Level 2 Tabs - Buggy or is it just me?

I'm on 1.6. I've been trying to successfully create a 2 level tab application. I am using the default "Business Look" template although I've tried switching themes to try and get this to work to no avail. Even though I set the application default page template to 2 tabs it does not appear to take and I have to manually go into pages for it to kick in and if I'm lucky it works. I've struggled when creating a page in that the parent tabs I've defined are not in the drop down list of available parent tabs. Parent tabs are electing not to appear even though I have no conditions. Should I just avoid 2 tier tabs like the plague or am I missing something?

I struggled with this for awhile as well... 
Try adding a generic "Home" child tab for the parent tab. That's why they aren't showing up in the dropdown. It's hierarchical and needs that child tab.

Level 1 tab displayed just as text

I have a problem with 2 level tabs. I have set it up and the setup seems to logically work as the navigation of clicking on different tabs works.
However, The level one tabs does not show up as template based tabs, but rather just as plain text placed to the far right in the top of the pages. Is this a known problem with a known resolution or have I managed to create a unique problem?
All I need is to get the level 1 tabs to be formatted to look like they are part of the theme. I'm currently using "simple red", but I have tried other ones too with the same result.

My first APEX application is running two-level tabs with Lists as the third level of navigation. I only offered the other method since many struggle with two-level tabs and it's quirky behavior at times. I hope using Theme 13 and got you moving forward again.

Two level of tabs

Is there any limitation on the number of parent tabs allowed for an application ? The application I am working on will have about 7 parent tabs.
If I create the application from scratch(with 6 pages initially) and select "Two level of tabs", by default I am prompted for just 4 parent tabs and if I create a new one manually then no parent tabs appear for my page . I have the application created on htmldb.oracle.com, please let me know if someone wants to look at what I am talking about.

The app id is 23947(Two level tabs) and the workspace is S1.
The first 4 parent tabs work as they should
Parent Tab "Home" has one standard tab -> Page 1
Parent Tab "Students" has two standard tab -> Page 2 & 3
Parent Tab "Payments" has one standard tab -> Page 4
Parent Tab "Scholarship" has one standard tab -> Page 5
Parent Tab "Funds" is the one I created and should be associated with Page 6, but it goes to Page 1 and all the parent tabs disappear.
I created the new parent tab using the Tab Manager.

in sales order item level billing tab you have nine fields for payment terms
i want to know from where is the payment terms coming in the fields , i have checked that whatever payment term is there in SP/SH/PY they are not getting updated in the nine fields

Payment terms are coming from Customer Master on Sales order , I did checked by removing the payment terms from customer master and created the sales order were it has not defaulted. Updated the Customer Master with Payment Terms and created the sales order now Payment terms got defaulted.

Two level of tabs - only 1 level shows up

I have an application, previously set up without using tabs, but I added two level of tabs. It looks like everything is fine, but only the standard tabs are on the pages, not the parents.
Invionment: Apex 4.1, Oracle 10gR2 on Windows 32 bit
This is what I've done:
- set the page component default in the theme (26) to 'Two level of tabs, no sidebar'
- I have a parent tab set ('PTS1')
- I have 4 parent tabs: PTAB1, PTAB2, PTAB3, PTAB4. All parent tabs have one or more tabs under it and the tab target is the right page.
- all the tabs have the 'standard tab set' set right, ie PTAB1. All tabs are in parent tab set 'PTS1'
- alle the pages have page template 'use theme default'. I also tried setting it explicitly to one of the templates with two level of tabs, but with the same result.
When I open a certain page, I only see the tabs, I don't see the parent tabs! Is there something I forgot to configure?

Ok first go to shared components > Tabs. Select your parent tab set.
Go to manage tabs. Does every parent tab got at least one subtab? Do they all refer to pages?
If that's ok go to edit standard tabs and check out the right column. Do all tabs there have a parent tab set? If they don't then edit those that don't have one.
If that did not solve it go to "Tabs".
Select your parent tab set PTS1. Check if all your parent tabs are viewable.
If they aren't then you created your parent tabs under different tab sets and you need to delete those that aren't on the right one.
I hope you can find a solution here somewhere.

Wrong Gross Weight for Material in Sales Order at Item Level (Shipping Tab)

Dear All,
Except MMR, where we maintain gross weight for material?
Or, from where Gross weight gets detrmined in Sales Order at item level (Shipping Tab)?
Details,
I've 2 Materials in Sales Order, Mat1 and Mat2.
In both the MMRs, Gross weight is 1.080 Kg
In sales Order Mat1 has Qty 18,000 Kg and gross weight is 19,440 Kg --> which is right.
Mat2 has Qty 2,160 Kg and gross weight is 2,332,800 Kg --> which is wrong.
I tried with maintaing another line item with Mat2 in Sales Order, for which again wrong gross weight is calculated.
I also tried with creating another Sales Order with Mat2, and again the same problem.

everything is maintained correctly.
What I have noticed is:
Instead of obtaining Gross weight as 1.080 (which is maintained), somehow system is picking 1,080 (don't know why and from where)?

Bug? - 2 levels of tabs

If you create a page in Portal 3.0 Production release with 2 levels of tabs it seemes like the development guys didn't finish their job.
1. Make a tab-region
2. Highlighte any of the tabs and make a tabregion below.
The 2 level (line) of tabs is completely messed up (compared to the early adapter version) and a fixed colored bitmap file (subtab.gif?) is inserted between what was surposed to be the new tabs. If you are using customized colors of the active and inactive tabs it's even worse.
Has anyone some suggestion of a work-around (I have tried with bitmaps as tabs - but it still looks very wrong) or when it will be corrected?

As described below, I created a main page with first level of
tabs. Then I create a second page with other tabs and it was
published as Portlets. Into this tabs I added some Portlets.
Then I added the second page into one tab of the main page as
portlet, so I have the tabs of the second page as subtab of the
first tab of the main page.
I can navigate fine between tab and subtabs but I can not see
the portlets into the subtab ?!

I had two level of tabs setup, and i managed to delete them oops... now i have all of my pages but i can't seem to link all of them to have two level of tabs, i have setup two parent tabs but when i try to add pages to them they only seem to show up one level. Is there any documentation on tabs

My Mac crashed today for the first time in the seven years I have owned it. I was working in Photoshop. It had been getting slower and slower in Photoshop. Now I can't start the computer at all. You may have had a hard drive failure. Have you been hearing any unusual sounds? Have you been getting messages about a full hard drive?
Will it boot in Safe Mode? See What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? (Mac OS X)

Top-Level Navigation Tab Image

In the top-level navigation it allows you to assign background colors for the tab colors when selected or not selected. However, you can reference an image with a unique path in this field. So when the top-level navigation renders it displays an image, gradient for example instead of a background color. I did this a while back but cannot locate this information. If someone has done this before and can provide this information that would be great.

I just tested it, and did not manage to make it work.
I am in the Portal Outer Frame > Top-Level Navigation > Unselected Tabs of First Level > Background Color of Unselected Tabs
and this is the value I use :

Am I missing something ? Do I have to create a par file for this ?

Break at row level cross tab

Hi,
Can we apply a break at row level. Supposing the country is column, months are row wise in cross tab and revenue is the intersection and the requirement is to put break after 3 months.

Safari 5.1.9 problems in OSX10.6.8 (won't open pages/tabs-buggy)

My rig:
OSX 10.6.8
iMac Late 2006 Intel Core 2 Duo 4Gb RAM
Safari 5.1.9
I have two tabs that are working ok: facebook & Gmail, but Safari fails to open new tabs.
When I try to open other sites in a new tab, I get the "safari can't open the page because it can't connect to the server" error.
The internet is working ok as Firefox is fine.
I've updated the security patches for Snow Leopard.
I've done the Java updates.
I've also tried re-installing Safari via download from Apple.
I've run Disk Utility to repair the disk (does it actually do anything?)
I've tried repaired permissions via Onyx & Disk Utility.
All I want is a reliable browser!
Is this Apple's twisted way to get people to update from Snow Leopard and/or buy a new iMacs??
I tried Chrome & its a piece of crap - so slow & buggy!!
Firefox is ok atm but it does crash ocassionally (that's why I ditched it some time ago).
I went back to Safari (my previous default browser) & maybe it was a bad move!?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
I managed to solve the issue by stumbling across a thread on FineTunedMac.
I was actually about to close the tab then glanced at it.
In the end the problem was with Little Snitch 2.3.6.
Somehow it had blocked any connection on port 80 & once I deleted that the world was good again.
Strange!!

I've checked my extensions & they're set up to auto update in preferences, so I assume they should be ok.

Love App Tabs but have several that just show a white page as icon how do I get them to appear as a site logo?

I love the new App Tabs but have several that when pinned just show a white page as the icon, so you have to mouse over them to figure out which one is which. Example is bankdirect.co.nz. Is there a way of getting the site logo to show up so you can see what is what at a glance but still have the nifty space saving size of the App Tab? Thanks!

Thanks for that. I have to say that there were a couple of screens that appeared to show both the iPhone and iPad and it was the iPad that was showing the icon!
It is not life threatening, I just thought that something had not installed as it should have.

I can't organize my tabs, when I click and drag on a tab to move it, it just stays in it original place

I have more than one tab open, and I can usually move them around and organize them freely. But a couple of days ago when I tried to move them they just get stuck and stay in the spot it was put in when i created the new tab. I didn't download or change anything. this just started happening when I opened my browser a couple days ago.

Did you try to close and restart Firefox/
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
