I also have problem with de external_sdcard (this must be mounted as ext_sdcard), but the system doesn't see this.
I tried with 3 different sd-card (128M, 8G, 8G) - but these worked before.
Have been tried:
  - cache + data/factory reset
  - fixed with e2fsk '/data' - this have bad nodes
Consulting the '/dev/block/platform/omap/omap_hsmmc.1' - it is only 'mmcblk0' - this in internal ROM (mounted as sd_card).
Also i rewrite the /system (with fresh img).
Nothing of these doesn't help me.
I extract the log from 'dmesg', i try to find txt with "MMC"
-- this is internal ROM(mmcblk0) , mounting as - "/sdcard"

  • New (refurb) Ideatab S2109 is stuck at 4.0.3

I just receivedmy S2109 from the Lenovo Outlet.  It says it is on v. 4.0.3.  I rooted it and then tried to take the factory upgrade.  It failed on the upgrade, so I entered Recovery mode and manually installed the Update.zip file.
It looked like it installed the update, but when I go back into the System screen it still says 4.0.3 and it does not find a newer version available.
Is there a way to verify if the update worked?  What is the latest stock rom version for the S2109 and can I download it for manual install?
My biggest beef with 4.0.3 is that my widgets are not resizable and my WIFI sometimes doesn't reconnect when coming out of sleep mode.

I was having this problem yesterday - I tried backing up by pressing sync, and by pressing update. In both cases, the back up froze at about 15%. I even let it run overnight, and someone on one of the threads I read suggested patience, but to no avail.
What finally worked for me was updating iTunes. I suspect it won't be as simple as that for everyone, but I wanted to let you know that it worked for me! I installed the update, restarted, and then pressed sync (I wasn't updating because this was my final backup of the 3GS before I got the iphone 4). The back up took about 2 minutes - the fastest one I have ever witnessed. Best of luck to all of you still having problems.

  • Part # for T400 ultrabay battery, and where to buy?

The Lenovo Web site does not seem to sell an UltraBay battery that's compatible with the T400. Or maybe it's compatible with one of them, and the T400 isn't listed for some reason.
What is the part number for the UltraBay battery that works with the T400? If it's not sold by Lenovo, why not, and where can I get one?
And is it true that the UltraBay batteries drain completely before the main battery is used so they only last a few months? If so, will this problem be fixed?

To get the part number for the UltraBay battery, check the T400 accessories page in tabook
Yes, the UltraBay battery drains first.  It's working as designed and not broken, so there's nothing to fix.

  • Can you use a soft tip stylus type pen on an IdeaTab A1107 Tablet screen?

I recently purchased an IdeaTab A1107 Tablet, which I believe is the same as the IdeaTab A1, just with the Android 4.0 OS.  My wife is having trouble always hitting the correct buttons on the screen (7" screen).  Can you use a soft tip stylus type pen or other stylus on an IdeaTab A1107 Tablet screen?  Would that be easier than tapping the screen with your finger?
    Thank You ........
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You can use a stylus that's sold as being designed to work with "capacitive screens" - not just any stylus will do.
You can also use any conductive object as a stylus on the A1 screen, as long as your skin is touching the part of the object that is conductive.

  • Lenova IdeaTab A2109 - new owner with questions

I just bought the Lenovo IdeaTab A2109 Tablet at a Office Depot store on sale last week for $229.99 and I have some questions if anyone can help please.
    1) I tried connecting the tablet to 3 different Windows PC laptops via the USB cord, but all 3 different laptops failed to read the tablet as an external drive. Is this not possible? My Samsung 7.7 Tab tablet is able to connect to my PC laptop. Both tablets of mine are running Android 4.0.4.
    2) Is there any easy way to take off the lid to insert/remove the micro-SD card? Whoever designed the cover should be sh@t! That's part of the reason why I want this tablet to be read by my laptop so I can transfer files directly to the memory card to bypass this crazy lid/cover design. So far the best solution I could come up with is to use my girlfriend's hair clip which is really thin and wide enough to insert into the slot to pry off the freakin lid. Just nuts.
    3) I bought the terrible screen protector from Office Depot that cost around $25.00 and there is air bubbles galore, just terrible! Can anyone recommend a good screen protector that applies easily (non-wet application) and doesn't leave air bubbles?
    4) Is there a semi hard/soft silicone case that covers the back and sides for this tablet, similar to what's available for phones? I can only find folio book cases for this tablet.
    5) Does anyone know if this USB adapter cord will work in plugging into the Lenova tablet and connecting to a USB thumb drive stick for accessing/transferring files?  See link here:
    http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SM-ET-R205UBEGSTD-MicroUSB-Connector-Galaxy/dp/B004ULZD7U/?tag=android...
    6) How can I do a soft reset? Is shutting down tablet and turning back on the same as a soft reset?
    7) Something odd happened the other day whereby the keyboard was non-responsive for entering letters, and some of the built-in icons were also non-responsive (eg: the weather icon, time icon). I had to do a factory reset and this seemed to have solve the problem. I'm slightly concerned this might happen again, as I don't want to do another hard reset to solve this potential problem after I've installed many apps later in the future.
Overall, so far I'm pretty satisfied with this tablet, especially for the $229.99 sale price that I got. The screen is actually pretty decent, and I don't see why so many reviewers on the internet are bashing the screen. The only potential "problem" is that it's hard to view the screen when viewing from a higher level looking down on the screen. But how many users really do that? Even viewing the screen from the sides seems pretty acceptable to me. Granted the Lenova screen is nothing compared to my Samsung 7.7 Tab with its super amoled screen, but for simply viewing web pages and entertainment stuff, the Lenova screen is more than sufficient. Battery life appears to be very good, the quality of construction is decent too, and I really like the HDMI outlet for mirroring Netflix movies to my TV screen. Another fantastic great "feature" is the micro-USB port which is the same port I use for charging my cell phone...very convenient. I really dis-like proprietary charging cables, such a pain.
    Thanks! Casey
PS: I asked these questions in an entirely different forum, but got no response

    Hi Casey!
I bought mine from Office Depot too.  I have been pretty happy with it, hope you are!  I don't find all the reviews about the screen being terrible to be true.  I think the screen is just fine.  Anyway, on to the questions:
    1)  I have had no issue connecting my tablet to my Windows 7 PC.   There is a mode known as USB Host Mode that you might need to turn on to get it to work, but mine worked right away.
    2)  Yea, this lid is a pain.  I finally pried mine off, put in my 32 GB card, and hope to never have to take it off again.  Hope I can get a replacement when I break it.  And I am sure I will.
    3)  I got my screen protector from a local cell phone store.  They put it on for me, because I have had the exact experience you have had.  I just cant stand looking at all those bubbles, but the people in the store were pros.
    4)  The case I have is for an Amazon Fire 8.9".  Nice leather folding cover, and it was on clearance at Staples.
    5)  Sorry, no idea.
    6)  Not sure what that means, but it shuts down and boots up so fast, I just do that.
    7)  I have not had any issues yet, but also have not used it extensively.
Hope that is some help anyway!
    George

  • **A2107 IdeaTab Locked up Hard on Lock Screen ** Unresponsive ** Temporary Solution

I bought two of these devices for my children for christmas. My son had been setting his up to kind of clone his phone for ease of use I guess. As he was unlocking it from a sleep it Locked up Hard. One would have thought that it was bricked. Everything became unresponsive. I let it sit for a good hour trying to hold down the Power button for different durations. Nothing was working. I then took the small back cover off that conceals the camera and SD slot. I came across a small hole with a white dot in it. I stuck a Paper clip in it and voila, it powered off.  I was then able to reboot the phone.
What I have found that I assume is the culprit is poor development of this system.  It seems to me that the memory management part of the kernel is not tweaked for optimal performance of this sytem. In a nutshell the Specs say it has 512mb RAM Space. I have watched his tablet get down to only 32mb RAM free space With very minimul use, the tablet becomes absolutely unusable. A good temp fix for this is to install Advance Task Killer from the market or some kind of memory management app. I set his to Kill Apps every hour with Moderate Security. This typically tends to free up about 300mb RAM for use.
A more permanent solution would be to ROOT your device (This will most likely void any warranty you may have, and I imply no warranty that this will work) and install CoD Tweaks, Maybe a Custom ROM if any are available. With it Rooted you can also install Titanium Backup from the Market and Freeze apps such as those Bloatware apps that come preinstalled and are always started because Lenovo made it do that.
I felt like sharing this because I am sure there are others that are having the same issue I did. Just google it you'll find them
Oh and my daughters tablet I added task killer to right after first boot so she has had no problems at all. I Hope that if JB is pushed to this device that better developement on the Kernel Side will be done to help this little gem out. I really do like this tablet I may even buy myself one to replace my in-dash stereo system in my car
I've had a lot of devices through the years. With those years and devices comes a little bit of knowledge that may be of use here.

@ crankbait33 I experience it awhile ago of my a2107a-H ideatab and same as you do I sit it in an hour for fixing it. I almost gave up but I try to search for this problem and i found out your blog. Because Lenovo did not put to the manual where the reset button located for this simple problem..Anyway, Thank You for sharing this information. Absolutely working!

  • Ideatab A2107A power issue

I have had this tablet for almost 4 months now, but a couple of days ago it started to shut off when it goes into sleep mode or shuts off randomly while being used. It was fully charged when this started (after the battery  was close to dead). Currently, I can only get it to work if it is plugged into the charger, but now it will not come on for anything. I have tried the hidden reset button and I have done the press and hold the volume up + power button (and also the volume down + power button). Is there anything that can be done for this tablet or is it a lost cause?

    All,
I've had my IdeaTab A2107A for about 9 months.  This past week, while on vacation and needing it the most, it just quit. After thinking about the situation, I concluded it must be a battery issue.  When I got home (BTW, my unit is out of warranty), I decided to take it apart.  Sure enough, instead of using a jack and plug like your cordless phone uses, Lenovo uses some kind of funky, two part plastic clamp.  This clamp fits over five wires that connects the battery to the tablet, two black, one white, and two red.  When I poked at the plastic, it crumbled into several pieces. To make a long story short, under a magniffying glass, I lined up the wires, used a sewing needle with a drop of Super Glue in the eye, and glued each wire back into contact with the power points.  I wasn't a pretty sight, but it booted up!!!!  That was four days ago and everything is still working.
This process is not for the faint of heart. It worked for me but might well destroy your unit.  I don't know how long my repairs will last either. Proceed at your own risk.
As I say in all my posts, Lenovo was no help at all. I will never by a Lenovo product again.
    Good luck

  • What's wrong with my Lenovo Idea Tablet S2109?

When I try to charge my Lenovo Idea Tablet S2109, it first beeps once then the monitor turns on and appears the Lenovo logo, but then in a very short period, it turns blank and the whole beeping and blinking process keeps on repeating. Is it something wrong with it? Is it charging? And if it is a problem, how can I solve it? HELP!!!! Please!!!!!

  • Query help, subtract two query parts

    Hi,
    I am beginner of PL/SQL and have a problem I couldn’t solve:
    Table (op_list):
    Item     -     Amount -     Status
    Item1     -     10     -     in
    Item2     -     12     -     in
    Item3     -     7     -     in
    Item1     -     2     -     out
    Item2     -     3     -     out
    Item1     -     1     -     dmg
    Item3     -     3     -     out
    Item1     -     2     -     out
    Item2     -     5     -     out
    Item2     -     2     -     in
    Item3     -     1     -     exp
Would like to get result of query (subtract amount of 'out/dmg/exp' from 'in' ):
    Item - Amount left
    Item1     -     5
    Item2     -     6
    Item3 -     3
I wrote code that returns sum of all incoming items and sum all out/dmg/exp items, but couldn’t solve how to subtract one part of querry from another. Or maybe there is a better way. Also worried what happens if there is no 'out/dmg/exp' only 'in'
    select item.name, sum(op_list.item_amount)
    from op_list
    inner join item
    on op_list.item = item.item_id
    where op_list.status = 'in'
    group by item.name
    union
    select item.name, sum(op_list.item_amount)
    from op_list
    inner join item
    on op_list.item = item.item_id
    where op_list.status = 'out'
    or op_list.status = 'dmg'
    or op_list.status = 'exp'
    group by item.name
    Return:
    Item1     -     10      [10 in]
    Item1     -     5     [2+1+2]
    Item2     -     14     [12+2]
    Item3     -     7
    Item3     -     4     [3+1]
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
We can also use simple inline views to get what we need.
    select a.item,a.amount-b.amount Balance from
    (select item,sum(amount) Amount from op_list
    where status = 'in'
    group by item) a,
    (select item,sum(amount) Amount from op_list
    where status in ('out','dmg','exp')
    group by item) b
    where
    a.item=b.item
    order by item;
    ITEM       BALANCE
    Item1                      5
    Item2                      6
    Item3                      3Regards,

  • What is the correct part number for dvi to vga adapter for macbook pro model A1260

Can someone tell me the Apple part number for the DVI to VGA adapter that came with a Macbook Pro model A1260? (Early 2008)
My adapter has reached the end of useful life.
    Thanks!

You have a MacBook Pro 15" Early 2009 (MacBook Pro 4,1)
The Mac's port is a Dual-link DVI (VGA, Composite and S-video with adapter)
The DVI connector  connects to the Dual link-DVI port, thus you need a DVI to VGA adapter.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Micro%20Accessories/DVIVGA/
You also can search the Apple store online for the part, but it's so basic and simple that paying more for Apple's version is just for looks.

  • Animated Gif with large base image & small animated part.

    Hello guys
I'm not really sure how to explain that, due to my limited English comprehansion. I will try with images.
I can easily create animated gif out of multiple layers, given each layer is identical, with small changes accuring over time.
But I yet to figure out an animated gif, that uses one large image for the base, and only small part of it is animated.
I always get the animated part working, without the large base applying across all the frames. All it does, is flashes once
the frame is reached and then moves on to being transparent, showing only the small animated part.
For example, this is a GIF made with Galaxy S4, of my friend playing with his phone, imported into PS CS6. On the Galaxy,
after I record the GIF, I can use my finder to touch, mask and freez parts I don't want to move, and leave only small, animated bit.
When I import it to PS, it shows one layer with full image, and bunch of frames with the animation part only.
    http://i.imgur.com/UAiopQA.jpg
    http://i.imgur.com/7XOGGV6.jpg
Problem is, once the image is open with PS, I'm not able to export it to keep it working in the same manner. Given the Samsung's
gifs are 8 to 10mb, it's hard to edit it, to make it more size friendly.
The gif clearly works the way I describe, so there is a setting or method I don't know about.
If PS is not best tool for editing GIF, what other apps would you recommand I use for it?
Thank you for the taking the time to read
    best regards
    Monica

This has been an ongoing issue for me since I switched from Powerpoint to Keynote. Most of the animated gifs with transparent backgrounds that I used with Powerpoint are no longer transparent in Keynote. You may want to search for those earlier threads on this topic...
To summarize: I've had to open up my animated gifs in After Effects and use the Color Key effect to restore transparency, with mixed success.
    Good luck!

  • Why does FireFox truncate part of an E-mail of more than one page when I try to print it out? How can I sent an E-mail blaet to several but only show one name o

When I try to print out an E-mail that is longer than one page, part of the 2nd page is truncated. I then have to go to Safari to print out the entire E-mail without part of it being truncated.
When I have multiple E-mail addresses on a single E-mail, how can I send the E-mail so that each recipient only sees his/her name and E-mail address rather than everyone else that the E-mail is addressed to?
    Please advise.
    Thank you.
    Bill Leete

Some style rules that Firefox handles well on the screen can cause this problem. Many email sites have a print button which simplifies the message format and removes navigation elements, etc., and Firefox generally handles print-formatted pages better. If your email site doesn't have print-formatted pages or those do not print, a "hack" is to select the text you want to print and then choose the Selection option in the print dialog.
To hide email addresses from recipients, you need to place them in the BCC field. What do you put in the TO field in that case? You can use your own address.
