Lexmark X4650 not working

Hi,
I am not sure about how to post here but I cannot get my Lexmark printer working. I have Mac Mini with 10.6.2. I have tried installing all the drivers from the Lexmark site and they install fine, but when I run the Lexmark Assistant, the print is not detected. I tried changin the SSID for my network. My printer is detected and works via usb but not wireless. I then hooked it up to my old Windows XP computer and ran setup and it worked fine. Added it as shared and I see it on my Mac but same error when installing.
Any help would be great!
Thanks...mutt

Tried and no luck. I emailed them and they had me do a complete un-install and I re-installed with the driver they sent me....no luck. I asked at the Apple store and they said the same thing to try, but I have already tried the re-install trick. Anyone else having these problems since updating to 10.6.2?

  • Lexmark x4650 Not Added to Printer Setup Utility

I'm trying to set up a Lexmark x4650 as a shared printer on a wireless network. I got one computer set up and it works perfectly. I've tried setting up the second computer, a MBP, and after getting through the whole setup process it says that the printer was not added to the printer setup utility and to launch it and add it manually.
I'm sick of trying to set it up manually. Does anyone know why the setup app might not be working?

Wish I could help. The same model Lexmark is acting strange with me too. I have it wirelessly installed no problem on a windows PC and my wife's MacBook Pro but my plain ol' MacBook 13'' can't find the printer. I have to either plug it in USB or use it shared from the Pro.
Furthermore I have trouble reading the instillation cd. It makes horrible lawn mower pull cord like noises in the drive and only works after ejecting many times. Every other cd seems fine though and neither of the other two computers had trouble with it.
Like you no dice manually either.

  • Lexmark printer not working with os 10.6.8

I Have a mac laptop that i recently upgraded to os 10.6.8. I have a lexmark prospect se pro 208 printer that worked wirelessly before the update. I upgraded the lexmark drivers to match 10.6.8 but now it will not print wirelessly or when connected with a USB cable.  I tried the fix mentioned in roadhouse tech blog to replace CUPS with cups from 10.6.7 but same result. Can any one help me with this problem?
    many thanks.....rRobert

Try to delete the Lexmark print queue under Print and Fax and add a new one manually. Click on the link for the steps: http://bit.ly/Ojbyti
If it doesn't work, uninstall the Lexmark driver and download an updated driver online at www.lexmark.com.

  • Lexmark X5470 not working as a scanner in Snow Leopard

Recently I upgraded my MacBook to Snow Leopard. After the upgrade i decided to install my X5470 multifunction printer (printer, scanner Fax). Unfortunately I can install it only as a printer by using Leopard's built-in driver. However if I do this I have no scanning capability, since no devices appear in Image Capture Application.
So, I visited Lexmark's site and I downloaded "Lexmark5400_Web_Installer10.5.dmg. When I try to install it I receive the following message:
"Lexmark 5400 Web Installer 10.5 can’t be installed on this computer. The specified message could not be found for the index 17."
Any ideas how can I make the scanner work?
Thank you all in advance for your time.

I had the same problem (printer worked, but scanner and card readers did not) with my Lexmark X5470 after updating to Snow Leopard. Lexmark CS (or lack thereof) was of no help. For months, I haven't needed the scanner until today, so I dug around Lexmark's website. I found that on 11/19/2009 Lexmark released a driver file called "Lexmark 5400 Web Installer 10.6.dmg". With my hopes up, I downloaded and installed the driver. First, the bad news: it installed a "new" 5400 Series printer (in the Print & Fax Preference tab under System Preferences) but with very few options, and the tab for Scan was gone. My "original" Lexmark 5400 Series printer was listed still, but the Scan tab went to a screen that continued to say Scanner not Connected. Now, the good news: I realized after installing the driver that I hadn't restarted. So, restart I did, and, what do you know? I went back to the Print & Fax Preference tab, and I saw that the printer listings (both my original one and the new one it created) had functioning Scan tabs. In addition, the Image Capture application works once again with the X5470. Thus, I am now back in business with full functionality with the printer, scanner, and card readers.

  • Lexmark scanner not working

Since upgrading to OS X Yosemite, my Lexmark scanner gives "scan operation cancelled" when I try to scan. Printer and copier work fine. Deleted the drivers and re-installed. Also reset the printer in preferences. Also restarted. Any ideas?

What application are you using to scan?  Your scanning drivers updated?  Checked their website of updates?  Apple's site?
Did you repair permissions prior to restarting?
VueScan Scanner Software may work for your needs.

  • Lexmark Printer Not Working. Model X4580

    Hi,
    Can anyone help?
I have a Macbook Pro, running Lion. I also have a Wireless Lexmark Printer Model X4580.
Does anyone know whether there are any drivers for this printer, when I plug it in, the apple update can't find any, and I've had a look on the Lexmark site and downloaded some of the drivers they recommend, but it just won't have it!
It has worked previously with my mac when I had snow leopard, but since I've gone to Lion it just won't work.
    Thanks.
    Chris

Sounds to me like only the USB print queue was added. You'll need to add a network print queue under Print & Fax. Try these steps:
Navigate to: System Preferences > Print & Scan
    Click + .
On the Default tab, select the printer from the list of discovered printers.
A print queue will be created in Print & Scan.
Do this while the USB cable is unplugged. Please tell me how it goes.

  • Printer not working with one program

Recently upgraded my OS from 10.4 to 10.6 Reinstalled the printer as well.
    Printer: Lexmark X4650
It works fine printing pdf files from preview and documents from Open Office, but I can't get my insurance billing software to print anymore.
    Software: Customer Pro-File
    Maker: landsw.com
Base Program: FileMaker Pro Runtime 8.5v1
    Maker: filemaker.com
The grey print menu will come up, but when I click on the blue print button nothing happens and the menu doesn't go away.
I downloaded and installed the latest drivers from Lexmarks website to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have never used the software you mention but I wonder if your issue is that the print dialog is expecting some other setting to be selected? Or there could be an additional window appearing behind the print dialog that you don't see and this is expecting some response before it will print? Both of these could explain why the Print button does not appear to function.
You should also check Console (located in Applications > Utilities). This may show you why the application is not working and this log information could assist the developer with determining a solution.
One last suggestion would be to open the print menu again and see if you have the PDF button in this menu like what appears for other applications. If you do select it and see if this closes the print dialog.

  • Lexmark 1200 Series All in 1 Will not work on my MAC

I recently purchased a Lexmark 1200 series all in one an it will not work. Plug n play doesn't happen so i went through system pref, clicked printer and add printer. It seen it plugged in via usb so i clicked it then it said select drive. The driver for this model isn't there. I did a software update, didn't work so I searched online and cant find anything and neither did the official lexmark site.
Don't know what model mac I have. All I know is its a new mac book so ignore what my OS is.
    Thanks

    Hi mrburgess187!
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I went to Lexmark's website and under OS compatibility I didn't see your printer listed for OS X compatibility.

  • Lexmark Genesis s815 scaner is not working on mac mini

Hello everybody. Please help if you can!
I recently bought my mac mini and migrated my files and all the data from my previous mac mini, some of the files are comming originally from my old powerbook. I wrote this introduction just because people from lexmark geeek customer support said that this migration and upgrades from Snow Leopard could be an actual and essential problem.
    Now the issue.
I have this new stanning lexmark genesis s815 multifunctional (printer, fax, scanner) device. The scanner does not work. I have updated the driver, the frimware (all available on Lexmark supprot page), downloaded separate scan center application, but nothing works. All the possible ways to scan (from printer utility on the system preferences, from image capture, from the lexmark genesis itself, and from the scan centre application) are not working. The only thing I can do is to scan on email and then download it to my computer.
The scan centre does not open at all
The image capture comes up withthe device appearing in its left column, but clicking on the device leads to nowhere.
Opening scanner from printer utility in the system preferences comes up with error 9931
Scanning from the device itself  gives me communication error on both wifi and usb modes
    Please help if you can

  • Lexmark x4650 doesn't work over wifi

I recently bought a Lexmark x4650 wireless printer. I followed the install instructions that it came with it then updated the software, but my Mac just doesn't recognize it wirelessly, but it prints fine when connected via USB. My Linux laptop can print over the wifi no problem, so it's not the printer.

I would expect that with the Linux laptop you would have needed to create a TCP/IP network queue rather than relying on some form of network discovery. I suggest that you could use the same technique on the Mac.
When adding the printer, select the IP icon and then select LPD or HP Jetdirect for the protocol. You can then enter IP address of the printer and the respective driver in the Print Using menu.
If this new queue fails to print, open Network Utility and use the Ping function to check that the Mac can get a response from the Lexmark.

  • Why won't my macbook pro recognize my wireless printer lexmark x4650?

My macbook pro will not recognize my lexmark x4650  printer to use wirelessly.  I recently had to change router and modem through comcast and have not been able to print wirelessly since.  I can print using a usb and the pc in our house is able to print wirelessly. I installed updates for apple, lexmark, uninstalled and reinstalled printer, tried adding printer manually using directions I found on forum discussions.  Any other suggestions?

I had almost the same thing happen the other day - kept getting a message that my printer was not connected. I went to the printer setup on the printer's panel and the IP address was correct, everything looked as if it should be working. So I just reset my router - figuring that would fix the problem. No go. What I finally ended up doing was resetting my router to factory settings and setting it up anew.
And that's what worked for me.

  • Lexmark x4650 cannot be added

    Hello,
I have a Lexmark X4650 and I follow all the installation for its wireless setup and I complete it sucesfully.
When I go to print there is no printer installed and my lexmark does not appear on the add printer list.
When I plug it in via USB it appears on the list instantly.
I know the wireless is working as I can print from my old PC.
Any ideas on what could be wrong?
Thanks for the help, it is very appreciated.

You'll need to add a network print queue manually. Check this article for the steps: http://bit.ly/QVyjmO

I bet this is too late but...
Are you trying to print through the airport express wirelessly or the built in wireless of the lexmark? If you want to use the airport express, there is no need to mess with the wireless printing on the lexmark at all. The airport express will be easy to set up, all the wireless setups through the printers are a pain.

  • Why does HP C4180  not work

I last night walked into the Apple store and purchased the HP c4180 to get it home and find out from the HP website that Apple Extreme does not support a printer that the Apple stores carry. What the **** is with this, I had plans to switch all computers slowly to MAC's but **** if I'm going to have issues where I purchase a new product from a company and they don't tell you that will not work with the products you just told them that buying to work with. Has anyone had any luck with getting the Apple extreme to work with any printers so far I've tryed both a Lexmark and now an HP with no luck...

The c4180 is not a printer per se, but an all-in-one printer, scanner, copier.
You can read about compatibility issues and work-rounds inthis thread
I guess you didn't tell the Apple Store what you needed to do with the c4180, but I suggest that if the work-rounds are too complex or do not work for you, you return it to the store and discuss your requirements.
