LexMark Printer and Snow Leopard

IMac with Mac OSX (10.5) was working well with my Lexmark all in one Printer (Prevail Pro 705).  I updated operating system to Snow Leopard and now cannot print. Tried to reinstall the printer software and got message indicating a newer version already exists on the hard drive. Then went to LexMark and downloaded latest driver and firmware update... still no luck. the error message says I need to download appropriate software....

To uninstall the Lexmark software, please click on the link UNINSTALL.Then remove the remaining files. Just click on the link on how to remove thefiles.
Then download the software again for the Lexmark Pro705 for MAC 10.6 at this link: http://bit.ly/zlfV4z
Hope this helps.

  • Shared printing and snow leopard

I can't get my 2 mac books to print on the shared hp laserjet 1320 that is connected to my iMac. One mac book is running snow leopard and the other is running leopard. The iMac is running snow leopard. They printed fine before the upgrade to snow leopard. I have checked shared printer on all computers. The iMAc says everyone can print on the shared window. The firewall is turned off. The error message says authentication required. When I click on resume it asks for a user name and password. I have tried to add a user to the iMAc and then use that on the mac book but that does not work either. I talked to someone from HP today who referred me to this forum for help. Any ideas?

Bonjour is the protocol used by all recent versions of OS X to see shared printers. I don't have 10.4 but I do have a PowerMac G5 running 10.5.8 and it can see the shared printer on my MacBook Pro running 10.10.1. So I wonder if there is something about Bonjour in 10.4 or if you have some other network issue?
From the PowerBook, are you able to see and connect to a shared folder on the iMac?

  • Canon printer and Snow Leopard

I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and have now spent up to 8 hours trying to get my Canon MX 340 working again.  I checked the printer log and it said that the printmanagerfailed, I found a topic here about the same problem and it stated to go into system preferences and right click the canon printer and to select reset printing system.   Well I did that and it wiped out all my printers so needless to say that didn't work. Now I can't get it setup at all.  I have reloaded all of the drivers and software and it isn't even showing up in my system preferences so I can't add it.  I am pulling my hair out and really really need some help.  HELP!

Why would I go to HP printer support, it is a canon printer and yes I did download Canon's driver, what a joke.  I have found some information on this forum but so far no good.  At least I now have it showing up in systems preferences but still not working.  I wished I had checked all this b4 upgrading since I may not have done it.  I have downloaded the Apple supplied driver so if anyone out there knows what to do now I still need help.

  • Brother QL-500 P-Touch Printer and Snow Leopard

I have had this label printer for a couple of years. It has worked well, but I have had a lot of trouble with it since installing Snow Leopard.
I eventually got it working but the print program supplied by Brother P-Touch Editor is incredibly slow to load. It does eventually work. I am using version 5.0.013, which is the latest update on the Brother site.
I looked at the Get Info, and there is an option to open under Rosetta, but this crashes the program.
    Any ideas?

If you check the Brother website, you will see two new driver/editor packages for Snow Leopard. The first is for versions up to 10.5 and the second is for 10.6. However, if you check the filename, you will see that both are the same file, same file size and same issue date. It seems that the folks at Brother have loaded the same fileset for both versions.... unfortunately, the version they loaded is for Snow Leopard 10.5 which is of no use to those of us with the later versions.

  • Oki c9800PS printer and Snow Leopard problems printing

I have an OKI c9800PS printer and I must get it working urgently. Was working fine before installing Snow Leopard 10.6. Neither Apple nor OKI have been able to help so far. Does anyone have a solution? I keep getting an error message that says 'software was not installed correctly. Uninstall and reinstall.' I have done this more than six times so far.

After reading another post I tried the same suggestion but changing the name for my own printer and it works with Snow Leopard. (The original post of this solution is at
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2141179&tstart=0 - Matt's answer)
    SOLUTION:
The Oki installer has set permissions incorrectly.
    Open the Terminal application (/Applications/Utilities).
Copy and paste the following command into a Terminal window:
    sudo chown -R root:admin /Library/Printers/Oki/
Then hit the Return or Enter key. Enter your administrator's password at the prompt.
NOTE: Make sure the printer name, in my case 'Oki', is exactly the same spelling and case. When I put in OKI it didn't work. I had to put in 'Oki' as in my Printers folder.

  • Canon MP510 All in one printer and Snow Leopard problem...

    Hiya,
After looking at almost all the chat out there nothing has worked.
I have deleted the MP510 printer from my system prefs and ever since then I get the message "Cannot communicate with scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off. Check status. Scanner driver will be closed. 155.0.0". I cannot add the printer back into the list as it simply does not exist. Even with a new USB cable!
I have installed all the latest Canon software and upgrades: Easy-PhotoPrint EX_321; MP Navigator 304; PrinterDriverMP510102600 & ScanGear MP510 12131 to no avail, even after multiple restarts.
Can anyone help this newbie connect to the Canon printer please?

Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions.
When you select to add the printer, if it does not appear in the Default view of the Add Printer browser then there could be a problem with the MP510, especially since you have already tried a new USB cable.
Some additional things that you can try
    - turning the MP510 off for several seconds and then back on again
    - trying a different USB port on the Mac
    - resetting the printing system (described below) and trying to add the MP510 again
    - with the MP510 connected to the USB port, opening System Profiler and checking the Hardware > USB section
If none of the above helps then please reply...

*How to Reset the Printing System*
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
    2. Move your mouse over the Printers list
    3. Hold down the Control button and click the mouse (or right click if supported).
    4. Click "Reset printing system ..."
    5. Restart your Mac
This will remove your print queues but not your printer drivers. So you will only need to add your printer queues again.

  • IMac 3.06 GHz Intel cannot print in Snow Leopard in Text Edit or CS4

iMac/3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo/OSX.6/4gigRAM/1TerabyteHD/CS4 Design Premium/ cheap HP Deskjet D1520 Printer.
I have installed the HP Drivers from the original SnowLeopard install of the iMac, yesterday.
I have downloaded and installed from Apple the HP Drivers for Snow Leopard.
I have downloaded and installed from Apple the HP Drivers for Leopard.
    I have rebooted endlessly.
No drivers appear in printer set-up except for my Epson Perfection 1260 Photo Scanner.
Using HP Printer Utility does not recognize any print drivers I have installed in the past two days.
I tried using CUPS from the free source group and this printer is not supported in their list.
My printer worked perfectly in Leopard for printing receipts and memos.
    Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    John R

Now it's been two weeks since I brought home a 27" iMac and realized that the iMac will not SEE my HP D1520 Deskjet printer any longer.
HP emphatically states that their website driver ffor my printer and for Snow Leopard works in their labs.
Apple emphatically states that the required driver for my HP printer is within the Snow Leopard installer.
And neither vendor will tell me why after repeated installs and uninstalls, and reboots, and permission/disk repair, changing USB cables out, WHY SNOW LEOPARD WILL NOT SEE MY PRINTER, but clearly sees my scanner and an Acrobat driver.
I had another unfortunate soul who's printer is unrecognizable by Snow Leopard to tell me they bought a new printer, and Snow Leopard saw the brand new printer. That's amazing, as my printer is less than a year old. So I guess I have to gamble and buy a new printer because apple upgrades the system and I can't install Leopard which worked perfectly with my printer.
Apple, you let me down, this time.

  • Why won't Lexmark T430 printer with Snow Leopard?

Lexmark T430 will not printer with Snow Leopard. Error Message: “The printer software was installed incorrectly. Please reinstall the printer’s software or contact the manufacturer for assistance.”
The printer is connected via Ethernet from an iMac; I have an airport wireless network. Oddly, I can print wirelessly from my MacBook Pro, but not from my desktop iMac. Both computers were upgraded to Snow Leopard at the same time, but only the iMac refuses to print.
    Tried:
    -Reset printing system
-Downloaded Lexmark drivers and reinstalled them
-Connected printer directly to iMac instead of through the Ethernet switch
    -Repaired disk permissions
When ‘adding printer’ the Lexmark is recognized and configured, but it only results in the same tired error message.
    Suggestions will be appreciated.

    Hi,
A follow up on my previous report.
I installed 10.6 on an external USB drive and booted my iMac from there. Result: was able to print successfully to the T430, both via Ethernet and via USB cables. Previously, I also tried to print from the iMac (booted from the internal drive) via USB and that failed; although, as I said, I was able to print to a Canon printer. I conclude that there must be some conflict between the Lexmark drivers and something on my internal iMac hard drive.

  • Epson Wifi Printers and Snow Leopard

Just curious - Has anyone gotten one of the newer Epson Wifi printers (like and all in one) - to work with Snow Leopard? Something like the Epson Artisan 800?
    Thanks

My Artisan 800 works fine wirelessly with my Macbook and wired with my iMac. I did have to fiddle with deleting/adding printer after Snow Leopard install and then there was an automatic Epson Printer Update download from Software Update. Not sure which one did the trick, but it's working.

  • Epson C88 Won't Print with Snow Leopard

C88 won't print using Snow Leopard. Downloaded driver from Epson doesn't help.????

Like you, I'm working with an Epson C-88+. Happy with this situation, would not be exactly accurate. I have tried some different approaches, including the ones from John and Kappy. They would work just fine for about 3 days, then fail. I even went back to the Snow Leopard Install DVD/ Optional Installs/ Options.MPKG/ Printer Support and made a choice. I then went to Disk First Aid and everything was fine. Today, I went to print 1 envelope, total dismal failure. I then downloaded the EPSON Printer Drivers 2.1, I proceeded to install the drivers. Did anybody notice, this was an Apple License, not an EPSON License? Therefore, there are no assurances, that these print drivers are in fact, EPSON. Therefore, AppleCare should be required to support these Print Drivers as Apple Licensed Products. But equally so, we as 'dumb endusers' must try to work with AppleCare to solve this issue. To "pete.purvis" John and Kappy, sorry, you guys have proven yourselves to be out of the "dumb endusers group, I just want to say, THANK YOU!

  • HP LaserJet and Snow Leopard

I have a new 24 inch Apple iMac (intel) that is currently connected to a HP 4000N LaserJet printer via ethernet connection and AppleTalk. How can I use this laser printer with Snow Leopard if AppleTalk in longer available. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The easiest way to configure the jet direct is through it's built in HTTP server/configuration app.
Do you have a DHCP server on your network (Either being provided by an actual server, or router?)
By default the printer should have come configured to get an IP address from a DHCP server, unless IP was turned off, or it was assigned a local IP address before (If you bought it used.)
Look on configuration sheet. If the IP address was assigned by DHCP, the first 3 octets should match your networks (Imacs) address. IE iMac 192.168.1.x and printer 192.168.1.x. Subnet mask should match and the router should be pointing to the same place.
If this is the case. go into your web browser, and go to http://192.168.1.x (x being the last octet that matches the printers ip address.)
if the configuration page shows a "Link local" ip address IE 169.x.x.x or some other funky ip address like 10.x.x.x. It either can not find an IP server, OR it is already setup with a manual address. In which case you will have to set ip up by the front panel.
Would be happy to walk you through it, if it is like my 4500N. Or I'll download the manual.

  • In limbo between Leopard and Snow Leopard - stupidly didn't back up

I've got an old-school black MacBook, about four years old now. I never cared enough to upgrade it to Snow Leopard, but now I want Lion. So, I borrowed my parents' five-license Snow Leopard install disc and started off on the journey to upgrade to Snow Leopard, download the App Store update, then download and install Lion. I didn't get far.
First, let me say that I didn't back up my hard drive. Like an idiot. Yes, I know it was stupid, so there's no need to say anything. My previous installs (a few clean re-installs) have gone without a hitch, so I figured I'd trust Apple and just run the installation without backing up. Dumb.
The Snow Leopard installation started fine, but was interrupted when the installer said the install failed. Restart, try again. Booting from the install DVD, things seemed to be going fine a second time around -- picked my language, got to the install set-up screen, picked Macintosh HD as my installation drive. And then things stopped working. The installer said my HD could not be written to and that it needed repair. So I went to Disk Utility to try that. Repair Disk wasn't available, so I clicked Verify Disk. That got interrupted when it said the disk needed to be repaired, after which the Repair Disk button was clickable. Tried to repair, but apparently my HD is screwed beyond the capabilities of Disk Utility.
I tried to reboot the MacBook from the HD, which Disk Utility said still had Leopard running on it. The computer wouldn't boot up. Safe Boot didn't work. So, without any other real options, I thought I'd try my luck by just trying the install again. Booted up from the install DVD, and ran into the same issues. Didn't magically fix itself, of course. So my MacBook is stuck in limbo between Leopard and Snow Leopard, won't boot from the HD and won't let me repair the disk when booted from the DVD. What do I do?
I plan to try a couple third-party disk-utility programs tomorrow (8/25/11) to recover the files on my HD. There's not much I care about on there (just some iPhone photos and my resume, really), so doing a clean wipe of the HD and installing Snow Leopard is an option. But I'd of course rather be able to recover my personal files. Is this possible at this point?
Another question I have regarding a clean wipe: If I end up having to clean off the HD and lose all my data, I'll lose the iTunes configuration for my iPhone. Will iTunes be able to import my apps and settings from my phone if I plug it in?
    Thank you very much.

  • I tried copying a photo and pasting it in another event/group within iPhoto but the paste feature doesn't work.  This wasn't an issue with both Leopard and Snow Leopard.  Do you have any solutions or tips?

I bought a new MacBook Pro with OsX Lion as operating system.  I use iPhoto a lot and when I tried copying a photo then pasting it to another event/group, the 'paste' feature doesn't work.  This wasn't the case with Leopard and Snow Leopard where the 'paste' feature worked.  What I did was to paste the photo first to the desktop before transferring it to the new event/group.  I brought my Mac to the Apple store where I bought it and the technicians were themselves surprised that the 'paste' feature didn't work.  Chalked it up to glitches in the Lion os.  So how do we fix this?  I just find it absurd that a feature that used to work in Snow Leopard has been disabled in Lion, and the user still has to undergo an additional step to make it work, when new technology is supposed to make things easier for users.
Also, hasn't anyone noticed that it takes longer for the computer to boot upon opening?

Instead of copy and paste drag the photo to the new event. Or flag it and use the add flagged photos to selected event command
