LG 3G ... camera will not focus

I recently started having a problem with my camera. All the pictures I now take are very blurry. Its like the camera will not focus. Lens is cleaned and does not have any scratches or damage. Front face camera works perfect. Anyone have any idea what could be the issue?

Hi SMoores10- Let's get that shutter snapping again! Does the camera respond to focus when taping the screen? Are you using the default Camera application? Does the camera respond the same when taking pictures with other apps like Instagram, Snapchat or 3rd party Camera app?
Thank you,

I updated to 8.1.3 and my rear camera will not focus.   I erased and reinstalled and still have the problem.  Any advice?

    Hello jonesrob,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I see that your photos and video taken with the rear camera on your iPhone are not in focus after updating to iOS 8.1.3.  When you restored your iPhone, did you restore from a backup?  If so then I would like you to please restore to the factory settings by following the directions in the article below.

If you had already restored to the factory settings and the issue persists, then it's time to seek service for your iPhone.

  • I have an iphone 4 and my camera will not focus.  Has anyone else had this problem?

I have an iphone 4 and my camera will not focus when I try to take a picture or a video.  Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with it?

    Hi there jeri289,

Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

  • Camera will not focus

suddenly my iphone 4s will not focus on the main camera ?

I have the same issue, looks no one in Apple can help us

  • My camera will not focus close up, My camera will not focus close up

When I want to take a close up of say a document or use my laser reader it will not focus.
Any suggestions what could be causing it?

    Hello Robert,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPhone camera.  I recommend following steps 3-8 below when experiencing an issue like this:
    Camera is not functioning
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Third-party cases can interfere with the autofocus/exposure feature and the flash (iPhone 4 only); try removing the case if you have image-quality issues with photos.
After recording begins, you cannot readjust focus until you stop recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll. Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

  • IPhone 4S camera will not focus

My iPhone 4S camera is not focusing, it is the camera on the back. One time I tried to take a photo of a document on paper and it just wouldn't focus on the writing, I turned my phone off and on and then it seemed to be working and focusing again. Recently today I tried doing the same thing but it wouldn't work. I tried turning it off and on but still no luck, a friend told me it was because of the 6.0.1 update that it wasn't focusing but I'm not sure. If someone can help me out that would be really appreciated, thanks

when you are viewing the object with the camera tap on the object you see on your screen to make the camera focus on it

  • My rear camera will not focus on my iPhone 6plus, I updated to 8.2 today to see if it fixed it but it didn't, what is the reason for my camera to just stop working?

My camera doesn't focus anymore, I didn't drop it or get it wet either. The front camera still works like it should. I even updated my phone to 8.2 today and still it didn't fix the problem.

    Hello Jeremy76504,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are having an issue with the camera on your iPhone not focusing as you would expect. In this situation, I would recommend reading over and working through the troubleshooting steps in the attached article.
Get help with the camera on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Your photos are blurred or out of focus
If your photos are blurred, out of focus, or have dark spots, try these steps:
Make sure that the camera lens is clean. If you need to clean the lens, use a microfiber cloth. If you see dirt or debris inside the lens, take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Authorized Service Provider for more help.
Make sure that there’s nothing blocking the camera lens. If you’re using a case, try removing it.
With iPhone 6 Plus, a metallic case or magnetic lens could interfere with optical image stabilization. If you have a metallic case or magnetic lens attachment, try taking a picture without it. Then compare the quality.
Adjust the focus by tapping on the person or object in the preview screen. You’ll see the screen pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as the camera adjusts. In photo mode, try to stay steady when adjusting the focus. If you move too far in any direction, the camera will automatically refocus to the center. In video mode, you can adjust the focus before you begin recording.
If the color seems too bright, or you see double-exposures of moving objects, make sure that HDR is set to Auto or Off. Tap HDR at the top of the screen to choose a different setting.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • Rear Camera will not auto focus

For the last 3 days my BlakcBerry's rear facing camera will not focus and takes blurry pictures. Front facing camera seem to be unaffected and takes good pictures. Have done soft and hard reboots and battery pull.

I am having the same issue. On another page people have said it's because the camera is stuck so they've fixed it by tapping the lense or smacking the phone against their hand by the lense and some people have fixed it by dropping it but none of those things have worked for me. Yesterday I shook my phone and it focused again but later on when I went back into the camera to take another picture it was back to not focusing anymore...

  • Back camera does not focus on Iphone 5s, running ios 8.1?

My back camera does not focus on my iphone 5s, it worked fine yesterday, today it does not work. The camera lens is clean. The front camera works fine. The camera will not focus in the Instagram app either. I tried restarting the phone and resetting it but that has not fixed the issue. I will try restoring it but i just wanted to find out if anyone else has the same problem and any solution? thanks

  • Canon 6D will not focus or flash in "Live View" mode.

My Canon 6D will not focus or flash in "Live View" mode.  I have a canon 430ex II  and a E-ttl flash connected with a sync cord for E-ttl function.  The camera does simulate shutter action, but no photo is taken.  How can I over-come this problem.
Once in a while, after trying to take several photos it will start working, but usually not.
    Solved!

    Hi Shadowcat!
    Thanks for posting.
It sounds like the AF Method is set to Quick Mode.  When the camera is set for Live View Shooting, there are different AF Methods that can be set.  In Quick Mode, the camera uses its dedicated AF sensor to focus when you press the shutter button down halfway.
The image on the LCD will be interrupted while the camera tries to focus because the shutter closes and the mirror drops back over the image sensor.  This may look as though the camera is taking a picture, but it is not, it is only focusing.  No flash is fired during this process either.  Continue to hold the shutter button halfway until focus is achieved, at which point the image will return to the LCD.  Then you can press the shutter button the rest of the way down to take the picture.  The flash will fire and an image will be recorded.

  • T3 will not focus.

My Rebel T3 will not focus in manual or auto it just won't lock on, any suggestions before I send it to Canon...

    Hi Jenette,
Hopefully we can help get you sorted out.  But I confess I'm a bit susicious that this is a case of not understanding how to control the camera when you say it wont focus in manual.
The camera does not focus in manual.  If you use manual then you have to use the focus ring on the lens to focus it yourself.  The only factors that can control focus in manual mode are you... and the lens (if the lens was somehow jammed then it could be conceivable that the lens would refuse to come to focus even if you are operating it correcty.)  But you mentioned you tried a number of different lenses and it's extremely unlikely that all of them are broken -- and since it can't be the camera when focusing manually) I'm wondering how you are trying to control focus.
The focus motor is in the lens -- on a Canon auto-focus system it's always in the lens (Nikon has some models where the focusing motor is in the camera body but Canon has always put the motor in the lens).    When the camera is being used normally with you looking through the viewfinder there is a tiny wheel in the upper-right corner of the viewfinder which controls adjustment for myopia.  You can adjust this wheel to correct for the need to wear perscription eyeglasses -- it will only correct for being near-sighted or far-sighted and will not correct for astigmatism.  HOWEVER... if this wheel is mis-adjusted it can appear that the camera is out of focus even when it's perfectly focused.
The camera actually has two different focusing systems.  One uses "phase detect" auto-focus sensors and is only used when you look through the viewfinder (the typical way to use a DSLR camera).  The second uses "contrast detect" auto-focus and is only used when you put the camera into "Live view" mode.
The camera DOES need adequate light to focus.  If you are in a location with fairly low lighting the camera will not have enough light to adequately focus - this is normal and not a defect.   Take the camera to a location with plenty of light -- such as outdoors... during the daytime.  The focus system SHOULD work fine if there is plenty of light.

  • E5 - Camera does not focus ? Help.

    hi,
I don't know why the camera on my E5 doesn't focus well. Cause when you usually point at something, the focus always starts to ... focus, but this doesn't. At all. Am I missing anything, cause it can't be this bad, right?
    Any ideas?
    thank you!

E5 camera does not focus, the quality of images is very low and have jagged edges. Though E5 has 5 megapixel camera, the images are no match to the images of my 2 megapixel - N97.
Nokia should have rectified this problem before releasing it. It must recall these mobiles and fix the problem. Will they?

I have done absalutely nothing to my 4g apple ipod touch, and it over heats, won't hold a charge, and the front camera will not work. I bought this brand new in december, and i've barely used it. I've tried restarting it and everything, I honestly think this is out raging because i spend over $200 on this. To have for music and instagram. I use it about an hour a day, but i've only been using it for about 3 months although i've had it since December. Any suggestions that may help me?

    Try:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
