Lexmark Z52- Where is my print utility?

Since upgrading to 10.5 I am no longer able to clean my print heads as the utility that used to be in the print queue is now gone. I downloaded the latest drivers and the printer works but needs head cleaning.
Am I missing something?

Open Print & Fax preference, double-click on your printer listed in the left side listing, click on the Info icon in the toolbar of the window that opens. Whatever options are supported by the driver should be indicated in that dialog. If the option you desire is not available, then the driver does not support it.
You can clean the heads directly from the printer.

Lexmark x4650 Not Added to Printer Setup Utility

I'm trying to set up a Lexmark x4650 as a shared printer on a wireless network. I got one computer set up and it works perfectly. I've tried setting up the second computer, a MBP, and after getting through the whole setup process it says that the printer was not added to the printer setup utility and to launch it and add it manually.
I'm sick of trying to set it up manually. Does anyone know why the setup app might not be working?

Wish I could help. The same model Lexmark is acting strange with me too. I have it wirelessly installed no problem on a windows PC and my wife's MacBook Pro but my plain ol' MacBook 13'' can't find the printer. I have to either plug it in USB or use it shared from the Pro.
Furthermore I have trouble reading the instillation cd. It makes horrible lawn mower pull cord like noises in the drive and only works after ejecting many times. Every other cd seems fine though and neither of the other two computers had trouble with it.
Like you no dice manually either.

Look for cloud solutions such as DropBox, OneDrive, SugarSync or others. They are all cloud based services that sync documents between computers via the cloud. Of course another solution is simply a flash drive formatted in exFat so that Macs and Windows computers can read it.

Where do I download the Epson Printer Utility?

I recently purchased a 24" iMac. Previous to that I had a PowerPC PowerBook. I used Migration Mgr. to port all of my files from my external HD back to my new iMac. Somehow, in all of that, my Epson Printer Utility vanished. It is not to be found anywhere on the external HD. I have no idea.
Yesterday, I downloaded the new Intel Epson printer drivers form Apple. My Epson R2400 now prints as it should. However, my colors are off which tells me that my ink levels are low. But without the printer utility, I have no idea cartridges need replacing.
I have searched without any success for Epson's Printer Utility. If anyone knows of a source for this I would be very grateful for the link.

After reading your post I didn't know whether to scream or cry. I think you just solved this mystery. Not in a good way mind you, but at least I now understand these issues a lot better.
To back up a bit: I did find a link for Epson drivers for my printer a few days back which I downloaded. And it is indeed the Gutenprint driver. This then explains how and why I spent all of today ******* in the wind trying to figure out why I could not -
1. Get my existing Epson Printer Utility to launch to check my low ink cartridge levels and;
2. Get my Epson Printer Utility 4 to launch.
All of these issues were due to the fact that I was using the Gutenprint Epson driver. Just great. Guess I will have to use my old PowerBook to print out my business cards. I am sure there will be other obstacles ahead with this issue. IMO, all of this is beyond stupid. There must be some other way to check my ink levels.
Anyway, because of your post, I now understand how all of this came about. Thank you for your very informative post.

Problem with HP Printer Utility and Mac OSX 10.5.4

I have a problem with HP printer Utility. When a standard user adds a new paper profile HP Printer Utility asks to type an administrator's name and password to allow HP printer Utility to make changes. Is it possible to avoid this? Otherwise I have to give admin rights to every user because they have to be able to add new papers. HP printer Utility sharing and permisssions are set to read and write to everyone.

The Printer Utility for my Epson CX 5000 is missing

I hope there is help for me here. I have 2 software updates for my Epson CX5000 all-in-one printer listed in the Software update. The Printer Utility file/folder/software is missing. I have done multiple searches with no success in finding it in my iMac with the newly upgraded OSX Mavericks. It is so difficult to get the software for this printer. Unable to get it from the Epson site. Can get only from Mac Software update. Is there a way to remove the software updates which are the same and start anew? Updates are dated June 19th.

I don't recall where I found this info but here is what I did. It is so simple that I wish I had found it several weeks ago. I removed all printers then rebooted.I don't remember if I turned printer off and/or unplugged it from USB on machine or not. It was on and connected to machine before I restarted. Mac OS recognized printer and the utility and what I needed was all there. I really would like the most current Utility for my Printer but I have the basics now so that makes me happy.

Where is the printer queue stored - and how to delete all queue jobs?

I ran into a problem after I installed the Roll paper feeder on my Epson R1800. All of a sudden files will not print anymore.
One thing that may cause a problem is that there are two previous files (pdf I think) that someone else tried to print yesterday looking for a different printer on regular Letter size paper that are still in the queue because they did not print successfully. Everytime I tell Photoshop to print my photo on the Roll paper, those two old jobs pop back up on the printer queue gui and the system stops saying "wrong paper type for this job". Then I delete those two old jobs so there is only the Roll paper one left but it just sits there and wont print. When I launch the utility to check is all is kosher, sometimes it will give me the ink cartridge levels without a problem but sometimes it claims a communication error. I have re-checked the connection and everything and all is OK. When I launch the printer utility and tell it to print a Nozzle Check test, it prints it without a problem so there really is no prob with the communication.
When I restart the computer and the printer and try again, the two old jobs that I deleted in the previous step always reappear. So I wonder if, those two pdf jobs are kinda screwing with the system and should be deleted. But as i said, everytime I delete them, they look like they disappear from the list but my photo job just sits there on the queue without printing. The jobs are not stopped and there is no Hold on this one. If I quit and re-launch the print job, the old ones re-appear in the queue. So they must be stored someplace and are not deleting correctly. Does anyone know where this cue file is stored and what it is called? I have looked in Application Support and in Preferences but I can't see anything that looks like it.
I have downloaded the drivers from Epson for this printer again but that doesn't do anything either. I am using 10.4.11 on an 24 inch iMac intel 2.4Ghz. I only use the stock Apple utilities, no funky third party addon except for the Epson drivers. The printer utilities are:
Epson Printer Utility v3.01
Stylus R1800 utility v4.7(161.10)

Sooo, it seems we have some kind of Permission problem, have you Repaired Permissions ad rebooted?

After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 5 things it does are...
Correct any Disk problems.
Repair Permissions.
Clear out Cache Files.
Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files!
Disconnect the USB cable from any UPS so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.
Or we could maybe go back to that window, click on Printers, remove it? (Thinking perhaps the jobs will go away with the printer!?)
Or would you like to delve into the hidden folders/files to try to handle this?

Epson Print Utility missing

I insatlled the latest Guten driver so I could use the automatic paper cutter. I did not realize I would loss the support for the utilities. Which I find utterly stupid. Why would they take that away?? Who wants a printer that they are unable to clean the heads on or check your ink levels???
I did a search and see that I have the Epson Print Utiliy folder in a previous sytem. Is this something I can use? I tried to copy it and drag it into the Libaray/Printer folder it did not work. How do I get it into the application folder where it belongs?
If I can use Pacifist to do this can someone instruct me on how to do that??

Did you add a printer using the Epson drivers? You may not want to use that printer to print, but it might be necessary to have a print queue with the Epson drivers established before the Utility will recognize it.
I would try the Gutenprint Utility but I am pretty sure it does not support the Epson Stylus Photo 2200.
Is there a basis for that statement? There are some Epson printers that do not work with the Gutenprint Epson Inkjet Printer Utility. Most will work, however.

Printer Utility Canon S9000

I recently switched over to Mac and I am trying to get my Canon S9000 printer to function properly. I downloaded the print drivers from Canon's site and the printer works fine. The only problem is I can't find the printer utility (I figured it was with the drivers) and therefore can't clean the heads or determine how much ink I have left. Anyone have any ideas? Its suppose to be in the utility folder but I can't find it.

For most of the Canon printers, the utility is part of the driver software. If the printer is connected via USB to the Mac, you should be able to access the utility by opening the printer queue and selecting the Utility icon. Note that this Utility, and therefore the icon, is only available when the printer is connected to the Mac via USB. If you are sharing the printer via Windows or via a print server, then the utility is not available.
If the printer is connected to the Mac via USB and for whatever reason the Utility icon is not available, then you can access the utility via ./Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinter/Utilities (where . stands for your hard drive). In this directory you will see the Canon BJ (or IJ) Utility. Double click to run the utility, which gives you access to all the maintenance functions.

Print Utility Missing

Hi, I've been having problems with my HPLaserJet 4050N and I went to use PrintUtility in the Utilities Apps Folder and it is AWOL and I haven't a CLUE how...I saw on here where someone answered this exact question at almost this time last year and had posted on his website the Print Utility App in a zip, Arthur Joyce, i think it was, however that's not there anymore...anyone have any idea how to either get it off of Pacifist or anywhere else??

Restoring Lost OS X Files
If you erase or otherwise "lose" an OS X system application or utility (such as Mail or Disk Utility, for example) you can restore them without having to reinstall OS X.
Download the shareware utility Pacifist. Read the documentation. Use Pacifist to extract a fresh copy of the missing application from the file archives on your OS X Installer disc. The file archives are usually found on the installer disc in the /System/Installations/ folder.
After restoring the application you need to reinstall the OS X Combo Updater for the version of OS X you currently have installed. This assures the new copy of the application is updated to the current version.
Lastly, it's a good idea to repair permissions.

I haven't used Lexmark printers/utilities but I would say the answer is no, it shouldn't have the red cross through the print icon. However I notice that next to the icon is a drop-down menu, which has a title of Print Name. Since there is no printer showing in this menu, I would guess that this could be the cause of the red x.

HP Printer Utility for Mac

Recently I downloaded printer drivers/software for Mac Maverick OS for my ENVY 120 and Officejet 4630 printers. On both of the installs of the software, it said after closing the install window, another wndow would open automatically to finish the intallation of the HP Printer Utility. Neither did this, even after multiple reinstall attempts. I can see the HP Printer Utility in my Applications file, however, when I try to open it, it says it is defective or incomplete. I like the funtionality of the HP Printer Utility and it is referenced a lot in trouble shooting documentation. What to do? Thanks, Dave

Hi MacBookDave, Thank you for the reply and the additional information! It's strange that you don't have the HP Uninstaller, but that is okay, we will just have to take a slightly different approach. I may ask you to repeat some a step or two that you've already done, but it's because of the other steps we're doing. I promise every step has a purpose First, I'd like you to drag and drop the Hewlett Packard folder from your Applications into the Trash Can. Once that is done I'd like you to follow steps 1-15 in this post from to get the operating system driver for HP removed as well. Then I'd suggest that you download and run the software for just the Officejet 4630 from this link here. Once that is done you should have an HP Uninstaller in your Hewlett Packard folder. When you run it, please hold down the Control, Option and Command keys (the three to the left of your space bar) on your keyboard while clicking the Continue option then let go and proceed as normal. This turns the Uninstaller into a Scrubber. Once that is done, please do a verify/repair of your disk permissions again to make sure everything is where it needs to be before installing the Officejet 4630 from the download again. Make sure everything installed properly with it before trying the Envy 120. Let me know how this goes!

No Printer Utility found

I bought a used G5 with 10.5.7. I don't see a Printer Utility in the Utilities Folder - or anywhere - that I can use to clean my heads, check ink levels, ect. Where did it go? Can I drag my Printer Utilities from my old G4 Bootable HD into the Utilities folder of my new G5 (I was using OS 10.4 on my G4).

There should be a utility for your specific printer manufacturer in /Library/Printers/<your printer manufacturer>. You'll probably have to dig another level or two deeper. You can also open the printer's queue from Print & Fax Prefs and access the utility that way.

Cause and Prerequisites
The SAP script form output could not be easily modified for new taxes like ECS and AED due to exisitng technical constraints. Hence the output is modified to an excel download to incorporate all the changes to layout modifications.
Prerequisite note - Apply the code corrections for J2I5 transaction as per the note 956796.
Solution
In order to incorporate the new rules and changes and to handle the existing gap, a new revised format for register reports has been introduced.
The user now has the option to select the output format of the register reports. For this we have provided radio button on the selection screen of J2I6 where the user can choose the format in which the reports are to be displayed. We have introduced the new rules and changes and taken care of the existing gaps only in the Excel report.
From now on, we will not be supporting the SAP script form although it would continue to function as it does presently.
In order to implement the solution provided for the Excel download format,please do the following -
Apply the code corrections for J2I5 transaction as per the note 956796.
Apply the code corrections for J2I6 as per this note.
Run J2I5 for the required period and Extract the data for the register selected ( which continues to function as earlier).
In J2I6, select the register for which the report is to be generated and select from the radio button provided in which format the report is to be displayed.
I)For SAP script form, one get the report in the SAP form layout as it functions now.
II) For Excel download, the report is generated in the excel format.
Process to be followed to get the register report in Excel download format.
1)Run J2I6 with the Excel form radiobutton selected.
2)Save the output file with the naming as per your convention.
3)Now open the particular template corresponding to the register for which the report is run. These templates which have been provided as attachment in this note, contain the macros for the
corresponding register

For RG23C PART I - tempCpart1.xls
For RG23C PART II - tempCpart2.xls
For PLA - tempPLA.xls
For RG23D - tempD.xls
For RG1 - temprg1.xls
These templates would not have any data and would just have the associated Macro. It is important to have this open for the layout changes to be affected in the saved ouput.Please open only that template for which the register report is taken.
4) Then on the excel output which you have saved in point 2 for a particular register , choose the following options.
A) Select Tools -> Macro->Macros from the menu.
B) Run the Macro for the register from the list specified above in point 3.
OR
C)On the excel output which you have got for theregister in point 2, press 'ctrl + shift+m' key
together. This is the hot key provided which will run the macro. You will get the required output with all the data intact.You are advised to follow either step A and B or step C.
Execution of step 4 runs the macro on the excel, which does the final formatting required for that particular register.
Please find the attached document 'J2I6excel.zip' which provides the screen shots explaining the process to be followed for Excel download.
