LEXMARK PRINTER and MAC

Hello,
I have a Lexmark all-in-1, S400 Series. Has worked fine up to a few days ago. Nothing is printing. I am getting the message: "There is a problem communicating with the printer" although the MBP printer window also indicates "printer ready"
I've not changed any settings/preferences. I've checked the addresses (SSID are the same, i.e., computer name and printer name), pinged; . All appear fine.
By the way, I print wirelessly (or had been up to now).

I have a different Lexmark (x5410) but here are a few trouble-shooting hints...
Open System Preferences, go to Printers, select the printer, click on "Open Printer". This will show you the print queue. Sometimes a wonky job will fail and back up everything behind it.
Go to /Applications/Utilities/Console and run it right after the printer misbehaves. Look for messages with time stamps that line up with when you had the problem.
If the message is something about trying to write to a freed object, there is a bug in the driver for the printer. What probably happened is that somewhere along the line you got a software update for the printer drivers -- or should we call that a "software downgrade"! You can try going to the lexmark site and downloading the driver from there, and if the old driver works, then whenever software update offers to "update" your driver just refuse!

LexMark Printer and Snow Leopard

IMac with Mac OSX (10.5) was working well with my Lexmark all in one Printer (Prevail Pro 705). I updated operating system to Snow Leopard and now cannot print. Tried to reinstall the printer software and got message indicating a newer version already exists on the hard drive. Then went to LexMark and downloaded latest driver and firmware update... still no luck. the error message says I need to download appropriate software....

To uninstall the Lexmark software, please click on the link UNINSTALL.Then remove the remaining files. Just click on the link on how to remove thefiles.

Dell printer and Mac OS

Hi, we just switched over to Mac and am trying to get my Dell 2130cn printer to work with these computers. Many thanks to the help in this forum, i was able to find and download the recommended pxlmono driver and can now print in color. However, i'm not able to use the duplexer, second tray, and printing photos takes forever. We are using the comps/printer in a business application, and printing newsletters, envelopes/graphics etc is a necessary daily event. Does Mac offer a translating software that will allow me to install the Dell drivers to run the printer as I did on our PCs, or should I buy a new printer?? Many thanks

Just to double check--would it work if I installed Windows with a Mac program that allowed me to run Windows parallel to the Mac os (i'm sick of windows) just to run the printer? I know it seems like an easier solution to just buy a new printer, but frankly I'm not excited about the options out there--really like this printer and have $500 of toners we just bought for it. But i don't really want to compromise--I'd like it to work like it did on a PC. Thanks again

Lexmark X6690 and Mac OSX 10.6

ok...My MacBook and the said printer used to print & scan in perfect harmony. Then I upgraded to 10.6....and I could only print. anytime I tried to scan, the software always crashed.
So....I was just happy to be able to print and hoped that soon, another driver would be available and would iron out the scanning issue.
Imagine my joy when I seen that Software update had now found a new lexmark driver....I could scan away until the cows came home...so I thought.
Now I can't print or scan. Has anyone else had this misery forced upon them? It just so happens that I really need to print some documents today - I'm 20mins from going to my local PC World and buying another printer.

I feel your pain. After upgrading to SL, any attempt to print would prompt the queue to tell me I needed to "install software" to print. In the end, I was only able to get it to run by :
1. Going into something like Macintosh HD/Printers/Lexmark/2008 and running the uninstaller in there.
2. Deleting anything else I could find relating to the printer - I think there was a preference file or something.
3. Downloading and installing the latest drivers from Lexmark
4. Doing Software Update from the Apple menu and installing the Lexmark Printer Drivers update it then finds.
HOWEVER - despite the fact I could now print and scan, the drivers leave my system constantly running with about 60% CPU load. I've just done another uninstall so I'm going to try again, but this is incredibly infuriating.

I don't have access to a Lexmark printer but here's a guide as to what to look for.
When you select print in an application a window opens. If this window has the pointer at the RH end of the Printer line pointing down click on it. The window will expand. You will see a horizontal line with a box on it. As I've been typing this reply in Safari that box has 'Safari'. Click on the arrows and choose something like 'Settings'. The items will differ for different printers. This should then allow you to select B&W or Grayscale. You might have to look around a bit to find the right item to change.

HT3500 I cannot connect Macbook (OS 10.6.8) to Epson XP 400 wirelessly. It works when connected to a USB cable. Both printer and Mac are on the same network and Norton/symantic is OFF. The Epson will not show up in "add printer". is off.

Add printer does not find the Epson. All works when I use the USB cable.

Further information on my question about the epson wireless printer and macbook.
It seems that the epson xp-400 works wirelessly only with 802.11n wireless network not with 802.11g or earlier.
Does anyone else know about this. I read it on the epson support site for epson xp-400.
Also epson xp-400 will not work wirelessly if it is already connected to a computer with a USB cable.

HP psc 1210 all-in-one printer and Mac OS 10.9 (Mavericks)

I just installed the new OS X (Mavericks) on my mac yesterday, and now my printer, an old but reliable HP psc 1210 all-in-one, will not install. I was previously running OS 10.6 (Snow Leopord) and had no problems with the printer. Is there anything I can do to install my printer on the new OS? My computer doesn't even recognize that there is a printer connected via USB when I try to install it... is there anything I can do?

Wireless printing and Mac OS 10.6.8

I have recently upgraded to Mac OS 10.6.8 (Software Update) and it appears to have removed my wireless connection to my HP Printer All in One C8180. Computer instructions do not feed into the printer. It was fine before the upgrade. I have a Mac OS X (10.6.8), Mac 2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo.
Can anyone suggest what to do?

Unless you've tried this already, before you roll back to 10.6.7 it may be worth re-installing the 10.6.8 update using the combo updater: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
The combo has all the updates since 10.6. Sometimes on this forum people report issues after doing the latest point update to the OS. Using the combo often, though not always, fixes things.
It's worth repairing disk permissions before and after updating.

Lexmark X85 and Mac OS X 10.4.8?

Are there updated drivers for this printer yet? I've got a Mac mini and can't get past the "Open Printer Center" button; supposedly because the software driver does not support Mac OS X 10.4.
Also, how do I get the "scan" feature to work on this printer, since I can't fully install the software from the driver CD...

Without being too harsh, you should be able to check the manufacturer's site by yourself. A couple of clicks led me to a driver that is listed as supporting OS 10.4.x.

Idle printer and Mac

I havephotosmark a 2009 Macbook OSX system and a photosmart 6380. I get the printer idle message, too. Have followed instructions to no avail. The printer prints out blank sheets, but the printer message says that it is idle. It has new HP Idcartridges.

I have a few questions for you:
1.) What version of Mac are you using? OS X: Finding your OS version and build information
2.) How is the printer connected? Wireless or USB?
3.) Can you make copies with the printer?

HP Photosmart e-station printer and Mac 250 Pro

I am having problems printing 3 x 5 photos because the error code says that the paper tray is not loaded. It is loaded and I think I just do not have everything set correctly from my Mac. Any suggestions??? j-9

Hi,
First try a forced shutdown of the "Zeen". Hold in the power button until the Zeen completely powers off. Not just the screen. Usually, the Zeen will make a small sound from the speaker when the Zeen is completely off.
Turn the printer off as well. leave it off for about 30 seconds.
Power the printer on. Power the Zeen on. Wait until all is completely powered on and connected to each other.
You can tell this from the home screen of the Zeen.
Also ensure that the Zeen is loaded with the latest Android version for the Zeen. That is Version 2.11

Problems with Epson R2400 printer and Mac

I'm a photographer and I switched to an imac a while ago. When I tried out my Epson R2400 printer, it worked really awful, comparing to when I used it with PC. I still haven't managed to fix these prolems. The printer menu is diminished (less options, many inaccessible in grey), there are problems with print density, with color adjustment, what I see on my screen is not what I get on my print (a black and white photo in grayscale mode can appear almost light blue when printed), there are even alignment problems (centred photos appear closer to the left edge of the paper). And I don't have a clue why all this is happening. The printer driver I installed is apparently the latest one. So I don't know where to go from here. I have installed and I use the profiles of the specific papers I'm using, but the results are NASTY. Please help.

By the way, I have read the links under "More like this", but those threads don't seem to clarify my question. Originally I had installed my Epson driver from the original (old) Epson CD. When that didn't work I uninstalled and installed the newer Epson driver from the Epson's site. Doesn't work and the problems I'm having are the ones I mentioned above.

Cannot read print job Lexmark x264 and Yosemite

I have an printer Lexmar x264 over lan and I have an problem after update to Yosemite. Tried everything to remove device driver to return, to reset printer, to redefine IP address, no success...
Any help about it?

I've never heard about resetting the printing system on the Mac -- when I opened the Print & FAX icon in System Preferences, I don't see anything about reset -- are you suggesting I delete the Lexmark printer and re-add it?
In regards to the installation of Acrobat 5.x and Reader 8.1.2 on the same WinXP system -- that's on a physically separate PC -- not emulation on the Mac. And I installed Reader 8.x in order to take advantage of some newer PDF documents that require something more recent that 5.x.
And ultimately, on both systems .... what's up with the inability to print to the Lexmark printer, when every other application prints successfully. And, by the way, there is also an HP C3100 printer attached to the Mac via a USB cable ... and Reader 8.1.2 prints to it.
The lexmark optra printer is connected directly to the network here, and all of the PCs and the Mac (only 1) can print to the networked printer without problems -- except for Reader 8.x.
If you're suggesting I reset printers because of a known issue, I'd appreciate hearing the whole story before I start uninstalling and reinstalling printers.
