Letting iPhone4 die before charging it full first time out of box?

Hello!
I just got my second iPhone4 (the first one I had for 6 days but it had some connection issues so I exchanged it) and I was told by the Sales Associate at the cell provider where I purchased it from that I need to let it die completely (power itself off) and then charge it in full (and not touch it while it charges) the first time to "train the battery".
I've been reading similar threads about initial charges but nothing really answers my question.
I've had this phone for about 3 hours and my battery is currently at 18%.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

So there's really no need to run through an entire cycle right now?
Thanks very much, I was a little unsure of why he said that, especially because I've heard iPhone batteries (I just switched to an iPhone from a Blackberrry) don't need to be "trained".

For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, it’s important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. Be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).

  • Do I need to let my iPad's battery run all the way down before charging it the first time I use it?

I bought a new iPad mini and was wondering if I need to let the battery run down to the point where it shuts off on its own before charging it for the first time. I know the battery degenerates on its own over time, but I'm trying to get the most out of my battery so any help you can give would be much appreciated.
    Thanks for your help.

No. Just use your iPad and don't obsess about its battery. It will last for years.

  • After the initial "recharging" of my Iphone 5, is it once again necessary to allow the battery to fully die before charging?

After the inital die/recharge of my Iphone 5, is it necessary to, once again, allow the battery to completely die before charging? Or, can I just recharge it when the battery gets low?

You can recharge your phone whenever you want. The lithium ion battery (not just apples) have a certin amount of charge cycles like any other lithium battery. A charge cycle is a complete 0%-100%. So sticking it on the charger everytime at night doesn't count as a charge cycle. If your batter is at 80% then you charge it to 100% that is 20% of a charge cycle. Its a little confusing, but I learned it with doing a lot of asking and research. Don't worry, just charge your phone when you need to and you'll be fine.
Its recommended to do a full charge from 0%-100% once a month to calibrate the battery meter.

  • HT1349 Hello,I want to ask you,how long may the ipad2 charge at the first time?Thank you for your answer.

Hello,I want to ask you that how long may the ipad2 charge at the first time? Thank you

The quickest way to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter. When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes.
     Cheers, Tom

  • I just connected my iphone4 to my macbook for the first time and it resored it to the previous settings from my old iphone.  Is there a way to reverse this???!!

Hey folks, I just connected my iphone4 to my macbook for the first time and it restord it to the previosu settings from my old iphone? Is there a way to reverse this??!!!

If you want it to go back to essentially Out of Box Factory Settings then you will want to just select the 'Restore' option from the Summary Screen within iTunes. You will be prompted to Restore from Backup or Restore as New, in this case you will want to restore as new.
If you have previous settings you will need to see if they were backed up correctly before syncing, you can check this in Preferences -> Devices -> Backups and look at the list of backups to see if one coincides with your iPhone 4. If not, then there will be no settings to restore to other than the previously connected iPhone or back to Factory settings.

  • Re: Charging for the first time - I have not connected yet to my Itunes, so can I just go ahead and plug it into an outlet and charge?

Can I charge my new Ipad for first time but just connecting it to a wall outlet, even though I have not yet registered it on my ITunes account?  If so, how long will it take for a complete charge?
    Thanks

Yes but it's not necessary to fully charge it the first time.

please i need help, im worried that if I connect my ipod here, it will burn or sometihng bad.

Just connect it to a computer's USB port.
Most wall chargers are dual voltage (110- 220 volts) and only require a plug adopter. Check the wall charger to see if yours is.

  • I recently got an extension cord for my ipad charger and the first time I used it it worked and now when I plug it in to my ipad It doesn't do anything. What do I do?

I think that we all understood what you meant. If the extension cord is no longer working, then return it.
We are all trying to tell you that you can plug the power block into a standard household extension cord - using the short cord that came with the iPad - and there is no need for the extension cord that you bought.

just recently bought this computer Toshiba Satellite series L650D and was wondering how long do i leave it on charge for the first time on power????

    Hello
If the battery is fully charged, the battery LED will switch the color. Depending on your notebook it will switch from orange to white for example. After this the battery is fully charged.
The charging time is also depending on the battery, AC/DC adaptor and if the notebook is truned on or off. So nobody can exactly say how long it takes but the battery LED will it show you. :)

There is no problem about using one ID for iTunes, iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match, and another for iCloud and its email and syncing facilities. This way you can all use the same iTunes account but have separate emails and calendars etc.
