Leveling or similar technique for multiple voices

I'm new to GarageBand and trying to find a simple technique to level 3 voices recorded in a round table discussion with a single microphone (Blue Snowball). I prefer not to go out to another application if I can avoid it and would rather apply the right combination of GarageBand effects. Any advice on the most effective ones and/or sequence? Thanks.

It's far more important to get your recording levels right than to apply any effects. Three people with one mic is not a perfect situation! I think the snowball has two settings, set it to "omnidirectional" so you pick up sound from around the table. Make sure that your three guys aren't too far away from the mic, even if that makes for an awkward seating position. And as for effects: with speech, you really want to get the audio as faithful as possible, so you don't want to apply a lot of effects (unless you want to improve a bad recording). Just start with one of the basic speech presets and play around with it.

    Thank you for posting this to the discussion forums and for uploading some sample code.  I took a lok at the issue you have been having, and it is unclear to me as to why you have placed two for loops around the original while loop.  My understanding is that you want to use the original Sample.vi and want to execute this N times where N is the Max Freq divided by Interval so that you can scan for a range of frequencies.
    Why not just put Sample.vi around one for loop and use the increment counter scaled by the interval to count up towards Max Freq and insert the desired Frequency into the cluster using Bundle By Name?

  • Using SUM BY or MAX BY for multiple levels

    I was wondering if anyone knows if you can use the SUM BY for multiple levels e.g.
    I am using the following at the moment: SUM("Fact.Value" BY Dimension.Level1), but I also want to sum the value by a different level, so adding a second 'BY' level.
    I can't seem to figure if its possible. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Managing Voice Mailboxes for Multiple Sites

    I'd like some help coming up with a solution for a problem we are having. We have 15 small branch offices that sometimes need to close due to the weather and they need to have an alternative voicemail greeting set when this happens. In certain situations, a small group of people at our main site need to record the messages for all 15 sites. One option would be to let this group have the PIN for each voice mailbox, but ideally they would be able to record one message and upload it to each of the 15 mailboxes through the Unity web interface OR have a way to forward each of the main extensions to an alternative voice mailbox that is only used for weather closings. I can't find a way to do either.
    Is there a way to make an admin account in Unity Connection that can only administer certain mailboxes?
    Is there a way to set up a forward using CUCM's user portal to a different Unity voice mailbox that has a weather announcement on it?
    If neither of these are possible is there a good alternative?
    We are using CUCM 9.1.1.20000-5 and Unity Connection 9.1.1.20000-32 with Active Directory authentication.

    You can create a CTI route point that sends every call to a Unity Connection Call Handler, this Call Handler can plays the greeting and then send the caller to a voicemail or simply hang up the call.
    So your remote branch offices can forward all the calls to the CTI Route Point DN, from the IP phones or from the ccmuser web page.
    Also the CUCM admin would be able to forward the calls if the remote branch user forgot to do it.

    Have been scouring the system looking for a report which displays production order variance information for multiple production orders.
    The best way to describe what we need is KKBC_ORD but with the option to select multiple production orders or a range.
    This transaction gives us exactly the results we want, but we have a long list of orders to analyse and to be able to get a list of them all rather than have to go into each individually would be fantastic.
    Do you think we're looking at a custom development here ?

    IN these situations, I have sometimes written a "wrapper" program, with a Z version of the transaction....Get the list of documents via user input to your selection options, then loop at that pick list and do a call transaction for each document.

  • Techniques for New Product Introduction in Demantra 7.3.0.1

    In Demantra 7.3.0.1 there are two ways for New Product Introduction:-
    1) Demand Planner: Member & chaining management
    2) Collaborative Workbench: Create Similar product
    Can someone please tell me the pros and cons of each technique.
    The new product introduction will be handled by our clients, so I wanted to know if all the required features can be handled by just one method so we can propose that to be used by the client. Or do we need to use both techniques for different scenarios?
    As I understand with Chaining one can link one item to many sites at one go, while with CW the similar item is created linked to one particular location.
    Also CW allows for adding cannibalization factor which is not accounted for in chaining.
    Apart from this it would be really helpful if someone could throw some more light on the issue.

    I personally feel that 'Create Similar product' is a much required improvement over the original way of NPI using Member & Chaining Management.
    Also with CW as well, a new and similar item created can also be linked to multiple location, same as Source Item, depending on the filters used in the Worksheet from which the create similar product is invoked.
    some of the PROS and CONS of the 2 methods are as follows:
    Demand Planner: Member & chaining management
    Pros: 1) Can be used to specify the time range for copying the history date.
    2) Can be used to specify the Percentage by which the source data needs to be adjusted while copying into the target combination
    3) An important feature is that this can be used to do chaining at an aggregated level.
    Cons: 1) It takes a long time to setup a New Member, combination and Chaining relationship.
         2) High User involvement since user has to perform muliptle tasks and more error prone.
    Collaborative Workbench: Create Similar product
    Pros: 1) User-friendly
    2) Users needs to enter a few datapoints in single form and does not need to navigate through multiple forms/screens
    3) Ability to specify Cannibalization parameters as well as Launch dates
    4) Good performance.
    5) Ongoing Chaining
    6) When coupled with features like 'End of Lifecycle date', it provides a complete Business solution           
    Cons: 1) Can not be used for only performing Chaining.
    2) While it can be used to create a New Similar Product, it cannot be used to create a new similar Customer based on an existing item-location combination data. This,though, may not be a very common scenario.
    3) Apart from copying other Item attributes, the method also copies the same 'Item Description' level from source to the new similar product, which sometimes can be very confusing.

    Does anyone know of some good articles/publications or suggestions for
    implementing a single signon for multiple very secure internet sites in
    weblogic type environments.
    For example, bank1 has a internet site and bank 2 has an internet site.
    Bank 2 has some cool features they want to offer bank1's customers. They
    agree but, bank1 wants to present bank2 as a tab or part of bank1 site.
    IN order to do this there are lots of fun things, but the things Im
    interested in are how to authenticate between them and handle timeouts.
    timeouts seem particularly tricky in that if I dont hit a page on bank2
    for a while, it could time out its session for the guy on bank1. Also if
    im in the bank2 section of the site, then bank1 could time me out as
    well.
    any ideas let me know.

    I am running into the same issue. Out of need, different applications
    need to be hosted on different boxes/JVM's/web applications. I am
    experimenting with a customer single sign on process which is
    independent of Java but lends itself nicely to it. Here is my thoughts:
    1) All applications need to run under the same domain. For example:
    foo.redrose.net, www.redrose.net, bar.redrose.net, app1.redrose.net
    all reside under redose.net.
    2) You have a database table (secure) that contains the following:
    user id, password, session id, last access time.
    3) This database table contains all of the valid sessions across the
    domain (in this exmaple .redrose.net)
    4) There is a daemon running which runs every ?? seconds that deletes
    any records older than ?? seconds/(or minutes/hours) in the
    database.
    5) There exist a cookie which is set to the domain level that contains
    the session id.
    6) The session id provides a way to obtain the id and password for the
    user to authenticate to the container. For example in WL5.1SP8 there
    exists: weblogic.servlet.security.ServletAuthentication.weak(...) to
    authenticate to your container. By using this you will get the
    capability of setting up your roles and ACLS etc in you web.xml and
    weblogic.xml to handle authorization.
    7) All requests to any applications participating in this philosophy
    must do the following for EVERY request (or appropriate):
    Even if you are logged authenticated to the container and authorized,
    you may have timed out or logged out of another application. So the
    database table must be checked to see if the session id exists. At the
    same time, you must also update the last access time to prevent timeout.
    8) If the user tries to access a different application which he has not
    authenticated to yet - the user will be forwarded to a servlet whichwill:
    a) Look for the cookie at the domain level
    b) If the cookie is found - get the UID and PWD from database
    b2) Present login form if cookie is invalid/not exists
    c) Authenticate to container
    d) Forward back to original page and let the container handle
    authorization since you have already authenticated.
    I use have encapsulated the database activity into 3 stored functions:
    1) isValidSession(session_id) - Returns null or the user id and pwd
    concatentated which will need split apart if needed
    2) makeSession(user_id, password) - Returns a new unique session id and
    creates the appropriate record
    3) cleanUpSessions() - Arguements not yet determined. This will delete
    any records older than a certain time. I would like to have the proc
    know what to delete without being given a parameter but time to the
    second level can be tricky for some DBMS's.
    There is a concern of storing the user id and password in the database
    but this can be eliminated with a good design to restrict access to the
    database table and using encrypted connections.
    Hope this helps. Hopefully - a similar philosphy will be adopted by an
    application container so I may not have to worry about this and I can go
    back programming business functionality.

    I'm using Logic Pro 9. Could someone teach me how to turn a single recorded voice into multiple voices that sound like a group singing together
    by mixing or other techniques ? I don't have the luxury of a group singing together with me when I do recording. Advices would be much appreciated!

    By far the most natural way to achieve this is for the singer to perform multiple takes - even if you've only one singer. At it's simplest, you could just double track the vocal part, although I prefer 3 parts - panned centre, left & right. Then repeat this process for each harmony, & mix accordingly.
    Melodyne & some of the above methods do work on am single voice, but phase cancellation can be an issue if your not careful with each part's timing & panning. If you can only get a couple of decent takes from the singer, far better to perform any harmony/pitching techniques on the second take to avoid any phase issues. It's not uncommon for a singer to perform each vocal part 5-10 times, then comp (edit) the best takes so that you end up with 3 decent takes.
    If you've only only one voice to work with Antares Harmony EFX is a useful alternative.

    I want to use a 6534 DIO to drive my instrument and a synchronized 6502E to do AI from the instrument. The developer zone tutorial "Advanced Synchronization Techniques for Data Acquisition" suggests some of what is necessary to change from using AO as the master to using some other operation. After installing an RTSI cable, "Synchronized AI,AO,DI,DO,CTR.vi" runs as-is. Has anyone successfully converted the "Synchronized AI,AO,DI,DO,CTR.vi" or something similar to having some other master than AO? I want to use DO as master, and have moved the start vi's to the initialization cases except that for DO, have removed DI completely,and have tried to get DO to transmit REC1 on RTSI1 and AI and AO to clock o
    n the RTSI1 signal. The modified VI runs to completion, but I get no input at AI.

    1.For this requirement you have to go for a Z report and you can give the Functional Spec's to prepare
    this report to your ABAP consultant.Prepare the input format,logic of the program and the output format.
    In the logic part you can make use of this Functional Modules's CSAP_MAT_BOM_READ or 
    CSEP_MAT_BOM_READ  or CS_BOM_EXPLOSION   or CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2 .
    2.Using CEWB helps you to identify all the material that's having the BOM,but here the report does not
    shows you the level by level by BOM for a FERT.
    Check and revert back.

  • [ADF Help] How to create a view for multiple tables

    I am using Jdeveloper 11G and ADF framework, and trying to create a view to update multiple tables.
    ex:
    Table A has these fields: ID, Name
    Table B has these fields: ID, Address
    A.ID and B.ID are primary keys.
    B.ID has FK relationship with A.ID
    (basically, these tables have one-to-one relation)
    I want to create a view object, which contains these fields: B.ID (or A.ID), A.Name, B.Address.
    So I can execute C,R,U,D for both tables.
    I create these tables in DB, and create entity objects for these tables.
    So there are 2 entity objects and 1 association.
    Then I create a view object based on B and add fields of A into the view:
    If the association is not a "Composition Association",
    when I run the model ("Oracle Business Component Browser") and try to insert new data, fields of A can't edit.
    If the association is a "Composition Association", and click the insert button, I will get
    "oracle.jbo.InvalidOwnerException: JBO-25030: Failed to find or invalidate owning entity"
    If I create a view object based on A and add filed of B into the view:
    When I run the model and try to insert new data, fields of B can't edit, no matter the association is or is not a composition association.
    So... how can I create a view for multiple tables correctly?

    Thanks, but the result is same ....
    In the step 2 of creating view object, I can select entity objects to be added in to the view.
    If I select A first, and then select B (the "Source Usage" of B is A), then finishing the wizards.
    When I try to create a new record in the view, I can't edit any properties of B (those files are disabled).
    If I select B first, and then select A in crating view object, the result is similar ...

    This means that this IDOC types has capability to hold multiple HR Master data objects. PFAL program creates this IDOC and it has facility to mention the Objects per process, check selection screen.
    I checked for INVOICE01/02 its not possible there. Hope this clarifies.

    Here the issue is :-
    1-when i go for collective invoice ,it does not generate a single invoice with all DOs
    2-thus due to which output too is not getting generated.
    I want the settings needed for collective invoice & output type for this export invoice.

    I have given 2 different payment terms for 2 line items in single order and the billing is splitted due to this reason. I want to know where the system is checking this control. Because I want to create single Invoive even the payment terms are different. (The routine 003 under Data VBRK/VBRP in SO to Bill copy controls will be usefull only to create single Invoice for multiple SO's where the payment terms is same). But I need to create single Invoice even for multiple payment terms.
    Can anyone suggest me at the earliest please.

    The Billing Split is take care at Copy control level.
    For multiple line items in one single SO, with different Payment terms is not acceptable as per the  business logic and its not best practices.
    Please suggest the business to go on Split method only.
    Or
    Try to use Proforma Invoice Concept.

    As per the split analysis, System was checking the number generated for Foreign Trade data at delivery level.
    As told  i have Tried maintaining the Indication at copy control level VTFL "Redetermination of Foreign Trade Data at Billing level".
    This has resolved my Issue.
