Letter of Volatility - VXI-PCI8026

Hello,
I work in a secured area and we recently purchased 2ea of the VXI-PCI8026.  Can someone direct me to a Letter of Volatility for the EEPROM on the VXI-MXI-2 and PCI-MXI-2 module/board?  Also, what exactly is the size of the EEPROM, I couldn't find this mentioned anywhere in the manual.
Thanks,
- Darin

  • VXI-1000 Letter of Volatility

I'm trying to locate a Letter of Volatility for the VXI-1000 Mainframe, but haven't had any luck searching the web site.  I tried to submit a support request but don't have a membership number to do so.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

    Hello mdbeer,
The VXI-1000 main frame was End of Life (EOL) in approximately 1997 and thus the documentation such as the Letter of Volatility is unavailable. I apologize for the inconvenience.

  • Letter of Volatility for PXI-8108?

Is there a Letter of Volatility Available for the PXI-8108 describing volatile and non-volatile memory

To anyone interested in getting a Letter of Volatility (LOV):
We have started posting LOVs on some product pages of our website in the resources section, so it is worth checking there before contacting us. In many cases, as it was in this one, we have not made the LOV publicly accessible at this time.
In that case, the most efficient way to get LOVs is to contact our support engineers by calling 866-ASK-MYNI (275-6964). They will be able to talk to you about your need for the document and speak with our internal resources to get that to you fairly quickly.

  • Letter of Volatility

Please provide me with a Letter of Volatility for the Motion Control Boards PCI-7344 and PCI-7354. I would also appreciate one for the Video Capture Board PCI-1409. A declassification procedure for each of these boards would also meet my requirements. Thanks.

I don't believe there is a price for the letter, but I could be wrong. The best way to proceed with this, if you call us at 1-866-ASK-MYNI (1-866-275-6964) and create a service request, or I can pull your information and send you this information myself if you give me permission to access your information for that purpose.

  • Letter of volatility for PXI-2568

    Hi,
I woud like to find a letter of volatility for PXI-2568; it is a relay module with, what it appears to me, some logic circuitry on the output. I have searched both the forums and NI's main website without any luck. Can someone here provide the documentation needed? I would very much appreciate it.

  • Letter of volatility for PXIe-1071

I'm looking for a Letter (certificate) of Volatility for the following, please:
    PXIe-1071
    PXIe-8135
    PXIe-8234

    Hey,
This is the type of request that would be better suited for an official service request via our support system. Since there was a nearly identical request submitted recently, I am going to assume that it pertains to the same incident and handle it via that channel.

  • Volatility letter for VXIpc-872B?

To satisfy our security requirements, I need a volatility letter covering the VXIpc-872B controller (or, more generally, the VXIpc-870 series of controllers), but I couldn't find one on the NI web site. Can someone send me one?
Also: By reviewing the user manual I've already identified at least two types of nonvolatile memory in the controller -- battery-backed CMOS for BIOS settings (and more?), and an EEPROM, half of which is user-accessible. The manual provides a procedure for erasing the battery-backed CMOS, but I didn't see one for the EEPROM; does such a procedure exist, at least for the user-accessible half?

  • PXI-2599 Declassification/Sanitization

I am going to be using a PXI-2599 switch card in a system with data sanitization requirements.  I have a letter of volatility listing memory and sanitization requirements, and it says that a low-level utility is required to sanitize PROM on the board.  Where would I be able to find this utility, or specifications on how to write one?

    Hello,
This utility is currently under development by R&D.
However, something to note is that this utility has never been provided to a customer. The only way to write to the memory of the card is through a low level program owned by NI R&D and this program has not been shared. The only things that are stored on the memory of this card are the serial number, the module identity, and relay count information. An attempt to write application specific information to this memory component without knowing what you are doing would most likely corrupt the board and would not be wise to do. Let me know if you feel that you still need this utility.

  • How can i use NI's VXI-1394 controller to control the CONDOR's VXI-1553B module?

Now I want to use the NI's VXI-1394 to control a CONDOR's VXI-1553B module. But I did a test and found that the NI's VXI-1394 can not control that module. The VXI-PCI8015 can control the VXI-1553B module.
    But I have a VXI-1394 module and I want to use that to control the CONDOR's VXI-1553B module.How can I do that?Give me a hand,please.

    Hello Lincoln,
Judging by the fact that you mention the VXIpc-8015, I am deducing that you are using the VXI-MXI-2 card under Windows NT. Is that correct?
Under Windows NT, the VXI-MXI-2 board and the VXI-1394 need to use different versions of the NI-VXI driver.
The VXI-PC-8015 (MXI-2) should be using NI-VXI v3.2, while the VXI-1394 needs to use a special version of the driver (v2.1.1) because Windows NT does not natively support the IEEE 1394 protocol.
The issue may simply be the wrong driver, but if it is not, we will need to know more information about your system.
1a. What version of NI-VXI are you using with the VXI-1394
1b. What version of NI-VXI are you using with the VXI-MXI-2)
    2. What OS are you running?
    3. How are you attempting to communi
    cate with the CONDOR device?
4a. What configuration utility are you attempting to use with the VXI-1394
4b. What configuration utility are you attempting to use with the VXI-MXI-2
    5. Is the CONDOR device register based or message based VXI device?
    6. Have you used NI-Spy? If so, can you generate NI-Spy logs that might help debug this issue? There is a quick tutorial on NI-Spy here.
Start with these steps, and let us know how it goes. Thank you!

  • How to measure a VXI board's thermal / air flow performance?

I am looking for information on requirements and testing procedures as they relate to the VXI bus and cooling. Specifically, I would like to make some temperature measurements on some VXI cards to see if the increase in airflow temperature (temperatuer of exhaust minus temperature of intake) is within 10 degrees C.
Quite a few documents reference a document called VXI-8 (Cooling Characterization Methodology Specification). I have not been able to locate this document. Would you happen to have it?
Also, any information you can provide on the best procedures for measuring temperature drop, pressure drop, air flow, etc. across a VXI card would be much appreciated.
    Thank you.

Thanks. But the document didn't really answer my question. Perhaps an example would be better.
The NI VXIpc-872B embedded controller, for example, has an ambient operating range of 5 to 50 °C. What exactly does this mean?
If you were performing a test to determine if the temperature of the VXI card is being exceeded, how would you do it?
Let's say you installed the controller in a VXI chassis (with integral cooling fan), put the chassis+card in an environmental chamber, and turned the unit on. One thermocouple measures the temperature entering the card (at the bottom), while another thermocouple measures the air temperature exiting the card (at the top). The chamber temperature's setpoint can be varied up and down.
In this example, would the intake air temperature (i.e. air temperature entering the bottom of the card) have to be less than 50 °C? Or would the exhaust air temperature (i.e. air temperature exiting the top of the card) have to be less than 50 °C? Or does it mean the surface temperature of any component on the board must be less than 50 °C?
    Thanks,
    Michael

I am not sure what I should try next. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Howdy Greg,
I've been researching your issue extensively over the past day and unfortunately
found your Fedora distribution has not been officially tested and verified for
functionality (assuming you're using a MXI 2, check out the VIX for Linux page).  That
being said, I was able to find some other Discussion Forum posts dealing with
hacking VXI to work on Fedora.  I know you said you read up on this, but I
wanted to post them anyways just in case.

  • Can Someone give me the file "VXI Send Message.vi"

I'm trying to use Tektronix CDS 73a-453 in a VXI Module. But to run the basic VIs for it provided by the manufacturer, I need the following four files.
    VXI Send Message.vi
    VXI Receive Message.vi
    Open VXI Instrument.vi
    Close VXI Instrument.vi
If you have these VIs in your version of LabVIEW, then please give me. Thanks a lot.
My e-mail ID is [email protected]

Have you installed NI-VXI on your machine? You can download it here. I could send you the VIs, but without the driver (NI-VXI) installed, the VIs won't do you much good, because they will try to reference the driver. Let me know if you run into problems downloading the driver.

  • 'Error 1605 occurred while installing NI-PAL 1.6.1f0 engine' installing NI-VXI.

When installing NI-VXI software I get the error 'Error 1605 occurred while installing NI-PAL 1.6.1f0 engine'.  I uninstalled everything and then copied the installation files to my hard drive but the error still occurs.  This seems to prevent Windows from installing the driver for my MXI card.  Any ideas of what is going wrong?

    Hey AIM-USA,
Something you may test to see is if the VXI driver may be corrupt, what you could do to test it is download NI-VXI version 3.3.1. This should check if it's the driver, or the system. Something you may also try, is to download another driver that will install NI-PAL. I think the VISA driver may install it. It's a relatively small driver, and you may give this a try to see if it can setup Measurement and Automation Explorer for you. This is where you can find the latest NI-VISA driver.
Can you let me know if these help?
    Regards,
    Nick D.
