Lexicon MX400 tempo ?

Im trying to get the MX 400 to receive tempo from logic
Mac Pro ( Snow Leopard), Logic Pro ( 9 ) E-Magic Unitor 8, Port 3 Midi, Motu HD192
Audio send and returns all working fine. I see the MX 400 as a plugin
But in my Audio, Midi setup Its there ! I just cant connect the cables
Port 1 is Mackie control, Port 2 is my Korg keyboard, No problem.
Just cant connect the cables for port 3 MX 400. So it wont follow tempo from logic.
Any help ? Thanks Bill

It was my PPC G5 with 1.5g RAM at home.
Connected at my Studio PPC G5 with lots more RAM it syncs like a charm.

It is possible to set the snippet URL to an empty string by setting the browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl pref to an empty string on the about:config page. Then you only get a few default snippets.

I hear ya blkayzay, I am building in my environment a controller for my new Lexicon MX400 reverb. Lexicon says it has an Audio Unit plugin to control it, BUT it is only PPC, and I'm on an Intel mahcine.
So I am enjoying the wonderful experience* of cabling things in the environment to control it.
So, dr9, do you know how to build a couple of buttons, one to increment a preset by one, and one to decrement by one? I'm stuck there. all the other functions I am able to control easily. But this feature to be able to change presets up and down, is not really working for me. I do have the presests on a text object, as a menu, so I can choose which one to recall...but...it would be soooo cool to be able to increment by one when searching for a close sound.

Here is my new setup;
MP with Symphony, Ad 16x, DA 16X, ISA 428, Avalon 737VP, Lexicon MX400 and 48 Patchbay.
4XLR connected from 428 and 1XLR from 737VP to the AD16X and the rest went straight to Patchbay. All of DA16X outputs connected to the patchbay..Although, trk 1 & 2 is the main output to the Central Station.
Here is my problem; in Logic (I have order LP8), I have the lead vocals coming out Audio 7 into the Avalon via the patchbay. Coming back from the Avalon to AD, I cannot hear the vocals but I do see the levels on trk 7.
*Am I doing something wrong?*
I had no problems with the Ensemble and dont really want to invest into a mixer until next year.
Any thoughts????

Yes - there are several ways to do this. I've also rerecorded the processed vocal pass, just to keep stuff tidy and apply further plug in effects. Also this gives the ability to combine the two vocal tracks with different effects for thickening etc. But yes, a different audio input should work fine.

Loops not stretching to match tempo

I moved my loops to an external drive and then remapped them but now when I drag one into my arrange window it will not match the tempo. I also can't stretch it manually. I'm sure I did this before and I'm having trouble finding information about it both in the manual and online. How do I do this?

aha, thanks! I notice though that it does not always snap to the grid even though the time does change. Is there a way to do this manually?

Auditioning wav loops at correct tempo

I have been a Protools user for several years, but because of all the usual annoyances with PT I have decided to join the Logic camp, just today in fact.
However one feature I am immediately missing is the protools equivalent of "Calculate Elastic Analysis" in the workspace browser. If you are not familiar with PT, this enables you to preview wav loops at the correct tempo for your session.
In Logic I can navigate to my loops via the browser, but previewing them just plays the original tempo of the loop, not at the tempo of my session. I can of course drag it into the arrange window and fix it, but I miss the immediacy of the PT approach.
PT has a process called "Manual Indexing" that goes through all of your sample collection and extracts metadata such as tempo to make this process work. Is there perhaps an equivalent in Logic I haven't found yet? Do I have to convert all of my samples to Apple loops perhaps? but how would I do that?

3rd Party AIFF loops tempo changes from loop library and Logic session

Hope somebody out there can help me out!
I've recently purchased some 3rd party loops, some in AIFF and some in WAV (Which I have converted to AIFF using the Apple Loops Utility), and i have been able to get these into the logic Loop library successfully.....Or so I thought!
The problem I am having is that when previewing one of my loops it's often double the speed that the set tempo, and this will happen to ALL of my loops. But when I drag one into my session, Logic asks if it should copy over the automation data with it, click yes, and it plays fine in the arrange window. And funnily enough, all of my loops in the library start playing at the correct tempo!
Once this has all happened, i've tried quitting logic, and re-opening....but the issue just happens again....
Has anyone else had this problem, or have any idea as to what the issue may be??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

big help. In our session we keep getting this problem where the song counter stops, the music keeps playing and we get an error message saying:
Non Tempo-Event found in Sync Reference
We looked in the tempo list and somehow there was a tempo event of 0.00 tempo in there.
We deleted it, got the same error message, but the prob seems to be fixed.
Apple, please fix this!

Slow/Jerky Video with kt6v\sempron 2400\geforce mx400

I'm hoping someone out there has seen this problem before and can point me in the right direction for how to solve it. I am putting this system together for my sister. Here are the system's credentials:
msi kt6v mainboard
amd sempron 2400 processor
256 meg ddr ram, 400mhz
nvidia gforce mx400 agp display adaptor 64meg
western digital caviar 20 gig hard drive
generic (comp usa) 52x ide cdrom drive
lucent pci lt win modem
windows xp pro with service pack 2
Mainboard bios has recently been upgraded to recognize the sempron cpu.
Cpu freqency in cmos is set to 166mhz. (is this the correct setting?)
The problem:
When playing various video games, such as Carnival Cruise Lines Tycoon, Trailer Park Tycoon, or The Sims (all of which are great games, btw), the video is extremely choppy/jerky. It doesn't play smoothly at all. But it SHOULD! As a test, if I replace that video card with an FX5200 personal cinema, it works great! (but there's no way I'm going to give my sister that fx5200 card! I need the mx400 to work in this machine.) I can put that gforce mx400 in another machine (kt4v with amd 2200xp) and it works great. So this tells me the problem should not be with the display adaptor nor the kt6v mainboard. But is there a compatability problem between the two? Is there a setting I've overlooked? I'm thinking this is probably an issue with the display drivers or the mainboard drivers, I just don't know. I've spent the last 3 nights trying to figure this one out. This has me stumped.
Anyone else seen this same problem and know the fix? Also, anybody know what the recommended cmos settings are on the kt6v when using the mx 400 display adaptor and the sempron 2400 cpu? What are the recommended drivers/versions for this mainboard and display adaptor?

Is there another way to adjust tempo of loops the faster way, any other technique?

No clue why the final processes have suddenly started to take so long. Two things I'd try: a) capture from an older tape to see if some problem with the new tape is at fault. And b) check the health of your RAM and the hard drive.
The red frame sounds a bit like a glitch we used to have in OnLocation (actually in its predecessor HDV Rack) which was caused by a partial GOP. But that was a product of HDV Rack recording from the live video stream. It turned out that HDV cameras intentionally interrupt the data stream for an instant upon starting to record--specifically to avoid recording a partial GOP to tape. So my gut says that the tape has partial GOPs at the points where you stopped/started recording.

Tempo and VAP problems

I'm running a Tecra M9, Vista Business, and have been getting repeated errors when trying to download vap-20080108104614 (slow download rate and cant read part of the file - the archive is damaged). Also, the tempo service repeatedly crashes/stops running. Any advice?

I know that download speed is slow and we must have patience with drivers download. As far as I know VAP is designed for different Vista running notebook models and I can really not believe the file is damaged. I recommend you to use some download manager. Please try it.
I hope you will be able to use VAP after next download.

Midi tempo/key Apple Loops

I tried working with Apple Loops and an extensive external midi rig the other day and came to an impasse at trying to do the following.
Any suggestions?
I used a ton of Jam pack loops with original loops in exs24 and external modules
What I wanted to do is to only change the tempo of the midi tracks(ostinatto mallets) and leave the loops at existing tempo.
Basically wanted to double the tempo of the midi track against the existing audio loops...
Any way to lock the Apple Loops at existing tempo?

I guess you could do like this; Bounce the loop as a regular AIF and add to audio window, then bring it to your arrange again, and just loop it regularly. If you now change the tempo of the song - the aif will stay as it were (unless you click follow tempo...)

How do I change tempo (batch samples)?

I have a bunch of loops - 2 to 4 bars in length - melodic... at 120 BPM.
My project is at 70 BPM.
The loops at 120 BPM are melodic - and even feel like halftime (60 bpm).
I would like to get all the samples to my project tempo.
The loops are .wav files - though just converted to .aiff files.
Incidently, these "loops" are not going to be looped - they are just snippets of melodies.
Please let me know best sound, least complicated way to get the same tempo as my project.

Okay, fair enough; I'll give it a go.
First, a quick summary, & then the details from the manual in case my summary *****. Oh, I forgot you can't say s-u-c-k-s; I mean, if it's not terribly good. (And the stuff in my previous post also applies.)
SUMMARY:
You can insert tempo changes on the Tempo Track, just underneath the Bar Ruler. It may be that at the moment you don't see a Tempo Track, so in order to display it you need to choose View > Global Tracks.
(It sounds like you may have been trying to input tempo changes on Audio or MIDI tracks; that's not the right place. It has to be on a Tempo Track.)
Hopefully that's all you need, but JIC the rest of the info follows; ignore it if you're sorted!
Of course, if you're already doing all this, & it still isn't working, please get back in touch again…
In the Arrange Window (Windows > Arrange), the Arrange area is where all MIDI and audio information is recorded, on horizontal tracks. Above the Arrange area is the Bar Ruler, which displays position information.
Global Tracks provide a perfect way to view and edit global events, such as Tempo, which affect all tracks in the arrangement.
There are several types of Global tracks, & one of them is the Tempo track, which contains all tempo changes of a song.
Global tracks can be displayed in the Arrange window, just below the Bar Ruler.
Global tracks are displayed or hidden by use of the View > Global Tracks menu option.
Creating Global Events:
To create a global event (a tempo change, for example), use the Pencil tool and click at the desired position in the track. (If you haven’t changed the default tool assignments, this is done by clicking while holding the Command key). Watch the help tag while holding down the mouse button: It displays the exact position and value (if applicable) of the event to be inserted, until the mouse button is released.

MainStage playback plugin tempo issue

I am having problems with importing audio into a playback plugin.
I understand that the audio file needs to be exported from Logic X as a CAF file. I have done this, and then imported it into the playback plugin in Mainstage3.
I have ensured that the tempo of the song in MainStage is at the appropriate level i.e. in this case a patch, which has been set to the tempo of the original song in logic.
I have also synced the loop in the playback plugin, and set snap to beat.
The problem is, it doesn't play at the same speed as the metronome i.e. as the tempo of the patch in MainStage. The result is that it plays too fast, and pitch shifts with adjustment. I have used all the flexitime options, but ultimately this is trying to put a small plaster on a large open wound.
As a test of sanity, I have also exported as AIFF and wav. No joy there either. I have even opened the resultant AIFF file in iTunes, and it DOES play at the correct tempo.
Does anyone know a solution to this problem, or if not, of another playback plugin for MainStage that actually might work properly!!!??

Although I still have no idea what causes this problem I do have a work around for anyone else who happens to experience this same problem.
As I am not the creator of the loops, I cannot recreate them, so my only option is to "convert" them from *.wav to *.wav using FormatFactory on my work computer (MS Windows).
For some reason, the files end up a few bytes smaller, but they play to the end with no issues.
I would love to know what changes are being made during the conversion, but at the moment, I don't have the time to "debug" the situation.

Tempo setting when creating Apple Loops (Utility)

Having chopped a long audio file (drum track) into exact bar/beat settings, saved as separate audio files, I'm having trouble with tempo settings when creating Loops in Apple Loops Utility.
The problem is that after saving a looped file (from the Utility), upon loading that loop file into the Utility again, the (interpreted) tempo of the file is now doubled, which really screws up playback and placement of the loop file.
For example, my original tempo is 72bpm. I save the files as Looping, with the correct number of beats for each file (4 for a 1 bar file, 8 for 2 bars, etc.), and the tempo in the info section on the right side of the Utility correctly shows 72bpm. After saving the file as a loop, and then opening it again in the Utility, suddenly the tempo shows 144, and playback is at half speed.
Oddly, I was able to successfully do this to another track from a song at a faster tempo. In that case, the loop files open as expected. And I'm using exactly the same process this time... humm???
How can I get around this?

What version of Logic are you running. It works fine for me on Logic 9.1.3 in 32-bit mode. I seem to remember having the same problem as you're experiencing in Logic 8.0.2
