That's fine, it went back to safe mode so I can just retry, right? Fails again. Third times the charm? Nope.At this...

Sorry, don't know what else to suggest unless there's a URL to the problem stream that someone here can try. Otherwise we can't test it to try and determine what might be wrong.
BTW, make sure they're testing it with a Mac, not with a Windows system. If they test only with Windows, what they say is or is not working doesn't mean much.

E1200 and "Quick and Easy Setup"

My parents were trying to setup their E1200 router. We had to do a reset (using the button) since we couldn't access the router admin menu (someone had hacked/changed the password). I'm doing this remotely over the phone.
Now, when they open Internet Explorer, they are getting a"Linksys Quick and Easy Setup" screen no matter what web site they try to get to. They don't have access to the original CD to install Linksys Connect. Mom says that when she clicks on "No CD? Download the software" link, nothing happens. Looks like she's got internet, though, as there's a link to the Linksys forums, and she's seeing updates from the forums."
I don't know what this screen looks like, but isn't there some way to get past this splash screen? The computer is plugged into the router via a cable, so I'm not sure why they can't access the internet manually. Is there a way to just "disable" the "Quick and Very So Not Easy Setup" and skip right to using the internet?

Hi dapupster. I suggest that you let your parents do another reset. Tell them to make sure that they press down the reset button that's underneath the device ( please check the picture). Let them press it down for 30 seconds while the device is powered on. Once done, let them unplug the unit, plug it back in and try to access the setup page manually through 192.168.1.1.
If the challenge remains the same, let them unplug the router from the modem and have them access the 192.168.1.1 page with only the computer that's connected to the router. Hope the suggestions help.

I have what is hopefully a quick and easy question. I know almost nothing about this stuff so go easy on me . All I need to do is find out if my DHCP is enabled. I'm having problems with my Xbox 360 and one of the possible problems is this DHCP thing. However I have no idea how to find the settings for my router on my computer. If it helps I have a Wirless model BEFW11S4. Thanks in advance for any help.

You need to access your router to check if the DHCP is on. To access the router open your browser and type in http://192.168.1.1 into the address field and hit enter. That should open the routers log on screen and by default the user is left blank (some routers it is admin) and the password is abmin. If you changed your routers password as you should for security reasons then use that password. That will bring you to your routers user interface and on the main set up page should be your DHCP.

Reminds me of a story a contractor to an IT department I worked in once told me.
He used to work in Silicon Valley in the '70s and told a story of a company that

and set to work. As the Tequila emptied it was replaced. At some point over
the following days or weeks a scream would be heard from the room, followed

They would replace the window, the VT100, the Tequila and wait till he came back
from "walkabout".

There are no such apps that work. Doing so would require routing the call through a 3rd party service.

Wow - Tickets Unsold for This Weekend's EVENT!

I have seen estimates of up to 20K tickets to this weekend's big EVENT in New Jersey. I cannot recall that ever happening before, but maybe it's just the reporting now? When that EVENT was held in New Orleans, or Phoenix, tickets were gone a month out.
Will be interesting to see how this shapes up, but it does appear that the weather will not be the big deal, that it could have been.

I agree it can be a useful feature in certain circumstances. The most obvious to me being the audio/video "sync" and creation of "subclip" equivalents.
I haven't tested it yet, but if you can put content from the timeline into an empty Event Browser compound clip, that could also be very useful, allowing an easier way to reuse content across projects as opposed to copy/paste from/to projects. I wonder what would happen if you paste content from a clip that is from a different Event.
I know many have asked about how they could get just the parts of the clip that they wanted and make that the clip that remained in their event browser. We know we can save segments of a clip as favorites, but they are still all in the same clip. So we cannot simply drag those segments onto the timeline.
Actually you can do this using favorites. After you have marked your favorite sections, in the Event Browser, you can just "Show Favorites" (control-F). Now all the favorite sections look like separate clips which you can individually edit into the timeline (either via keyboard or drag/drop).
I think using favorites/keywords to identify the parts you want to keep is preferable to the Open in Timeline use-blade-tool approach; even though it is non-destructive regarding the actual media on disk, it is destructive in the sense that you no longer have access to what you remove unless you re-mport it. In most cases, it is just better to hide that unwanted media rather than make it gone forever.

Adobe photoshop licensing for this product has expired, backup swatches and brushes.

when i open adobe photoshop CS3 and flash CS3 a box appears saying " licensing for this product has expired. please reinstall or contact help"
i have tried all the soutions and are at to "reinstalling" i dont have the disc or the code.
all i am worried about is getting a copy of my swatches/palates and brushes. Is there any way of saving the swatches and/or brushes?
or if i were to install the CS5 version of photoshop would it automatically convert my settings, (swatches and brushes) to the newer verison?

Quick and easy fix for linux shell script in 1.2.1.32.13

Hello, right after installing sqldeveloper in my home directory and linking the script in my bin dir I found a small problem with the shell script for linux.
I downloaded the "Multiple platforms" zip file.
here is the fix:
change "dirname $0" to "readlink -f $0 | xargs dirname"
with this fix, linking to the shell script won't cause the script to use the bin dir instead of the real directory where sqldeveloper is installed.

This symptom occur because a 64-bit process that runs on a computer that is running an x64-based version of Windows cannot load the 32-bit .dll files that are required by some program features.
You may try the following work around:
You must use the 32-bit version of Windows Explorer. The 32-bit version of Windows Explorer is located in the %windir%\Syswow64 folder on the computer that is running an x64-based version of Windows.
To use the 32-bit version of Windows Explorer, follow these steps:
Click Start, click Run, type the following in the Open box, and then click OK:
Drive_Letter:\windows\syswow64\explorer.exe /separate
Note The placeholder Drive_Letter represents the drive where the x64-based version of Windows is installed.

1. Run Acrobat Reader. In Reader, click File > Open and navigate to the folder(s) containing your PDF file(s). If necessary, move the slider to show all your PDF files.
2. Cancel out of Open and exit Reader.
3. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the folders(s) containing your PDF file(s).
4. Click Views and move the slider until you see PDF thumbnails.

1. Pre-select (highlight) the layer to move in the Layers panel. or-
2. [ALT+Right mouse click] to select the wanted layer in the image window.

Quick and easy 1 time lan file transfer [resolved sorta]

I'm looking for a painless way to transfer files from a dead windows computer (that is now running knoppix) to an arch box that with an external USB. I've looked at various howtos, and I know that there is plenty of reading material, but this is a one time deal, and I don't have time to read a bunch of manuals. I think that the best route would be rsync, but I'm not sure. This would be unnecesary if the USB drive would simply mount in Knoppix, but for whatever reason, it does not. any tips would be appreciated.

Turns out that the USB port that I had plugged the external USB drive into was bad, maybe too dirty or something. I just plugged the drive into another USB port, and it mounts just fine. Therefore I don't need to know how to do lan transfers at this very moment. However, I'll look into it, so that I will be better equipped in the future, if the need arizes.

Quick and easy qestion

Trying this post again. I'm running Win XP and using Visual Cafe for my debugging environment. I would like to update the version of Java i'm running to the newest (1.4?). Is this as simple as downloading, installing and then telling Visual Cafe where to look for the new classes etc?

No luck getting Visual Cafe to work with Java 1.4.1 here, either, at least not completely. I can compile and debug, but the Component Library won't import JavaBeans compiled under 1.4, and you can't deploy a project. The complaint it gives is "class file has wrong version 48.0, should be 47.0". Do these numbers mean anything to anyone? Knowing what they are might help me come up with a workaround.
It sure sucks to drop $1K on a product and a year later it's worthless.

Block Skype Ads Quick and Easy

Hi everyone, I was trying to find a way to block all these annoying ads that the new Skype has introdused.  There where a couple of ways to actually achieve this but most of them where not working after Skype was updating. Below is the way that works regardless the Skype version as it 'hits' directly in the source, the ads themselfes.  1 Press Windows+R and type C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts   OR 1. Navigate to the folder C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ , right click on the hosts file and hit Open (or edit with Notepad++ if you have it)2. Select Notepad or any other text editor you prefer
2. Add at the bottom of the file the lines below: # Skype Ads Blocker
127.0.0.1 rad.msn.com
127.0.0.1 live.rads.msn.com
127.0.0.1 ads1.msn.com
127.0.0.1 static.2mdn.net
127.0.0.1 g.msn.com
127.0.0.1 a.ads2.msads.net
127.0.0.1 b.ads2.msads.net
127.0.0.1 ac3.msn.com# End Skype Ads Blocker
3. Save and restart your Skype app.
What you are basically doing is blocking the servers that Skype is pulling the ads from.  If you have any problems after applying this fix or you want to see these beatifull ads again (you must be drunk to do so! ) simply remove the lines you've added in the host file. Hope this helps someone. PS1: Tested to version 6.16+PS2: This should not breach the Terms and Conditions/User Agreement with Skype as you are NOT manipulating or editing Skype itself. You are simply blocking traffic from some specific servers ( just mentioning in case we have people starting a catastrophe reply marathon )

In Windows Explorer you can click on the address bar and enter the path to that folder manually:C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc Note that you might need to edit the host file using admin rights. And btw: If you don't mind losing your "Skype Home" than one line is sufficient:127.0.0.1    apps.skype.com
