Level of moderation in SDN

From the last few days i think the level of moderation in SDN is decreased. Report abuse button with comments like cross postings, wrong forums, failed to search properly, very basic questions is not working. i think some moderators are busy and some other are influenced by the recent thread by one member questioning a moderator about the comments. The rules of Engagement is not changed but the moderation level is decreased. the good thing is some of the moderators(new to me) are actively participating in forums but some very known are not actively moderating. is there any desicion taken in Moderators forum regarding the moderation in SDN.Test and play ground forum is becoming very active but more of those threads coming from only few categories. all these are my opinions and so i have a question in my mind
Is the level of moderation in SDN decreased?
Regards
Mahesh

Well, I've been doing quite a bit. But I think I have noticed that the number of abuse reports has gone down over the last few days. ( btw - in the last 7 days 222 posts have been rejected, so there is some moderation going on ).
In your area (Portal), there were 30 rejections in the last 30 days. And 109 in the last 90. So in those terms, there hasn't really been a change.
What kind of things are you noticing?

  • How to become a Moderator in SDN Forums

    Hello All,
When does one qualify to become a moderator in SDN Forums?
    Thanks,
    Jignesh

This thread has so many topics, I'll need to try to be very specific about which of these threads inside of threads I'm addressing.
Let me start with the problem of "inactive" moderators which Ravi particularly highlights.
Gali (and in the past Craig) kept a list of over 650 moderators for the various topics.  Moderators for the most part were SAP employees but about 50 of the 650 folks moderating were non-SAP folks who by merit of their active contributions or by nomination from an SAP employee or nomination by other members of the forum in a particular topic were asked to be a moderator.  Moderators submitted a request form and were accredited by topic experts or other SAP contributors.
In the case of SD for example, 2 of the four names I see on the list are from SAP's support group and are employees.  If they are "outdated" or inactive, Gali will need to ascertain that with her ERP resource and they should be removed or prodded into activity and/or replaced.
As you  can well imagine, keeping track of 650 or more moderators to ensure their "activity" is a pretty daunting task and it is through your comments and suggestions about their levels of activity that we can quality check as we are not subject experts in your individual forum areas: you are.
One another theme here, I agree with those that posted (albeit with a bit of sarcastic humor) that the role of moderator is not so much an acknowledgement and recognition of talents but a challenging chore.  And we certainly salute those who enter the coliseum (you know like the gladiators) to fight the good fight of keeping things useful and clean here.
Now if that chore negatively impacts good contribution abilities of the same gladiators, that really should be examined.  But I also see a very positive outcome of stepping aside to moderate and contribute less directly and that is that a number of those moderators are actively helping to create new "stars" by encouraging and highlighting and promoting the good activity of others.  In other words, they help create new "top topic contributors".  And if they aren't doing that, they should be because moderation isn't just about policing; its also about encouraging others.

    Hi,
how can i display an image in the top level navigation?
(looks like the top level navigation of the SDN)
    Thanks,

    Hello Norman,
Please read through these forum links which also deal with customization of Portal 'Top Level Navigation'.
Basically you need to download the required masthead.par and make the necessary changes as mentioned in the forum messages as belwo:
    [Customizing Top Level Navigation|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=511530]

  • OBIEE forum moderation

    Hi,
How does one go about becoming a moderator?
The OBIEE forum (Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition is in dire need of moderators, suffering from poor questions but even worse, terrible answers. It has become an echo chamber of mediocrity, with points being awarded by people who don't know any better. The result is posters with "guru" status dispensing awful advice and at times, plain wrong advice.
I and several others in the OBIEE world would like to help restore the forum to the level that it should be, to help cut down the poor quality answers, and as a net result improve the OBIEE online community overall. I have seen other forums on OTN that are of very high quality, such as the TimesTen one, and there is no reason why the OBIEE one couldn't be the same, with a bit of TLC and the odd pointy stick.
    thanks.

In general the moderators have been asked to do the job by the OTN admin. How we were selected... I'm not sure, I guess they just liked our virtual faces. :D
The forums will soon be getting an upgrade, and I know the admin are looking to review who's who and how many moderators they have etc. (I believe there should be people within Oracle itself who are responsible for some level of moderation of the various forums, so perhaps they'll be getting a kick).
I'll certainly highlight your request to the admin so they can take on board what you've said.

  • Open item issue and clear item issue in fbl3n

    Hi Guys,
relating to Line items are not showing as cleared items and showing as in Open line items of G/L account.
Find the below observations for your reference.
The Document no. 920006532 in Company code 1010 ( IRN ) is shown in the open items list for GL account 292351 but also shown as cleared by Doc. No. 402020795 in the system. But while reviewing the cleared items in FBL3N the items of Doc. No. 402020795 are cleared for Doc No. 909000663 & 909000717 and not for the Doc. No. 920006532. That is the main reason the document line items are shown as open.
    Please guide deleted

Moderator: The SDN community would appreciate if you omit word 'immediately' in your requests

    1. Only Balances in Local Currency:
Indicates that balances are updated only in local currency when users post items to this account.
Use: You would set this indicator for accounts in which you do not want the system to update transaction figures separately by currency.
It is required to set theis indicator in:
    1.  cash discount clearing accounts
    2. GR/IR clearing accounts.
It cannot be set in reconciliation accounts for customers or vendors. Setting it in all other instances is optional.
    Open item management:
Determines that open items are managed for this account.
Explanation: Items posted to accounts managed on an open item basis are marked as open or cleared. The balance of these accounts is always equal to the balance of the open items.
Procedure: Set up accounts with open item management if offsetting entries are to be assigned to the postings made to these accounts. Postings to these accounts represent incomplete transactions.
    USE:
A goods receipt/invoice receipt (GR/IR) clearing account should be managed on an open item basis so that you can check at any time whether invoices have been received for the goods received for an order.
Set up accounts without open item management if no offsetting entry is to be made against a posting to this account.
Accounts that are managed on an open item basis include:
    Clearing accounts:
    Bank clearing account
    Payroll clearing account
    Cash discount clearing account
    GR/IR clearing account
Accounts that are not managed on an open item basis:
    Bank accounts
    Tax accounts
    Raw material accounts
    Reconciliation accounts
Hope this is helpful. Pleas assign points if it is.

  • Clearing Non Open Item Managed documents

    Hello,
we have an existing G/L account where it was previously set to non open item managed. after some time, they have switched it to OI managed. since the balance of this account is 0, they were able to switch it successfully.
problem is, during FBL3n, these documents (that were posted when the account is still non open item managed) is listed in the open items. can this items be "cleared"?
    thanks
Moderator: Search SDN and certainly don't post threads, which were locked before, under different names. This is violation of SDN rules

    HI,
When u have created the GL and if you have not activate or deactivate the OPEN ITEM mmanagement.
You have to use the follow  SAP std progrom. ther are four std program SAP has provide for this these
    RFSEPA01
    RFSEPA02
    RFSEPA03
    RFSEPA04
you have to check the documentation of the program to know which one u have to used here for your case .
hope this is clear assign the points.

  • SSL setup in PI 7.1

    Hi,
I used NWA to create secure store, CSR and imported the CSR response. Its working fine on the CI. I added a dialog instance and want to include that server (instance) into SSL. I exported my certificate from the CI and imported into DI (NWA-Key storage). However I could not access PI tools with just the java stack of DI running. So I am not sure if there is a missing step. Also in STRUST under Client PSE where I have both instances listed, the DI is showing RED. The CI is green. I have the root certificates imported into it to access other systems (ECC etc) using https.
I did not use STRUST at all to create server PSEs as with 7.1 we would have to use either NWA or STRUST and maintain the using the same tool.
Your help/suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
You need to setup SSL layer for HTTPS endpoint.
Possible HTTP security levels are (in ascending order):
    HTTP without SSL
HTTP with SSL (= HTTPS), but without client authentication
HTTP with SSL (= HTTPS) and with client authentication
HTTPS comes in two flavors, both ensuring the confidentiality of data sent over the network

For both of this basis team has to deploy the releavant certificates in XI ABAP Stack or Java stack.

  • HTTPS configuration for SOAP adapter

    Hi,
We have a requirement where we need to send the request to the target URL with https protocol.
We have raised a request to configure the XI server for HTTPS.
HTTPS has been configured on both ABAP stack and J2EE stack.

For this do we need to do any setting changes on the XI server after the configuration?

  • SSL in SOAP Adapter

    Hi All,
I am working on the Receiver SOAP Adapter. Here i need to use SSL. Can any Please explain the use of SSL and How to configure the SSL and HTTPS.
    Thanks
    Karthik.

    Hi,
I have configured successflly SSL with SOAP adapter.  Follow below steps
    1.  First we need to deplay SAP crypto graphic libry for HTTPS protoco.  This library available in service market place, depneding on operating system we need to choose version. Once you deploy library to Pi automatically HTTPS protocol will be active.
    2. After that need to link HTTPS protocol with specific port.  SAP have standad port for HTTPS protoco through Tcode SMICM, check with your bsis  team.

  • Is Web service security available?

    Dear Experts,
In RWB, when i click on Integration Engine(in component monitoring) i get a yellow triangle next to it instead of green. Result of self test says that
    Is Web service security available?
"Communication error Proxy calls are not permitted on sender or receiver side on the IS (client)".
Can u guys tell me the reason behing this.
    Thanks & regards.

    Hi,
Check if you have selected any security level for the WebService or may be it is across the firewall. Probably you need to install the related certificates and have to configure the SSL layer.
    refer
You need to setup SSL layer for HTTPS endpoint.
Possible HTTP security levels are (in ascending order):
    HTTP without SSL
HTTP with SSL (= HTTPS), but without client authentication
HTTP with SSL (= HTTPS) and with client authentication
Use transaction STRUST to set up an SAP Web AS ABAP engine as HTTPS server. If not already done, you have to import a certificate generated by a trusted CA identifying the SAP Web AS. In addition, you have to enable the HTTPS port in the ICM (Internet Communication Manager).

  • Configuring a RFC SSL

    Hi there
Does anyone know if there is a step by step for setting up a SSL client and configuring the SSL for an RFC? I suppose it's on the basis side of things which Iu2019m not to keen on.  I did some research on it and there is a Trust Manager it should be done with? But cannot find anything on what the Trust Manager is and how to get to itu2026
    Thanx, Jan
