Lexicon Lambda

I'm trying to record my guitar into GarageBand using my Lexicon Lambda USB Interface. I can record the midi input just fine with my keyboard, but I seem to be having trouble figuring out how to record my guitar through the interface. Any suggestions? I really would like to start recording as soon as possible.

Make sure to add a real instrument track
then on the right side of the screen (near the bottom) there is a setting for the input source.
select either Channel1(mono) or Channel2(mono)
if you are using the instrument input on the Lambda it would be Channel1 (mono)
is the guitar signal showing on the Lambda?

  • Why won't 'Speakable Items' Work with USB Audio Input Device (Lexicon Lambda)?

I am new to Apple Macs, yay for me!
I really want to use the 'Speakable Items' feature but unfortunately it just won't work with my Lexicon Lambda external USB Audio device.
Now, the Lambda is plugged in and working, and I know this from using the "Diction' feature which works perfectly.
When I go to System Preferences and click on accessibility>'Speakable items' and I turn on speakable items, I notice that under 'microphone' I'm unable to calibrate the microphone for some reason (if that's at all relevant).
I follow the instructions and have been asking 'what time is it?' and nothing happens
    Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem, using 10.8.4. I have been using Speakable Items for a long time, but it's not reacting at all anymore. I'm on a Mac Mini and have tried several inputs, that all work with dictation, and are selectable inputs for Speakable Items. Zoom H4N, Apogee Duet and an UAD Apollo. The only problem I can see, aside from something in the OS, would be that I have SoundFlower and WavTap installed. Will try uninstalling them, to see if that helps.

  • Hi. I am trying to record a video on my iPad 2 but hoping to use an external condenser microphone via my Lexicon Lambda interface. Is this possible, and if so, how?

Trying to record a video on the default iPad 2 video app, but not using the iPad 2 internal microphone. I would like to use an external condenser microphone via my Lexicon Lambda interface. Is this possible?

    Try a restart.
If that doesn't fix the problem, shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application unistaller. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • Lexicon Lambda Audio Interface - newbie question

OK, not strictly a Logic Express question, but I am using a Lexicon lambda audio interface with LE.
I'm new to audio interfaces, having just bought my second synth, so I needed an interface in order to connect both synths to the Mac.
Both synths are stereo (2 quarter-inch outputs), and having played around with the Lexicon I'm forming the opinion that I actually need a 4-input interface, rather than a 2-input, in order to connect both synths in stereo. I was hoping I could use an adapter on the two quarter-inch plugs to convert to a single quarter-inch stereo but I still only get sound through one channel.
Can someone confirm that it is actually a 4-input interface I need?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi.
I 've had a lexicon omega for a while and have tried it in a macbook (osx 10.5) and a mac mini (osx 10.6.2).
The interface works wonderfully for about 10mins and then it stops processing the playback signal. I can only hear sound on the direct.
I've returned the interface to the vendor and they say it's fine. I've contacted lexicon support and they responded: "If the clipping is only heard when the Monitor Mix knob is set to Playback, this may be a problem with your Mac's Core Audio. In this case you may want to contact Apple or try reinstalling the OS".
Since I've tried with 2 different Mac machines, and with different osx versions, i think I can rule out trying to "reinstall the OS".
Do you guys have any idea how I can mend this?
    It has become really frustrating...
    Thanks

  • Lexicon Lambda duplex support

I have a Lexicon Lambda USB audio interface. It works fine other than the fact that I can't get it to run in duplex mode. Right now when I record I use the Lambda for getting input from microphones and I use my onboard soundcard to output sound to my monitors. This is not desirable because I can't hear what I'm recording and what I'm recording along to at the same time.
I found this: http://www.spinics.net/linux/fedora/als … 01899.html which seems to identify the problem pretty well (assuming that he knows what he is talking about). No solution is offered and I am having serious trouble trying to find one myself. My only thought right now is to patch the module responsible for throwing the error so that it handles the way the interfaces are numbered when this particular device is connected to. The only problem is that I have no idea where to start. Do I have to recompile the whole kernel? The snd_usb_audio module? The usb module?
What I am asking for is some pointers on where I might start looking for the source code files so that I can attempt to remedy this problem, although any help will be much appreciated.

I do have an ~/.asoundrc and I have been through that wiki page multiple times before, I couldn't find anything that worked. The error messages I'm getting (from dmesg) seem to be from a lower level than the one which ~/.asoundrc works at. That being said, there are downstream solutions to upstream problems.
According to a follow up post:
They may have used the same code from their Omega, which I believe might have 8 interfaces, and just changed the number of interfaces without actually renumbering them.
So, the Omega might not even be susceptible to this issue.
Also, in the linux source code, I found out that linux-3.3/drivers/usb/core/config.c prints the error messages that were in the aformentioned post (and that I see too). I have not yet read enough of the code/docs to have the vaugest idea of how a solution might be implemented.

  • Lexicon Lambda, Finale 2011, Hiperscribe, MIDI problems

I have a brand new imac. While it recognises my Lexicon Lambda sound card it cannot run hyperscribe function on Finale 2011. I had no problems with a mac book pro or PC wit same midi set-up. Any help?

How is your keyboard connected to the Mac?

  • Problems with Lexicon Lambda Interface and Mac OS10.5

    Hi everybody
I used my Audio interface Lexicon Lambda for a wile with 10.4 and it worked great. I updated now to 10.5.2 and since then I have buffer problems. I can change all the setting but it just change the time until it happen. Everything sound digital noise, a delay and so on.
For test reasons I went back to 10.4 and it worked fine, now I am back on 10.5 and still problems.
The answer from the Lexicon Pro Support was: "There are no firmware updates for the Lambda; however, there may be software updates for the Leopard OS that improve the performance of your audio application when using the Lambda hardware."
So any ideas, any persons with similar problems? Is it just me, but in my opinion this should be a Lexicon problem, am I wrong?
Thank you for all your answers.
    Marco

Leopard is really a different OS. Lots of things have been changed in networking, security, core audio etc.
    Changes often carry problems.
A 10.5.3 update is on the go but until then it's better if you remain with Tiger.
    cheers

  • CS4 Crashes when opening a PP project saved on another identical workstation

    Hello,
I have 2 identical computers Running PP CS4 in seperate buildings. When I copy a project to a USB flash drive or network drive from workstation A and copy it on to workstation B, the project acts like it successfully loads and at the very last second when you can see the timeline and everything it crashes out.
My system: PC - Intel Core 2 DUO 3ghz processor (E7500) with 2 gigs RAM - Lexicon Lambda usb audio interface - NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX + video card on windows xp pro service pack 2. Premiere pro cs4 version 4.2.1. I went throught the steps in the "Guide to an effective question" and per the instructions there I have attached links to the DXDiag results, MSINFO32 results, and screenshots of a couple of the screens in Process Explorer: (these screenshots are from workstation B, where I'm trying to open the project file and it crashes)

    >2 identical computers
Hmm... if they are EXACTLY identical, there is something you might try as a LAST CHANCE (not to be done lightly, since hardware signatures will likely mean that you have to RE-authorize Windows and all software)
Buy http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/image-for-linux.htm (or your disk imaging software of choice)
Make a drive image of GOOD computer to USB hard drive... ditto for BAD computer
After both images are made, write the GOOD image onto the BAD computer's drive and test
If all works well (after any RE-authorizing due to any hardware signatures) you are good to go
If things do NOT work well, simply write the BAD image back to the BAD computer and you are back to where you started
Do not attempt this unless the two computers really are EXACTLY identical !!!!!

  • How can I get Log Express to recognize my external keyboard? - NEWBIE

I'm using a Lexicon Lambda phantom powered converter (I think that's what it's called) to run my Left and Right 1/4" cables to, from my Kurweil master out. Then the USB cable from the Lexicon out, to the Mac. How do I get Logic Express to recognize the Kurzweil so I can record the Kurzweil's on-board sounds rather than using it as a Midi controller?
Very new to Logic and all of this-any help is appreciated in layman's terms.

OK - got logic to recognize the Kurzweil keyboard on a new track, I can hear the on-board Kurzweil piano sounds, but Logic is not recording it. what gives?

  • Garageband/logic volume issue

ok so.... i basically finished the pre-production of my album and everything sounds absolutely fantastic.... through garageband and logic that is. when i export the song to itunes or my desktop, everything is very distorted. i understand that this is a volume issue. when i have "auto-normalize" on, everything sounds just the way it should but very quite. so, in an effort to make it louder, i turn off this option. the volume level returns to normal but everything is distorted. how can i fix this? can i have some examples of EQing, compression, and filtering? i am recording through a Lexicon lambda into my iMac 24 inch.

none of the tracks clip at all throughout the songs. ive messed around with all EQ settings and compression but it still sounds distorted when i export it. all im trying to do is export the song and the same quality it was at in garageband... if i out the song through logic or protools, will it help my problem?

  • Can't hear playback with USB audio interface plugged in

I start Logic Pro 8 and then plug in Lexicon Lambda for a USB interface between guitar and macbook pro. With the Lambda plugged in I hear nothing from mac or headphone input on Lambda. If I unplug Lambda I can hear playback from mac just fine thru speakers or headphones.
Very appreciative of any advice on how to solve this.
    Thanks.

Unplug your audio interface, reboot the Mac, plug the USB interface in, let it be recognized. Open Audio/MIDI Setup (in utilities) see if the Lambda shows up as an input and output device.
    Yes/No?
If yes, you don't have to select if for any of the Input/Outputs, Logic's audio interface selection operates independently from the system.
Open Logic go to "Preferences/Audio) select the Lexicon or Lambda interface as the default unit, set audio buffers to 256.
    Anything yet.
All audio I/O will be coming from the lexicon the Mac's audio system is now out of the equation.

  • Can't hear playback in GarageBand

I'm a newbie. Trying to record spoken voice. Using Griffin Tech's iMic USB Audio Interface to input a Radio Shack dynamic mic with impedence of 5000. Signal is getting into computer, because meters jump and graphics show it. Also, I am having no problem recording and playing back using Audacity, and hearing it through the computer's internal speaker just fine. But when I then try the same thing in GarageBand (having changed nothing in the computer's settings), I don't hear anything when I play it back. Any suggestions?

  • Recording 2 tracks simultaneously?????

I'm having trouble recording 2 tracks simultaneously in Logic Pro 7. I'm recording a podcast and want to record 2 separate mic's, one for each host.
I have the Lexicon Lambda audio recording interface.
For some reason i cant figure out how to select "Input 2" for my "Track 2". I guess that's really all i need to know how to do........ select "Input 2". I've seached throughout the program and clicked everywhere and just cant seem to figure out how to select it. I click on the bar that says "Input 1", but nothing happens.
Even if i do figure out how to select "Input 2" (which i think i did one night), will i be able to record 2 tracks at once, using 2 different inputs?
This is driving me nuts......... it seems so easy, but i just cant figure it out!!!
    Thank you!! Love you!!!!!!

So I've made progress..... In the menu of the Audio window on the left where it says "Channel: Track 2", I click on the little arrows and I am able to select "Input 2". But then the window underneath the Audio window (the window with the level meter) changes a bit.
I am able to highlight the record button on both tracks 1 and 2, and i'm showing separate volume readings for each...... so everything is good so far.
The problem comes when i actually hit record. I hit record, and the cursor runs, but nothing gets recorded. No waveforms pop up. I've figured that this only happens when i have "Input 2" selected.
Track 1 still will record, but only if it's record button is highlighted by itself.
    This is driving me insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have noticed that in any track that i have "Input 2" selected, the little snowflake button dissapears, as well. This snowflake button is next to the mute and record buttons in the track window. I dont even know what this snowflake button does. Is it a "solo" button? Button. Button. Button.
Does anybody know what is going on??
Do I need to select some kind of "Stereo" setting or something in my Preferences?
    Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Logic cuts low frequencies when recording audio?

I am using a Lexicon Lambda interface and a iMac running Logic Pro 9, when i try to rip vinyl from a single turntable or record a mix from my mixer logic cuts most of the low frequencies leaving a tinny sounding recording, i have tried recording using the same interface with a Acer laptop running both Cubase and Soundforge and all is fine, so it must be something in Logic's settings, probably something simple that i have missed most likely, anyone know what to do to stop this?

Sounds as though you are hearing the effect of the RIAA EQ curve (bass cut and treble boost) applied at the cutting stage to keep the cutter head excursion within manageable bounds. If you connect a deck directly to your computer, this is to be expected. However, a DJ mixture should correct for the EQ. Does it have more than one output? If so, see if changing output affects the sound. If not, does your interface have a 'phono' input? If so, this should provide the required compensation. Failing that, does anyone have a Linear Phase EQ preset to deal with the RIAA curve?
