Lexmark T630 network printer - always prints 2 pages per sheet

I'm trying to setup a Lexmark T630 for printing under Leopard 10.5.2. The printer prints just fine, but it always prints documents as half a sheet, thus, printing 1 a document with 1 page results in a sheet that has the page printed on one half and the other half is blank (as landscape). 2 pages will result in a landscape that has both pages on one sheet, next to each other.
Layout -> Pages per sheet is set to '1' .
I've tried setup with AppSocket,IPP or LPD , using the Lexmark provided driver (both from Apple and from lexmark.com) and a generic postscript driver.
I've tried various paper sizes (the paper is A4) , I've tried printing in landscape and portrait, scaling the pages to 50% or 200% and anything else I could think of.
Event the 'print test page' from http://localhost:631 (the CUPS web service) results in half a page, landscape, with the test page on the left side as a portrait.
Any Ideas..?

Did you try throwing away the com.apple.printing files in your <home>/Library/Preferences folder? It sounds like a preferences file, but you could also try resetting the print system by holding down the control key while clicking in the list of printers in Print and Fax Prefs.

    The printing interface has changed in preview, and whereas there used to be an option to print multiple pages per sheet, there's now only an option to print multiple copies per sheet. The latter is of no use to me, whereas printing multiple pages per sheet was very useful since I often print large documents.

    Well, in Snow Leopard I used to print PDFs from Preview, and if I recall correctly, where it now says 'copies per page', it used to say 'images per page'. So of course, I now have a couple of printouts with two copies of each page per sheet.
    But the preview tab and then the option 'layout' works. I don't understand why this interface had to change though.

  • ID3 Printing issue-multiple pages per sheet mirror image printing

    So, like the title says, I'm trying to print 4 up per sheet out of ID CS3. The first page prints fine, but all pages that follow print as mirror images. I have gone through all the print settings for InDesign and specific to the printer (Xerox 7665) to make sure that flip and mirror print is not on. Still, it keeps printing every page aside from the first mirrored. Any ideas?

    A friend of mine rang me last week with a similar problem. I didn't know what to say, it was every page after the first one printed upside down.
    To me that can't happen, they should all send at the same orientation.
    Perhaps you need to update your printer drivers. But to me it sounds like an issue with your printer and not InDesign.
    As another test
    Go to File>Print and the advanced menu and choose Print as Bitmap
    I'm not sure what that will prove though?

  • PDFs are always printed 2 pages per sheet

    My system was reformatted recently and everything had to be reinstalled.
    Acrobat Reader XI (11.0.2) and Acrobat Pro 9 (9.0.0*) are now having problems when printing PDFs: every PDF is always printed at 2 pages per sheet. The resulting 4-point type printouts are not useable.
    Word prints 1 page per sheet.
    I'm not exactly sure where to even start troubleshooting this. Any suggestions would be welcome.

    *Yes, 9.0.0. When I accepted the last automatic update, Acrobat Pro started crashing on startup. I uninstalled and reinstalled, and am very, very wary about accepting an update right now.

    Well, that was interesting.
    After running the Acrobat Cleaner from the above link, on both Acrobat Pro 9.0 and Reader 11.0.2, it looked like everything was gone.
    However, the company uses CA's IT Client Manager, and its DSM Software Delivery Catalog thinks that Acrobat Pro is still installed. So does Add/Remove Programs.
    Six system reboots and A long call with the help desk later, my case has been escalated to the CA team and we'll see what happens now.
    Reader 11.0.2 is reinstalled, and now? It can't print AT ALL. I get this instead of a printout:

    I can't find a simple solution to my situation...
    I'm using Max OSX Lion 10.7.3 and Adobe Reader X 10.1.2. 
    I want print two PDF pages onto one printed sheet, and I want to print front and back.  When I go to the print settings and select two pages per printed sheet, the sample window shows me what I'm looking for.  But when I tell it to print odd only or even only, it changes the print selection.  Here's what happens...
    Let's say I have a PDF document that is 20 pages long.  When I tell it to print two PDF pages per sheet, it shows me that the first pages printed will be PDF pages 1 and 2.  When I tell it that I want it to print odd pages only, it tells me that the first printed page will contain PDF pages 1 and 3.
    In other words, Adobe Reader wants to print the odd PDF pages instead of the odd pages of the printed document (PDF pages 1 and 2, then 5 and 6, then 9 and 10, so on).
    So that I'm being clear...
    This [  ] is a printed page.  The numbers inside the brackets represent the page numbers in the PDF document...
    What I want to print is this...

    Aside from telling it exactly which PDF page numbers to print (this would be a taxing job because I'm working with a 273 page document), is there an easy and simple way to print how I'd like?

    I would suggest to use Adobe Ilustrator. Also I get an error message when I try tp access the sample document.

  • 4 "Pages per Sheet" in Printer dialog no longer works

    I frequently print my documents to PDF 4 pages to a sheet, using the Save As PDF option in the Printer dialog (i.e., I don't have Acrobat installed). The last time I did this about 2 weeks ago, it worked fine. Today, it ignores my settings of 4 pages to a sheet and prints every page as a separate "sheet" in the PDF. The only thing I know of that has changed over the past two weeks is the update to 10.5.7. How do I fix this so I can print 4 pages to a sheet again?

    My problem is solved. I spent a lot of time on the phone with Apple support. When they mentioned I might need a printer driver update to keep up with the OS update, I noticed that I no longer had any printer installed at all. I don't know how that happened, but I will assume it had to do with the OS update.
    I plugged in a printer, added its driver (which I later noticed caused me to have a new one, plus the original one reappeared), disconnected the printer (I don't want hard copy), and now it works perfectly as it did before. I get 4 pages per sheet like I should.
    Don't ask me why the existence of a printer should matter when I am only creating a PDF. But that is what happened.

    Nope, that's a Flash-only effect. Sometimes people try to embed a SWF (Flash file) into a PDF, but that only plays like it's a movie, and doesn't work well.
    I think you should give up on the idea if you want to use PDF as the distribution method.

    Not going to work withthe way you've set up unless you place your current pages into a new file.
    In CS4 or later you can set up a facing pages A5 PORTRAIT document, then rotate the spread view tro see them stacked as they would appear on A4. When exporting or printing, check the "Spreads" box to get the A4 size with the two pages.
    Not that you'll want to start with an even page number or you'll be jumping through other hoops to get the first two pages together on a single spread.

    How can I print multiple copies of page per sheet of paper?
    I've got an image or PDF that I'd like to print 4 or more of per sheet of paper. But it can easily fit on one sheet. When I choose to print 4 copies and in the Layout section choose 4 copies per page what I get is for pages printed out with the image scaled down to a quarter of a page.
    What I'd like is the one image scaled down and printed 4 times on a single piece of paper.

    I don't completely believe that this is completely

    Nor did I say that it is. The software from which the doc is being printed is
    even more important re page layout options.
    Your statement of "It is a function of the printer driver..." is what led to that misunderstanding.
    I completely agree that the idea of 'print to PDF' is misleading and that I was mislead that all the print dialog options (like the quartz filters that do work in outputting to PDF and the # of copies that do not) should apply to creating PDF files using the print dialogue. It now says 'save to PDF' in 10.4 instead of 'output' or 'print'. I think some of my confusion is carrying over from UI decisions in 10.3.

    It's stating the obvious in reply to your statement of the obvious ("the feature you are trying to use isn't designed to work that way."). If it were designed to work in the manner that I was wanting it perform I would have never posted a question about it.
    You can say it's not commonly done and that would
    apply to anything other than printing off one full
    sized copy of any single page. Using Quartz filters
    isn't "commonly done" but it's available.
    Not true... mailing labels, multipage spreads, thumbnails, reductions/
    enlargements, ad infinitum are far more frequently done than printing
    the same content on the same sheet multiple times. As I said, however,
    there are provisions for doing so when the need arises.
    You missed the point. Functionality is presented that is far less utilized than what I was desiring to do on this platform/set of applications as compared to other platforms/sets of applications. This is why I specifically mentioned the quartz filtering. I have personally met only one other person who uses quartz filtering yet I know over a dozen that want to print in the manner I originally posted about.
    I'm sure you have seen such results & I have done
    the exact same type of output hundreds of times on
    both Windows & Mac platforms as well as others...
    but not in the manner you are attempting to get it
    done. As you've found out, that just doesn't work.
    And I've seen it performed in the manner I was attempting, furthering the frustration.
    In any program you typically do specify page layout
    before number of copies... in fact, that is the cruxt of the
    issue. But getting the same content to repeat on a single
    page is not a matter of page layout and is not a function
    of the print operation unless you're dealing with commercial
    devices.
    I guess I've just been spoiled by those big office Xerox machines. I never thought of that functionality being at all special in any way.

  • Preview : error while printing several pages per sheet

    I have a pdf file from which I would like to get a pdf with several pages per sheet. I cannot do that using acrobat through printing into a pdf file because it tells me to save it first ! So, as I did before upgrading my OS from SL to Lion, I tried to do it with Preview. The problem is that I get the following message "Error while printing" and no more information.
    - I tried with an other pdf file and I got the same problem.
    - Printing one page per sheet is OK, either into a pdf file or to an actual printer.
    - Printing several pages per sheet from Acrobat to a printer is working fine.
    - I asked to a colleague who is still using SL to do the same procedure with my file and it worked fine.
    My conclusion is that there is something fishy with Preview under Lion.
    Does anyone get into the same trouble than me ? Is there a solution even an alternative one ?

    In the printing configuration window, I selected Layout and then 2 pages per sheet, save in Pdf, select a directory and name then save. At the end of the process, I got the printing error message. Looking at the /var/log/system.log, I got an error message concerning PMSessionEndDocumentNoDialog() returning 1282.
    I am using past because I do not have the problem anymore. My MBP is a bit funny since the Lion upgrade. It looks like windows : from time to time, I get the black screen telling me that I should press the switch on button (like the famous blue screen).
    I am suspecting that XQuartz (last update) is messing-up somehow my laptop (system crashes happened when it was launched or even when it was starting).

  • Adobe Reader X Print Default - Pages per Sheet

    I have an old HP Laserjet 2200 series printer.  When printing from Adobe (no other application), the default "pages per sheet" is 2.  In the dropdown option box, 1 page per sheet is not listed!  The only solution I have found is to select "Custom" from the dropdown list and specify 1 page per sheet.  How do I correct this problem and specify Adobe's default of 1 page per sheet for all documents? 

    Are you referring to the print dialog in Reader or a driver setting?
    For one page per sheet of output, one would normally would use the Size  option as opposed to the Multiple  option which was designed for 2 or more pages per sheet (although it will let you specify a custom setting of 1 x 1 pages per sheet.

    I am using Adobe Reader 11.0.10 on Windows 7.  I have created a document using Word which has four pages set out as 2 pages per sheet double sided, landscape.  Word prints the document with pages 1 & 4 on one side and 2  & 3 on the other  (flipped on short side)  However, if I save the document in PDF format and then print it, pages 1 & 2 are on one side with 3 & 4 on the other.  Is there any way around this?  I rather not keep two versions of the same document

    I tried some things and came to conclusion, that the more pages I print the more bugs I got. Bit by bit I printed seperate pages again and replaced the wrong ones by them. But couldn't be the solution, could it?
