That'd be a negative.  You've got a few options, though.  If you want actual internet access, you can purchase the Sony GT1 Google TV Blu-ray player or an Apple TV.
If you just want streaming options like Netflix, Pandora, HuluPlus, etc.., you can go with pretty much any Blu-ray player, Roku boxes, Sony Streamer, WD Live, NeoTV, and other media streaming devices.

    Just bought and set up a 39" Insignia 1080p 120Hz LED tv. It's connected to my cable box via HDMI but the tv says the picture is 720p and 60Hz. I've tried almost every HD channel and they all say 720p. The box and manual both say the tv should be 1020p capable. What am I doing wrong?

    Purchased a NS-32E859A11 LED 1080P 120HZ A  94 days ago.  This morning the screen would not come on.  I am getting sound, and the screen lights up a dark blue, but I get no picture at all.  I have made no changes at all to this TV.  Any suggestions?

  • ATV2 video judder/stutter on new LED HDTV

    Equipment:
    40" Samsung UN40D6000 LED HDTV 120Hz 1080P - software all uptodate.
    AppleTV 2 software all uptodate.
    Basic cable (SD) and HD content while watching television is solid, fluid and vibrant.
    However when using the AppleTV playback is stutter/jittery every few moments and the content is all standard definition. Both form iTunes rentals, streaming from an iTunes library and netflix. and its not a streaming issue as I have another bottom of the barrel HDTV 1080p set with an ATV2 and it streams the content just fine no issues. (it performs the jitter/stutter/ when plugging it into the Samsung LEDTV)
    I disabled Auto Motion Plus feature of the set and did no justification or stopped the jitter during playback. When I put the setting on Game Mode it played back just fine as per usual, however adjusting the color quality, picture qualiy etc is disabled and am not getting the full advantage of the LEDHDTV
    Anyone experience this before? I've browsed through some of the posts and seems alot of complications between some ATV2's and Samsung TV's.

    I found this on another forum. Set Samsung Auto Motion Plus to "Clear" NOT off. I also set the AppleTV TV resolution to 720p - 60 hz. Tried it last night on a DVD I ripped with Handbrake and streamed it from my iMac. Finally stopped the jitter. I think I saw one or two stray hiccups during the entire movie. But that's WAY better than the glitch every 4 or 5 seconds before.

    Stores do nothing to "tweak" channels in the store. TVs have many dozens of settings that can be changed by a user at home, and sometiems have presets to switch between certain values that the manufacturer has deemed "optimal" for certain viewing situations. If none of the preset settings offer the picture you desire, you will either need to learn how to change the settings to fit your viewing situation, or pay for a professional calibration.
    It took me almost 6 months before I got my TV settings the way that I wanted them to be, using the calibration settings on various Disney DVDs, Star Wars DVDs, and special calibration DVDs, and constantly having a critical eye for everything I watched. After all of that time and effort, my TVs are about as close to profesionally calibrated as I can get them.
    Have you had Time Warner out to the house to verify that it's not actually a cable problem? Just because they put "bigger cables" in the ground doesn't mean that the signal to your home is any better. Most cable and satellite companies compress their signal quite a bit on HD, and the quality suffers as a result.

  • Can I connect my my macbook pro to a Vizio 32" LED HDTV?

    I have a 15-inch Mid-2009 Macbook Pro that I currently have connected to an external monitor, using a mini displayport to DVI. I would like to now connect my computer to Vizio E320-AO 32" Class LED HDTV (720p;60Hz). I will be purchasing a dvi-hdmi adapter and connecting it to the TV. To anybody familiar with connecting their macbooks to a HDTV, have you had any issues and do you even recommend this? Should I purchase a mini displayport to HDMI?

    There is no reason you cannot do that.  But be apprised that the HDMI cable will only transmit video in a 2009 MBP For audio, you will have to tap the audio output port.

    What is the difference between these two Samsung HDTV's:
    UN55D8000Y
    UN55C8000XF is listed as "new" but I was told at the store the "D" models are new

    It doesn't look the the C8000XF has the Smart TV Functionality whereas the D8000Y does, I could be wrong though. On Samsung's website it shows that the D8000Y comes with 2 pairs of 3D glasses but doesn't say if the C8000FX does or not. It also appears that the D8000Y has a thinner bezel. All the C series are 2010 Models

  • 24" iMac (Late 2006) Cannot Display 1080p on External HDTV

    I've been trying to figure out if it's possible to connect my Samsung LN40A550 40" TV (http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/detail/detail.do?group=televisions&type=telev isions&subtype=lcdtv&model_cd=LN40A550P3FXZA) to my Late 2006 24" iMac at 1080p resolution. Currently, I'm using Extended Desktop mode with my iMac running 1920x1200 but the Display settings only lets me change the resolution on the TV to a maximum of 1080i. I've connected the TV to my iMac with a miniDVI-to-DVI adapter and then a DVI-to-HDMI cable.

    Neither of these articles has said explicitly whether or not it is possible for me to output 1080p to my TV from my iMac. Do I need to use different cabling? I've tried reducing the resolution of the iMac to see if it was a video card restriction, but I still could not increase the TV's resolution.
    I did notice that the newer iMac's specs say that they can output at 1080p: http://www.apple.com/imac/specs/
    Perhaps my iMac just doesn't support external resolutions that high? So I looked up the video card (NVIDIA GeForce 7300GT - http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforce_7300.html) and it does not appear to say whether or not it can handle two displays at 1920x1200. Under the "Advanced Display Functionality" heading it says:
    * Dual integrated 400MHz RAMDACs for analog display resolutions up to and including 2048x1536 at 85Hz
    * Dual-link DVI capability to drive the industry's largest and highest resolution digital flat panel displays up to 2560x16001
    * Integrated HDTV encoder provides analog TV-output (Component/Composite/S-Video) up to 1080i resolution
    Any help figuring out how to connect my TV to my iMac at 1080p would be greatly appreciated!

    hey there cooperaa & welcome to Discussions.
    i didn't see anything in the fullspecs that said your TV does 1080p, just that it does 1920x1080. also, since 1080p was a fairly new "standard" for video(Blu-ray/HD-DVD) when your Mac was built, a 1920x1080 progressive output was possibly not included. i have an early 2006 17" iMac connected to my 42" HDTV over DVI>HDMI & i can get 1920x1080i, which is the highest rez my TV will accept & i use this iMac as my DVD player(along w/ an optical cable for audio) & have not noticed anything "ugly" w/ the picture as i have de-interlace selected on the DVD player(a standard DVD is 720x480). since Apple doesn't include a Blu-ray player/recorder in any of their machines what will you watch that will be in 1080p? generally if your TV does the higher rez, it will scale the rez to fit your settings--ie. a 1920x1080i broadcast on a 1280x720p TV will scale down to the TV's native rez as well a 1280x720p broadcast will be scaled up to 1920x1080i if that's the native rez.

  • TV 40-46" 1080p 120hz with FULL internet browsing capacity

    It looks like there are only 2 tv makers that allow for the full internet access (LG and Sony).  I can't find a reasonably-priced sony KDL-40/46EX620 (sold out by BBuy).  KDL-40/46EX720, the next model seem to be at 60 refresh rate.  
    How does the blu-ray work?  can it allow the FULL access to the internet or is it only for connection to the pre-set locations, such as u-tube, netflix etc?  
    Another Q:  Do I need the smart TV to watch my downloaded movies?

    Let me just add some comments here that conflict with some info already provided.  First of all, Sony has not reverted to cheap parts to build their TVs, and they are not as bad as suggested.  However, I do agree that Samsung and LG LEDs have better quality, as do Panasonic plasmas (not their LCDs), and of course Pioneer hasn't made a TV in many years.
    The reference to the problems with 120 hz was to a four year old post that was indicating problems with 24 fps film based material.  Many of these problems have been alleviated in the past few years, however many people (me included) would turn this function off (which is always an option) when watching 24 fps material (such as Blu-Ray).  On the other hand 120 hz does do a very good job of reducing blur and providing a sharper image for tape based material, especially beneficial for all sporting events.  It is worth the extra cost.
    The reference to full web browsing by some manufacturers is probably somewhat of an overstatement, however those with a built in browser can link to well over 95% of the sites that google would bring up.  The most exceptions are major video providers such as ABC-TV, CBS-TV, etc.  The built in browser is still a plus for these TVs, but they won't totally replace your computer.
    The TVs with the browser are the higher ends of LG and Samsung (models 8000, 7000, and I think the 6900).  The nice thing about the Samsung models is that they include a full QWERTY keyboard on the flip side of the remote.  The Sony Google TV also has this capability, but I believe that it is overpriced and not as good quality of picture as the LG and Samsung models.

    Perhaps you can provide us with some verification of your poitns?  Particularly about the 120Hz.  For your information, 24p interpolation is the only time if might actually do some good!  So, you have it backwards. If you can provide any verification, other than from the manufacturers, that shows that it has any affect on motion blur, then post away.  Hint: Flashing the same image over and over does not make it sharper, and if motion interpolation is involved, the frames created in between the 60Hz broadcast frames are artificial, and cannot be sharper than the original.  SO, post away...I'll be interested...
    I guess you also have not used the browers that you reference that you claim can access 95% of websites that google brings up.  Startling numbers that go against both my real world experience and any testing/review/rating that I have ever known.
    As far as to the quality of Sony TV's you are entitled to your opinion, but with the high return rates, the high failure rates, and the legendarily bad Sony "customer Support", anyone who knows anything will recommend against them.  They *are* cheaply made.  They *DO* use inferior parts.  There sets *ARE NOT* competitive in picture quality to the other big name players.  Even a cursory, casual comparison will veryify this. 
    A full QWERTY keyboard is nice, but that does nto equate to a full browser.  The operative word is full....not borowser.

  • How to change my resolution to 1080p@120hz?

    I have mac mini late 2012 and BenQ XL2420t, connected through minidisplayport -> displayport, but macos settings lets me change resolution to 1080p@100hz maximum.
    Is there any way to fix this problem?

    To support display devices requiring higher video bandwidth, there is provision for a dual DVI link. A dual link doubles the number of TMDS pairs, effectively doubling video bandwidth at a given pixel clock frequency. The DVI specification mandates how the dual link may be used. All display modes that use a pixel clock below 165 MHz, and have at most 24 bits per pixel, are required to use single-link mode. All modes that require more than 24 bits per pixel, and/or 165 MHz pixel clock frequency must use dual-link mode.   • Limited 1080p output to HDTV

    Where do i start...
    I can output 1080p at what appears to be 24 hz, I get slightly lagged playback of videos and jerky mouse movements on the TV (as expected I think at this setting).

    When I try to output 1080p at either 50 Hz (PAL) or 60 Hz (NTSC), from the options above (IMG), I get no picture at all on the TV.
    Other Points to note:
    I can output 1080i fine.
    I am attempting to do this with mirroring off, and 1:1 pixel mapping on the TV.
    I currently have problems trying to output video at all with the lid shut, Ill try again tomorrow when I get a friends external keyboard.

    Thanks for the reply again BSteely, this is the Export using the 3rd party mini DP adapter, as the apple mini DP adapter does not show/recognise the monitor in the the system preferences.
