Lg Cosmos 2 Backup Assistant support

I own an LG Cosmos 2 that I'm going to upgrade from soon. I've been trying to backup my current contacts, because my last backup was in 2013 with an old phone number, and my contacts from my old phone number are obsolete. I am using backup assistant from the app store, and I am having so much trouble. I was initially told by tech support that I need to go into backup assistant, and then "options", and then "about", and to type in *73738# but this won't work.  I can't even get to "options".  I changed my number last year and now when I go to Backup Assistant, it says "your mobile # has changed press ok" I press ok and it asks for me to enter my pin, which I do. Then it says (as my old number appears toward the bottom of the screen) "the account already exists. Call customer service." The first representative I spoke with tried to help me, and we were unfortunately disconnected. The second rep. said that she didn't know what to do and that I should write all of my contacts down on paper and then perform a factory reset on the phone. There has to be a better way! I have way too many contacts. Can someone please help me?

Hi there,
I'm unable to delete it because it's not a feature that the phone offers. I
also can't use the secret *73783# thing to remove/restart it because the
error code telling me that I need to contact customer support keeps coming
up. Every time I try the backup, my old number pops up. When I go online to
view my contacts, they are all my old ones from my old number, which are
almost all obsolete. All the advice that customer service representatives
have given me hasn't worked, except for the "writing them all down on
paper" advice. I thank you for contacting me Joel. I'm not trying to be a
jerk, but if I come off as one, it's because I'm so frustrated. I have been
passed back and forth between so many representatives who are unable to
help me with this that I'm going insane and considering just dropping off
of the family plan, rather than upgrading my phone. I understand that I
have a basic phone, but smart phones haven't always existed, so I'm just
finding it very hard to believe that no one on the verizon team knows how
to solve this issue. I was told by the last customer service rep. whom I
spoke on the phone with that this was my fault because I have a basic
phone, and I find that to be unacceptable. So that's the situation that I'm
in right now.

  • LG cosmos 2 backup assistant fails

    Hello,
I wouldn't mind the backup assistant - if it ever worked. Any idea why I wake up every morning and check my phone and it's sitting there trying to backup #5 of 90 contacts?
So instead I thought about stopping the backup. I found another forum that said how I could do it but I'm a little scared to try it in case it deletes my contacts from my phone itself.
    Thanks,

Backup Assistant is a great tool! Let's see if we can determine why your phone does get stuck on #5 every night after the update.
Go through your Cosmos 2, do yo notice anything odd about the 5th phone number stored in the phone?
Can you please log into BackUp Assistant on a computer just to confirm that all of your contacts are in fact listed on the website? If they are listed great!
With the Cosmos 2, The backup assistant application is pre-loaded on the Cosmos 2 and can not be completely removed. You can cancel the subscription and choose not to use it, however you will see it under your list of applications. If you want to remove/start over then you would need to perform a master reset.
A Master reset is the last resort for troubleshooting. This reset will erase all data and restore preferences to factory default specifications. Performing a Master reset is only recommended when the existing data has been backed up or is unwanted.

  • Lg cosmos 2 Backup Assistant - How do I DELETE!?

Every morning I wake up and I must unlock my phone to the cancel the frozen Backup Assistant. I have deleted the App, but it comes back every time you restart the APPs section. How do you complete remove it? This is really ridiculous. It even charges you for the transfer. Why would someone want to . Is  this a ploy by Verizon to get extra money daily out of people like me who are not signed up for a data plan.
So it is supposedly "FREE" but charges you! This is really lame and not legal to not let customers remove an app that is "FREE" yet charges you for usage..
It a "FREE" app alright, free to download, but not free to use. I am ok with this since there is a disclaimer at the bottom of the page, but at least have an easy to loacte area of how to remove the app or disable it! These kind of tactics are why people do not trust companies.
Please do not give me the same old lame customer service answer redirecting me to some other form telling me how to reschedule or the other stuff. If you can't help me do not reply like you did to the other exact same question sand give a bo bo answer VZW  "Pros".

        Hi, verizonuser3000-
I'm sorry for the concerns you have experiencing on the Cosmos 2! To remove the application, you want to navigate to Browse and Download, then just highlight Backup Assistant (without pressing OK to open), then you'll see Options appear in the lower right corner. Select Options, then 'Cancel Subscription' to confirm and remove. After removal, you can then redownload it and start as a new user with your new mobile telephone number. I hope that helps!

  • LG Cosmos 2 --Backup assistant... It's baaaaaaack!

About 2 weeks after I got my new LG cosmos phone in August, I removed the annoying Backup assistant.  It was always draining my battery at night.  My contacts do not change much day-to-day, and there was no reason for it to be running so often.  I followed instructions I found posted here, and went into Apps and under options I deleted it. It was gone and I was sooooo happy.
Suddenly, about a week or so ago, it magically reappeared, and again is running every night.  Unfortunately, the delete option is no longer there, apparently because I already deleted it. Instead, my choice is "Reorder".  This is a bit ridiculous.  Any suggestions?  Has anyone successfully got rid of it PERMANENTLY??  Thanks.

NoodlePoodle, with the LG Cosmos 2, Back Up Assistant is pre-installed. The only way to "delete" it would be to
    perform a factory reset.
Reset Factory Settings & Tools (Restore Phone)
From the main screen, press MENU
Scroll to  Settings & Tools, press OK
Scroll to  Phone Settings, press  OK
    Scroll to  Security, press OK
    Enter Lock Code displays
Enter the 4 Digit lock code (default lock code last 4 digits of phone number)
    Highlight Restore Phone, press OK
Restore Phone -Permanently erases all user data & resets settings to factory default. This phone will need to be reprogrammed.
Highlight Yes and press OK to restore default settings or highlight No and press OK to return to the Security list.
The application will still remain in the phone, you just wouldn't go through the steps of activating it once you set the phone up after the master reset.

  • LG Cosmos 2 - Backup Assistant

I have seen a few posts about issues regarding the LG Cosmos 2 and the backup assistant.  However, I have not yet found a solution to my problem that doesn't involve a reset.
Every day, at least once, I have to shut down the backup assistant after I unlock my phone.  I get this message -
"The mobile # for this phone has changed.  Press OK to update your backup assistant account.  If you are a new user, press #"
I am a new user to this program, I had my last phone for a long time.  So I press #...
    Then I get this message-
"You must delete Backup Assistant from this phone and download a fresh copy from the get it now mobile shop.  Press help for more info.  Press exit to close."
    So I press help...
    Then I get this message-
"To delete Backup Assistant, go to the get it now mobile shop, select the application, options, and cancel subscription.  Then go to the get it now mobile shop.  Get going to download a fresh copy"
So I go to the shop, highlight the app and there is no cancel subscription option.  I have read multiple posts on how to delete apps, all of which mention a cancel subscription or delete option.  Neither exist.  Keep in mind when offering help, I can't open the backup assistant at all to do any other trouble shooting.  I have had this phone a few months, trying to figure this out.  A factory reset is not an option, or at least it shouldn't be considered a viable option.
    Any ideas?!!!

  • How to sync more than phone numbers from Backup Assistant to LG Octane?

On the LG Octane, I have been told that I can Import contacts from Outlook 2010.  Also I can edit and add contacts in Backup Assistant.  This I can do.  But when I sync the phone to Backup Assistant all that appears on the phone contacts list is the person's name and phone numbers.  The lines for address, email, etc are blank.  These items do not transfer from Backup Assistant.  What is wrong?

Backup Assistant supports most address book fields; however, there are some address book fields and settings that may not be accessible.
    Supported Fields
    Mobile 1
    Home
    Work
    Email 1
    Mobile 2
    Email 2
    Fax
    Unsupported Fields
    Groups/Category
    Ringtone
    Text Messaging Ringtone
    Picture ID
    Secret
    Speed Dial
    Voice Mail
Some information may  not sync to the device because there may not be a specific address book field for the contact information.
Sign in to the Back Up Assistant website and press the Sync button.

  • Why is Verizon support for Backup Assistant so limited?

Folks, I have wasted a whole day looking for a solution to this problem. Perhaps this posting will save someone from wasting their time.
After over an hour on the phone with two customer support people and a wasted hour at the local Verizon corporate store, and endless hours searching for an answer online, I am at a dead end. There are hundreds of reports in these forums about problems with Backup Assistant (BA). There are instructions on the Verizon website that indicate BA will work if you follow the steps. It just ain't so. Seems to me all Verizon cares about is selling the latest and greatest smart phones.
Here's the story. Backup Assistant was working on an LG VX6100. It is a tedious program, but at least contacts could be backed up when it worked.
Today I transferred the 6100 to a new number for a family member, and activated an LG VX8300 for myself. The first phone customer support person directed me through the same steps numerous times and just couldn't believe that the menu options they spoke of were NOT on the phone. I was finally turned over to a second customer support person who directed me through exactly the same futile steps. I read them the same error message over and over again. It was: "Unable to retrieve catalog. Please try again later (3332)." Then I was directed to go to a Verizon store in town for help. Another useless venture. I brought along the following instructions which I found in one of the forums here:

This response several months ago from MikeS_VZW - there IS a fix but as rep may have to look to find it -
We hear your!  I have posted several things about not being able to access the Get It Now catalog on some older devices.  Before, there was no way to get your access back to the catalog.  You had to upgrade to a new device if you did not access the catalog between September and March 25, 2011.  There has been a lot of feedback about not being able to access the catalog, so we made it possible to get it back.
Here's what you need to do to get your Get It Now access back on your older phone:
    1) Ensure you are able to access other data on your phone (go to settings & tools> My Verizon or My Account) this does not charge megabytes, but does connect to data.  This will ensure other data is working.
    2) Make sure you don't have blocks on your line that is preventing you from accessing the Get It Now catalog (app blocks, etc.)
    3) Take it into any Verizon Wireless corporate store (authorized dealers/premium retailers will probably not have this ability).
    4) Explain your issue to them.  If you are getting error 3332 when you bring up Get It Now, let them know.
    5) A representative will plug your phone into a computer and flash the certificate/update onto your phone (we have articles in our information database to walk them through that if it's their first time.
    6) Enjoy having access to your Get It Now catalog again!
This is new information. Before, the only option was to get a different phone.  I know this sounds cheezy, but we do hear you. Lots of feedback came about due to this change, and although we tried to be proactive as possible to alert the affected users, there were some that fell through the cracks.  Feel free to PM me or call customer service at 800-922-0204 for further information about this.
Good luck!  And note it specifies CORPORATE STORE - that may be why you weren't getting anywhere before.  Use the Store Locator (top right of your screen) to make sure you are dealing with a corporate rather than "authorized reseller".
The store clerk read it. After dinking around with the phone for 15 minutes he said he thought a software update for the LG VX8300 might help. He took it in the secret back room, and came out a few minutes later and said that they didn't have the latest version because the IT people hadn't made it available to them and probably wouldn't because the phone was an older phone. Apparently anything older than 4 years is ancient in Verizon's eyes. He suggested I might be able to get it directly from LG. He also said I could bring in the VX6100 and maybe they could transfer the contacts directly from it to the VX8300 if they could find a cable. However, that still leaves me with no Backup Assistant. That was that.
LG does indeed have updates available online, but it requires a special LG USB cable which I do not have. For instructions visit

    Ideas, anyone?
This whole ordeal does not make me want to commit to a 2-year contract that comes along with new equipment.

I noticed that you posted this a couple of months ago...  I just activated an old VX8300 as well and am having the same error messages.  Did you have any luck getting it figured out?
I agree with you as well.  I am getting married in June and do not want to upgrade to any kind of data plan for 2 years and after we get married we're switching to Sprint, not this Verizon garbage with the worst customer service that only cares about screwing people over in this terrible economy. (Sorry, enough ranting from me, just curious if you ever got it fixed? Thanks!)

  • LG Cosmos Touch - Transferred phone, but can't get rid of old user's Backup Assistant

Hello!  I'm trying to transfer one of my phones (an LG Cosmos Touch)  to someone else (on my account), but I can't get the old user's  Backup Assistant information removed.  I've tried removing the app so I can download a new copy; it tells me it's removed, but it's still on the list.  I've tried syncing the new user's contact list to the phone from the computer, but the phone tells me the number's changed, and if I try running Backup Assistant it still tries to contact the account for the OLD number, not the new.  I just reloaded the address book by hand (since there weren't too many numbers yet), but I'd LIKE to be able to run Backup Assistant for the new user of the phone, whom I'm sure will be adding additional contacts.  How can I do this if I can't replace the app?  Thanks for any help you can provide.

On most devices where you can't remove Backup Assistant, you can do the following to get rid of it.
    1) Open up Backup Assistant.
    2) Press on help (may be under options).
    3) From the help screen type in *73738#.
    4) This will remove Backup Assistant and you can just reconfigure it altogether.
I hope this helps someone who is in the same predicament.  NO need to master reset the phone to get rid of Backup Assistant. Woohoo!
Any questions, please let us know!

  • Backup Assistant Service Failed - Sync state not supported by this operation

I have a Samsung Stratosphere running Gingerbread 2.3.5.  Recently I tried to use the Backup Assistant app and it gave me the error message:
    Service Failed
Sync state not supported by this operation
How do I get it to work again?  I can't think of anything that could have caused this.  It worked when I first got the phone.

I clicked on "backup my contacts" and they backed up--I see them.  Here is
the strange thing:  the first person to get back to me told me to disable
the app since it didn't work well with Android.  I did that.  Two days
later, it started to back up.  Huh?????  Seems like it is inconsistent.
So, do I just wait until it doesn't work again  (dumb question--what else
can I do???).  Does this happen to others?
Thanks so much.  I am new to Verizon and so far I am pleased and really
like that you got back to me!!
    Sincerely,
    Fran

    JWensley,
Sorry to hear about the trouble with the PIN! Let's get you past that so you can complete the transfer process. Are you receiving that PIN by pressing the # key as outlined here: http://vz.to/1zINyY8 . Is this the initial backup on the old device?

  • My Backup Assistant not running when I set it to - on LG Cosmos 2

I have gone over the settings several times (even checking when I sign into Verizon website on how to do this) & set it to go off Late Night.  It runs mid-morning.  And at times, in the afternoon, too.
Is this the phone's problem or Verizon's problem?
I've only had the phone since mid-Dec.  But it seems to have started this messed up schedule bit in the last few weeks.
Any suggestions?  I just may have to go in & bother a person at the Verizon store soon.
    Thanks

The great news is that the BackUp Assistant is working. Sadly, it works at a different scheduled time.
Is this random run time affecting the function of the phone?

I want to get rid of Backup assistant on my phone, an LG Cosmos 3. It runs everyday, which I do not need. I can't set it to backup less frequently, so I would like to remove it completely from my phone.

        Hi megfish,
Thank you for your inquiry today. I definitely understand how important it is to have full functionality to your desired applications. My sincere apologies that this application cannot be removed from the device. This application is a hard install with the operating system. Please feel free to keep us posted if you have any additional questions, thanks!

  • Backup Assistant - I am posting as a new item as this issue is shown as resolved and it is not.

I just got my second LG Cosmo 2 phone device and am having the same problem noted by others.  I was told by a customer service rep to take my first phone back to a local store and exchange as the backup assistant problem I am having will be resolved.  Well it did not resolve...read on.  The first time I go to use the phone in the morning Backup Assistant is checking if changes to my directory have occurred.  You have to unlock the phone to let it complete or you hit end to cancel the update.  I have worked with customer service to fix the problem with no success.  We have deleted backup assistant, which apparently re-installs automatically when you access "Apps".  One customer service agent told me to change my schedule from midnight to some other time in the day as sometimes the Verizon systems are not available from midnight to 6 am.  I am totally frustrated with this annoying issue every morning and especially if you are in a hurry to answer or make a call.  Seems to me  the backup assistant application could have a schedule option of "off" or "manual" so that this problem goes away.  Let the phone user determine how they want to manage their directory backups.  I've been in the software business for over 30 years and backup assistant is just poorly designed and it is proven by the numerous complaints similar to mine.  It would be so simple to fix with a software update and stop a lot of wasted time in this forum or unnecessary calls to customer reps.  It anyone has a solution please let me know. Thank you much.

    Hi gmeyerco,
I know how frustrating it can be to have Backup Assistant connect randomly.  The next step I would take would be to uninstall the application and reinstall it.  Please follow these steps to uninstall/reinstall:
    To Uninstall:
    Press Menu
    PressMediaCenter
    Press Browse and Download
    Highlight Backup Assistant
Choose options on the bottom left
    Choose Cancel Subscription
    To Reinstall:
    Press Menu
    PressMediaCenter
    Press Browse and Download
    Press Backup Assistant
    Choose Free Subscription
Then follow the steps for installation and set up.
I am certain this step will resolve your issue, please reach out to us if the steps do not resolve your concern and we will certainly continue with trouble shooting.
    Thanks,

  • How do I transfer contacts from my lost phone(note3) to my new temp phone(droid mini) when I had backup assistant on old phone?

I had backup assistant on my Note 3 and could view the contacts online inbetween phones. Now after getting a different phone after I lost my Note 3 I can not even view my old contacts online.

Did they get moved to the trash can online inadvertently?  If ater a couple days they don't populate on your my vzw.com tech support can open a trouble ticket to have them restored. Try the vcloud app to but sometimes it just takes a few days for the system to catch up after changing devices. I like to keep mine on my SD card,  in Google and backed to gcloud app just in case.  Once you get them back online export a csv copy to your Gmail that way you can just click sync contacts in settings and they'll come right down to phone
